2021年９月２０日(月)に真岡市の街歩きで訪れた。夕方だったので、速足で敷地内を回った。

法難にあって
越後国に配流されたが、五年ののち
罪を許されて関東に入り、常陸国稲田に滞在布教の為この地に巡錫されたとき、大内氏一族の懇請
によって一字が作られたのが、専修寺の始まりと伝えられている。
信州善光寺感得の一光三尊仏を本尊とし、のち真仏(二代)さらに
顕智(三代)にうけつがれ東国に
おける初期真宗教団の根本道場
として隆盛をみるに至った。寛正六年)真慧(十代)は
伊勢一身田に専修寺をつくり本山
としたので以来、この土地は下野国
旧本山と称されるようになった。御影堂如来堂等その大半は、江戸時代の再建にかかるものである。

●専修寺は、全国に600余ヶ寺ある真宗高田派の本山寺院です。開山親鸞聖人のみ教えをまっすぐに受け継ぐ寺院で、境内の御廟にはご遺骨をお守りしています。三重県津市一身田町に位置し、親しみを込め高田本山と呼ばれています。
三重県初の国宝建造物、如来堂・御影堂（みえいどう）に加え、国宝の法宝物や国指定の重要文化財を数多く抱えています。境内ではお浄土に咲くとされる蓮の花を、35種類100鉢以上楽しむことができます。また毎年１月９日から１６日まで、真宗最大の法会“報恩講”を行っています。
関東の地は、親鸞聖人が四十歳から六十歳までの壮年期を、念仏教化のためにフルに活動された土地であり、
真宗門徒共通のふるさとであります。
中でもこの高田専修寺は、聖人が建立された唯一の寺院であり、七年の間聖人が居住され、専修念仏の根本道場とされた聖地です。
聖人を慕って、各地から遠近を問わず集まった多くの門弟や農耕者たちが、この高田の如来堂で聖人のお話しを聞き、ひたすら念佛したのです。
高田の如来堂は、聖人の布教の拠点であり、ここを中心として高田門弟が形成され、関東でももっとも有力な教団となりました。
門弟の中からはすぐれた人物が輩出しましたが、中でも真佛・顕智両上人は、親鸞聖人の後を継いで、教団の護持発展に
中心的な役割を果たされたのでした。
それから七百数十年を経た現在も、約二万坪の境内にはうっそうとした老樹が生い繁り、七堂伽藍が古色蒼然と立ち並んで、聖人の御遺跡の中でも、最も
よく御在世当時の姿を伝える、随一の御旧跡となっています。昭和四十二年、国が史跡に指定したのももっともでありましょう。
寛正六年（一四五六)第十代真慧聖人が教線拡張のため寺基を伊勢国一身田に移され、二つの専修寺が並立することと
なりましたので、昭和二十四年「宗制」によって一身田を本山とし、下野を本寺と呼ぶようになりました。
聖人御真筆の名号や御聖教・消息なども、数多くこの寺に伝持されてきましたが、それぞれ国宝や重文に指定されて、
現在は本山（三重県津市一身田町）の宝庫に、門弟たちの貴重な文書と共に、大切に収蔵されています。
