Very nice beer garden with a long history in the middle of Munich. Have been here a number of times over the years and have never been disappointed. Was very surprised to see how accommodating this place is for children, for instance there is a very large wooden playground in the main garden, which was great for the kids that were there. Service in the restaurant was fantastic as was the selection of food and of course beer. In the self service area, the offering was just as good and the location to eat and drink your heart away was superb. I will definitely be back when I am next in town. Keep up the great work!

Really nice staff and the food is amazing. Very crowded. Waiters wear traditional German outfits. Food is great. Since our stay was short in Munich we only ate there once. I wish I could eat there again. Hopefully in the future if we go back to Germany Munich again. Highly recommend this place. Their food is delicious and fresh. I went there without any reservation and was seated right away.

The food was great and they had live, traditional music. The service was a bit slow and they didn't give us a chance to order a drink at last call. Then, they were pretty pushy about tipping zeroing in on us being American. Overall, I recommend it, but just be aware that the service might not be top notch.

I wasn’t expecting such kind of experience of beer. Not doubt Augustine beers are awesomely great. It was very hot day and after traveling a lot, the beer made me feel fresh. This place is a big garden with full of benches. Location is cool. Easy to be here by bus, tram or even train station is not far. There was a kids park at the corner of this place where your kids can play while you can have beer. Haven’t got such kind of experience in England. The whole place was full of friends, families and people all around who want to enjoy the beer. The atmosphere was amazing. Didn’t happy with service where you have to be in queue but local people being served before us. Even I noticed that so Asians facing same thing. There’s a queue for rest of the world but not for locals. Process for beer were fine even the food was not very great but bit over priced. Anyhow I had very amazing and unforgettable time with friends and love to come back again.

Sorry for this post. I usually don't offer bad reviews, but my experience was unpleasant enough to get me to write this. My wife and I went there at around 1.30pm yesterday for lunch. We were served by a waiter who seemed disinterested with us. He was rude and loud. He slammed our beer, abruptly took away the menu from me, and gave a loud "wow" as he walked away from us after our order. He didn't even check with us on our preference of the drink that is offered in their set menu we ordered. Before we finish our meals, he approached us wanting to settle the bill, and told us that his service is done. We had no idea why is he so angry with us. After lunch, we just wanted to quickly leave this place. We felt very unwelcome by this experience. Food was slightly on the saltier side, but it was still ok.

It is really ruined my appetizer, food was odd, special roast pork have strong smell, bottom and surface have seasoning but inside no, marinade not enough time, left outside too salty and inside meat is bland. Only good for beer, verity flavors. Not recommended for tourists if u r not familiar with German beer. Have live music . Few days later I have marvelous experience in Ulm, wine test festival, really beat it up. So dissatisfied this restaurant.

Very very recommended! I think it is less touristic than in the downtown. The beer is great. The food is super tasty, with fair prices. Short, understandable, also in English. The service is very helpful, speaking English. I would say with much more modern approach, however with a huge history. I think it was established like in 1360. There is a cellar, where a lot of tables. You can be sorted next to other clients and just join them in drinking beer. At the ground floor there is more traditional environment. I recommend to do a reservation! Strudel is super tasty, actually as anything else.

The atmosphere in this restaurant is amazing! I come here with my family and we all loved it. It was our first time there and our waiter recommended the lager, it was so good! We easy threw back 5 with our dinner. I had the salmon which was the best I’ve had in a long time. My family member had the Jungschweinebraten which is roasted pork neck with potato dumplings.

My first Bavarian experience here in Germany. Picked this restaurant to be the first place I head to after touch down from the airport. As a tourist I was honestly shocked at how salty the pork knuckle and maultaschen… had to down a lot of beer to wash it off. Also ate a lot of Sauerkraut to neutralize the saltiness but no complaints because this place serves the local first and foremost. Other than the saltiness I would say the food is really good. The have a wide variety of choices to choose from and you can see how popular it is among the local with the troves of people visiting. Overall great experience 🤩

This place has a garden which is especially great in summer time. Highly recommended is you’re strolling around. Also there is the option of self-service where you don’t need to wait for ordering and service. Quite ideal to pick up and eat fast. We ate on the self service part to be fast and catch our train.

Great atmosphere and food. We had the pumpkin risotto and the Wiener Schnitzel. Both were good, but I highly recommend the Risotto if you visit during the season. - make sure to go past the outdoor cafeteria if you want the restaurant. The cafeteria part has good food too, but it's not the same menu.

Food was ok, but service was awful and possibly racist. I can't be for sure they were racist, but why would they take us Asians to the very very back tables where the waiters were eating, 3 or 4 rows of tables away from the white guests I wonder? I tried to order a weisswurst and the waiter yelled NO at me... I guess they didn't have it? I ordered a lemonade but was given a sprite... whatever. At the end, to pay by card they made us walk all the way to the pay station, so that they can pressure us into tipping. They did so by first saying the total and that the tip is not included. I replied an amount which is rounding to the next 5 or 10 euro which I believe is common in Germany. The waiter then complained about the tip saying it's too low and asking if the "service was BAD? Was it BAD?" (It was). I didn't wanna argue so I just added a couple euros tip but my god was this a horrible dining experience. Would not recommend anyone not white to come here.

The whole place is designed in an old fashioned way, which is really cool. Also, the menu offers authentic german dishes and great beer. There are sometimes music events in the Keller. Good place to meet with friends and enjoy a good beer.

As beer gardens go... This is ranked in the top of the list. It is nestled in the heart of the city. It looks small from the entrance but is massive when you enter, there is no shortage of seating. It's only an 8 minute walk from the main station (Hauptbahnhof). It has a beautiful seating area outside with a big playground for the kids. Food looked amazing but I was there for the beer 😉

Great place to get a German beer garden experience! This place is huge on the inside, it could probably seat hundreds of people if not more. I loved the atmosphere here, we went at night, and we could hear sounds of laughter and conversation and live music all around us. The beer I had here was the first beer I've ever tried that I actually thought tasted good. The service was friendly as well. I don't remember much about the food, which might have something to do with the beer.

Sorry! We tried almost all the popular and off the beaten path joints for beer and pork knuckle for the past 16 days….i would say it’s mediocre for our family. I have many many more photos but can’t post because of privacy. But all in all, despite the crowd, we loved the place. The atmosphere was electric because in 3.5 hours time, it’s gonna be a brand new year! The server was a bit harried due to the many tables that she had to serve but it’s ok. Nothing major as all of our requests was executed perfectly. No language barrier. I booked this place online from Malaysia late September. Just in case… The restaurant was already in full swing when we arrived! There were many people waiting outside, hoping to secure a table or a spot but without reservation, it’s gonna be a long long wait…

I really liked the very convivial atmosphere here. The restaurant is huge but always packed, hard to find a table on weekends. Maybe a bit too noisy. Food is great, I found it to be very authentic and cooked with fresh ingredients. And of course, the beer is light and goes down real easy. 🥲

My boyfriend had been here a few years ago. It seems to be much less populated because of Covid now. I loved the feeling of the hall but it wasn't too crowded. The beer was great and well priced. I had the veal with spetzel and my boyfriend had some sort of venison goulash. All of the food was good. We finished it off with cinnamon curd dumplings for dessert! And the service was great.

The food was excellent and the atmosphere was lovely in the evening. The beer garden section looks like a raucous place to spend a Saturday afternoon. Sadly the server was a bit aggressive when asking for the gratuity, which I have never really experienced in Germany. Still worth a visit for tourists. It’s outside of altstadt but easily accessible on the street car.

It was quite nice and decent place. The beer was fabulous and I have no words to express the feeling which I experienced after the first sip. 🍺🍻. The servers are behaving in a typical polite way. The food was also satisfactorily good in terms of quantity and quality. The best thing which i admire the most is the English-speaking person and also menu-card which is also available in English(First time I saw such thing in Germany). I use to speak German so it's not a problem for me but I have 3 friends which are from Canada and it helps them a lot. Will surely visit again. 😊

First of all, it has this authentic Bavarian vibe that many people look for when coming to Munich. Second, they have a lot of nice beer here! Third, the cuisine is good if you are into this kind of stuff. In the dish that I ordered, I only liked (somewhat) the pork belly while that white meatball was just horrendous. I'm not sure what it is made of or why they keep it on their menu, but I would not recommend you ordering it.

Atmosphere was great. We got seated downstairs at a table with some people who were already there. We had not made a reservation. The food was delicious! They were very kind, especially with our very limited German speaking. Their name tags show flags for what languages they speak which was helpful. The beer was delicious and they actually had a really tasty alcohol free beer! I saw some reviews about pushy waiters. That was not at all our experience. Our waiter was attentive and after we paid the bill he started to walk off and we had to call him back to give him the tip.

Loved it for the huge outdoor seating area and their self-service counter, made it feel like one big college cafeteria. Its also easily accessible by tram or walk from hauptbahnhof (Central station). The food is good and their beer is delish!

One of the best beer halls in Munich. Great garden tables and beautiful architecture. Excellent food, especially the beer cheese made from Camembert and cottage cheese, and the Wallner white sausage. Must go!

I had an unforgettable time at Augustiner Keller in August. This historic establishment exudes charm and character. The moment you step in, you're transported to a bygone era. The highlight, undoubtedly, is their exceptional beer. From the first sip, you can taste the tradition and craftsmanship that goes into every brew. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening with friends or family. although It can get very packed even on weekdays. the staff is friendly. Augustiner Keller is not just a place to have beer; it's a journey through time, offering a taste of Munich's rich history in every glass.

Five stars setting with the best canopy of beautiful trees. They have a good control at the entrance and also a check-in with the Luca APP. The Biergarten has tables for large groups, great beer -of course-, and all kinds of foods. Ribs were too dry with an abundance of sauce that did not mask the overcooked meat. Fries were also dry and somewhat stale. The pretzel, however, was festive and fresh.

I would definitely recommend the place to anyone looking to try German delicacy. The food, ambience, and the atmosphere is just perfect for you to feel like eating in Germany. The vibe of the place is the most Bavarian thing you will probably ever experience. We ordered the Jungschweinebraten which is basically roasted pork served with Kartoffel Knödel (potato dumplings) and Rotkohl (red cabbage). We also ordered the Schweinshaxe which is pork knuckle also served with Kartoffel Knödel but this one is served with Sauerkraut (german coleslaw). I can definitely say both of them were amazing! The Schweinebraten was tender and tasty, but I would say the sauce was somewhat bland. The Schweinshaxe’s skin was crispy, with tender and juicy meat inside. My friends said the beer was also good. The price was reasonable to be eating in a place with a lot of history and such atmosphere and also good food. I would recommend you to reserve a table before going to the place as it is always packed, but yes… you can walk in and wait for a table too. Great place to eat in! A must try when visiting Munich!

I went to this restaurant to celebrate New Year's Eve. The beer is very good but the food doesn't live up to the price! Small portions and some combinations on the starters (in my opinion) were not successful. The environment, on the other hand, promoted with flying colours! Very characteristic atmosphere inside and in the garden you can play curling (cool!). I recommend it if you visit Munich for the first time, but to eat a lot and well for little money you can find a lot better….

Very authentic Bavarian dining experience! Very lively staff members. Large seating area so it can be hard to get served. We enjoyed the steak and the schnitzel stuffed with ham & cheese. We found the food a little salty and dry (duck & pork from the special set)

A great traditional beer hall with all you need to drink and eat from the Bavarian kitchen. A bit loud ( off course) and some waiters seemed a little tired of tourists (understandable) Great schweinhaxe!

A super Augustiner, much more local clientele than others downtown so a more authentic experience. We first visited on a Sunday night as we arrived late and many places were closed so this was the only option available. I have to say the experience was fantastic and made even more so by our "Super" server Samir!! His attention and cheery attitude was so positive we returned again. To his credit he remembered us and moved us to the table we had before as it was "our table" demonstrates a level of service that has sadly become uncommon in the modern insta world. Overall a great place with excellent traditional food and great beer! Mind you they have been at it since 1328 so have had a few years to get it right.

We were in Munich on a long layover and all I have to say is that if you want to experience an authentic German beer hall this place has it all. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was fantastic and the staff was very helpful. Location wise it is a little bit out of the way but if we ever go back to Munich we will absolutely make the trip again.

A traditional beer hall in Munich, which is very famous among the tourists and it was packed on a Friday evening. Covid protocols are strictly followed. Augustiner beer and traditional Bavarian food was 😋 . I would highly recommend this place to have an authentic beer garden/hall experience.

Great place to visit for German beer and food. Old-world atmosphere even though it is in the middle of a bustling city. The walk was a little sketchy at times due to the area seeming run down and a lot of individuals that didn't seem of the most influential in the city ;-).

Epic beer garden. They say it can seat 6,000 which is huge. The beer garden just seems to go and go. Rather classy dining hall inside as well. It's a must if you want the traditional German experience and are looking for Steins

Arguably the best pork knuckle in Munich, the potato dumpling is really good too. We tried the sausage and the radler as well, we are not beer lover but surprisingly it is just perfect....just one downside, it is rather crowded. Very highly recommended, must dine in and try...

WAHNSINN! Hard to fault this place! We had booking for a group of 7 but we ended up being a group of 9, no problem, the staff just put a table together. It was very busy the night we came, but the service was so fast, we ordered and received our orders in an amazingly short time! Very hearty Bayern meals here, with the best beer in the world. Thank you for a brilliant night, when we come back to Munich we will come straight here. PROST 🍻

Randomly went to this place and was extremely pleasantly surprised, the atmosphere was truly Bavarian with a large dining hall and live traditional music. Food was also decently priced for the experience you are getting ( roughly 15-20 euros). We walked in at 6-7pm on a weekday and was seated immediately, food and drinks came out very fast as well. As for service, we never had high expectations for food service in Germany so it was largely ok, waiter got our orders, accommodated to allergies, and was quick with everything . 10/10 experience , if you can only visit one restaurant in Munich , it has to be this one. 1/2 Pork knuckle was extremely filling, we were worried that they had actually served us a full knuckle. 17 euro Weiner schnitzel was also nice, the potatoes was great, about 20-25 euros. N

The place is massive with delicious food and beer. The service is also great, all our servers were super friendly and spoke perfect English. The only thing I didn't like were the prices which I felt were a bit more than a regular Biergarten. Nevertheless, I had a lovely experience.

One of the loveliest beer gardens in Munich, with plenty of seats both indoors and outdoors. Radler beer is really refreshing, and the platter is great for sharing. Kaiserschmarrn is one of the best I’ve ever tasted! Will be back again for sure.

Came on a Sunday afternoon, near 6pm, it was crowded but still able to get tables (about 25% tables were available, more on the edges). We took a self-service table. There was only a short queue at self-service, selection and payment took about 5 minutes. Staff were quick and friendly. Was a bit confused about the types of beers available, some English descriptions would be great. Food were straight forward, just take yourself or point! Prices were super affordable, prlork knuckle and a side only for €25! Enough to share for two. There is also smoked fish at the side, definitely want to try next.

If it wasn’t for the scam with the beer where most of it was foam and didn’t read the 0,5l line but more than a thumb, I would have given it 5 stars. The food was seriously good, grew up in Germany with German grandparents and the food made me really happy. Especially the pumpkin soup and the venison in 2 sauces. Server was nice, but a bit rushed as it is super crowded in here. All tables are taken and they put 2 couples on a 6 person table so that more fit. Super touristy but you will get proper German food. One star lost due to beer scam tho. It’s not the 0,5l beers, the Mass beer (1 Liter famous Munich beer) was 1/3 foam. Wanted to order more but don’t want more scammy beer. I went to the beer garden in summer and definetly the food outside is more Mensa/Canteen Style and quality compared to inside.

We loved this place,by chance I had booked a table for our last night in Munich. It did not dissapoint. From the initial welcome to where we sat outside,to our server, the food, drink & price was excellent. The Beer Garden was huge,i am comparing it to other beer gardens we had seen, and it was very busy even at 7pm,we sat next to the main building which was fine for just the 2 of us. We would highly recommend a visit here if staying in Munich, not long to walk here at all. Book a table,in advance, all the staff were great 👍 I had delayed having a Apple Strudle until my last night, and I am pleased to say it was worth the wait, pictures will not justify how nice it was. Because is it a short walk away from the centre I do believe you are getting a great experience, good food & drinks at a good value.

My husband and I ordered the liver ball soup and a combination meat plate to share. The soup is too salty for me. The duck meat is kind of dry. The pig skin is hard like a rock. Regardless, the service is fair; the atmosphere is pleasant, beer is good. Might come back for beer; but, not for food.

A great beer hall experience with good food. Our local friends took us here instead of the more famous (but touristy) other option. The food was excellent and the staff worked feverishly to ensure everyone was fed and their glasses never emptied. The whole place had a very friendly, jovial vibe.

Amazing beer and great food! The place has a huge outside garden and lots of space inside, with live music in the evenings. They have plenty of traditional food (wursts, schnitzels, pork knuckles), but also cheese platters, salads or baked salmon. The only downside was the slightly chaotic serving, making it hard to get the waiters’ attention.. but it was worth it!

  • 4/5 Petros PAPAZOGLOU P. 1 year ago on Google
This is a restaurant full of history and this on its own contributes to the ambiance of this place. Please note that if you want to order the lunch buffet (around 10 euro) you must insist for a table upstairs. Downstairs is the cellar which is the place where they sent all the tourists, and indeed it is nice, but there, only the a la carte options are offered (twice the price of the lunch buffet)…In rest, the principle of relatively hearty portions for relatively high prices, is applied. If you have kids some portions can be shared. The food though is tasty and some drinks are amazing e.g the rhubarb non alcoholic drink! The service is to the point but not too friendly.

  • 5/5 Julian J. 9 months ago on Google
If you only have time for one beer garden while you're in Munich this is the place for you. The food was great but the service and vibe was awesome. I highly recommend the sampler plate but the pork knuckles with crackling was the best. Go with the house beer and you'll be happy and entertained for hours.

Great outdoor restaurant to get immersed in Mücheners life. 500 meters from the train station. Hundred of open air tables underneath the canopy of large trees. Lots of locals, not too many tourists. Beer was good, the half chicken was also yummy.

My favourite place in Munich. This place is HUGE but the best atmosphere and traditional Munich beer available. There's TONS of room outside but may have to wait (or book) for inside.

The Keller is fantastic. Amazing building, good beer and good food but actually the Braustubl on the other side of the station is even better from a beer lover's perspective.

Pork knuckle, Sauerkraut, Sauce and potato dumplings - delicious. Only 4 stars as just not as good as one we'd tried in Freising the day before! But absolutely would recommend nevertheless! Really busy (6-8 pm) as you'd expect but rarely queued for long: fast and efficient self-service style with option to book for table service.

Der Außenbereich ist sehr schön und abends sehr voll. Wir haben trotzdem noch einen Platz bekommen. Das Essen war sehr gut. Und das RADLER schmeckt bei sehr warmen bis heißen Tagen besonders gut.
