Don’t book this hotel if you cherish your money ROOM: 1. Air con is in 90s and not functioning, set to 15 degree calculus but feels like 30, because the AC is come from a cupboard! And that’s the only ventilation in the room. See the photo and you will understand why I can barely breathe in the room during breezing autumn. A terrible experience for sleeping. 2. Suspect there are bed bugs in the room, feels itchy after one night. 3. The room is like back in 90s hotel which has no renovation at all, quite spacious but with a weird layout which didn’t make good use of space. 4. Although the room looks tidy, it has a weird smell, especially in the toilet, maybe it is too old? Or they didn’t clean the carpet. SERVICE: 1. Poor service from the reception, trying to ask them to help to call a museum to see if it is open but the guy simply refused. It is not acceptable if you use Japanese standard. 2. Since the AC is not functioning, tried to call front desk for help at night for many times but no one pick up the phone. A normal hotel should have 24 hours front desk. Totally unacceptable for a hotel. LOCATION: Only reachable from one train line, despite shuttle bus available to JR Osaka station, it still very inconvenient if you want to go out for city explore. Given this price, there are much more better options in the city, not worth a try at all.

I was not happy with my stay there. The room had what appeared to be the world’s loudest fridge, AC was also not working/only provided heating. I had initially booked a room there because of the included gym but the rate is ¥6600 per session - imho excessive. Advantages: shuttle service to Osaka station is quite useful, some rooms have a great view on the higher floors. Overall: not recommended

I'm very disappointed. The advertising about amenities is false. No pool, gym, aren't available, or at least you have to pay separately. People at the front desk are not willing to help. The room doesn't have any coffee station, and the fridge doesn't work. Nobody speaks English. Location is not the best, but the hotel has transportation to the train station, but it starts too late, as everything there. In general, I do not recommend this hotel that is not friendly for tourists.

This hotel is a scam. I thought I paid for a 4 star hotel but the room we got is equivalent to Motel 6 in the US. The bathroom has plastics all around it and reminds me of a portal potty. The front desk is not helpful at all. We told them we are not happy with the room, so please adjust our bill or move us to a better room or give us free breakfast or gym access to justify the high price. They said there is nothing they can do and cancellation cost would be 100% of the 3 nights fee. What??? That's daylight robbery. I had to take out the confirmation email which clearly stated that cancellation is at most the first night's charge. We paid for $300 for one night which I still think it's too much for what we got. After we got out of that hotel, we moved to a 5 star hotel (Imperial Hotel) with a view and breakfast for the same price. Avoid this hotel at all cost please. What a fraud!

The hotel itself is in a good location, but the decor is quite dated, and other than a lovely Canadian lady at the front desk, the staff were stand offish and generally unwilling to help. The biggest disappointment was the amenities. We chose this hotel for the pool and gym, but don’t be fooled. This hotel does NOT actually have a pool or gym. They do have these facilities on site, however they are not owned by the hotel and there are exorbitant additional costs to use. Pool: 3300 Yen per person per day Gym (which also has a pool): 6600 Yen PER DAY! If you visit the website, or any of the hotel booking sites, the main photos include the pool and the gym as amenities. This is false advertising, and genuinely unethical. We’ve stayed in incredible hotels across Japan, unfortunately this isn’t one of them. I couldn’t recommend a hotel that is running such a deliberate bait and switch.

WORST hotel I have ever been to. This is a SCAM! If I could I would rate this a ZERO. This hotel advertises amenities such as a pool and gym but does not even own these facilities. If you want to use either one it is a cost of $50 per person per day. In addition, no common area space, no coffee or tea provided in the room, nobody who speaks English or can properly communicate but most importantly none of the staff is kind or cooperative. The bedrooms have two separate beds in a small room when it’s meant for a couple and the bed and sheets are very bad quality for the price of this hotel and the AC and mini fridge does not work properly. The shuttle provided begins its service relatively late if you want to start your tourism early and the location of the hotel is very far from everything. Lastly, everything is completely OVERPRICED! 2 coffee and one pancakes over 50 dollars?! Ridiculous especially for Japan. This was an awful experience.

It seems ridiculous that some reviewers are paying cheap prices for Osaka standards for this hotel and is expecting Conrad rooms lol. Do people not look at the pictures before they book? This hotel is OLD and has a long of history, which is why it’s one of the most iconic hotels in Osaka and during holidays, it’s packed with Japanese families. For the price I paid for, even as low as 60 USD a night a month ago, I have no complaints. Especially if you’re a Diamond member, they do their best to upgrade you. I was upgraded to a bigger room once and a suite another time. If you opt for the free drink vouchers as a welcome gift, I highly recommend using it at the bar in the basement. The bar makes you feel like you went back in time but it’s such a luxury nostalgic feeling. The vibe along with the live performance was really making me feel like the price was well worth it. They even have a karaoke room too which is unheard of nowadays in a hotel. 7-11 is also located in the basement and is connected to the train station. The only bad thing is that you have to pay 6,000 yen for gym/pool access. Do not complain about this place before even doing your research. People do not book this hotel because of its location, since its location in an area with nothing around.

Good hotel with old rooms. They are going thru construction so I hope next time it would be more modern. Staff and the lounge is very nice with a scenic wall while you have coffee. Pros: amenities are very nice. There's a 7/11 in the basement and the building connects to the train. There's a lot of shops in the basement. Con: rooms are extremely dated. It was bigger than I expected but still dated. The room gets extremely hot and the only way to sleep is to turn the air purifier on all night. Air Con dial next to the bed only made the room hotter. No coffee and only a electric kettle in room but there is a 7/11. Overall I enjoyed the stay but might wait until Reno is complete.

The hotel itself is a nice building but the rooms are small and dark. Although pricy it does not include the facilities (ie. Gym) in its cost. The facilities also close early and open late. On top of this the staff at the front desk were not particularly friendly or helpful.

This might be the best place to stay if you're in Osaka. Prices range from affordable to expensive suites. Breakfast is superb. The room is spacious with lots of storage spaces. Plus, there's a free shuttle every 6 to 15 minutes going to Osaka Station, another plus, a great view from your window overlooking the river. Staff are very helpful and friendly! Overall, fantastic stay! ❤️

OLD. AGED. Musty smelling. We paid 8 nights. Window is sealed and the air conditioner only functioning as heater. So either let it stuffy or turning on the heater. We couldn’t fall asleep due to 30+ Celsius degrees. Called front desk and they couldn’t make any moves to solve the problem. This ain’t a 4 star hotel as my understanding. Super ugly drawing like child paint on the wall, we thought someone damaged the wall. Terrible location.

A newish looking hotel with nice decors. The room offered to me was spacious and clean. And it was cleaned thoroughly every day I stayed there. The receptionists were courteous and helpful, and speak more english than an average japanese person. It's a bit far from downtown or the osaka subway station, though.

My son and I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights while visiting Osaka . So it's not overly expensive so I was not expecting alot but upon arrival we were given room 966 and well all I can say is a hostel would be better, like a room from if one can recall the movie ," The Bates Motel " . Firstly no air conditioning and Japan right now is so humid none at all and Secondly the note on our table stating that the window cleaner would be cleaning our window at 9 next morning which was looking directly at our bed ,so close he could wave at us 🙈 !!! Well NO !!!! . Thirdly the bathrooms in both rooms tiny and so outdated and if you left the door open there is a sign to say you may set the alarm off 🤣. After I stated this to reception they did change us to the 11th floor to a bigger room which did have air conditioning but then we requested room service breakfast as we were on a tight schedule and we were told due to covid there have been cut backs to the hotel so no breakfast to the room. What supposedly 4 star hotel does not do room service especially in the mornings . Lastly we requested help for a car to show us the sights ,well the car came but had no clue where to take my son and I and frankly he was really rude!!... Osaka is beautiful though but I would not return to this hotel .

The room was spacious enough for 4 people. It had all the amenities that we needed for our 2 night stay. The only issues we had were the high price to go swimming and the kids goggles. For our 9 and 15 year old to swim plus kids goggles, we paid over $70. Also, the room has a book that lists what the hotel has as far as good and other things. The book says from 9pm-7am there are limited meals available. When we called to order room service a little before 10pm the front desk said they stopped serving food. We traveled back to the hotel, not stopping for food while under the assumption that we'd be able to order room service that their hotel book lists is available. We were told the only thing available is the convenience store around the corner. The problem wasn't that they stopped serving food even though their book said it was available during the time we wanted. The problem was that their book says it was available AND IT WASN'T!!! I would stay there again, but plan better for our food options as they clearly don't tell you that they stop serving food earlier than what they list in the book that was in our room.

It's not a long walk to the bigger train stations, but there is a train station right below the hotel! The views were great from our room, and generally had a good experience. Taking 1 star away because I feel like the hotel charged too much for what we got. We paid for a 2 bedroom hotel, and charged us for having 3 people in the room. This made the price per night not worth staying. We would have gone somewhere cheaper had we known they charge for having 3 people in a two bed hotel room. The pool was not included in our stay, and I feel like for how much we paid, it should be included. The interior is a bit dated, but makes it feel more elegant. I do LOVE the pastry shop by the front desk, they have some incredible breads/sweets. There are quite a few restaurants options in the hotel, but for the cost.. we ate out on the town. Overall, not a bad hotel.. and would stay here again if it's just the two of us.

Service is everything and they did a fantastic job. They allowed us to upgrade and on to of that. The head management personally delivered a complimentary birthday gift. I would have given this a perfect score but i feel the cleaning crew could have been more observant. I won't point out anything because it could have been a hit or miss. We will be back and we highly recommend.

Read other comments, and I think they are mostly unfair. The hotel is good for its price, and one can certainly see it had its peak time back then. One of few things in the room I do wanna emphasize that I consider absurd, though: the room is relatively small BUT it’s Osaka; the hotel and the rooms are old, but they are definitely making some minor updates(eg. TV). However, I especially do not like the fact that their A/C is so old that it can only be set as cold or hot by the hotel, with no temperature control feature at all(you can only turn it on or off and adjust the wind speed). The bathroom also gives me a 90s working class Japanese apartment vibe. So the hotel wishes to continue its effort to keep the hotel in good shapes, you should consider starting from those two aspects.

Not sure how this place is rated 4 stars. The rooms are tiny and old. The aircon doesn't work properly. Furthermore, I chose the place so I may use the sauna and gym but was not allowed to do so as I've got a couple of small tattoos for my children. I was not told this beforehand. Then they wanted to charge me a ridiculous fee for a late checkout as I needed to engage in a meeting with my PA in Australia.

A spacious lobby, just next to Osaka International Convention Centre. The service was outstanding. Room is just good. Most importantly, Righa hotel provides FREE Shuttle service to Universal Studio Japan (7 am in the morning). Other than that, another facility is dropped off and picked up from Osaka Station.

The hotel itself is very nice and is in a great location. We were very comfortable with both the layout, and the arrangement of our room which was lovely and clean. The housekeeping staff were extremely on top of it and quite thorough. The whole team was relentlessly accommodating. We would definitely consider for our next stay.

We stayed at the Rihga Royal for a few nights last week (November 2023). The rooms are quite dated and old looking but very very clean. Our bathroom had a bath tub so if you need an accessible shower, ensure that the front desk staff knows that when you check in. The toilet was a lovely Japanese Toto toilet with a seat warmer, bidet, and the works. We loved it. We had a family room (4 travellers: 2 adults and 2 kids) which included 4 single beds and a sitting area with couch and desk. The beds were comfortable, linens clean, ample towels and slippers and robes provided. The lobby is huge with a lounge area in the rear that overlooks a waterfall. The staff is pleasant and very helpful. In the lobby there is a bakery called Melissa where you can purchase things like baked goods and coffee. At B2 there is a well stocked 7-11 and a number of restaurants and shops. The 7-11‘s hours of operation are 7am to 10pm. We grabbed something and had a quick breakfast here most mornings. The location is mediocre but ideal for the price. There is a hotel shuttle that takes you to Osaka Station. It runs every 6 minutes and is clean. Osaka Station is grand and beautiful. Lots of shops, places to eat and people watching. Our room safe was not working, so we held onto our passports which worked out well since most of the shopping that we did required a passport to shop tax free. All in all it was a good stay.

Had a brief stay here when visiting Osaka, it is a very large and fancy hotel. Luxury, almost in an overbearing way. We arrived quite hot, tired and disheveled as it is a long walk from the station to the hotel (I believe the tram / train services were not operational that day), but also Osaka travel is a lot harder than in Tokyo (less English available). The staff were quite brisk, and in the swimming / spa area there were some sharp comments (due to some difficult to understand rules, which we tried to follow) The room however was huge, extremely luxurious and comfortable. It was extremely high up, so offered a view over most of Osaka. Plenty of space, with a desk, great bath and toilets. There were not many places to eat around, unfortunately, but perhaps we were less informed to Osaka than Tokyo. I would recommend if you are more aware of Osaka, and if you like old-style luxury.

This hotel is located north of the city center near the museum of arts. There's a bus shuttle provided by the hotel to and from Osaka Station. You can also get there by underground or by bus. In the room you will find the bed, a safe, a big TV and a kettle. The room also has AC and a humidifier. The bedding is rather nice even if it's old. In the bathroom (not a sealed unit), you will find a washlet and a bath/shower. The pressure and temperature of the water are good and the products provided to wash yourself are nice. TIP: there's a 7-eleven in B1F

I loved this hotel . They had a wonderful shuttle bus from the subway station direct to the hotel . The driver was very kind and very professional. I loved the lobby and the decor was stunning. The hotel is in an area with lots to see and do . My room was very comfortable and spacious. Some customers noted that the A/C wasn't working but my room was . I will be sure to stay here the next time I'm in the area . Thanks to all the hard working staff . Your amazing . Robert Saka , from Canada 🇨🇦

Would give a zero star if there’s an option for zero star. Do not stay in this hotel! It’s the worst hotel ever that we’ve stayed in Japan, and totally not worth the price we’ve paid. - Hotel rooms are very very old, like in the 80’s motel, carpeted floors that are very dusty. Air conditioning is not working, they have a very old A/C that is placed in a wooden box on the floor (and looks ancient and barely functions, see photo below), very hot and humid room that we had trouble falling asleep. We were told that we could call the concierge if we need any help, but as we tried calling to get a standing fan at night, we have called multiple times with no one picking up. Very poor customer service for a hotel that claimed to be 4 stars. And we gave up and had to just fall asleep in the hot stuffy room. - Male staff at concierge was very unhelpful and unfriendly. We sought the male staff’s help for helping to call a tourist attraction to check availability as we did not have Japan phone number and staff just refused. - Location wise it is far from everything. Far from attractions and busy streets. Honestly could not think of any plus points staying at this hotel. Would strongly recommend travellers to think twice (and thrice) before even considering to stay here!

From the looks it is a grand hotel but kinda dated. The first room we got was a double room which was definitely small and had a very creepy drawing on the wall. We upgraded to another room which was better ( Added 3000 yen per day). Location is great and close to Shinsaibashi. Nakanoshima station is right outside the hotel.

The hotel is good and vast. But the staff lacked basic courtesy. They will charge you extra for everything - parking, gym, swimming pool, sitting in the lounge. There is no space for families to wait during checkin checkout. Plus side: location is very good.

    1. Room is very old, zero decoration and bad layout(bathroom and shower room are far away from each other). Could hear the noise from upstairs and next door easily. Temperature of AC couldn’t not be changed. 2. EV charging spot of car was full, couldn’t get the car charged. 3. I email the hotel that it will be my fiancé’s birthday so it’d be great if they could arrange a better room( I’m IHG platinum member). Room was upgraded by 1 level I guess because no one told me anything about the grade of my room, and they changed my room from one bed to twins room which was not what we wanted. 4. Booked it on IHG app 2 weeks in advance, it took my 2.2K, and the rate of checkin day was half of it. 5. They charge 1500 Yen for car parking.

Went here for a few days during a vacation stay in Osaka. The hotel itself is daunting with it's size and apparent beauty. We ordered a superior room, which is sort of a mid-tier room. Quite sizeable, and good value for the money. However; we aren't the target guests for this hotel. Even though we were aiming for quality, size and a tiny bit of luxury on an otherwise tiresome journey, what we found was a place where the personell are very attentive and nice, but the offerings of the hotel is quite poor for our price point. Mid-tier still means you must pay 3300 Yen for using the pool - and even then are you forced to doing stretches in the pool on lines that a tall europeean person can barely swim in. The rest of the pool is reserved for some Royal membership club or some nonsense. So even when paying quite a lot for using the pool, you don't get a very good experience. If you want to use the weight room, that's another 3300 Yen. This is for each day, for each person. If you're three people on your trip and you want to make use of the pool, you need to dish out 10.000 yen every day. The breakfast is equally expensive at around 6000 yen per person/day, but I can't speak of the quality here - because we simply opted out. So know what you're buying. This hotel charges a lot for extras.

You can judge by looking at the videos. Pekin duck was authentic, roast beef delicious and tender, the smoked pork wrapped in leaf was amazing (reminds me of the Hawaiian hurried pork). Delicacies were also all over the place and first class desserts. Drink as much as you can for 2 hours was also nice without hurries and with French red wine for the red meats ... can have a gin Tonic at the end to and many other beverages including sake and shochu (potato and wheat). Great job! Happy new Year!

the hospitality is great, the room is clean and neat. Even the staff is pretty fluent with english which really helps me a lot. This hotel is very convenient too, have many restaurants and gift shops inside, convenient store at the basement. Also located near Japan post and station. The Wi-Fi is great, even they provide Wi-Fi for gaming. There is a free bus that will get you to Osaka Station or take you from Osaka Station

I am writing this review after having stayed for two nights with two more nights to go. There are so many things I'm not satisfied with. Check-in was horrendous. Such a long queue at 3PM, I had to wait for over 30 minutes before it was my turn. There is a big charge to use the pool, it is not free. They don't even have a microwave anywhere so don't even bother bringing home take-out food. The rooms are not that spacious for a claimed 4 star hotel. Location is terrible, far from everything. Finally, what was a deal breaker for me is its safety. It has been raining outside in Osaka for two days straight, and I literally just slipped because of water on the ground in the lobby. As a result, my left knee is heavily bruised. This is very bad for me because I have scoliosis, sciatica, and other medical bone conditions. Please wipe and dry your public spaces so your clients do not fall like me. I don't feel safe in your hotel.

RIHGA hotel was great. It had so many great facilities in the hotel inc a gourmet food shop in the lobby, and a conbini, multiple restaurants & the Osaka location for Fritz Hansen in the basement! The location was really good as we could walk to fantastic local restaurants & experience a good Osaka nightlife! The room was really large, very clean, had two bathrooms and was very comfortable. They had a shuttle bus that takes you to & from Osaka Station which was really handy. Would happily stay there again.

A really nice hotel with fairly spacious rooms. The price when I stayed was under 10,000 yen for a large room with 2 beds and a large spacious bathroom. It is a western size hotel room and design at a very reasonable price. Similar to the level of the imperial hotel at 30% cheaper price.

👍👍 Go to the basement floor which has all kinds of food stalls and specialty stores. Go there an hour before closing and most of the packaged food items will be discounted like 30% or Y300 off. It’s great deal for budget travel. They also have very good yogurt drinks and other bakery items.
