This is the second time we've visited Bonaire it's such a beautiful island (especially if you are a diver) we have stayed at the plaza Beach resort twice. The service is always incredible, they have added a beautiful pool by the beach with a bar (they are full service and serve food) I highly recommend doing dives with the dive shop on the resort (they are incredible!) Grab lunch at the bar and then do dinners out (they serve dinner at the resort however it isn't the best and Bonaire has so many culinary gems on the island it's worth it to go out!) The resort rooms are a little out dated but they are currently doing new construction and it looks incredible! We can't wait to go back to see how everything looks!

Spent a week here diving with Toucan Diving. While it may not be the most luxurious resort I’ve seen, the rooms were more than adequate, the food was always great, the on-site dive shop is amazing, and Quincy will get you anything you need. The house reef was fun, and super easy to dive with free air. A little noisy from construction at the moment, but it looks like they are making some nice upgrades to the facility. Never tried the pool etc. was there for the diving.

To start with the min point, it’s very commercial. Want to stay a few hours longer before checkout, is €50 per hour. Lost a key card €20, lost a towel, don’t know the price anymore. I still had a great time, because of all the nice employees. Bonaire is really a place to visit sometime, because of all the happy people. Minus points food: - almost no vegan options The hard thing is that they don’t offer many vegan options for dinner. After mentioning it 4 times (could just eat fries for 4days) there was 1 chef who did make vegan dinner for us. 1 chef told me every night again that he forgot or that there was something wrong. Sometimes they put milk through the vegetables When telling to the manager(this happened 3 times in a row) in the morning that we can just eat fries she told us to tell the reception, they told us to tell the chef and they told us that it would be there in the evening. After getting really upset the one chef was really great, he helped us with a lot. There are SOO many vegan options in the supermarkets of bonaire, so they could easily get something out of the supermarket - When not vegan there are a few options to choose from, but not as much as a riu or something. I have visited this place twice and the second time were more options than before - Rooms 4* There are older and new rooms, the new rooms are really nice, but the old rooms are nog The cleaning staff keeps the doors open when cleaning, because of this there can be many mosquitoes in the evening - service 5* The only thing what could be better is the chefs who don’t want to make vegan food, everything else is great! - location 5* Small island, so everywhere would be fine

Wreck dives, night dives. Dive directly onsite off the beach. Air and Nitrox available 24/7. 1mi from downtown shopping, restaurants, and bars. Been twice and looking for 2024 already.

Just stayed here recently on a dive trip with a group .Property is very big and has a nice pool with restaurant and bar . I really liked the dive staff on property Tucan Divers. Boats were very well set up and divemasters were very helpful on our dives. The house reef was also really nice. I did not like there were no dive lockers and close by rinse tank . They had a common room area to store dive gear but the room was very small and there were no open cubby holes. Most divers prefered to rinse gear and move to their room which was no easy task since property was so big and sometimes had to walk far distances with heavy gear to rooms. Rooms did not have central AC and had only room units only. Some of the units worked great and their were a few people that complained that AC units were working poorly . Also the beds did not have sheets or covers to to fit the entire bed and also were left with only two small blankets. Sheets on bed were also not clean in my room as well. My room was spacious and updated otherwise. Hopefully with the renovations they will make improvements to this .

Excellent house reef for diving. Free air tanks for shore diving. Under construction right now but not a problem. Food was great with plenty of options. All employees were very friendly and helpful. All staff speaks english and dutch. Close enough to downtown to walk if you forgot or need anything. Reasonable laundry service available. Nice pool. No problems finding seating. No need to dress up for meals. Some nights have dinner live music entertainment.

When I got there I wanted to upgrade my room. I was told by Kevin Vargas that it would be $45 a night which was fine by me. I was later told by a William Dela Rosa it would be $65 a night. So on the last night I explained to him how his people said $45 a night and he argued that he told me $65 a night. I asked him to split the difference and maybe let's say $55 a night which he refused to do. What kind of customer service is that where you won't even compromise with a customer when one of his people say $45 and he says $65. I explained to him this was the second time my group has been there in a year and it would be a shame to lose a customer over $10 a night. He didn't seem to care and just walked away. I will be staying at the Flamingo next time I go there and I give their customer service an "F" unreal to lose a customer bad business that's all I'm saying. David Naimoli

This is not a chain owned hotel, and the hotel is older with rooms needing an update. The shower is poorly designed, and water splashes out onto the floor, or as in our case, flooded onto the floor. We used up our towels just sopping up the water. They are working hard on improving with new construction, and the new pool looks fabulous. Once they're finished with the new additions, maybe they'll refurbish the original rooms. The hotel is ideally located on the beach, and with Toucan Dive Shop on the premises, it makes for a diver's paradise. They have tanks located in strategic spots so you can grab a tank and head into the water for a dive. The staff at Toucan Dive Shop are awesome! Melissa Lington was a fantastic boat captain and took us to some cool spots to snorkel. Klien Bonaire is a must, and Toucan Dive will hook you up to the right trip for you! They have one bar, and it's always busy. The bartenders work nonstop, creating and serving delicious drinks. The restaurant is lacking in the service area. We waited over an hour for someone to come by and pour us some water. They are on island time and do not get in a hurry, but the staff should check on tables now and again. I would recommend this hotel, and we'll probably come back again (this was our 3rd time).

Went with a group of friends from the dive shop. Once we arrived and got the briefing about the grounds and our key cards we went to our room. The staff was awesome for helping us with bags and getting settled. I was close to the dive shop, but far from the restaurant. However, the distance from where to eat was no issue given I was able to walk along the beach. Food was buffet style with more options than I could try plus they had the grill going most days. I was very pleased with the food. The only bad part about the location is that it was close to the airport and you could hear the planes when outside, but it's not like there were 24-hour flights, so a very small issue. My sleep or relaxation was never affected. Quince was our host for the trip and that man is amazing. Super helpful. There is construction going on, but it was never an issue. Everyone on the resort was nice and willing ro help out. I love this resort and if I ever go back to Bonaire, I will be staying here.

They put us in their newest building, so new it hasn’t even been constructed yet! The hammers and power tools start at 7am and don’t seem to end so good luck taking a nap mid day. There’s no walkway to the room, nor is there a front door like every other suite here. We had to walk on jagged rocks and around trenches dug to lay pipes and wires. No place to hang wet clothes outside. No drawers to store clothes inside, only a couple hangers that get soaked when you use the shower because of the failed modern design (no shower door or curtain) There are some shelves but no lighting for them. I’m sure these will all be nonissues once this building is finished but it definitely put a damper on the trip. Sheets, towels, and pillow cases were all stained with black and grey splotches and brown and crimson smears. Housekeeping told me it’s just how the laundry machine works. The food is buffet style and hit or miss but most of the time it hit. The only saving grace here is the dive shop. Toucan Diving provided an amazing experience. Would definitely use them again. They have air tanks around the property for unlimited shore diving. You’re free to snag one and drive off the resort to any of the dive spots on the island. All in all, I had an amazing time and would definitely return even with all the issues with the hotel. I was here for a dive trip and they certainly didn’t disappoint in that category. If you’re not coming here to dive, I wouldn’t recommend this resort.

This place is under construction. Had I known that, I would've stayed somewhere else. I chose van der Valk because it is all inclusive. As of 12/7/22, there is 1 restaurant and 1 limited bar. I paid for the highest upgrade which had the premium drinks. Problem was, there were no premium drinks available. The restaurant served pretty much the same things every day. Good food, but mostly the same thing every day. The room itself, which was an upgrade, had a shower curtain hanging instead of a regular door to the bathroom. There were several bulbs out in our room and bathroom. The T. V. was constantly out. The bed was comfortable enough. The masquitos were awful in our room. We sprayed, which resolved the problem, but every day they came back because house keeping insisted on leaving the door wide open each day during their time there. So, every day we had to respray. The pillows are some sort of terrible joke. A pethetic ball of limp fluff inside a case 4 times its size. A/C could not keep up. And this was December... There were several outside showers, but only a couple of worked, so if you're needing to rinse off after snorkeling or diving, there will be a walk depending on where you went in the water. Lighting from the parking lot was non-existing. Dark, and muddy due to construction. I think the staff had been trained to agree with whatever you say. We asked for extra pillows 5 times! (3 phone calls, and twice with the cleaning lady) before finally going to the front desk on day 3 and asking again. Each time we asked they would sey, 'yes,no problem, we'll bring them right away". The same with wash clothes, for some reason they neglected to put them in the room. They finally located some on day four. The staff were mostly friendly. We loved the beach area and the restaurant was nice. The one bar area was nice. The swimming pool was nice. I also loved the marina. I wanted to like the place a lot more, but feel like they ripped me off with only having 1 restaurant and 1 limited bar, yet still charging me premium prices..... The place is going to be huge when they get it completed, with several more restaurants and bars, swimming pools, and even a boutique. I was told it would be another year before completion. I tried to get a massage but the spa closed early that day due to no appointments... By the looks of things, it's going to be a great place to stay when it's completed.

The dive shop, and dive operation is excellent. We had a week of really good 2 tank boat dives. The hotel itself is somewhat disappointing: rooms are quite old and dated, there is a TON of construction going on, some areas of the hotel seem abandoned, all inclusive food was at very good at times, other times very mediocre and uninspired. The beach bar is new, and quite nice. The view from waterfront is somewhat industrial- viewing the airport, and fuel refinery in another direction. Bonaire has great diving, and people are friendly!

Best Resort on Bonaire. Dive shop has great friendly and extremely helpful staff. Reefs make for great dive experiences. Only restaurant is buffer style, but food is delicious. They're building a big new facility so will probably have a sit down restaurant in late 2022.

Friday night music with female singing at plaza from 20.00 pm. People can dance along the bar. Nice ambiance. Happy time

No very clean. Not well maintained. Only one dining facility, outside, and virtually the same buffet every day. Very little choice. No menu ordering. It is a beautiful location, though any beachfront property is a good location! Staff not friendly or welcoming. Dive center seems very disorganized! But staff there are friendly.

We had a great stay. Rooms were nice, food was good and the view was awesome. Staff was very respectful and responsive. *** Only negative thing we experienced was the dive shop. We hope the resort partners with another one that is better managed. We don’t recommend Toucan Diving and left a separate review for them.

Excellent snorkeling in ocean enclosed area next to pool and beach. Very nice cabanas, beach chairs with palm tree umbrellas, huge pool area with bar lounge area... large air conditioned room with large two sink bathroom, tall shower with pull off sprayer if needed. Porch with table and chairs...very nice place!

Had a really good stay here where the views were just amazing! The best part of this resort is that it has its own private beach section, so it is never overcrowded and you do not have to struggle to find a spot on the beach / next to the swimming pool. One suggestion however would be that their cocktail selection seems limited if you're there for a week. The pool bar is out of stock on their food items more frequent than expected. Overall we had fun here and enjoyed the Snorkeling / Skuba diving (Toucan diving), will definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

Had an amazing time here! Rooms were large and comfortable. Views were amazing, food was good and the Scuba diving out front was tremendous!! Definitely looking forward to going back!

I can’t give better rate than 2 stars. The hotel premises are not very clean.3 glasses was left by stairs connecting to our room and stay there for a week.Hallways on each floor always dirty. The bar employees specially the afternoon crew are rude and ignored your presence as much they can(until I ask them why they ignoring the people there)and have absolutely no clue how to prepare a drink(we try many different ones just to see if they can get at least one right)so don’t waste your time on drinks and just ask for beer. Also the always have the music to loud.If you like to relax you have to be away from the bar.Unfortunately the pool and beach entrance it is by the bar. On the good side the beach water is wonderful cristal clear but be aware you need water shoes to get in otherwise hospital is where you go because you have to cross some rocks to get in.(This wasn’t a big deal for us because we do have scuba divers shoes) The restaurant person it is awesome and the food is great. Front desk people are nice. The Tuscan scuba dive you can tell they are very knowledgeable but they all looks like very unhappy to work there for some reason.

Very nice resort and amenities, great value, great staff, large rooms, quiet and comfortable resort. This is our second stay at the resort in three years. The staff was exceptionally helpful to me. My wife and I were close to our 25th anniversary and I wanted to give her a new engagement ring. I wanted the day to be special and unforgettable for my loving beautiful wife. I particularly wanted her to be surprised. I emailed Sanne Naber in the main office a few weeks in advance. I wasn't sure how to plan this event and work on all the details thousands of miles away. I sent an email to Sanne outlining my ideas. Sanne quickly responded with numerous options. Sanne worked with Maria and Jay to plan a horseback ride on the eastside of the island. We arrived back at the resort and walked to a beautiful spot on the beach where chairs, a table and beverages were waiting for us. A location where we could enjoy the sunset and I could tell my wife how much I love her. A private table with beautiful flowers and a lighted tent were waiting for us just down the beach for our evening meal. Sanne, Marie and Jay arranged for a local singer to sing a lovely song to us. Her voice was amazing. We enjoyed a fantastic intimate 4 four course meal with excellent wine combinations. Jay, a manager at the resort, provided us exception personal service at our table. We met the talented resort chef that prepared each delicious course. We returned to our room to find the team had decorated our room with flowers, balloons and yet another bottle of wine. I can't thank the staff enough. The timing and the attention to detail to every portion of that day was exceptional and so memorable. I had hoped for something nice but we were given an amazing and special day beyond any of my expectations. Sanne, Maria and Jay Thank you for a day my wife and I will remember for years to come!
