It's cheaper than other alternatives around. This is where the positive points end. We were coldly welcomed at the entrance, and had to wait for 10min+ to place the order while the foreign waiters were talking to each others. The food was mediocre, poorly presented and had a below average taste. The service was generally cold, unwelcoming and unprofessional. Total disappointment. But yes it's cheap.

I ordered meat ball and chicken to take-away. Both tasted delicious.

An easy place to get takeout yakitori skewers near the park. They give you the skewers in a sealed bag so it stays warm but be careful bc the skewers are sharp and punctured our bag, making the juices spill out!! My favorites were the negiyaki (grilled scallions) and tsukune (chicken meatball). When you order, go up to the takeout counter and let the chef know what you want. They’ll ask you what flavoring (shio/salt or something else I don’t remember), then you pay and step aside while you wait. I wouldn’t say it’s the best quality skewers. Some things we ordered like the hanadori was tough and the meatballs weren’t the most flavorful, but it’s fun to eat at the park so 4 stars for VIBES~~~~

The menu wasn't super impressive. Half of the yakitori on the menu wasn't available. The skin yakitori was not good. The rest was okay. The beer they promoted wasn't available. Pressed us 10 minutes before last order to order while we were still studying the menu. Asked us 3 times to pay at the table although it was still 1 hour until closing time. The only reason why it's not one star is that the view was good. All in all, I wouldn't recommend to come here.

This charcoal grill place is always very popular. Went at a quiet time so the queue was shorter. Their tongue and heart skewers are very juicy. The seasoning was simple but really delicious.

Famous dining place for visitors as well as locals after having a great stroll at Inokashira Park. I assume it is ideally located just right by the entrance of Park. The place was crowded when I dined in, overall waiting time is about 10-15 minutes or longer during the weekends. Yakitori is their signature dish, and you will also see other items typically found at Izaka-ya.

5 stars for cost performance - 100 yen per skewer is super cheap. Long lines before they open - line up for take-outs on the right side, line up for eat-in on the left side, by the stairs.

Decent yakitori but for very cheap price and great selection. There is plenty of space inside or you can get yakitori on the go from the stand. Over nice experience

This yakitory stand is pretty popular with constant lines around it as it makes easy and cheap takeouts to eat in Inokashira Park. At 100 yen a skewer, you can mix a bunch of them. My favorite was the chicken meatball. Overall they were pretty average but can't complain about how cheap and easy it was for quick skewers in the park.

Going to a Japanese izakaya will be a good experience. So we decided to have some BBQ food with beer tonight. Long queue outside restaurant. Fortunately the restaurant is very big with a few storeys so we can go inside quickly. Food is not as good as we think. Pork liver is still raw. Quite disgusting. Intestines may be overcooked, too chewy. The best food is corn. Very fresh and sweet. It’s good not because of their grilling skills. It’s just Japanese corns are always good in quality.

Iseya Koen-ten is just at the top of the stairs leading to Inokashira Park in Kichijoji. It is one of the oldest izakaya in town. There are 3 floors with crowded tables. Due to its popularity, you may have to share a table with strangers. There is usually a waiting line outside. It is a very inexpensive no-frills restaurant. The menu is small, and the food quality is not the highest. Yakitori may be their number one, but other items of pork and sashimi are available. The beers are the big bottles and cheap. The wait staff are not friendly and never smile, I guess due to being so busy and crowded. A few items I recommend are motsu (gut stew), white meat yakitori, maguro sashimi, and grilled corn on the cob. The place is a bit frenetic and noisy, but everyone is having a good time. I would say, give it a try. It can be fun.

The yakitori price per skewer is ¥90/skewer. The price speaks for itself! There are options for sauce or salt. It is great that they don't oversalt their dishes but the sauce does have more flavor. My reason for the 3-star is the smoke. Initially, there wasn't anyone smoking but when someone did, it permeated throughout the whole place. Added to the cigarette smoke is the cooking smoke and it became difficult to breath. The exhaust system was either not working or not there since the smoke filled up the whole restaurant. I would return for the food but may get it to go.

Very reasonable price and you get to taste many varieties of yakitori. Plus there are many other small foods to choose from. There's tatami seating where you'll need to take off your shoes and put them in a plastic bag with you.

Queue on Saturday in the sun - 15 minutes then in - full of locals - order biru & umeshu - get English menu - some Yakitori, some sashimi - and enjoy the busy conviviality overlooking Inokashira Park! Tofu - textured, mature - tastes like homemade - good! Side dish of? Stomach - I don't normally like - somehow delicious! Sashimi 800 yen - but delicious! 2860 yen for two - good food at a reasonable price - that's all I want - and I'm Happy! 🙃

One of Tokyo’s premier and historical Yakitori restaurants located in Kichijoji. The honten hugs the entrance to Inokashira Park making the location a great transit point to enjoying the day in town. While the exterior has been renovated to meet modern times, the interior still has the old school charm that’s made Iseya a local staple for decades. Yakitori ranges from hearts to liver as well as tendons and tsukune. Sides can include Maguro tuna butsu if you want to feel a little bit healthier. Drinks include beer, wine, highballs, spirits and nihonshu. Prices are cheap and definitely worth your time.
