I loved this place so much! We didn’t mind waiting for a seat because we could have a drink and the atmosphere was really good. It was completely different to everywhere else we have eaten in Japan. We loved the choices available (especially for vegetarians/vegans), the cheap drinks (self service, all 180¥), and the wonderful owner. We also appreciated the music and the vibe. So much fun to be here. It was like if Shopsin’s ran a Japanese restaurant in Berlin. I’d come back to Osaka just to visit this place.

My favorite OKOnomiyaki restaurant bar in Osaka. The Yakitori was so good. Their No. 1 popular OKOnomiyaki was a bomb too! It is worth the money, their OKOnomiyaki is pretty cheap and super good. We only ordered small size, but it looked like Large size! The restaurant bar is so cute filled with feedback stickers. They have Vegan and English menus too! The staff (she's the owner i guess) speaks good English as well. She's cute and really entertaining 👍🏻

I’m giving it a 5 because of the owner’s dedication, hospitality, kindness, and positive energy! She is the only one handling the whole restaurant from cooking to everything, and she keeps the smile and great vibe the WHOLE time, which I really respect her hard work, she is such a business women. The restaurant has a very cool vibe, and the food is delicious. She has an open bar for only 2 dollars!! There is a waiting line but she provided water and some nuts to survive hahhahaaa, So I would say she and her restaurant deserve a 5 so more people can be attracted and enjoy the experience! The only couple things I would change are the fan system, the whole restaurant smelled so heavy which made it hard to breath. And I know she had in her signs that she previously hired more staff and because it didn’t change the speed and made her to increase the price so she went back to solo management, but I think she could easily get one more person for clean up! The whole restaurant needs cleaning up. The cooking area was so dirty, she didn’t have gloves or anything, was touching coins, and then touching cheese and everything!!!

Loved everything about this restaurant! It’s such a cute little space that was decorated with love. A customizable vegan/vegetarian menu in Japan is so rare. We got the vegan gyoza, veggie yakisoba and okonomiyaki. All delicious! The owner is also possibly the sweetest person ever. We speak very little Japanese but she came over and chatted with us about our trip even though she was very busy. A must visit in Osaka!!

Wow!!! This place is a little gem in Osaka! We absolutely loved our experience eating and drinking here. Shiho (the owner) runs the whole place on her own, and boy does she do an amazing job! It's such a fun space to eat at and connect with people. The food was absolutely outstanding! We will definitely go back again. Ohhhh and we loved the 200 yen make your own drinks station! So cool!

I cannot recommend this venue enough, no language has enough words. The perfect place to eat for vegans and meat eaters! It is small but we had no issue with getting a table. The food is very filling and generous (medium is huge). The service is immaculate, one waitress who takes care of everything and prepared the best okonomiyaki (vegan and normal) our group has ever had. Self service drinks for 180¥ (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) were amazing and kept us quenched and vibing the best atmosphere provided in Osaka.

This one breaks my heart as the owner is a fantastic, sweet and hard working woman that runs it ALL by herself!!! She is mega friendly, apologetic for the long waits and truly makes up for what otherwise is a poor meal. I know this is an unpopular opinion but for us it was definetely not worth the hours waiting to get a meal here. I truly appreciate the effort of anybody trying to run a vegan business in Japan and truly liked her energy. But food wise we didn't understood or agreed with this place hype. :-(

This place is so unique and fun! My wife and I stopped in randomly and were so satisfied with the food and experience. It’s actually impressive this place is run by one person. She is very welcoming and funny. You can grab a beer or make your own drink for 200 yen while waiting for a table. There are multiple floors and a roof top. Each room is unique and full of messages from people visiting from all over the world. Definitely check out this charming yet punky restaurant if you are in the area!

Shiho is a one women show who owns, and runs this amazing little restaurant all by herself. There is a vegetarian/vegan menu. I got the vegan okonomiyaki while my husband got one with meat, both were delicious. The vegan gyoza was one of the best I’ve ever had. They have an English menu and Shiho speaks English, she was so nice and chatted to us while she was cooking. Can’t wait for our next Osaka trip just to come here!

My new favourite restaurant bar in Osaka. The vibe is so cool 🤘Cosy homemade vibe with punk music playing. And the vegan menu is awesome and one of a kind! I've been in Japan for 3 years and first time I've found this kind of vegan Okonomiyaki menu (and big!) The owner also chatted with us loads! Definitely go check it out for awesome vibes and food✌️ しほさん、ありがとうございました!🤘

YOU HAVE TO GO HERE. I’m celiac and dairy intolerant, and have had an amazing time with so many options - and Shiho clearly cares a lot and makes extra care to ensure there’s no cross contamination. It’s the first time I’ve been able to have Gyoza or okonmiyaki in Japan (and we’ve been to Tokyo, hakone, Kyoto, and Osaka) and I’ve loved it. Absolutely delicious. And this place is awesome, Shiho is the best - running this place by herself taking orders and cooking delicious meals. She cares so much about dietary requirements and even has made her own gluten free soy sauce equivalent which my friend who isn’t gluten free told me it tastes just as good as the real thing (along with the gf gyoza she tried compared with the “normal” ones she’s had) If I lived in Osaka I’d easily be here every week. I even ordered seconds and thirds of the gf gyoza it was so good. (Would definitely recommend using the tobasco sauce) And added bonus is the drinks! It’s just 200 yen for any drink you want to make yourself - which could be a pint of ashai if you’re not gf, or a strong vodka ginger ale, spicy Bloody Mary, gin and tonic, or whatever you can imagine - which is just £1.10. Madness. Go out of your way to visit this place!

Friendly owner who spreads joy and offers great vegan food. Truly a genki girl. Food was a bit pricey but still fine for a tourist city. Great for vegetarian tourists and a cool place in general.

Huge pro tip: go before she opens! We went on a rainy Thursday night, soon after open, and had to take a ticket to wait for entry. It took 2.5 HOURS. We were group number 11! This isn’t a slight towards the owner, but just know this is a very popular place to eat. The food is fantastic, we loved our meals and the atmosphere of the space. It’s absolutely worth waiting for, but if you’re group number 25+ you might not get in. We met some with tickets number 29 and 37. Yikes 😬

In the heart of Osaka town, There lies a place to chow down, OKO is the name, it's known, For dishes you won't forget when you're home. Their specialty, the okonomiyaki, It's a must-try, don't be picky, Each one comes in a medium size, Enough for two, no need to supersize. The hamburg cheese, it's oh so juicy, It's a delight that's never choosy, The beef ribs, they melt in your mouth, A dish that's definitely worth the shout. To wash it down, we had a highball, It's a perfect match, never a miss call, Whiskey lemon sour is also a hit, A refreshing drink that complements the kit. The staff is welcoming and kind, Making you feel like you're in a bind, You won't want to leave this cozy place, A spot that you'll remember with grace. So if you're ever in Osaka, Go to OKO, it's no faux pas, Your taste buds will thank you later, For a meal that's anything but a hater.

love everything about this place. run by a woman and she is super sweet and fun! got the vegan okonomoyaki (vegan cheese too)! loved being able to try traditional dishes made vegan. you get a lot off food so i would recommend splitting it with someone else. the vibes of this place were amazing and so FUN!

Osaka hidden gem! Very cool and quirky place with an amazing cook who runs the whole restaurant. Tasty vegetarian okonamiyaki and gyoza which felt lighter on the stomach than expected. Great choice of vegan/vegetarian but also meat options, which worked great for a group of mixed meat eaters and vegetarians. Very excitingly you can make your own drink for 200 yen and there's an amazing choice of liquors, spirits and mixers. I think it does get quite busy between 7-9pm, however we went at 10pm and it was not too busy at all. If I'm ever in Osaka again I will definitely revisit <3

One of the best places I've visited in my two weeks here in Japan. It's a one-woman operation, so I had to wait in line for a while before getting my order in. The price for what you get is great. The only vegan okonimiyaki I've seen in Japan, and it was very good. Make sure to grab one of the vegan mayo bottles in your room. There's also vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere and the self-serve bar. I've never seen anything like it. 200-yen drinks. I made myself a legit dark-and-stormy, and a can of jelly plum wine. I think there was 4 stories of seating, and rooftop seating. With fun scribblings and notes and things to read all over the walls. I don't really understand how this place exists

This place is amazing. I waited in a long line to get in on a weekend night and it was definitely worth it. The vegan okonomiyaki is amazing, the vegan cheese used is so good too. It was so good that I decided to eat here again the next day! I only had two nights in Osaka and there were other vegan options I had pinned but I felt my stomach telling me to come back. Shiho is so kind and generous too. I realized we did not get our tofu dish the night before because I never picked it up. We explained the situation and she was understanding and gave us an extra, totally cool! The ambience is amazing, decor is charming in a personal way that you just have to experience. I really enjoy the music, the playlist is ❤️‍🔥. Definitely the most unique experience I had in Japan and will remember for years. I want to come back to Osaka soon to come eat Shiho's food again

  • 5/5 Léo H. 7 months ago on Google
Absolutely great. The food is awesome and the place is run by one single person. There was a line but it was absolutely worth it. She has many vegetarian and vegan options and also takes care of food allergies. Highly recommend eating there.

I’M SO IN LOVE!! 💘The BEST okonomiyaki experience ever. There may be a wait, but it is SOOO worth it. First, there’s free hot tea while you sit and wait, and ¥200 drinks you make yourself in a handsome corner. Then, you find out, this whole place is run by ONE person, Shiho, who is an absolute delight!!! She’s designed such a thoughtful experience, with so much color and handmade touches in every corner. 🌈 We had the vegetarian okonomiyaki w potato, mushroom, spinach, carrot & cheese and it was 🤤🤯🤩🫠 DIVINE!!! We also had the Teriyaki Chicken, and it was some of the BEST chicken we’ve ever had. Perfectly tender and juicy. This place blew us away!!! 🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜

Vibes of this place are awesome, Shiho is a one woman show and works tirelessly throughout the night. Great energy and so kind. It can get pretty busy depending on time of day and if it’s a weekend or not. But have some patience, clean up after yourself and enjoy the food! It’s pretty smoky on all floors, except the rooftop, so pick your outfit wisely if that’s something that matters to you.

  • 5/5 Aditya P. 5 months ago on Google
Osaka style okonomiyaki! Plenty of vegetarian, vegan options and English menu available. This entire store is run by a single woman and she manages everything from taking orders, billing to cooking. She speaks English too and customizes the dishes as per your requirement. It is very tourist friendly. Highly recommended 👌

  • 5/5 S H. 5 months ago on Google
The curry vegan gyoza are amazing. The best we had in Japan - everyone get these! The Okonomiyaki was lovely, smoky flavour, and we also had the soba and standard gyoza which were good. Really filling and great portion sizes (the normal Okonomiyaki size is more than enough for two people if you're getting other items). The owner is a one woman band!! Her poor voice!! She has a microphone up to the different floors so you know your number. She hasn't hired anyone else because she doesn't want to increase costs. Honestly, I'd happily pay and extra few yen per meal to help her have extra staff as the food is cheap (based on current exchange rate). There can be a wait and it is very smoky in the foyer but, but it was fine upstairs as she asks that the window be kept open slightly. Drinks are pour your own. Really good value, would definitely recommend. The place is also very unique!!! Punk vibes. Please note they also have meat options too (but the focus is on vegan).

  • 5/5 Ophelia M. 6 months ago on Google
Hands down, the food is one of the most delicious I had in Japan and one of the rare vegan options! But what’s truly amazing is the shop owner Shiho! She deserves an award for her concept, everything is playful and kind of „do it yourself“ like a tap where you get your own beer, mix cocktails etc. so she can purely focus on making the most amazing food! Highly recommend and absolutely special!

  • 5/5 Kahoo V. 6 months ago on Google
Don’t need more praise from me, the reviews have said it all. Simply impressive by the cook. Expect freedom and no service, free-style ! A contrast to what typical Japanese restaurant would do. However, being able to find Vegetarian option in Japan is already a luxury. She also clears all your doubts on all the weird things about the restaurant when you read all the little notes in the store.

  • 5/5 Sutirtha D. 1 year ago on Google
Very cool little okonomiyaki/yakisoba place. Food is great. The drinks are all 180 & self service which was cool. Food portions are much larger than japanese standard . Small size is enough for a single person. The host has an amazing energy! It's also open pretty late. It also has vegan only options with various levels of vegetarianism to pick from.

  • 5/5 Allison H. 6 months ago on Google
I loved this place so much. Not only was the food delicious but the overall experience was great as well. There was a bit of a line to wait in but you can pay ahead for a self service drink while you wait in line. There are multiple floors to eat in (and the funniest bathroom I've ever been). This was my first time trying okonomiyaki and it was insanely delicious. My travel partner is gluten free so she appreciated all the gluten free options (including GF gyoza which she was able to try for the first time). We loved everything about this place and definitely would visit again.

  • 5/5 Jeanine C. 6 months ago on Google
Absolutely LOVED this location! Love that I had options as a vegetarian and everyone else I was with could order meaty Okonomiyaki as well. All of our dishes were delicious and we loved the atmosphere. We got there about 30 minutes before the restaurant opened and there ended up being a long line after us. HIGHLY recommend if you will be in Osaka!

  • 5/5 Lucas R. 7 months ago on Google
A delicious 1-woman operation. 3 floors to eat on. Vegetarian/vegan forward okonomiyaki. So dang good. Don't be disheartened by the wait, it's very much worth it and honestly won't take too long. Serve your own drinks. Leave a message in your dining area.

  • 5/5 Felix H. 8 months ago on Google
Amazing vegan Okonomiyaki! My top recommendation for Osaka! This restaurant is run by one person and she does a great job! It's a kind of self-service restaurant with a fun interior. Come here early if you don't wanna wait in line.

  • 5/5 Kevin C. 1 year ago on Google
Great Okonomiyaki made with Soy pulp instead of regula flour. Grill chicken is awesome, soft and literally melt in the mouth. Other foods on other table look good too. The air ventilation is great, no odor left on our clothes despite sitting at the counter table. Service is great considering only the lady boss working back and front of house. A great atmosphere there too, like a mini gathering place for friends. Will certainly visit again when coming to Osaka in future, the only draw back is the restaurant is quite small and a bit of sauce/grease left over on edge of counter .

  • 5/5 Raleigh 2 years ago on Google
Super delicious! Fantastic vegan okonomiyaki where you pick 5 vegetables to add from a list. Vegan cheese option is available and definitely recommended. Vegan gyoza were also very tasty and better than average store bought ones. Drinks are also super cheap. Place is pretty small but cozy with a fantastic atmosphere. You might need to wait a bit, but its totally worth it! Cigarette warning, the smoking area is right outside the entrance and if you're sensitive it might be strong.

  • 5/5 A.J. S. 1 year ago on Google
We waited 1 n half hour to finally get our seat at Saturday night, can’t blame much considering they only have around 10 table seats and 5 counter seats, and everything was managed and done by only boss herself, one young lady settle everything from cooking, serving and bill, impressive!! Okonomiyaki is great, different with others as it is gluten free, the vege inside cook just nice and impress us. Yakisoba is nice too, atmosphere is fun and boss is very friendly, 10/10 and recommend to come if you around here.

  • 5/5 B W. 1 year ago on Google
Very good food and service! There is vegetarian & vegan options! Boss is a small size lady, 1 lady operations! She takes order, cook, serve and clear. Impressive! She is very friendly and efficient. The restaurant is very small, counter for 4 persons and 3 small tables. Be prepared to wait for 1.5 hours if you are not 1st few on the queue. But for sure worth the wait. Highly recommended!

  • 5/5 Julian B. 1 year ago on Google
We came here several times and every time it was amazing. The owner runs the place all by herself, she takes the orders, cooks the food, washes the dishes, talks to her guests… everything! And she is super friendly 😊 The vegan and vegetarian Okonomiyaki are delicious, same as the vegan Gyoza. Also, drinks are 180Y! You can enjoy all that in a well decorated cute restaurant. But beware, the place is on high demand! There is a ticket system now, where you can get a number and a QR code. You can scan it to see how many groups are in front of you. I’d say, the wait is worth it 😊

This is one of the best meals I've had in Japan, and is absolutely worth a visit for any vegetarian/vegan! Be prepared for a long wait if you don't show up right at opening; the whole place is run by one very hard-working woman. The atmosphere is really nice and drinks are very cheap. I'll definitely be coming back on my next trip.

  • 5/5 Julius A. 1 year ago on Google
Simply excellent, the best food I have had in Japan during a 16 day holiday. Run by one amazing lady who takes orders, cooks, cleans & takes payment all by herself! That in itself is incredible, however the quality of the food is so good, you can feel the love & passion put into it with every mouthful. Hands down the best veggie food I've had in Japan. Finally all drinks are self serve & only ¥180! This is anything from a pint of Asahi, a cup of sake, wine, ginger beer etc. In my opinion OKO deserves a Michelin Star for the quality and taste of food on offer.

  • 5/5 Justin K. 11 months ago on Google
This is a fantastic place run by the owner. They are very accommodating to vegan and vegetarian diets. Self service drinks are available with an automatic draft beer tap, draft highball, and draft shochu with liqueur to add to taste. Please check in on the tablet when you arrive and see your position in line on the link/QR code. It was a long wait to get a table when I got in line about 45 minutes after they opened but it was worth it. Please help out by bringing your dishes to the bus station (plate return) when you are finished. They also accept tips if you ask for a tip jar when you pay.

First restaurant in Japan where they had a vegetarian and vegan menu to make it easy to order. Shiho's bubbly personality was so contagious and made the experience great. Not to mention the atmosphere of the whole place felt very welcoming and full of love. I strongly recommend everyone to try Oko and especially vegetarian/vegan eaters.

  • 5/5 Sofia A. 8 months ago on Google
Shiho is the only person running the restaurant and her whole personality and the stores atmosphere itself is a reason to come to eat here. The food is amazing and it’s so amazing to have such an extensive menu for vegans and vegetarians! I really enjoyed the meal and want to go there everyday. The make your own drink bar is such a fun addition as well!

  • 5/5 karanveer s. 8 months ago on Google
Shiho has a great okonomiyaki shop! Our food was delicious and we were really happy to be able to support a small business like hers. It's filled with 6 floors of eating space, it tends to get crowded later on so if you want a seat I'd come early! She handles all of the cooking, service and cleaning by herself! So please bring your trays to the first floor when your done eating. What a hustler, the first floor was really hot and humid but she still had great enthusiasm and energy, wish her every success. Hope you are able to rest as well! Best wishes : )

Incredible spot run solo by an absolute powerhouse !!! Open super late - was able to drop in for an 11pm dinner (we went past at 7pm and there was quite a line - but she provides self serve drinks / peanuts while you wait). Everything about this place is fantastic and really thoughtful. The vegan okonomiyaki was so good! Don’t know how she runs this place by herself, but she’s absolutely killing it ! Thanks. :)

It was my first time experiencing a restaurant with a concept like this. The owner, who is very friendly and full of energy, runs the business alone, so most of the business is self-service. Very reasonable price and excellent taste. I intend to visit again and would like to recommend it.

This is an awesome place: cozy, beautiful and the food is just AMAZING. It’s gluten free and there are both vegetarian and vegan options. The menu is available in English, which is nice for tourists. All drinks are 180¥, which is the cheapest we found in Japan. The best part is the waitress, who is also the cook. She’s the nicest! Note that it is a small place, so you may have to wait a little before getting a table, but there are seats and disposable heat pads available.

  • 5/5 dm 7 months ago on Google
She’s amazing!! The vegetarian food is really good! I ordered a lot to have some for later at home too 🌱 Shiho is handling everything alone making delicious food and with great service! Smiling :) and creating a welcoming atmosphere with microphones to communicate with her anytime 🤗 The waiting time was pretty long this evening about 45min but absolutely worth it! Thank you!! <3

👍👍 Go to the basement floor which has all kinds of food stalls and specialty stores. Go there an hour before closing and most of the packaged food items will be discounted like 30% or Y300 off. It’s great deal for budget travel. They also have very good yogurt drinks and other bakery items.
