Cozy board game bar which serves some cheeky food too. Their chicken parmigiana is really good in terms of portion size and price. I’ve been to other places where I’ve paid a lot more for smaller portions. There’s a “per head” table charge of 500円 which is fair enough. The staff don’t pressure you to buy drinks every hour like other bars, so you can take your time if you’re having a D&D session. Hundreds of board games with stickers to let you know if they’re English, Japanese or both. So everyone can join in. Lovely staff too, very friendly and will always try to make conversation with you.

Argh wanted to love this place, but as I had to leave because the air inside was getting so thick and hazy from the fryer, I’m left in a tough spot. It’s clear that the crew cares about creating an awesome oasis in the busy area in Osaka. Tons of games are lovingly curated, and the staff is so open and ready to help steer you in a good direction for the right game. It was fun to overhear what seems to be a regularly occurring Dungeons & Dragons game go on. Be aware that there is a modest fee, per player, to play the games. There’s no time limit on how long you can stay, so I get it. But also… everyone goes to play games! Wish there was a way to either pay the fee or hit a “2 drinks or 1 drink and 1 food item” per person waiver or something. You’re going for the games, not the drinks necessarily, after all. The beer options included 1 draft beer and 1 random can of craft beer that was found under the bar. The house wine is Franzia. As the night progressed… it became increasingly hard to breath inside the bar. You could see the haziness from the air in the lights. A majority of the food on the menu is fried, and it seems like the ventilation isn’t working that well. The next morning, all of the clothes I wore to the bar smelled of oil. This feels like a pretty serious safety hazard, so I’m hesitant to recommend this place even though the concept and some of the execution rocks.

The 7 of us had a wonderful night here! Staff are awesome and provide warm service! As others said it is a little hard to find, it’s several stories up, the entrance at street level is a small hanging sign! Located on the izakaya alley way. So many games to play! Many have English and Japanese explanations. 500 yen flat fee for game play with no time limit. **The fish and chips are banging** <- A New Zealander’s approval. The other food is banging too. And they have soy milk! Whoop whoop

The Hearth is a cozy little game bar with great drinks and food options. Now mind you, the main downside is the price; things are a little pricey, so I guess it's like a cafe in that sense, but with large, game-friendly tables. If you're like me and you don't really drink, try one of the milkshakes (I got coconut) or a nice tea (but not in Summer, because it's hot). The food is good as well, but again a tad pricey. They have Monday Munchies, in which they feature a special menu item or items for a limited time only. I got to have a Mongolian dish called HuuShuur? which was quite good! One more thing to watch out for: the space is quite small so it can get full very easily, especially on holidays and weekends!

Awesome, friendly staff with some great Irish accents! Grab yourself a beer or cocktail, play some board games (recommend the jenga), and have a great time! Climb 3 flights of stairs to get here. 👍🏼

Premier place for relaxing, playing board or card games, drinking, eating and having a good chat at the bar or chilling in the gorgeous roof garden. Seasonal events are phenomenal fun if you're in town for one, but the menu is the star for me. Way better than it need be - great tastes at good prices, with weekly specials that never disappoint. A constant in my own routine, and can say with confidence that every staff member is great for both company and assistance, whether you're looking to learn a new game or get hammered on something that deceptively delicious. For that, the Nat20 has you covered, and every bartender has their own version of this critical liver hit. Long opening hours (12-12) make this easy to incorporate into a day in the city or a night out. Try both ;) Edit: finally open again after COVID shutdowns!

Loved it . We got drinks and played a number of board games. There are so many different board games to choose from, they have games in English and Japanese. There are games of all difficulties and number of players. We ended up playing four new games, it was so fun! Highly recommend

Great bar run by really interesting characters! Good food and drink but it's the board game selection that makes this place amazing. They have lots of good events (movie nights on the rooftop) and it's really cozy and a great friendly atmosphere for Japanese and all types of foreigners alike to meet each other and have fun! Great place to take a group of 4-6 to relax and enjoy a night of board games. So much fun, highly recommend visiting to practise English or get information about Japan from locals

The Hearth is hands down my second favorite place to be, besides my own home. The proprietor is an amazing guy and all the employees are the best. Soooooooo many games to play for a reasonable 500¥ fee. Best in Osaka, nay, all of Japan.

Perfect little stop to unwind, play a few board games with a drink & snack. Highly recommend rolling the Nat 20 as it's made special by whomever is manning the bar that night. They have a WALL of games loaded with goodies of all difficulties and game lengths. This nerd haven is very welcoming to any tourists in the area, especially if you need a break from using Google translate to speak with anyone.

Found this place by complete accident and oh boy - best accident of my life. The bar has two staff members, Jake and Vivi, they welcomed us in, talked to us throughout the evening and kept us entertained. The space is EXACTLY the kind of things I love, board games, DnD and other nerdy references. Jake is an incredibly knowledgeable chef who knows what he's doing and communicates it with passion and personality. Their cocktails are great, the menu is wonderful. I wish I could come here every night!

Utterly fantastic MUST VIST place for board gamers in Osaka. Charming knowledgable staff, cosy and wlecoming atmopshere and SO MANY games! There is no better deal on paying to play in Kansai, trust me I have looked! Not to mention the excellent food, brilliant creative cocktails and all the great events held over the year. One of the best afternoons I ever spent in Osaka was playing round after round of Modern art with two good friends here while enjoying food and dirnk the whole day long.

Do you ever fantasise about those medieval inns where you can rest when you’re weary from your travels, everyone is just friendly and chill and the innkeeper serves you hearty meals and refreshing drinks? This is the place. The Prancing Pony without the Ringwraiths. We spent a full day enjoying multiple boardgames (they have a ton of great games) and food / drinks. Exactly what we needed after constant sightseeing and hiking.

That's my second time visiting, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere (both indoors and at the roof). I also think the drink options and food are great! But the service was a bit confusing and especially the female staff was especially rude. She ignored the requests to take the order and when we went to the counter to order she was not polite either.

We stumbled upon this place by accident. Got greeted by chatty and friendly staff. Decent variety of drink options for a good price and lots of board games available to play.

Loved my kangaroo burger! My friend had the chicken parm and it looked so good I wanted to eat both! The atmosphere is relaxed and nerdy. The game selection is huge. And there is a cool rooftop area. The staff is friendly and really funny!

We had a great experience and stayed here for around 3 hours playing games, eating great food and having coffee and a drink. The place has a really nice ambiance, music and really great service. Can definitely recommend!

Came in for a few drinks and the staff were so welcoming and certainly know their way round a cocktail or two, definitely recommend paying a visit if you're passing through Osaka.

The location is near exit 9 from namba station midosuji line. They have a lot of good games and they serve snacks and meals at the place. Use of all games is inclusive in the entrance fee of JPY500, and there is no time limit in using the games. The only problem in the place is the ventilation. Smoke gets in your eyes when you play.

Such a great spot. Great food, cold beer and board games both retro and current. The boozy milkshake seems pretty popular.

Great little spot. I don't think there is anything like it in all Japan. Happy to be wrong! The Spaghetti Bolognese was pretty good (great texture) but the cheese cake was really amazing and a must have. The boardgame selection is very very very good. Will go again.

I have been meaning to come for 3 years. They have a massive selection of games that I hope to come back and play. Having sampled Jake's cooking before I went for their Xmas special and it tasted fabulous. Excellent value for money too. Good service from friendly staff and a decent amount of space. Planning to come back. The stairway entrance is on the Izakaya alley. Look for the small sign on the right if coming from Namba Nankai station.

👍👍 Go to the basement floor which has all kinds of food stalls and specialty stores. Go there an hour before closing and most of the packaged food items will be discounted like 30% or Y300 off. It’s great deal for budget travel. They also have very good yogurt drinks and other bakery items.

👍👍 An amazing dinning experience available in different locations throughout Japan, but we enjoyed ours most in Osaka. Quick and tasty, but take your time enjoying the savory cuts you get to cook to your own delight at your table. Very friendly and efficient staff. Some waiting likely during dinning...
