I used to love afternoon tea at the Ritz prior to the pandemic. I finally went today after over two years and I was shockingly disappointed. Absolutely appalling food and service. The food was sparse and terrible. I can not believe that they charge so much for such an embarrassingly tiny portion. What happened to the nice sandwiches and small pastries that were being served prior to 2020? Now about the service...the staff is nice, but very overwhelmed. Once we were served our samples of what was supposed to be our afternoon tea, not one of them ever came to see us again. We were never asked if we needed anything, if everything was OK, nor were we offered hot water or additional sandwiches/desserts. Only after chasing down one of the staff members for our bill, we were asked if we liked our experience (surely simply because it was time to type in the tip!). Needless to say, we all sat there - stunned. We left very hungry and very much disappointed in the experience. Don't waste your money or your time going for afternoon tea at the Ritz Carlton in Montreal.

Had recently celebrated a special occasion at this Ritz Carlton. The staff were friendly and the service was exceptional and on an entirely different level from what you would see even from a famous Canadian luxury hotel just a four minute walk away. Special thanks to Veronica for arranging everything and ensuring my stay was truly special. If you want to experience real luxury and elegance, don't think twice and stay here!

Hotel was totally amazing! We were so happy to stay there. The reason why I put this rate is... After service. I forgot one of my favorite $100 hair mask, I just bought it, so it was brand new and used only once. I left it in the shower. I called hotel the day after, and nothing was entered into the system. I clearly remember where I left it on the shelf in the shower. Probably someone took it or through away. I had hope I could get it mailed to me, and proof how good their service is, but unfortunately not. Other services when we were staying was amazing. Just this one big disappointment.

The Ritz-Carlton Montreal is widely regarded as one of the best in North America, and my stay did not disappoint. Prior to my arrival, Mr. Nicolas T. from Guest Services contacted me personally by telephone to inquire about my stay and understand my preferences. He was professional and personable, ensuring everything was prepared perfectly for my arrival. He also left a gracious and well-composed handwritten welcome note in my room, which was an elegant touch. I stayed at this hotel for a business meeting, and I was able to accomplish my objectives in no small part due to the charming and welcoming atmosphere fostered by the hotel. Between the property itself and the service - such as that from Nicolas - it was an outstanding experience. I periodically stay at similar hotels, but this property surpassed all others with its ambience and old-world style service that harkened back to a different, more genteel era in hospitality. I will gladly return to this hotel, and will not hesitate to recommend it to others like me. I also wish to send a note of praise for Ricardo the bell captain for his resourceful assistance during the check-out process.

Positives : Staff at the front desk and concierge were wonderful and friendly . Beautiful , historic building with lovely rooms. Very clean and quiet. Robin & Danniq at the bar are both warm and kind. Denis at the front door is inviting and funny 😆 Negatives : We stayed here 5 nights so we got to know the hotel quite well … there seems to be a shortage of staff available which creates daily lineups to speak to front desk or concierge. This wouldn’t be such a big deal if it wasn’t applicable every single time we wanted to speak to someone over the course of 6 days. Also , our biggest issue was with the breakfast service that ended at 10am which is super early for those of us who come from the west coast and deal with time change and when we showed up twice right at 10:00 am they refused us service immediately . We felt this was not right at a 5 star hotel.

Unbelievable - best guestroom ever and we stayed in the signature king (entry room)! Room - Bathroom was perfect - marble heated floors to the Toto toilets, unlike anything else; they personalized our crib with a lion for our baby F&B - We keep strict kosher; the kosher breakfast (which we requested last minute) was superb (my wife & I ordered cold/hot respectively). The High Tea was a remarkable experience - I wish the kosher version was a bit more bang for your buck, but worth the experience Service - Impeccable throughout; every concierge was truly invested in making our experience wonderful; every bellman and front desk agent was delightful too Overall, the Ritz-Carlton was the highlight of our Montreal trip for sure!!

This location gets by on excellent service. The staff is just lovely and we would return for their amazing service. They were very welcoming. Unfortunately the hotel itself has a few shortcomings. One, there was an issue with the hot water at night, and only cold water was running. Yikes! Two, the room walls/flooring are quite thin. We could hear the folks above us and beside us. Besides this, the room was nice, the dinner from the Ritz menu was tasty and filling, and the breakfast was good. All in all, we would probably return, but if you’ve been to the Toronto location, you might be a tad bit disappointed in the room.

The Ritz-Carlton knows how to hold a reputation. You will not be disappointed. Our stay was for 10 days while on a break in Montreal. It’s an architectural masterpiece. Excellent hotel and service as expected.

Mother daughter time....We went for afternoon tea and had a really great time. The staff was so warm and friendly and extremely accommodating to allergies and food restrictions. It was a mini vacation for a couple of hours with my adult daughter. Definitely will go back!!! Thank you for such a nice experience.

Beautiful hotel and service. We were impressed with Andres the bellman! He made our stay at the hotel feel like home. He was very kind to us, he went above and beyond to assist us in every way. We will definitely come back.

Classic hotel. I was attending a conference, so my exploration around the hotel was limited. I understand it is the first Ritz Carlton in North America, but they have kept it well appointed and fresh. Staying at the hotel for three days was very comfortable. The staff take their time learning your name and preferences. The desk in my room was very functional. If you're here for business and need a very comfortable and efficient hotel.

The food is outstanding. The hotel is filled with history & art. The furnishings & up keep are impeccable. I fully suggest a visit. The best period!

my review is for the High Tea experience which was absolutely wonderful ! the perfect outing for mother's day which we plan to do again every year! The staff are so incredibly nice, they make you feel like royalty. the atmosphere felt like we were in a castle. the food and the tea was just divine and although it may look small and not a lot, we were FULL when we left! every bite was just so delicious, my favorite was the scones with the lemon cream. 😋😊

Stayed at the Ritz in March 2022 for 2 nights. I received an email from client service before my booking to see if I had any special requests to make it a great experience. The gym was clean and well equipped for the small space they had. Pool was nice, loved the lounge chairs by the fireplace.

We stayed here for two nights and can't say enough about the service.....and the quality was excellent as well. I could bring up a lot of great points but the one that stands out was the bar area manager Alfred. He was outstanding and handled a situation like a pro. He made it clear to me why the Ritz is the place I want to stay at over and over again. He is a real asset to the company. Thank you Alfred and then entire staff for making our short trip wonderful! We stayed at The Ritz Carlton, Montreal for our anniversary. Beautiful hotel with great staff and service. The room was stunning. The amenities looked nice, however we didn't get an opportunity to use them due to the hours. The breakfast room service was very over priced and not worth it, I would suggest going to a nearby restaurant instead. Overall worth the experience.

I had one of the best experience here. They greet me from a very long distance begin from even when we were still in the car. Hotel decorating is phenomenal, service is on my top tier. Clean and classic. I appreciate their dedication for their hotel experience, will definitely come back again if next time Montreal.

I’ve stay in a lot of hotels specifically with the Marriott brand and I have to say the Ritz Carlton lived up to their reputation. The room was perfect, the little detail was spot on for example when you lay in the tub the light switch is in reaching distance! The location is where you want to be, walking distance to everything. But what stood out for me was their customer service, it’s truly amazing, very professional but genuine. Great job, and keep it up.

We went for a weekend getaway to Montreal, and stayed at the Ritz. It was amazing. As soon as we walked in, Andre (Concierge) knew us by name, ensured we had everything we could ever want, and treated us like family. The rooms have all the amenities you could ever ask for, including heated toilet seats, motion sensors on the light, electric blinds, etc. The staff throughout the hotel are friendly and aim to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Want a certain type of pillow? They even have a list to choose from! The Ritz really thinks of it all!

The staff made this one of our best hotel stays ever. They were not only friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating but also proactive. The housekeeping staff truly stands out in this regard with incredible attention to detail servicing the room. They added little rubber bands to our long cords to keep the bedside table tidier and left an eye glasses microfiber cloth when they noticed I had a glasses case in the room among many other small things we greatly appreciated. The room service staff were also quite good with prompt and super friendly service both on the phone and with delivery. The welcome gifts included in our room package exceeded expectations. The only thing that could have possibly been better would be softer towels.

I’ve stayed in ritz Carlton in every major city in Canada and the Us. My stay was amazing! My stay in Montreal is by far the worst! I write a lot of reviews and I like to give a very honest opinion . The female concierge I dealt with on the 7th was very pleasant! However, the concierge called Maxine or whatever he is called is very rude! He was rude to myself and my husband. The last straw for me was when he let the Uber eats delivery guy to deliver to my room. He left the delivery on the floor. We had ordered for room service but my kids could not eat the food.I mean, it’s not a shared hostel! This is supposed to be 5 star.Prior I was told when we checked in that we could place orders and once it arrives we should call reception and it will be brought to the room. We have stayed at 4 seasons as well in Montreal and the service was excellent! The facility was modern and everyone was pleasant! Because of this experience, I am going to check in to four seasons! The room was not as comfortable ! The bed was very difficult to sleep on!This is the worst location ever. Not worthy to be called a 5star.

A truly wonderful experience. This was more than a hotel stay, it was a weekend to remember. My wife and I were lucky that we could use Bonvoy points to get 3 free nights, and even then we got an upgrade. At no point during the stay did we feel like free-loaders, we were treat just like anyone else. The staff were so hard working, yet always smiling and seemed happy to answer any questions. We did a full breakfast in the room, which was awesome then had a meal in the restaurant. Again, this was simply amazing. Thank you, thank you all for all the nice touches and making us feel welcome. I would definitely love to come back in the future

The Ritz hotel wasn’t just a place to sleep over our two day stay in Montreal, it was an luxurious experience. A beautiful lobby, rimmed with gold and, perfectly in center view, the grand dining area. As you check in, you are met with service matching the perfection of the lobby; available in French and English. As we entered our room, it was a lovely surprise to see a hand written note addressed to us in light of our anniversary stay (along with sweets and champagne). Our two bedroom, one bathroom suite was stocked with all the necessities, plus some. A work space, window bench, TV, closet, and seating space were nice add one to make our stay enjoyable and comfortable. However the bathroom… a huge bathtub with TV stands stoutly on the left side, a tv hanging above. In the middle is a one sink and mirror set. On the right is a shower and, last but not least, the toilet. The toilet. The modern and beautiful technology makes going to the bathroom an experience. A warming seat, water cleansing, a dryer, and a tornado flush system. This state of the art appliance was a highlight of our Ritz stay. The pool and kids bathrobes were nice and enjoyed touches, however sauna was closed. The only bad note I would have is location, it’s smack in the middle of the bustling downtown. Would highly recommend the Ritz-Carlton Montreal for anyone looking for service and luxury.

Average My friend and I went to the Ritz-Carlton to have our first afternoon tea experience. Our visit was a little below average compared to other tea places I’ve been to. Water was not refilled in our cups. We had to ask for water , had to ask to receive a saucer to put our tea bags in and an hourglass was not provided to control the intensity of the tea. When you go for a tea experience at the Ritz, it is reasonable to expect a little more service than just a tower of food and tea. Not terrible but it did not meet up to expectations.

Unmatched service! The Ritz Carlton went above and beyond! I was there for a 30th Birthday and girls weekend from the U.S. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. We had champagne and a birthday card waiting when we arrived. The staff took care of us in every way shape and form. The queen room felt like a large apartment. It was beautiful, clean, comfortable with a wonderful layout. Our server at the lounge and bar made sure my pregnant friend had the best mocktails and food fit her pregnancy. I can not brag enough about the service we received from everyone here including the doorman. I never want to stay at another hotel again. Brittany Stoops

Stayed for my birthday weekend and the service was top notch. The service is unmatched as they went above and beyond. The staffs were very friendly and accommodating. They had decorated the room for my birthday and had given us Prosecco and cake with a note. The rooms were very clean and room service is excellent along with other amenities. Definitely recommend staying here.

CHECK YOUR RECIEPTS!! Double charged. Called to address but received no follow up or addressing of the issues. I've been hung up op on several times by a supposed "accounting team". Been weeks and still no help. Service has been absolutely horrendous. I've had better customer service experiences at motels.

Excellent service not found in most hotels of this class anymore. Nicholas Trudeau in guest services is top notch. The King suite is very comfortable and you get the feeling that every detail has been carefully thought out. My only suggestion is to have more bell hops for busy times.

Wow. First time staying at a Ritz and now I’m spoiled forever. Everything was so beautiful and the service above anything I’ve ever experienced. The staff really do go out of their way to anticipate your every need! It was our anniversary, which we told them about at booking and they left rose petals all over our bed.

Nestled in the heart of Montreal, the Ritz-Carlton hotel stands as an embodiment of romance and luxury, a symphony of elegance that leaves an indelible mark on the heart. From the moment I set foot in this enchanting haven, I was swept away by a wave of opulence and refined beauty. The Ritz-Carlton Montreal isn't just a hotel; it's a love story waiting to unfold. The grandeur of the lobby, adorned with lavish chandeliers and exquisite artwork, sets the stage for an unforgettable experience. As I entered my suite, I was greeted by a breathtaking view of the city lights, a backdrop that seemed to mirror the twinkle in my eyes. Every detail was meticulously orchestrated to ignite the flames of passion. The velvety softness of the sheets, the deep-soaking tub that invited lingering embraces, and the personalized touches that whispered of undying affection – each element was a testament to the art of romance. The staff's attentiveness transcended mere service, enveloping me in a cocoon of care and warmth. From the rose petals delicately scattered across the room to the private, candlelit dinner that became a culinary love poem, every gesture left me spellbound. The Ritz-Carlton Montreal isn't just a destination; it's a journey into the heart of love. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or seeking a getaway to kindle the spark, this haven of romance is the perfect canvas for your love story. In the embrace of its luxurious confines, time seems to slow, allowing you to savor every stolen glance, every whispered promise, and every beat of two hearts entwined.

We're on our 3rd day of a 4 day stay in this beautiful city but I didn't want to wait any longer to express our gratitude. If your coming to Montreal than you can't do better than this Ritz Carlton. Location is fantastic with all the desired amenities like coffee shops, restaurants, museums, galleries, etc. within minutes. I also found that when ordering an Uber it never took longer to arrive in front than 5 minutes. Bar is fantastic and as elegant as you would expect. Tomorrow night we'll be dining at the Michelin Starred Restaurant off the lobby and we can't wait. Rooms are very clean and well cared for and I particularly enjoyed the large, walk-in shower and my wife reported that the Bath was fantastic. Without a doubt though...the highlight and most impressive element of our stay to this point has been Veronica, the Director For Guest Relations. I was in touch with Veronica a couple of days before arrival to see if she could have our room include a few special requests and she followed through 100%. Once in the room, again, we had a special request and without missing a beat Veronica delivered flawlessly. At the end of the day it is that kind of attention to detail and follow-through that separates the best Hotels from the others. THANK-YOU VERONICA! Looking forward to returning to The Ritz-Carlton in Montreal next time we're in town.

Nice hotel but a few issues. The pre-authorisation is hefty, in fact more than the cost of the room, and clogs the account for many days post stay. We were told there would be a local surprise on arrival but this not fulfilled. The staff at breakfast did not seem to be aware that we had a package which included breakfast. They brought the bill after breakfast even though this was included in the package. I left my coat in the wardrobe and called the hotel the following day - they couldn’t find it. These are small things - however at that price one expects everything to be right!

Great service. Large rooms with many amenities. The restaurant is great. We ate their breakfast twice and dinner once, and it was always fabulous service and delicious food. The room was missing phone charging outlets near the bed and mini bar that wasn't there, plus a modern TV that has Netflix and Apple TV or chromecast.

Amazing hotel, and staff is great. If you spend a few nights there, make sure to book dinner at Maison boulud. Very nice lunch / brunch too, and service is always excellent. Sad however to see that the breakfast buffet is gone (disappeared during the pandemic and never came back). It used to be a highlight and a reason for me to stay there. Breakfast is a bit underwhelming nowadays, especially on days when Boulud is closed (service was slow and overall experience disappointing). RC Montreal is still one of my favorite properties in Montreal nonetheless.

Review of high tea. Grossly disappointing experience. We were practically sat in the lobby, so every time the door opened, cold air rushed in. Service was sub par and inattentive, food was terrible- soggy sandwiches (all of them), dessert bites were one note- each the same note- jam, scones were OK, nothing more, tables made for midgets or dolls- felt like we were sat at a kiddie table- ridiculous. Do NOT recommend this at all.

My husband and I are currently staying here for a week and we have really loved this hotel. The hotel is decorated beautifully for Christmas and all of the staff is very friendly. What a welcome. The first Ritz Carlton ever built and boy has it met the expectations. Got upgraded to a Junior suite, which was a pleasant surprise. Andre helped me gather my luggage and showed me around my room. What a wonderful person. I’ve stayed at the Four Seasons a few months back, and if I were to compare the Ritz Carlton is far better than it’s competition. It’s simpler to use, and more user friendly and has preserved the old grandeur.

On-site dining very limited. Only room service for breakfast. Monday and Tuesday only dining option is room. At the end of our four night stay still not sure where you dine on site - lol. Four Seasons around the corner appears to have more options on site if don’t like eating in your room - particularly breakfast. Ricardo with valet was great. Rooms clean. Housekeeping great. Most staff friendly - but some seemed short / disinterested. We will try somewhere else next time as service/dining below expectations of a Ritz Carlton.

The Ritz-Carlton is a magical place! Memorable moments are constantly being created at this venue. After having heard the angelic voices of the Perpetual Praise Ministries Gospel group, my heart was so deeply touched and I was moved to tears numerous times. What a blessing and a treat! I hope the Ritz-Carlton Hotel will feature them more often throughout the year. I want to say to the Ritz-Carlton staff thank you so much for making this holiday season a heart warming experience especially during this ongoing pandemic.

My stay at Ritz Carlton was a perfection. The room was filled with lots of great new technology to make my stay comfortable. The bed was very comfortable; had one of the best sleeps at a hotel. The breakfast that was included in my staycation package had a good amount of selection and the food was very tasty. The fruits were fresh and the food was cooked and presented to perfection. But the best of my stay was the service from the hotel staff. Everyone went above and beyond and that was what really distinguished Ritz Carlton from all other hotels. I had to make some arrangements before my stay and Christina tried her best to accommodate all of my needs. I knew, from our conversation, that she would not be at the hotel when I visit, but I was very pleasantly surprised and moved by her handwritten note for me. It was such a pleasure to stay at Ritz Carlton and it has definitely lived up to my expectation as a reputable hotel.

Just wanted to give a big THANK YOU to Arlene and the team at this Ritz-Carlton. I went on a trip with my mother and decided to treat ourselves with a stay here while we were in Montreal. The room upon arrival was perfect as usual and I was able to get a free upgrade to a larger room via my Marriott status. Arlene from guest relations had reached out to me the night before and worked with me on preparing something extra special for my mother - on the house! Will definitely look to stay here again for special occasions when I’m in Montreal again!

Very good stay, I love the pool and the giant sundeck on the roof, the service is excellent as it should be and this was the stay of a lifetime. I wasn't there for many days but still I had it off my bucket list! The restaurant is really good but not the best I would have expected. But hey it was worth it, I thought it was good and delicious.

"You don't get a second chance to make a first impression" said Oscar Wilde. The doorman greeted me like I was royalty but an old friend. Check in was informative and courteous. My room is exactly what I had hoped for, and more. Still figuring out the electronic toilet. Dinner at Maison Boulud was spectacular. In room breakfast exceeded expectation. No doubt about it, this was the best choice for my 3 days in Montreal. I researched proximity, price, deals and dining.

Thank you Cristina for making our stay so warm and welcoming! She truly went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. It is unfortunate we had to depart earlier due to Covid restrictions, but it was a memorable stay nonetheless.

Make sure to use ʜᴏᴛᴇʟʙoʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any stay. This website will compare countless booking websites and normally will have rooms a lot cheaper than others! Thank me later on! This resort is the best rated in the area. I have been staying here for a very long time. If you stay for a few days you for sure won't be let down. I had one of the best experience here. They greet me from a very long distance begin from even when we were still in the car. Hotel decorating is phenomenal, service is on my top tier. Clean and classic. I appreciate their dedication for their hotel experience, will definitely come back again if next time Montreal.

We had a fabulous stay for my wife's birthday at the Ritz!! The hotel exudes class. The staff is fantastic and the upgrade to the junior suite made our 5-night stay that much more amazing! Would certainly stay again!

I was 21 the first time my mother brought me to the Ritz Montreal, we had such a nice time. This hotel has remained a special place for me and my family over the past decade. My husband and I were planning a special family get together here in December, and the whole experience has been disappointing. We have reserved a one bedroom suite for ourselves and another standard for our daughters, and the whole booking experience was not very accommodating. We have been trying to make a dinner reservation at Maison Boulud downstairs and it has been unnecessarily complicated (we are adhering to all COVID guidelines). It will be difficult to find new accommodations on such short notice, but we have decided to cancel with the Ritz, due to the declining service. I feel disappointed to have lost a hotel I always thought of as very special in the past.

Based in Montreal downtown, the building is a fusion of vintage atmosphere with modern design and furniture. Of course if one prefers a full modern environment this is not the place to go. Service is discreet and present, rooms are really well. An experience rather than a stay for a high price, that's right.

This is a very nice hotel... it has a traditional feel with a modern touch. Me being from the USA had my first experience with a bidet toilet, and I don't hate it. Left my back side so fresh and so clean clean (in my outkast voice) this is definitely a most experience hotel. Loved it

Remember to use HoteITully.ᴄᴏm when booking a resort. This web site will compare hundreds of hotel sites and normally will have rooms a lot cheaper compared to others! Thank me later! This resort is one of the best in this area. I've been coming here for a long time. If you stay for a few nights you definitely will love it I'm sure! Had a great experience today at a friend's birthday. We had one of the banquets booked. Everything from the set-up, service and closing was perfect. Staff was exceptional and very helpful.

We stayed here on vacation for our anniversary and have nothing but wonderful things to say!! The staff were always helpful, kind and all around amazing. We highly recommend the room service desserts!! Rooms were clean and spacious, we loved the added touches that they placed in our room to celebrate our anniversary! The location is walking distance to cute coffee shops, the art museum and anything else you could possibly need while in town. We will be back!!

Kosher high tea. Everyone was so friendly and affable. Even though we were surrounded by people, the table felt cozy enough for a DMC. With the kosher option you cannot select food choices but you do get to choose your tea. I had the blueberry rooibos.

Extremely disappointed with my experience. I travel often to Montreal and tend to try different hotels. I find most Marriott Hotels excellent but my stay with Ritz-Carlton Montreal didn’t meet my expectations. The room was ridiculously small, the pillows weren’t comfortable at all. The bathroom was average, faucets were stiff. Vanity set was basic not even a toothbrush. The toilet mechanism was good tho. Staff not professional, and 2 persons in the desk were rude and lacked manners. It’s 5 stars hotel yet their communication skills were questionable. It’s definitely a ripoff and nothing, in all honesty, was exceptional. I was expecting a memorable stay but it wasn’t unfortunately the case. I stayed in hotels less expensive and the experience was 10 times better, including Sheraton, St Regis, Four Points, especially St Regis where the rooms and the service were outstanding.

The ambiance is really beautiful. Everything is about the experience, do not expect a lot of variety in terms of food. However, they have amazing options for tea. Their staff are very humble. Very clean & organized.

This review is so long overdue- A couple years ago, my husband and I went to Montreal for my birthday. We stayed at this gorgeous property and had such and amazing time, that I still often refer to the hospitality there. My husband planned a surprise dinner with Kelly for me- and they helped him arrange the details. We had also just welcomed a new dog to our family and upon check in, made our dog feel so welcome. The little details like the dog bed and food and water bowls were brilliant. A few years later, I still think about my experience at this Ritz and the impact it had on me. It was one of my favorite hospitality experiences. Not to mention, the rooms were incredibly clean and comfortable. Thank you again!!
