An authentic Indian restaurant with a proper vibe: partially Indian, partially European, taking the best parts of both. The place gets busy, so don’t forget to book a table. Food: Tandoori was good, so as curry. But Tandoori won, because a lot of place offer a good curry, but not lots of place offer a good tandoori. I liked my Chardonnay, but what you absolutely cannot miss is mango lassi. (Actually, they have various lassi options and not only mango). I am definitely recommending the place

Anjappar Chettinad offers a nice and very original blend of flavors from India. This chain is already quite popular worldwide and as soon as they opened in Utrecht, they became a topic of discussions on social media. I had to go there. I called them on a Sunday afternoon and realized that is is not possible to get a reservation - though the manager mentioned that I drop wait, they might be able to arrange a table. Their location is easily approachable in the center of the city right across the mall. We started with a round of Medu Wada, Paneer 65 and Poricha Kozhi (Anjappar Fried Chicken). It took less than a bite to realize that we made a right decision and it was worth the wait. Wada was very soft and fluffy. Fried chicken had a nice very authentic flavor. It was not as spicy as it seems to be (or you find in restaurants in India) - but had a perfectly balanced taste that everyone would find palatable. In the main course, we ordered a South Indian mean (thaali) that came with several curries, rasam, raita, suji (kesari bath) dessert, papadam and rice. Everything was perfect. We also had a Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani. I'll be honest because I haven't been able to find authentic Hyderabadi Biryani outside Hyderabad (except a takeaway called Hyderabadi Dum Biryani in Milpitas California). Anjappar's Hyderabadi biryani was not really the same taste - but it was certainly something to remember. The best part was - the flavors of spices were perfect but it didn't feel "too spicy". Their drinks (indian mocktails) are also interesting. There was an almond shake and something with chia seeds - both are worth trying. I'm definitely going back to try more items on the menu (it's a pretty long menu). Plus points for the quality of service and the pace of bringing plates and plates of amazing meal. The manager and the owner are amazing people and their personality is reflected in all the operations that lead to the experience you would remember.

They have the best chicken Masala we've ever eaten. The Biriyani was very good(spicy like jollof rice). Their spice and seasoning game is definitely on point. Very authentic and delicious meals. I highly recommend.💯

If you’re looking for an authentic South Indian restaurant, then this is definitely one of the best you can bet on in the Netherlands. The place was busy but really loved the hospitality, service and the attention they’re giving to every table. It’s often difficult to see places with hospitality like this nowadays, i hope they continue it the same way. Food: We were very much satisfied with the food in terms of quality, quantity and taste. Fish meal was the winner for me. I am definitely recommending the place and will go back to try other items from the menu.

Had a great time here! We got the mutton meal, and the fish meal and both were fantastic! A bit too spicy for me, even though it was not labelled as spicy on the menu, so keep that in mind and maybe get yoghurt on the side. Great pistachio kulfi to finish off.

Great food and beautiful decor. Close to authentic Indian taste that we get back home. We went in the first week and they were still settling in, resulting in some kinks in the service. But overall service was friendly and pleasant.

Amazing food! Eggplant curry is a big recommendatiom!! Really high quality food for a fair price! Also if you don't want to eat spicy they have lots of tasty options.

The first time I visited this place, i finished the food and then realized that i didn't click pictures of the food. then i visited again next night and clicked the pictures of next set of dishes. you can then imagine how good the food is. mutton sukkha is the best one i felt.

Just wanted to drop some love your way for being our goto spot in Utrecht. As a veggie lover, your South Indian dishes are an absolute gamechanger that chutney, though. The crew's always on point, specially one who’s bald sorry forgot to ask your name and other one from Orissa very friendly and going the extra mile to make our visits special. Major kudos.. Can't help but spread the word about your place rose milk, salt lassi, masala chai, and that buttermilk (aka masala Chas) are our top picks. And don't even get me started on the dosa lineup ghee podi uttapam, rava onion dosa, masala dosa, Mysore masala dosa, idiyappam, appam, and ghee podi idly are total winners. Oh, and the hara bhara kabab is a solid starter. Just a heads up, the garlic paneer was decent, but I think it could use a little something extra. And maybe switch out those straws?
