Music
was
great
tonight,
with
friendly
and
efficient
service,
but
in
my
opinion
the
event
suffered
from
one
fatal
flaw:
Every
few
minutes
one
of
the
lighting
guys
suddenly
made
it
too
bright
on
the
dance
floor,
interrupting
the
flow
and
killing
the
vibe.
The
right
lighting
effects
can
be
cool
when
done
tastefully,
taking
into
account
the
intimate
space
and
sensitivity
of
people
in
altered
states,
either
attuned
to
the
musician's
vision
or
stable
enough
for
them
to
incorporate
into
the
mood.
I
understand
the
need
for
a
venue
to
rely
on
flashing
lights
to
stimulate
drunk
people
or
spice
up
a
forgettable
set.
But
in
this
case
I
felt
like
the
changing
colors
and
intensity
were
a
jarring
gimmick
that
kept
distracting
from
what
otherwise
was
an
amazing
performance.
They
contrasted
with
the
DJs'
intentions
to
build
and
release
the
proper
amounts
of
energy.
When
you've
got
real
artists
sharing
their
skills
and
a
crowd
who
is
there
to
appreciate
them,
just
keep
the
lights
low
and
allow
the
music
to
carry
the
night!
