OK traditional Bavarian medium-sized beer garden, can be quite packed and loud probably because it's in a backyard. A live band is missing though. It's half self-service, half tables with waiters. The space feels very tight, even during Corona measures. Seems like they want to cramp as many people as possible in there. There's definitely better places to go to for good atmosphere, especially since the crowd is comprising of many pretentious "posh" people. On the right side after the entrance there's the perfect place for that kind of people: a beach bar. In the back you'll find a playground area for kids and a special sweets booth. After 4 p.m. beer is only served in 1L mugs (!) which I find very pushy by the owners since all other traditional beer gardens I frequently visit let you choose whatever at any time. Easy to reach with public transport. Food quality is ok only, prices are average, serving Hofbräu beer.

Damn what an authentic German HB in the middle of town. As you walk into this expansive indoor Biergarten you are greeted with the smell of great meat, sourkraut and hops. I ordered the bees Wiener schnitzel which came out quickly and was accompanied by a nice Bavarian potato salad. The food was ok but I feel it missed a bit of salt. Food was a 3 star, the additional star is due to the location and atmosphere. Service was slow at the beginning but it picked up after we ordered.

Went here for our first dinner in Munich as I really wanted a good Bavarian experience and it was near our hotel. Huge beer garden outside. Cool traditional beer hall atmosphere inside. Food was average but I'm not a big fan of German food. Beers were good and I'd go back just for the Bavarian experience.

Super cool place with a great outdoor area and super fun vibe! The service was a little off at the beginning - the server was being a little too rude to the Indians / Middle Easteners (refused to bring an extra basket of bread even though we billed more than 500 at out table, spoke to us very harshly). Great beer and great food though, no complaints on that front!

Food was good. Service was a bit slow, we had to wait quite some time until someone took our order. Generally, a fine place.

I have been here many times, quite a big and popular beer garden. For bigger groups, you can book in advance. Food was ok and service slow but good.

Traditional German cuisine in a cosy setting. Scrumptious food, large portions and reasonable prices. Staff were attentive and a vibrant atmosphere within the restaurant.

Pork roast and pork knuckles were chewy and the sauce and the dumplings were obviously instant. Even the cabbage salad had to be ordered as an “extra”… Poor Bavarian fast food that did not match the beautiful rooms.

Food was good. Service was awful!!! If you’re looking for a place to enjoy a nice evening, run away, this place is not worth wasting a single penny. Maybe with a different waiter things would have been different… we personally won’t come back to check.

Very nice beer garden was full so we sat inside. Hax was quite good. Ordered steak well done, it was borderline over done. Slow unfriendly service. Won't go again.

It's really a good beer garden. The wind the trees and with our friends! Cozy. But the service was ... we ordered half cup of beer and she brought a cup. And we said it's not what we ordered and she didn't change for us... amazing for this unfair deal.

Good food, great beergarden! Dreamy ambiance and friendly staff. Next door is a club, hurts but does not ruin the vibe. Clean bathrooms, shockingly. Good GF and vegetarian options.

Very comfortable and beautiful restaurant with a "beer garden" outside, where you can sit and eat / drink in the open air. In general, my wife and I liked to eat here, but there are several unsatisfactory, in my opinion, things: There are unhygienic towels in the toilet. You need to pull the towel cloth, wipe your hands, which then tightens the mechanism like a seat belt (apparently sterilizing), and it's very uncomfortable with this approach. In public places such things should be disposable. I liked the ordered food, it was tasty, if I may say so for 85% of the taste of the most tasty dish that I tried in Germany for a vacation. But I did not like the lemonade that my wife ordered. It was a corny taste of sprite. I will not say that we were deceived, it would be unfair just in words, maybe they really just prepared it with such taste, but for all the time that I drank lemonade there never was such a taste anywhere. And I think that the portions are small.

I came here on a Monday afternoon and the place was dead. There were a little over a dozen people there and I was the only one eating anything. Kinda awkward but it was still a traditional Biergarten with the trees, benches, and atmosphere. I got the sliced pork and potatoes which were both good. I really love that potato and cucumber mix that is so ubiquitous in Munich. Sooo good. The pork was just aight, try something else is you go.

Food, beer and vine - all was good. But can not recommend. service is strange. At the beginning we waited 10min for the menu. At the end we've asked 2 times for the bill. And finally it took us 30 min to get the bill and pay.

Very tasty dinner , (Schweinebraten and only one Kartoffelknödel) and friendly service. Shame we were offered salads and charged extra . Makes one feel unnecessarily scammed. Does that 10 euros for those two salad make or break the restaurant. Shame. Otherwise good.

One of many traditional Bräukeller in Munich. With lots of space and tables they still managed to have great and friendly service that quickly served us with more drinks. The food was incredibly delicious and more than filling. Will definitely recommend this place in the future and return with visiting guests.

Really easy to get to location, plus it’s out of the bustle of Marienplatz so it’s a lot less busy Seated straight away and the decor is fantastic, Christmas decorations everywhere and Bavarian trinkets. The food was really good and generous too - everyone ate and drank a lot! Only downside was our waiter who seemed very annoyed he had to look after us. He even made up some story about not being able to accept card even though I’d seen other tables accept (perhaps he thought he wouldn’t get a tip?) Either way, I’d return, plus if the waiter was nice it be perfect!

We went here for a Christmas Day lunch. The food was really good and the staff were so friendly letting us stay well beyond out booking time. We had the mixed meat dish and schnitzels and they were both great. The brew of Hofbräu is also great. Would recommend if in Munich!

Very nice Location near the City center. Even without Reservation we (3 Person) got a Tablet immediately. Food was very good and really big portions. Waiter was always around and attentive.

A great place for a proper bavarian meal or just to enjoy a cold beer. The menu is traditionally bavarian and includes everything from snack platters, side dishes like Spätzle or fries to Schnitzel and other main dishes as well as popular deserts like Apfelstrudel. I can really recommend the „Portion Knusprige Schweinshaxe” as a main course if you are really hungry. The Hofbräukeller is located in one of Munich’s most beautiful districts called Au-Haidhauden, right next to the cozy Wiener Platz and not far from the river Isar. You can either dine inside the big restaurant or enjoy the fresh air in the Biergarten. Here you can order food and drinks outside under beautiful chestnut trees. Be sure to come early during the summer days. Because it can get crowded, since it is a quite popular Biergarten in that area. You can order beer either in 0,5l or in 1,0l glasses. After 4 pm though, you can only order Weißbier (wheat beer) in 0,5l glasses. After 4 pm, beers like Helles or even Radler (beer mixed with lemonade) are only available in 1,0l glasses called. They also have a bar outside if you fancy a cocktail or longdrink over a beer.

great, spacious place. It can accommodate a large number of people. nicely organized. Almost the whole place is in the shade. the offer is also interesting. big minus for the food staff. When we asked for precise data on allergens, we did not get them. Not everyone is allergic to gluten, there are tons of others. Even though it wasn't crowded, she didn't bother to give us information. That's why we will think about coming to this garden again on our next visit to Munich.

Loved the scenery and the way this was set up. Next to being able to get your own beer and basic foods, you could also sit down and order from an extensive menu. The food was incredible and really exceeded our expectations!

Didn't try the food, but had great atmosphere. Lots of locals enjoying a beer and maybe dinner after work, kids having fun in the play area, and beautiful old chestnut trees shading the massive courtyard. Not many tourists make it this far from the old town.

We came here after a long train ride from Strasbourg, France, because it was within easy walking distance of our hotel (Hilton Munich City). We had been to the Hofbräuhaus near the Marienplatz stattion several times on a previous. And while we liked the Hofbräuhaus, I think we enjoyed the Hofbräukeller even more. There was casual outdoor dining and what seemed to be less touristy, if that's a word.

Locals beer garden in a quality Munich area. Huge play area for the kids while the adults can enjoy lovely beer. Bit pricey, there are cheaper beer gardens around. Deposit system on the glasses.

Great place to taste the real local food, with a great atmosphere, full of local, and next to a beer garden. What else could you ask for? Rations are big and the price fair. Service is also great and the location, next to a beautiful park, superb. A must in the city.

Spent lovely few hours here. Great place to shelter from the heat and good beer. Not tried the food as you can bring your own. They only sell draught beer in litre glasses after 16.00. Great atmosphere and family friendly. Toilet facilities clean and well maintained.

Typical german food with a modern touch. The food was very good, we had the Dreierlei Knödel, which are three different potato and bread dumplings, one with spinach, another with cheese and one with beets, served over a thick mushroom sauce, I really liked it, it’s nice that they have different Knödel options. We also had the Jungschweinebraten, which is a pork meat fillet over a tasty sauce, also with a potato Knödel, this dish was also super delicious, the meat was soft and the sauce very tasty. The place is super spacious and lots of natural light and a little bit more modern than other traditional Hofbräuhaus restaurants. Totally recommend if you want traditional food.

This place is great like always. Sitting in the Biergarten either self service or getting served. Food is great and beer too. Love to come here. Celebrate inside is amazing no matter for what an occasion.

Great food. We did move to another room and received better service. We had been sitting for over 20 minutes after being seated without service. Food was exceptional.

Most of the meals we ordered were good.such as schnitzel, or port knuckle. The service level also good. It is not easy to get a table in the garden during the summer time if no reservation.

A must visit beer garden in the city centre. They offer all the local special dishes, delicious beer. And the atmosphere is majestic when the lights start turning on.

  • 5/5 Annie W. 1 year ago on Google
This is a large beer garden with tons of shade and a small playground. The food at the self service is beer garden standard. If you have more refined taste buds bring your own or try the delicious dishes from the brewery. The atmosphere is great. This is not mainstream for tourists.

The Biergarten was amazing. Inside sitting was very sad. The fun was sitting out in the Biergarten. They also served a special brew of the Oktoberfest beer. Food was amazing...

Love this Beergarten, the food is good and portions are generous. This is one of the few Beergartens in Munich that has a playground for children. When it rains then there is a possibility to sit inside.

Perfect Biergarten. The place has ample seating and is located in a very convenient location with a tram stop closeby. The food is great, the prices are good as well. Might just be my favourite Biergarten.

Fabulous beer garden that I have been to many times. Great ambience and lots of indoor and outdoor seating including, waiter service in parts of the beer garden. Beer is ok and the food is great. Also a great location to watch major sporting events like the World Cup and so on. The staff are very nice and overall one of the nicest beer gardens in Munich.

As far as bier gartens go this is my favourite. Outdoor seating in the Summer make it a great outdoors experience. Traditional Bavarian food and beer. A bit pricey in my opinion but worth a visit

The food is good 👍 and prices reasonable. But the location is really exciting 😁. A lovely hideaway close to the center (well, a bit popular but usually you get a table). Beautiful chestnut trees🌳🌳 🌳

Familiar friendly beer garten with different options (restaurant, self-service area, kids playground, coktail bar....). Even if it is too busy and you didn't book a table in the restaurant, you may find empty spots in the tables surrounding the self-service area. The atmosphere is very convivial with loads of locals having a beer after work or just enjoying dinner with the families. Beer is good with at least three different types and food in the self service area is simple but well done (sausages, roast chicken, roasted knuckles and schnitzel with a selection of salads). Haven't tried restaurant but will do next time I'm around.

Excellent place for German food in a biergarten! Crispy pork belly and the salads are good! And the biers are great too! Hint: go for the self service area to order your food and bier! You can get half litre beer vs 1 litre ones! Definitely a must visit!

  • 5/5 Denis U. 1 year ago on Google
Great experience here: food is ok but somehow overpriced, beer instead is delicious and worthy. Under the leaves of big trees you can enjoy a really authentic bavarian biergarten among locals and tourists. Everything is well organized, bathrooms are very clean.

One of the best in the cit. Our Kellner Antonio was fantastic this is actually in the cellar as the name would suggest. But if you go down to the cellar you'll find a gem of a dance club that belongs in a Quinton Tarantino film.

Went with my company. Waiter was very pushy about orders. The atmosphere was really nice. Did not enjoy the fish too much as it was too sour, but the duck and steak were quite nice.

I came here with my best friend quite late to have Kaiserschmarrn but sadly we were too late and the kitchen was closing soon. The waiter Aslin was kind enough to bring us our dessert and a bit of Kaiserschmarrn that was left! The kindest man and very well mannered and friendly! Would 100% recommend the place 🥰
