One of the remaining gate structures surrounding Chiang Mai. All of these are massive structures and with the moat just outside must have made it more difficult for unwanted visitors to enter the city. To better understand how important these gates are I recommend a stop at the Chiang Mai National Museum where you can find a set of exhibits that walk you through history from early stone tool humans in the area through to modern day.

Nice small picturesque spot to view if you're passing by! But it's not somewhere I would especially travel out of the way for.

Walked the perimeter of the old city starting here and stopped for lunch an beer after doing the 6 klm walk around. The coldest beer I have had in Thailand, lunch was excellent. If you are in the area of the northern gate try it.They have a small pool table and the sun is at your back so cool to sit and watch world go by. If you are an Aussie or Kiwi come here. You will enjoy.

Landmark gate, sadly has fallen down as a result of heavy rains during September 2022, It will be rebuild of course, but today the structure is rather sad Visited again today, 23.10.23, no sign of a rebuild, but some archaeological excavations have taken place

If you looking for the scenic view I would recommend to have a morning walk from Chang Phuak Gate through Chiangmai Gate (around 2 km.) using the road on the opposite side of Chang Phuak local market. You'll have your own experiences what's exactly local people are doing

Lot of food option, but a bit pricy since it is a tourist spot
