This hostel is the worst of the worst. Supposed to stay here for 3 nights but shifted out after the 2nd night as it was unbearable. Firstly, the security of the hostel is questionable. Anyone can walk into the rooms as no access card is needed. This is a serious security issue. Secondly, there is a lack of showering cubicles in the hostel with only 6 cubicles serving over 100+ occupants. Thirdly, the hygiene level needs serious improvement as the toilet and showering areas are dirty, smelly and disgusting. I spotted a lady soaking her feet in the basin beside me as I was washing my face. The hostel rooms were also not kept clean with dirty socks thrown around in the room and dirty towels hanged around on the ladders and heaters. Lastly, the rooms are not well-ventilated with constant foul smell of body odour, socks and damp clothings. Bed sheets and blankets are also not fitted which is unusual for a hostel. It is difficult for occupants of the upper bunk to fit the sheets. I would not recommend this hostel at all considering I paid 60 euros per night. It is totally not worth going for with the bad location and all. Had a horrible and traumatising experience with this hostel.

TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE. Stay away at ALL costs. This hostel has been a living nightmare for me. The hygiene is negative out of a 100. Toilet floors are filthy with dirt and hairs all over, toilets have faeces stains on the wall. Rooms are dirty and not cleaned at all, accompanied with a stench that lasts 24 hours. An absolute lack of showers for the entire building. Travelers have undergarments, socks, and clothes laid all over the floor, it is a challenge to navigate to my pod in a room as cluttered as this. A total lack of rules in this hostel. Travellers were rolling weed in the common area. Security is absent in this hostel. There are 0 locks in any of the doors, any stranger could walk in without resistance. Absolutely a horrendous hostel, STAY AWAY.

The staff are the best by far - they maintain a professional approach and still manage to make you feel like you are at home and at ease. This made my stay very enjoyable and stress-free. The beds are very comfortable - like sleeping on a cloud! The pod itself is also very cozy and nice. There are also communal areas where you can bump into and meet new people - it's easy to be social is you want to! Although there is only a kettle, there are many convenience stores and restaurants nearby that offer filling and tasty food. BONUS!! - There is a coffee shop across the street Overall, by far, the best price-to-quality ratio on the market!! :)) Over time, I started to really like the place

City Trip Hostels is a beautiful looking hostel located 30 minutes outside of Amsterdam. Even though the Hostel is outside of Amsterdam, there is a bus station located right outside the hostel with bus's leaving every so often, so getting into the city was easy. Once inside you will be greeted with awesome customer service. The receptionist's are all friendly and easy to deal with. There is someone there 24/7 at the front desk so it's very safe knowing that your belongings are safe. The bathrooms and showers were very clean but there was a funky smell at times when I was in the bathroom, almost like a moldy smell. Things I disliked- The stairwell to get to your actual room is a very steep and high. If you have large luggage it can be difficult to walk up with. The concept of the bed being holes in the wall seemed awesome and stylish but unfortunately the airflow isn't great and it can get hot when sleeping. They do have black curtains that you can slide to minimize light getting into your personal bed but, they makes the airflow worse and hot inside. The dorm it's self was very clean but it was hard to sleep in the room. People would be turning on the main light late in the evening and people were also very loud carrying on conversations very late into the night. Also if you have large luggage the room isn't really suited to place your belongings any where. It can get over crowed fast. They do have lockers but they are for just smaller personal items. All in all- It was an ok experience

I stayed here with my boyfriend in one of the couple pods and it was great! Clean, quiet, modern, and the staff were so friendly! The hostel is about 25 minutes away from Amsterdam on bus but this was honestly a bonus as a hostel directly in Amsterdam would’ve been much louder and Purmerend is a lovely town. My only minor complaints are that the pods don’t have good air circulation when the curtain is drawn and that there’s no microwave. Overall a great experience!

Absolutely fantastic service here. So friendly and welcoming. They really made the stay enjoyable. I slept quite well, the curtain provides privacy and it's quiet at night. The bed is comfortable. Each bed has USB charger and towels are provided. There is a bus stop directly outside (take 305 bus to centraal) the bus is runs frequently and costs 3 euros Now the negatives. No kitchen and no microwave. Impossible to eat unless it's cup noodles or cold food. 1 bathroom on each floor is simply not enough. Male showers are downstairs which is annoying if you're on floor 1. The are no sockets in the pod only USB. It's 25min bus ride to downtown. Overall I had a pleasant stay and it suited me well. If you want to party or nightlife maybe stay closer to downtown. I liked the location because I wanted a quiet experience Breakfast was pretty good. Meat cheese and bread & coffee

Awesome affordable hostel, at a non ridiculous price like used to in Amsterdam. Wonderful bed quality and good privacy. Attention to detail. Superb cleaning. Staff very helpful. Would recommend 10/10 overall. Bus to amsterdam is fast and constant.

The rooms are open but each bed has a curtain, so there is some privacy. You can also leave your personal belongings in lockers. Great service, a very open atmosphere in case you travel to meet people. The cleanliness of the kitchen could be better, but it wasn't gross

My stay was for 3 weeks there. The hostel has a great atmosphere, residents there are welcoming and respectful. Great social talks and meeting new people. The staff are amazing, super friendly, helpful, and interesting personalities 🌟 Shoutout to Brenda, Flor, Alfie, and to all the hostel crew 👏

The location is right across the bus stop, making it quite easy to find. It is a bit far from the city center, but I was out and about all day and only came back to sleep so it was not an issue. Beds are comfortable and each pod includes a night light and USB ports to charge your devices. The kitchen is a counter with a small fridge, I recommend just using it to store snacks and some drinks. Overall cleanliness is good, including common areas. Staff is attentive and available 24/7, any questions or doubts were amended quickly.

Really nice place, great price, very clean, the sleeping area is a nice size, it’s well managed, safe, and a wonderful experience. Not bad at all to get to central amsterdam from this hostel as it’s right across the street from a bus stop that goes direct. Definitely reccomend, and Flor especially was awesome!

Nice clean place, staff is very friendly and supportive. The place is a bit hard to find but if you know the way than it’s fine. My suggestion is to walk from train station if you don’t have a lot of luggage.

I had quite a good experience here - the location is OK relative to Amsterdam (30 minutes by 305 bus) but the town of Purmerend is quite cute with very kind people and a sweet plaza with lots of restaurants and cute shops nearby. The female dorm did not have a lock on the door and was located on the first floor so that didn't feel the safest but there is 24 hour reception and the neighborhood is quiet. The pods are unique and while they didn't have a real socket, there was USB and USB-C ports to charge phones. It was sort of hard to make the bed because of the pod situation but the bed was comfortable and towels were provided Fleur helped us for most of our stay and was super sweet and awesome. overall, clean and the staff rocked and it was a comfortable bed for long days of travel and exploration

Basic hostel with good amenities, friendly staff and a coffee shop across the road. Hostels and accommodation around Amsterdam tend to be quite expensive but this place is decent value and does the job. Kitchen is very limited. Outside smoking area was very chill. Kiwi receptionist was a very sound fella.

Great hostel, very clean with good service. Definitely recommend the double beds, they are comfortable and spacious. It is far from Amsterdam, but that can be good if you want to see some of the beautiful Dutch countryside.

The 'pod' style hostel may seem like a drawback, but honestly, the privacy it brings is welcomed. It almost feels like I'm in my own room with the curtain drawn. The price wasn't bad, ~€35 p/n when I booked the day before arriving. The location isn't as big of an issue as it could be, there's a nice bus service that'll take you almost straight there, but it will waste half an hour of your time. The spyral staircase, although cute, is a little hard to walk down, I can imagine a drunk/high resident falling quite easily.

The hostel is situated in the downtown area outside Amsterdam. It is in a lovely vibrant community away from the noisy n busy Amsterdam yet takes only 20 minutes to reach city center. Staff are super helpful and informative. Highly recommended for travellers who want a different option than the busy Amsterdam.

The only draw-back of the Hostel is the location. Otherwise; the employees, amenities, and 'pods' were extremely lovely. Having experienced and witnessed how crowded and "trashy" hostels can be in Amsterdam I would highly recommend City Trip Hostels. Happily renting the bikes as well there is a lot to take in; the quaint village of Purmerend is somewhat bland. Still it has its own charm as many of these Dutch villages that aren't Amsterdam have. A 55 minute cycle to the center -- long, yet Dutch the seats are a bit uncomfortable, so if you are expecting to travel the distance prepare yourself!

Located in a quiet suburb of Amsterdam and a really easy bus ride away, the bus to access downtown Amsterdam runs 24/7 and takes 20 minutes. The hsotel is a nice mix with easy access to the city but also very quiet. The hostel itself has no kitchen facilities, but does have a singular kettle for boiling water, there are nearby grocery stores that sell prepared meals though. The hostel beds are comfortable but suffer the typical capsule bed probelm of being hot at night. There is only one communal space and it is out the back where everyone smokes. However this hostel is a deal as its cheaper than the Amsterdam hostels and has easy quick access to the city.

You get what you pay for. It’s a hostel for mainly young people. It’s really great compared to most hostels. The location was fine. It was easy to get there but we would have preferred to have it closer. The service was awesome (the dutch have awesome English)

It a great place. Location is a bit outside the city, but no worries since buses are very frequent. Really clean rooms. And love how everyone respects the quite hours.

An affordable, comfortable and relatively well equipped hostel. It has everything you could need with great staff that actually remember who you are. Definitely in my top 5 hostels. Be aware that even if it’s not far from Amsterdam 20-30min by bus) tickets can be quite costly (8.5€ back and forth) especially since Amsterdam public transport passes donc work on this bus.

Can’t say enough good things about this place. Staff is kind, helpful, friendly. The pods are very cozy, I slept great while I was here. All the shared spaces stayed clean and other travelers were a joy to run into. Purmerend was such a charming town as well, plenty to do and see and it was great to have a place outside of the city. I highly recommend staying here

I spent the night in a hostel for the first time in my life! And did not regret it! Very clean, comfortable, atmospheric! Stayed overnight for New Years! There was a cool party, music, free drinks, games and cool company! Very friendly and awesome staff! I recommend to everyone! And I'll be back for sure! It is a pity that we did not exchange contacts with people who celebrated the New Year in this hostel!

The staff is really nice. The pods were comfortable and they had net and phone chargers. The facility are very modern and there was always plenty of hot water in the showers. Overall we liked this hostel, but our experience would have been better if it had had a kitchen. The location is pretty far away from Amsterdam, it takes you about 30 minutes to get there by bus.
