If you think a garbage bin is a good place to live, this hotel would be great for you. I haven't seen a place dirtier than this, and an owner of a business scammer than this guy. Bienvenue à Hôtel des Ordures du Voyageur

Good place to stay if you plan to splurge on something other than the hotel. Perfect location close to the metro station, bedrooms were warm and the shower water was hot. The staff was friendly and provided soap, shampoo, and a second set of 2 clean towels for free. They also let us keep the travel bag in a locked room after we completed the checkout, so we could visit the city without carrying weight around. Hotel staff also kept an item that I had lost - and that costs a few hundred dollars. We also had a small fridge, cable TV and Internet in the bedroom. I must confess that I didn't like to see my credit card number and validity date written together with my name in a piece of paper, but I had already paid for the room online and I understood the hotel needed some sort of deposit, so I let it go. What I suggest could be improved regarding maintenance is the cleanliness under the beds, as I had asthma during the night and I couldn't understand why, until later I had to look for the lost item under the bed and found out there was lint down there.

The owners are scammers. Be afraid of this hotel. They scam you after check out. After a month from check out, they charged me $9 for a towel which is untrue. I had gently asked them to check everything once I was leaving and, they said all was good. Now after a month, they charged me $9. They are scammers and, this manner is unprofessional.

Do not go there. Worst experience. Receptionist in conflict with every one, filthy place, does not want to refund after you discover your room. There is even a sign posted stating "$3 deposit for visit (conditionally) refundable", meaning that it happen quite often that people are disgusted by the place, want to visit before even paying upfront, and then leave ASAP. Plus it's not even that cheap, like the price is clearly not worth it. When I went, other people were here as well and told us to leave because the receptionist was out of his mind, that he charged them way over what was expected. DO NOT GO!!!

Unprofessional management, cheap quality items, and a disgusting place to sleep. I cannot even find a word to explain how bad our experience was! We were there at the end of July. I am writing this review now because the hotel ( does not qualify for the world of the hotel) charged us after a month for their lost towel?! Although we asked the receptionist to check the room and give us the proof that everything is ok but they said everything is ok. We were two adults but they only have provided one bath towel and one face towel which were so disgusting. Fortunately, we had our towels so we did not complain. Just want to let the unprofessional manager who calls their customer a thief that no one will take that old-fashioned 10-years old towel. And I am wealthy enough to pay much more for a better-qualified towel than that. Our big mistake was not reading the reviews carefully! I found this customer review who had the same experience. They are Scammer and they should be reported to the websites where they advertise. Murphy MacLean 1/5a year ago on Google The room was awful, lack of hot water, shower didn't drain, sheets didn't appear clean, no parking and the clerk insisted I leave my credit card number with him even though the room had been paid for in advance. Then he tried to use my credit card a few weeks after our stay for a small amount, maybe to test if I would notice. There was no reason for his trying to charge anything to my credit card! This place is a scam. I recommend you stay anywhere but here, even sleeping in your car would be better

It was very bad hotel terrible service. Room was terribly dirty, didn’t broom didn’t mop, comforter was dirty and stained other people shampoo was there. Elevator was smelly hallway and the lobby was dirty. And terrible customer service.same night when we did review there is a guy who tried to help us out to give us different room and we appreciate that but they show their real face in the morning.Mr victor changed to another room which is floor was clean but bed sheet is old no towel was look like 10 years old. Couldn’t even touch it. Room was cold heating wasn’t working properly for the room or maybe there is broken window that’s why room didn’t get warm. But we were feeling bad to complain again. And just tried to somehow spend the night. They just ruined our trip and didn’t feel like to visit Montreal and we head back to Ottawa. Didn’t enjoy the rest of the day. Washroom got clogged for some reason and they were blaming us and wanted to get more money. They made us to wait 1 and half hour to wait until plumber to arrive and wanted to see what we put into the washroom. I would never ever recommend anyone to stay that disgusting place to stay. And I wonder how Expedia has on their list this kind of hotel. Manager jimmy mention to call the cops and they made us to wait. Didn’t visit Montreal at all. I have been travelling from Victoria to Quebec City never happen before but this first time. Disgusting place with terrible service.

This is a cheap hotel, and my expectations were set accordingly. I figured most of the bad reviews had their expectations set too high. Even still, my room clearly hadn't been cleaned in at least a week. Every horizontal surface was covered in dirt, dust, and wood chips. The bed was also propped up on a 2x4 where presumably the bedframe had given out. The sheets didn't look clean but didn't smell bad, and I didn't see any signs of bed bugs, so that is one nice thing about the room. All I wanted was a room I could at least pretend was clean, but the one I got hadn't even been vacuumed. I was so skeeved out I wound up leaving and walking 5 minutes down the street to the Auburge du Carré St Louis and paying (after tax) $30 more for a far nicer room.

I have never been in such a dirty and disgusting hotel in my life. When we arrived, the person at the front desk spoke neither French nor English. The room was extremely poorly insulated from the cold and there was a hole in the window when it was -17 outside! We had dirty (hair and crumbs) and smelly sheets. There was hair in the beds and big orange stains on the mattress. The only blanket we had was a small plaid. We couldn't sleep because it was so cold! The towels stank of fried food and so did the sheets. On top of that there was hair in the sink and stains on the towels. We called booking after the first night as we were staying for two nights. The owner wouldn't refund us for the second night but we left as it was really a hotel (if you can call it a hotel!). If you see this hotel in your booking or other suggestions, never go there!

Great value in a convenient part of town. It is a 5 star "1 star hotel." It is very inexpensive, clean, and the beds are comfortable. The biggest problem was the thin walls and the noisy lovers in the next room. About 4 minute walk to the metro. The clerks and owner were friendly and helpful. It you want a fancy place, go to the Queen Elizabeth and pay $450 a nite.

Worst experience ever. Wanted to check out as soon as we got there because of the incredible dirtiness of the sheets and room in general (stinky, filthy toilet, holes in sheets...). The owner didn't want to hear a thing and only refunded us 50%.

This is probably the worst hotel I have been in. The entrance looks crowded and unclean. There were fridges, microwaves, garbage bags all in the cramped lobby. The room I was shown reeked of cigarettes' smoke. At first sight it looked clean but then I lifted the sheets from the bed and saw hairs, dirty spots and small debris...I doubt the sheets had been changed. If COVID was not a problem, I guess you could have stayed in this hotel as it was the cheapest around. I just grabbed my things and stayed at the Travelogue instead. The owner was not very pleasant to deal with either when it came down to getting a refund, but he eventually consented to a partial refund.

This is exactly what I was hoping for, given the cost. It's 5-stars for what it is: an inexpensive hotel. The room was clean (although a little dust in the ceiling fan), there was someone at the desk when I needed them, they were able to hold on to my luggage before I caught my taxi to the airport, and it was very close to the metro. Was there some clutter outside my room? Yup. Did the street noise bleed into my room at night? Sure. Would I have appreciated a mini-fridge? Yes. Was I willing to pay for a more expensive hotel so that I could enjoy these luxuries? Absolutely not. The people complaining about this hotel want something for nothing.

Paid for a stay, showed up and no one was there to attend us. When trying to get a refund, they say I’m lying and I never showed up.

Downtown Montreal is very expensive, so you get what you paid for. But even for $160/night it's way too outdated and small

Uncomfortable bed that smells like chemical cleaner (not in a good way), stains and dark hair on both of the "fresh" towels, level of cleanliness in general not very good.

Ok hotel! If you are used to Sheratons and Mariots it would be pretty bad and disappointing, but as a sleep over for one night it’s actually pretty cosy and comfortable

Place looks old as hell, the elevator feels like it will collapse any day, the room has a small fridge, washroom and some kind of balcony, the door got jammed the day we checked out and we got stuck inside the room for 10 minutes until it finally opened, lastly they haven't returned the safety deposit, It's been 2 days and nobody answers the phone or the emails, very dissapointed and would not recommend this place Update: they returned the safety deposit, took a week but at least they did

Within this segment of hotels, this is ideally located, and the staff is pleasant and welcoming. The night fare is ideal if you're on a tight budget. Some parts of the hotel require deeper cleaning, though.

We had a great stay here! The owner is very accommodating and the building is a 19th century character stay! It was exactly what we needed after a long road trip! The window opens to a neat winding staircase and small balcony. The location was perfect! We would stay here again :)

WORST HOTEL STAY EVER Very last minute same day booking for thanks giving weekend, only hotel left under 300$ downtown. Tried it since noted 2.8/5. Squeaking bed. Torn mattress. Stained sheets. Dirt in bed. Waken up all night by room neighbor who went on emergy balcony to smoke. Unsafe lock on second room door (small barrel bolt). Broken floor. Broken faucet in shower. Burnt light bulb. No shampoo.

The room was great, along with the clean washrooms and good accessories. Service was in time...no problem and they have a microwave downstairs for the food as well. Good location and near to metro station.

I wish i could reply what the owner lied about in a previous comment. This place was disgusting and people are so bad and rude and i found they are liars too. that place I can't even call a hotel/motel. Literally the worse place I've ever stayed in.

They charge you for small things after you leave, like towels. Even after they check and they say all is in order

For the price of a double room located right in Downtown Montreal, this hotel gets you just what you need when you plan on spending more time outside your room than inside. The outside of the building can be intimidating at first but the inside of the rooms are better than you’d expect. Despite minor difficulties with the shower, we were quickly accommodated into a nearby room with help from room service. For the price you pay, this hotel does the job.

We stayed there last week. Not a bad place for the price. Only thing we did was used it to sleep. But becaful for when you leave. If you put a deposit you need to go back to the front desk to ask for it back. We only noticed now that we never receive it. They don't tell you when you check out that you need to tell them you put a deposit. We did receive it after we called them.
