This
place
has
always
been
special
for
me.
A
place
50
km
from
Moscow
where
fascist
tanks
were
stopped.
The
place
where
Moscow
was
saved...
Now
there
is
an
eternal
flame,
a
church,
a
military
history
museum
and
an
open-air
exhibition.
And
20
years
ago
it
was
a
field
with
several
tanks
and
a
T34
tank
visible
on
a
hill
right
from
the
Volokolamsk
highway.
We
always
stopped
here
in
May,
touched
the
anti-tank
hedgehogs,
stroked
the
cold
metal
of
the
tanks,
laid
flowers
and
remembered
those
who
defended
the
Volokolamsk
direction.
We
always
listened
to
grandfather’s
stories
about
our
village
when
the
Germans
entered
it,
we
listened
and
did
not
understand
how
this
could
be?
After
all,
the
village
is
only
60
km
from
Moscow.
And
now,
when
I
bring
my
children
here,
for
some
reason
I
also
tell
them
not
about
the
Lenino-Snegirevsky
memorial
complex,
but
about
the
bloody
battles
50
km
from
Moscow
near
Snegiri.
Everything
here
is
so
dear
and
memorable
to
me.
Just
like
I
remember
from
childhood.
Perhaps
someone
may
not
find
it
a
very
interesting
idea
to
go
here
on
purpose,
then
you
can
combine
the
trip
with
a
visit
to
the
Arkhangelskoye
estate,
the
Vadim
Zadorozhny
Museum
of
Technology
or
the
New
Jerusalem
Monastery.
But
it’s
simply
impossible
to
be
nearby
and
not
stop
by.
