Must try vegetarian restaurant in Jaffna. Has been in business for a very long time. They serve Vada, String hoppers, pittu and all kinds of South Indian vegetarian food. Prices are not too high.

The food is very delicious. The place is not that well maintained. I personally had a language issue when talking with them because most of the staff didn't know English nor sinhala. This is a fully vegetarian restaurant. And one of the best place in jaffna to get a delicious tamil meal. There is no separate car park and is situated in the middle of a busy town

Visited Malayalan Cafe in Jaffna to have lunch. It was a fantastic experience because all the food items there were vegetarian. Service is so friendly and fast. Tamil is the language which is mostly spoken there, so it is a little bit difficult to communicate with them. The food was so delicious and we enjoyed the meal a lot.

This was a pure vegetarian cafe. They lots of vegan varieties. The iconic symbol is banana leaf for any meal they served instead of typical plates. But place was located in a Jaffna town behind the market which was very busy area and parking space was almost full in a peak time.

The spot is located on Grand Bazar Jaffna. If I’m to speak of the food it was good, tasty and reasonable prices as well but if I’m to talk out about the customer service it’s the worst. They just don’t listen to your order well and plus the waiters/servers were so very rude. Other than that the everything is shape. You could jump on and get a quick brunch or a snack. Not much recommend.

The best jaffna masala dosa. Typically Indian atmosphere. It is located behind the bus stop in the center of jaffna. Highly recommended

Awesome foods, very clean place. You will be served in a banana leaf, no plates. We had masala dose, and it was superb. You must try their milk tea 😍 that was awesome.👌 Much crowded some times. Parking space is less.very popular among people.

The reason I walked into this place is because I liked the Cafe's handpainted sign. The interior is basic but very charming. The food is delicious and super affordable. After choosing what you want from the little displays of fresh goods, the friendly staff bring them to you on a banana leaf. Then a lady comes around and offer you generous portions of yummy curry and sambol. The whole meal cost me about Rs. 250, which is about $1.35 USD. You DO have to eat with your hands but they have adequate washing stations. I love this cafe and will be going back next time I am in Jaffna.

The place is clean. Friendly service. They served food on banana leaves. Reason for giving four stars rating is there weren't much varieties for breakfast. Fair prices.

The best South Indian food that I’ve tried in Srilanka. Ulundu wade was the best. You should definitely have that. And don’t forget to try the milk tea there. All the waiters were wearing a mask and they had a cap to cover their hair as well. Good hygienic place. I haven’t seen a separate parking though.

So tasty traditional food is served and Im loving it. 'Dosa', wade' and 'fresh cow milk' are the major concerns and they do their best by serving food on 'fresh banana leaves' making the atmosphere smelling like heaven. Freshly milked boiled-cow-milk was an amazing experience there and still make my mouth water by just recalling the taste. The major staff are Tamils but they manage Sinhalese so nicely and perfectly. No worries about communication at the restaurant.

Malayan Café in Jaffna, specializing in vegetarian cuisine, is a delightful haven for plant-based food enthusiasts. The café’s commitment to crafting flavorful and innovative vegetarian dishes sets it apart as a unique and welcoming dining establishment. The menu at Malayan Café is a testament to the creativity that can be infused into vegetarian cuisine. From the first glance, it’s evident that each dish is thoughtfully crafted, showcasing a diverse range of ingredients and culinary techniques. The chefs’ ability to elevate plant-based ingredients to gourmet heights is truly commendable. The café’s ambiance reflects a cozy and intimate setting, making it an ideal spot for those seeking a tranquil dining experience. The attentive and friendly staff add a personal touch, guiding patrons through the menu and ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable visit. Standout dishes include the Quinoa and Chickpea Salad, a refreshing blend of textures and flavors, and the Eggplant Parmesan, a hearty and satisfying option for those craving comfort food. I recently visited this vegetarian restaurant in Jaffna that had received a lot of hype and positive reviews from travel pages and blogs. However, my experience was quite disappointing, and I have to say that this place is overrated. Firstly, the food was not tasty at all, and it was definitely not worth the price. Additionally, the place was a bit unhygienic, which added to my disappointment. Although the staff was friendly and welcoming, it didn't make up for the lack of quality in the food and hygiene. I have to say that there are many good restaurants in Jaffna that are worth visiting, and this one is not one of them. I would recommend exploring other options.

It's a vegetarian restaurant located in the centre of town. It is usually crowded but you should be able to find a table without waiting for a long time. The big menu board on the wall is all in Tamil. The staff mainly speaks Tamil, but you should be able to place an order without an issue as the staff are friendly. Meals are served on banana leaves. For a restaurant of this type, the hygiene levels are good. If you like vegetarian food and wanted to try out some in Jaffna, this would be the best place to visit. The ghee dosa and the uludu vadai that we had was excellent. We really enjoyed the food here.

My brother and I shared a veg kothu parotta with salna and green sambol. Wow, it was so good! Worth the hype ☺️ I really wanted to eat here, as it is the oldest café in Jaffna, and our parents had talked a lot about this place. I also remember eating here back in 2003, it was Nice to come back 20 years later 😄

This restaurant has a traditional, old-fashioned ambiance, but there are some areas that need improvement. The cleanliness should be better maintained as the staff often wear dirty clothes. It's concerning that they use a single glove for both cleaning and serving the food. Additionally, considering it is a high-priced restaurant, it's disappointing that they provide paper instead of proper serviettes. It seems the owners lack knowledge when it comes to maintaining cleanliness standards.

If in Jaffna don't miss this place. It is amazing as people just flock in to buy the delicious sweets. Locals everywhere so it must be and was good. Best place we found for afternoons tea.

I came to Malayan cafe in my early childhood, and I am here today again to Malayan Cafe to taste their foods 😍 Ordered Paper roast and Milk. The food was awesome and the service was reasonably fine too, though the place was little crowded. Will visit again sooner to taste their Ulundu Vade once 😍

Delicious authentic South Indian food. All food lovers must visit this place. Can get pretty crowded which cause service delays during peak hours. But the taste is pure and mouthwatering. Serving of all meals on banana leaves is also a unique experience.

I visit every time I visit Jaffna. They have reduced the quality of food drastically. Poor hygiene. Now it's very difficult to recommend

We went there in the morning for breakfast. They don’t speak English very well but they tried to help us as much as possible. Good and fast service. Food was really good. Good place to try local food. Be ready to eat with your hands on a banana leaf.

Very traditional hotel. Real Jaffna taste. Must taste their wade when you are in Jaffna.

Great place for breakfast. Enjoy the local bread variations with curry straight from the bucket on a banana leaf. Prepare to eat with your hands (actually just the right one, but I think they don't mind if you use both). The people don't speak much english but are eager to help. When finished there is a room to toss away your banana leaf with a hand washing station.
