It's a nice hostel to stay at. The room, the bed and the bathroom was all clean. There is also a comfortable room where you can meet other guests and have a drink. The staff was very friendly and always ready to help.

Every staff in the hostel was super nice and helpful. Zoe was the one who welcomed us in the hostel. She answered every type of questions not just about the hostel. Thanks to whole crew!

I like the blinds and night light each bunk has. Also appreciate I didn't have to make my own bed. Great aesthetic. Also, guy contacted me after I missed my check-in time to let me know it's ok and what the latest check-in is open is. Much appreciated.

The hostel is a 20-minute walk from Rotterdam Central Station, so a great location for those on a budget. Attractions are all within easy reach, as is the river. On arrival, the first thing that you'll notice is that the staff are great - nothing appeared too much trouble for any of them and if it was, well, they made damm sure they went about solving your issue in a calm and friendly way. The hostel has a lovely communal area with it's own bar selling some great beers - and nice cushions to sit down and relax! It's implicit in a place of this kind to behave in a trustful way. Nobody touched my possessions and, if you stayed here, I think you'll be just as safe too - so all good. I don't know how other people manage, but if there are dorms with 14 beds and another with 8 beds, but only 3 loos and 3 showers then guests should be prepared to sometimes have a long wait. I was awake at 5am so never experienced a queue, but if you're a late sleeper you're in danger of a long wait! They have their own guides to the city. Real Rotterdam is a good DIY walking tour that will take about 90 minutes to complete. Don't worry if you forget your toothbrush, toothpaste, plasters, shampoo or condoms! You can buy all of the above from reception! And one last tip. Don't do what I did and book through Airbnb. They have their own website where rates will be a heck of a lot cheaper. Enjoy!

Stayed in the Tea Room for 3 nights April-May. - What I found Unacceptable: I paid for a 4 people dormitory, and when I entered in the room, there were 2 bunk beds and then an enclosed bed on the other side of the room. It's false advertisement and they are making more money with this 5 instead of 4 people scam (I paid for the 3 weekend nights 50, 40, 35 euro, booked 5months in advance)! - While the room is cute and decorated along the theme (tea cups on the walls, hanging from the lights), it's not the most modern building as the wooden floor creaks a lot. - 3 of the 4 metal luggage bins that went under the beds had either a broken or unusable bent hook (where you place your lock). I did luckily get a worker to fix it as soon as I arrived, but I think it's something they should routinely check and fix without being prompted. - Bathrooms worked, but the showers were not properly designed, with no shelves for shampoo and an area to keep your change of clothes (phones, and key) dry. - The kitchen is fine, the cooking plates are present only when the reception is open (it think 8:30-23), but there was a microwave, so that's fine.

Please do not leave your things on your bed, otherwise you will end up finding it in the waste bin!! I had very terrible experience, when the housekeeping staff cleaned my bed and threw my bath towel in the waste bin. Also I couldn’t find my two books which I had left on my bed. They assumed that i already checked out, even though the slip mentioning the check out date was clipped to the bed. I was lucky enough that nobody new occupied my bed. And when I complained, none of the staff cared to apologise or resolve the situation and started yelling at me. Very unprofessional behaviour and not safe!

Okay for a couple of nights. NOT recommended for inexperienced solo travellers. Beds and showers are modern and in good condition. Other areas of the hostel are old but reasonably well maintained. The location is decent. It is a fair distance from most parts of the city but there are docks and a few nice green spaces nearby. Staff was usually friendly and helpful. Coffee is good but staff need more training/practise. I ordered 4 or 5 machiattos during my stay and only once got a coffee resembling a machiatto. Not a problem if you drink caps or lattes. The kitchen is okay but a little small for the number of guests who were using it and fridge space is very limited. There was an endless myriad of dramas involving the kitchen during my stay. Security here is not good. Camera coverage is spotty and the cameras in place may just be for show. Staff were unable to identify who had allowed older homeless men inside the hostel. What I observed was that lonely middle aged women were letting them in. I think the point to take away from this is that if a homeless person shows you around the city for the day buy him mcdonalds take away don't let them inside the hostel. Also if you are a middle aged lady looking for love on tinder do not be fooled. He does not want you to host because he has a wife and children. He can't host you because he literally lives under a bush in the park. You can go for a walk at 4am and see them all crawling out from beneath their shrubs. So show them this review, tell them to go away and remind them that I provided you with this ammunition because these homeless beggars tried to steal my bicycle keys.

Honestly I could gush about Hostel ROOM for ages. By far, the best hostel in Europe I have ever stayed in. We got upgraded to a family suite for free! The service is so personalised, with staff personally leading you up to your room, and so eager to chat and help. The rooms itself are so quirky. All amenities are so clean and well presented. The breakfast on offer looked fabulous, and for a reasonable price. Such an incredible location. A walk or tram away from all the main bits of interest. Had SUCH a great time; we will definitely be coming back. Wish there was a hostel ROOM branch in every European city!

Iv stayed in over 50 hostels and this one has such a nice feeling about it! It doesnt seem like a party hostel, but seems fun and inclusive. It is old, and it is busy, but it feels comfortable and welcoming. The staff is great, the facilities clean. It's a great location too.

It's a really sweet hostel with nice staff and a good breakfast for only 5€/day. The people in the dorm we slept in (just women) were really nice and treated everyone respectfully. The toilets/douche get cleaned everyday and you are free to use the kitchen. The location is near the harbour, not too busy and it's a short walk away from the centre and the Erasmus bridge which connects the two parts of the city.

Only stayed one night but was pleased with the experience. The staff are really friendly and welcoming. They checked us in early. Beds have a light, curtain and charging port. The showers have a timed light which is annoying so I ended up showering in the dark. But otherwise everything is perfect. Beer on tap always a bonus too :)

Amazing hostel!! The staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing. Our room was clean and cosy. A welcome card and treats were waiting for us when we arrived! They do an activity every day like 'game night', yoga, beer pong, movie night. We wish we could stay more. Also the place is perfect to relax in the sofa with their nice coffee!! Thank you to all the team and specially to the english guy who was really kind with us. I recommend it 100%!!! :)

This was a refreshing hostel after a dud. We immediately felt welcomed and the vibe was great. We only stayed one night in the private room "Love." We used their do-it-yourself tour guide for Kinderdijk and would have otherwise not have visited there! Their breakfast is a bargain and really tasty!

Amazing hostel, very clean bathrooms and rooms, beds are comfy. The team is also very friendly, helpful and hospitable. I strongly advise you to get a hot chocolate and cozy up on one of the comfy sofas, perfect activity for the cold dutch winter !

Stayed one night in an all-female 6-bed room. The beds were comfortable and the sheets were clean, and the hostel in general was pretty clean. The staff were all very nice. The only minus was that there was not much soundproofing - until midnight I could hear a bass jumping, not sure if it came from the music in the hotel lobby or just outside the hostel. There was a party group of guys who jumped violently the floor above us and sang very loudly until around 22:30 - which is before silent hours, but just as a FYI that sometimes these sorts of groups seem to stay here.

3rd stay since 2006 and this remains my favourite hostel...ever! The rooms and reception area/cafe are stylish and arty and the staff are kind and competent. For all ages and sizes of group - I've been here twice as a group for the North Sea Jazz festival this time as a solo traveller. New smartphone operated door locking was nifty too. Thank you Hostel ROOM!

I was really surprised in the most positive sense. The hostel really looks exactly like the pictures, everything was clean and it was also good to see that was cleaned regularly. So price performance ratio is really more than reasonable! I felt safe and the area is also beautiful. Perfectly located between the port and the museum parc! Lastly, the team is also incredibly sweet and I felt very well taken care of there. Thank you very much!

Stayed at ROOM in February 2020, my first time in the Netherlands. Really nice, cozy hostel with great staff and a solid (free, I believe) breakfast. Wifi was fast, there's a kitchen using which one can make one's own food, and I recall the bathrooms/showers being quite nice. Met a few nice folks here and was thinking about staying longer, but a boy's gotta roll!

I am writing this as a client, it is hands down one of the best hostels I have stayed in. The conditions are impeccable, the hostel is conveniently positioned next to Erasmusburg in the north, everything being with in a walking distance. The staff is top notch, all nice and willing to help and now with this pandemic, even more, giving 150%, it has a very cozy bar at the reception and everyone is all but smiles. I recommend to everyone who wants a stay in R'dam, THIS is the hostel to stay.

Really enjoyed our staying here! The hostel is situated in a nice spot, near the subway, trams, Erasmusburg and other hot spots. Rooms, bathrooms and all the hostel are clean, stuff is super friendly and helpful. They also have a lot of discounts, just ask at the reception.

Very nice space, near a big park and within close walks to the Erasmus Bridge, Kunsthal Museum and Euromast. Welcoming and friendly people. Nice storage place under the beds and very clean rooms and bathrooms. Cute kitchen and cheap bike rentals. Definitely recommend

Kind and young staff. Great location near downtown. Only point against, if you don't like to share WC or shower with other guests (there's an age and time for that, and maybe mine is past, and my kids, although they're on that age, did not willingly accept it either, my fault)

  • 5/5 David M. 1 year ago on Google
Owners very friendly and make us feel at home. But the rooms themselves were not the greatest. Bunk beds and we booked a family room since we travelling with 8 months, 3.5y and 6y old. The practicalities of a families stay is not great. Shared bathrooms and toilets was not very practical for us a family. We were planning to stay 9days ended up staying 3nights.
