I do not take what I am about to say lightly. My experience with the service at Sola was impeccable. Our server was top of class. This review has only to do with the chef and the quality of the food. I ate here 2 weeks ago. Our first entree was Fois Gras. There was a long black hair in it. I wasn’t too upset about it. Our server took it back and replaced it with another plate. No apologies were made from chef. Fine, I wasn’t too upset about it and I moved on quickly. That’s beside the main point I’m about to make. Last week, I was diagnosed with Campylobacter infection. The department of health in my state (U.S.) investigated and have narrowed down the cause of the infection to my dinner at Sola. Likely stemming from the fois gras. I am now on day 10 of campylobacter symptoms. The complications of which can be very serious and even life threatening. Please be careful with eating here. Especially if chef is serving uncooked duck liver. In hindsight, I wish the restaurant would disclose what they are serving before you eat it. But at this establishment, they have you finish the course and you guess what you ate. As a willing participant, I cannot fault them for not doing so. But, now I know that this practice can be dangerous to your health. Regrettably, I must rate this restaurant a 1.

This was an amazing experience in this French/Japanese fusion restaurant. We had the 9 course menu which was stunning. The dishes weren't large but the overall meal was quite filling. The meal lasted nearly three hours but it flew by.

Visited in Dec 2023 What a fantastic dining experience it was at Sola. The dinner is a 10 course meal of French-Japanese fusion cuisine. Every dish/course is a surprise (you’ll get to know about the menu at the end of the meal) and very flavorful. The amalgamation of Japanese and French cooking techniques & ingredients is really well done and is one of the most unique I’ve had this year. Service is really good with the people at the restaurant being very kind and polite. The restaurant also catered to my allergies. All in all this place is a must visit in my view if you’re in Paris for a vacation and are living close by.

Normal but underwhelming. Great service, nice ambience but mediocre food. In terms of the flavor, it was bland and nothing specifically stood out. We see the effort made to make it special with the plating. However, at the end of the day, it was not a taste experience that is worth the money for us. If I should be specific, I would have liked the tiny tart cups to be thinner and the tempura of the lobster and nori to be much more delicate to make the texture more cohesive to the rest of the dish. The bread was though very bad - super dry as if it was day old bread.

One of the best 1 star ⭐️ Michelin restaurants I experienced in Paris! The harmony of Japanese and French ingredients reflects a great cultural mixed taste! The ambiance, seating and most importantly the respect to the Japanese way of dining makes me fall in love! Do not be picky and let the chef drive what you will eat!

I don’t know why this restaurant is Michelin. It’s so overpriced and overrated if you compare this place with another Michelin restaurants in Paris (very good ones). There’s nothing “special” on their menu and the difference between the others Michelin restaurants is that they don’t come and explain the food to you when it arrives to the table, they let you “guess” what are you eating and when you finish eating they barely come and explain it to you. Also, they are not clear about what will you be eating, you can’t see any menu so it can be tricky. Very slow and poor service, it was so slow at the beginning and when it was near to the closing hour, they started to hurry up so I felt so uncomfortable like if they were pushing you to eat fast. Only one toilet for the entire restaurant, no music (of course, I’m not talking about a night club atmosphere but a jazz music or whatever), anyways, very weird. Very important: they don’t accept American Express card as a payment but for the guarantee of your reservation yes (why??? Nobody could explain me. In my opinion, I definitely don’t recommend this restaurant. It was a total waste of time and money. 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

Really nice minimalist 1 star Michelin restaurant. Excellent Japanese/French fusion dinner and experience. Friendly and professional staff (Isaure and Charlotte). We spent 2.5 hours there enjoying every second. An incredibly nice place where one can enjoy several excellent dishes with a good drink. With some dishes, they made us guess what the ingredients were.

One of my most memorable dining experiences ever. We were served 9 courses, each was creative and delicious. The service was incredible, professional, and also warm! Not at all pretentious. My only complaint is the wine offerings are a bit expensive. The cost of the meal itself was fair.

Omakase at its best. Nice people, creative, well executed food, nicely presented. Some dishes are spectacular. Only personal drawback: Uninspired bar-something piano music in the background that does not make any sense. But this place deserves a visit. The wine and sake pairing also worked well.

Sola was different. The food is Japanese-French, almost to a 40/60 ratio. Inventive and original, the most fun part was that the dishes were not explained, but left for the client to guess- then, later, explained. For food lovers who thrive on quizzes, it was a very fun experience. Flavor-wise, I enjoyed most plates of the “omakase”; however, it wasn’t the type of food I would consider having again too soon. The ambiance can also be a bit cold, which is typical, but personally makes my experience less enjoyable. With that being said, I ate well and was very well-served.

My wife and I had a wonderful night at Sola. The surprise started already with the welcome dish - I recommend this place to everybody who wants to explore Japanese and French fusion!

Wow. What an amazing experience was it 😍. I've been to Sola 5 years ago on my last Paris trip and had it as a great experience in mind. I'm so lucky that we've decided to come back: it was a splendid dinner. The chef just topped himself every dish. The service was marvelous and their wine list is impressive. We will for sure come back !

Every dish is an art piece. The food was exquisite and creative, and the wine pairing is perfect. The waitress is very patient and professional in explaining the chef's intention and ideas on the dish. Would definitely be back!

We booked here for a table at the counter expecting that the head chef will be there but it was their serving who was doing the starters and desserts only whom I noticed was not organized. Best to get a booking at the basement with the cave since it looks better. As for the food, it was very disappointing as I’ve tried a couple of french japanese restaurants in paris such as shiro and passione and narro and this did not live up to the expectation to think it has 1 star. The desserts were good but wasn’t impressed with the rest. The sommelier was really good though. Very knowledgeable and passionate. Overall it was okay.

My husband and I had the loveliest time dinning here in the sunken floor Japanese living room last summer. Truly was an amazing experience from start to finish. The wine paring was exceptional as was the service. Our server had us enjoy the food and then share what we were eating which was truly a fun and delicious time. The food was gorgeous and tasted even better. We also had Japanese whiskey that was just a highlight. The seating in the cave was historical and breathtaking...beautiful lighting and seating. I'm grateful that they had an opening when we starting looking for restaurants. It's literally what dreams are made of. My husband didn't care for onions and they were extremely accommodating (we let them know as soon as we booked early in advance). We saw Kosuke as we were leaving and he was incredibly kind, as we had to thank him for such a decadent time. This is a restaurant NOT to be missed and cannot wait to come back to Paris to eat here again..

The whole dinner experience is beautifully curated. Staff is very welcoming, we love the starters, cocktails and the main course. Not very impressed by the desserts but overall it is very lovely. There is no phone reception at the basement which encourages the clients to really enjoy the moment. :)

Sola embodies perfectly what a Michelin star restaurant is all about! Friendly and personalized service and attention from the team, ceremonial presentation with all senses engaged in the tasting! And beautiful upcycling of their dishes ! Definitely an experience to embark on with your loved ones!

Good food, but our waiters kind of forgot about us. People who came after us got their food earlier and left sooner than us.

An exceptional culinary experience. We had the chef’s tasting, 7 course menu and were there for about 3 1/2 hours so plan accordingly. The service is outstanding. Our waitress knew every detail about what was being served and was able to answer our questions. I tasted pleasurable flavors I never experienced in my life. This dinner is towards the top of our fav things of our trip to Paris.

An amazing culinary journey combining traditional french cuisine with Japanese fusion. The chefs tasting menu is presented beautifully and the staff has a post-mortem on each course with you. Lots of fun. Michelin star is well deserved.

We went remembering what the place was years ago before closing. It's not at all at the same level while price is. Unfortunately there are many options in Paris today that offer much better food for a third of the price. Dishes felt kinda always the same, just not that good (1/7 was exceptional the rest was meh). Pricing is properly outrageous given the level of cooking.

A good french Japanese fusion restaurant. You can enjoy a Japanese style dining room downstairs where you have to take off your shoes. The staff is very friendly.
