善光寺は16時に閉まりますが、こちらの山門は拝観することができます。 門そのものも仁王像も勇壮そのものです。 これだけでも見る価値はおります。

This is the southern gate to the zenkoji temple. The buddhist temple is guarded by two nio guardians of the gate.

Beautiful temple. Worth going to explore and hear the stories of the temple. Can turn a knob down below the temple for good luck, can rub a statue then yourself for good health, can pay, can but fortunes, and take in ease of it all. There's shopping down the way from the temple and places to eat and take a short rest. No pics inside though

A great Buddhist temple with many souvenir stores located inside.

You want a piece of Japanese culture. You’ve got to stop here. Save half a day for just the temple. Start off early. Do try the dark tunnel. Work up your appetite. Hit a local restaurant (all of them are delicious). But be warned, if your going at lunch time, you might have to wait between 15-30 mins. After lunch check the local stores and get your souvenirs.
