Three nights here, the staff have been great. The hostel is clean and well maintained. It’s located on the edge of downtown, with lots of decent restaurants and coffee shops about. There is a secure lockup for bicycles, skis, and snowboards. The town is very picturesque and has a colourful past.

Very happy with my stay. Got a dorm room as I didn't need anything fancy for a couple nights. Everything was kept very clean, washroom included. Staff and people staying there were very friendly. Will definitely stay at the dancing bear again!

Loved it! Very friendly & knowledgable staff, clean rooms, great common spaces (kitchen, patio, lounges) with lots of character, and a great location for walking around Nelson. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m back in Nelson!

Had stayed here while finding a house to rent in the kootenys. Cindy, and Kelly along with the other staff on the team where really helpful during this time. The lay out is nice and has a log cabin feel in the lobby, where gatherings like cards and baore games can be found being played at night sometimes. The kitchen is gas range stove and a shared fridge with glass sliding doors for a clear view of the fridge. Kitchen is open 7am to 10pm Very modern looking finishes and a small courtyard wich may be nice in the summer. Great value if traveling and not needing all the extra things a hotel has the whole time. It's a bit of a walk from grocery stores and is close to all the other hotels. Staff are informative and happy to help any way they can. I had a very positive experience here and you will toom

Overall a good experience but mostly because the hostel was fairly empty/unbooked. The hallways are very loud and people seem oblivious to common courtesies. For the top floor, it's surprising there aren't more restrooms.

We had a lovely two night stay at the Dancing Bear Inn. The living areas are well equipped, bed rooms are clean, beds are comfortable and every room has its own sink to avoid lineups at toothbrushing time. Excellent location right on Baker Street, within walking distance to shops, restaurants, Lakeside park and more. There is construction close by which can be a bit noisy in the morning if you sleep with the windows open. Construction also removes their parking lot for the time being, but they will give you a parking pass to use close to the hostel. We would stay again 🙂

I always stay at the Dancing Bear when I'm in Nelson. I feel so comfortable there. It's great to have the kitchen to use and so nice to sit by the fire and knit in the evening. So close to all the shops on Baker. Staff is the best!

The twin private room was clean and Zen cozy including a desk and sink. Washroom was shared with those on the floor and was clean. Excellent location to pick up the Silvercity Stagelines bus. Friendly, outstanding service: they printed out my flight boarding pass. Highly recommend.

Have stayed here a couple times, always clean and tidy rooms. The staff are cheerful and helpful. Cindy is a superstar and made me feel so welcomed and at home in Nelson the last two times I visited, if I could give her 6 stars I would!

Very nice hostel with all the amenities you would need. The staff was super friendly and the rooms and facilities were very clean. I would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting Nelson. It in a great location to start any adventures you may find yourself on in B.C. I will be staying here again whenever I find myself in Nelson.

My friend group and I had an amazing time at the Dancing Bear! Kitchen was word class and the beds were amazing. The location is unbeatable everything downtown is within a 5 minute walk and the resort is only a 20-30 minute drive. Definitely will be staying here again for future adventures in Nelson!

Hostel was in an awesome location, and was very well kept. Everything from the bathrooms to the kitchen were super clean and the staff was professional. Only potential room for improvement would be slightly better noise dampening as in the mornings we could hear most other people's conversations. That said, the hostel deserves 5/5 stars as it's one of the best we've stayed at. We love Nelson, and will be staying here in the future.

Awesome hostel! Super clean and super nice staff! The beds are comfortable and you have your own closet to store your stuff Everything in the kitchen is labeled so is very easy to use. The only reason I give 4 stars is because since it is a shoe free hostel, which I found awesome, in the lobby is warm. But downstairs, where the kitchen, room and laundry room are, is very cold and the heathers don't work so good. And the other reason is because you are not allowed to smoke, which they told me in the beginning but I found it a little inconvenient to smoke in the street. Other than that it has a great location and you should stay here!

The best place to live if you are new in town specially for students coming to Nelson or castlegar and need to stay for few days till you find a permanent accomodation. Cheap in terms of rates but premium in terms of the location and service. They have a neat and tidy kitchen where you can cook for yourself and also a coin based laundry systems. The staff are very kind and helpful. People who live there are also the same. I had an amazing time staying there for 3 nights and made some good friends.

Amazing stay from start to finish. Staff were super friendly, helpful, and gave awesome local tips for places to check out! Rooms and common areas were clean, and the hostel is close by to tons of restaurants and shops. Would definitely stay again!

Our family enjoyed our stay at Dancing Bear Inn. The hostel overall is very nice, and if your on the fence of if it deserves 5 stars, I think the dancing bear etches and paintings will push most people to say yes indeed this is a 5 star hostel. Wifi was good, nice common areas to sit and relax, kitchen open during most of the day for cooking or storing food, laundry area, place to safely store ski/snowboard gear and bikes. Also the location on baker st, is good its right by the best western. I would stay here again when we visit Nelson in the future.

Location is amazing! Can easily walk to the Nelson farmers market, co-op, Nelson Brewing, and the lake. Being right downtown is amazing. Comfortable beds, lots of space in the common areas to relax, + a kitchen and outdoor eating area. Can’t wait to come back!

The staff treats you like family, such a pleasure to have stayed for the duration. Very clean and tidy all around, plus the most killer vibes at the Bear, with unique activities always being organized! The location can’t be compared, if you want to browse the world famous Baker Street or take transit. I would love to come back sometime

Comfy, clean, and incredibly friendly! This hostel is by far the greatest I have ever come across - and Cyndi, the manager, is an absolute treasure. She and the whole team here bring a fun-loving warmth to the atmosphere. The location is fantastic (main stip of Nelson's town), the communal areas are always super clean, and the environment is relaxed. This IS NOT a party hostel - and that's why I LOVE IT. Instead, make a tea and read a book in the lobby by the fireplace. :)

Excellent location close to shops and restaurants. Stayed in a small twin room with bunk beds and shared bathroom. Everything was clean, the beds comfortable, and the building quiet. Very friendly welcome at the front desk! Would definitely stay here again!

I had not stayed at a hostel in a long time, but the Dancing Bear is more like a rustic boutique hotel with some shared facilities and very reasonable rates... Everything is really clean and inviting, the staff are very welcoming and friendly. The location is excellent. Lots of character... Highly recommend!

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and cute. Great value for the price in Nelson! Also, I forgot something in my room and they were very prompt and helpful in mailing it to me in Vancouver.

Pretty sad when you won't refund a couple young guys their money when they just checked in and realized that this is not what they were looking for in a room usually when a customer is unhappy about what they are paying for it is good customer service to give them a refund or at least offer them half of the refund. I will be sure to not send anyone in your direction. Annoyed father-in-law

This place is legit. It's clean, quiet, and comfortable, and easily the best value in town. There's a kitchen and a place to lock up your skis and fast WiFi. It's walking distance to everything and the staff are great. Look no further, this is your spot.
