An amazing hostel 5 minutes walk away from the heart of Haarlem. The atmosphere is cosy and friendly and the common areas offer the perfect place to relax. The staff was very professional and incredibly helpful. Fabian, one of the staff in the hostel, organised for a group of guests to visit Haarlem night life. It was great to have someone showing us around and we had lots of fun. As I was travelling solo, it was an opportunity to connect with other guests and it would be great to have more activities like this organized by the hostel. If you are considering visiting Haarlem I highly recommend this place!

I stayed for 6 nights. 3 in the six bed women's dorm room and and 3 in a private room. The facilities are clean and the staff is warm and welcoming. There's a cafe with coffee and breakfast plus snack items. The beds were comfortable but the dorm felt crowded and some additional hooks would have been nice. The private rooms were fabulous. My only complaint is the noise at night. People cooking (banging around in the guest kitchen) and coming and going all hours of the night. Even with nice quality earplugs I wasn't able to sleep well.

It's a great hostel for the price. The service is very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. Regarding the location, it is a bit far from the train station, and if you are going to stay for little time like I did, then it may come as a downside. I stayed for 3 nights and visited 4 cities during that time. So the distance was quite a problem. However, if you have a long stay or are planning to see fewer things, then that will be fine. I'd like to state that the hostel is near the canals. Some pictures of my experience are attached to this review.

This hostel is one of the nicest hostels I've ever stayed at and worth the trip to Haarlem for. Super cosy, friendly, and the food and drink is great. Well located in Haarlem.

Staying here was a fantastic experience. What a fun location and building! The staff was welcoming and bent over backwards to make our experience even better than anticipated. Breakfast was fresh, local, and plentiful. Rooms were creative and comfortable. Relics repurposed from the area graced the decor and we kept finding wonderful treasures. We will be back to this gem!

Review only about CAFE: I had a friend staying here so we decided to have lunch at the hostel. The menu is surprisingly varied, and the prices are very reasonable. The falafel sandwich was great! Nice relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff.

Four Stars only because of a bed bug problem (this can happen at any place) which was handeled by the staff proffesionally, efficently and and quickly. The rooms are tidy and clean. We needed an extra blanket and got it right away. Staff was friendly and especialy Tara knew what she was doing (you guys are awesome). Houserules are enforced which is good. Heads up if you are a smoker: you have to exit the place entirely and walk 50 metres its a rule i can live with but you should keep this in mind if you are a smoker. Haarlem Innern City is about 10 minutes walking distance.

Really lovely stay in a beautiful part of the town. The rooms were extremely comfy, staff friendly, and the atmosphere was cosy. I highly recommend if you're planning a trip to Haarlem.

I wanted to have lunch there but I was not allowed because I had my dog with me. I sat to a table which was close to the entrance and was gonna order something but a waitress told me that I can’t because the dogs are not allowed when the kitchen is open. How weird! Maybe put a sticker on the door so we know we shouldn’t enter there with our furry family members🤨

I expected something by all the good reviews. Unfortunately it turned out to be a usual hostel. The cleanliness of the guest kitchen was soso. The microwave is broken and looked disgusting. On two of my three days I didn't had hot water for shower. The door handle to the ensuite bathroom in the dorm was broken and not really repaired (glue and duck tape didn't work obviously). The staff was nice and helpful. If they would keep the place cleaner it would be a nice experience to stay here. It's about 5 minutes walking to the city center of Harlem and about 15 minutes to the train station. No buses "close" by.

Stayed for two nights at this hostel in the female dorm. I requested for bottom bunk in my booking as I hurt my back, however I still got assigned to top bunk and it was difficult/painful to get up and down. Good that the washroom and shower were located in each dorm rooms so it was more convenient. The lights in the shower and washroom were pretty dimmed. The location of this hostel is not really closed to any bus stops/ train station but it was ok for me ‘cause the sceneries along the walk from train station to the hostel were great.

Comfortable, clean, well presented hostel with an easy going atmosphere. I thought the beds & facilities were really nice and thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. The surrounding neighborhood is lovely & worth visiting on its own, and the hostel is very accessible by train to central Amsterdam. Totally recommend!

We arrived at Hello I’m Local and immediately felt welcomed by the volunteers and workers. The volunteers who absolutely made our trip were Fabian, Emelyne, and Jules. They were all so genuine and enhanced our trip with helpful recommendations, experiences, and advice. I had left a letter underneath my pillow from a loved one and when I asked if they could try and find it, Fabian searched extensively for it and sent me a picture. Authentic, people, great location, and absolutely amazing krokets. I could not recommend this hostel enough.

From the moment we arrived to the moment we left Hello I’m Local, we were treated with warm hospitality from the entire staff and other travelers. Fabian, Emelyne, and Jules were particularly wonderful hosts, showing us some of their favorite places around town, sharing stories, and playing games with us, and I will never forget the memories we made. It was my first time in the Netherlands, but it certainly won’t be my last, and I’ll be sure to revisit my friends at Hello I’m Local upon my return!

The room was nice and bright and tidy with attached toilet and shower. The common kitchen area was ideal for small meal prep. The staff were friendly, open, outgoing and personable. This contributed to the family feel of the accomodation and helped for the visitors to extend that friendliness and chat, hang-out and eat in the main areas. I would definitely stay again. I would recommend it for any age traveler. It was a short walk to the train/bus.

Such a lovely place to stay and Haarlem is a wonderful place to be based. This hostel is so close to town and it's just a lovely walk across the canal to the museum. Our room (private but with shared bathroom) was very cute and cosy - we definitely want to stay here again!

I had the upper bed, and it was difficult to climb the ladder. The ladder made a creaking sound and felt shaky. It also hurt my feet. At night, when I needed to use the toilet, the creaking ladder could wake up the other guests in the room. There is no nearby bus stop from Haarlem station. You have to walk 15 minutes with your luggages/backpacks to reach the hostel.

It was above average stay. The pricing was bit steep, as it was 1.3 kms away from Haarlem station. It's 900m away from nearest bus station. The staff was nice and very courteous. Not exactly meant for solo travelers (lacked young vibes) as such but good place to stay.

I book last minute and those rooms in Amsterdam were very expensive, at least 68euro per night for dorm rooms per bed. So I decided to base here. Cosy rooms and not too expensive. Was in a 6 shared. The bed pods are quite small. You can't sit up properly on the bed. If you want to stay here and visit Amsterdam, factor in at least 15min walk and 20min train ride to Amsterdam centraal. However its only 5 to 10min walk to Haarlem city where you find all the action. I hope they put some effort to keep the guest kitchen clean. I think they were hoping that guest will keep it clean by itself. I would not recommend using this as a base if visiting Amsterdam unless you are prepared for the 70min commute to and fro.

It’s amazing! My expectations were blown out of my mind. Such nice and friendly people and the location is awesome! I would give 10 stars if it’s possible. I will definitely come back! Ty for this awesome time ❤️

A very beautifully decorated hostel with a charming café inside! Definitely one of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed, plus a wonderful location next to the canal. With all this praise this almost sounds like a fake review, which it is not 😃 the experience was made even more memorable thanks to the volunteers who spent their evening with the guests. Thanks particularly to Fabian, who collected all the guests to join for a game of cards! Highly recommended and will be back! 😊

My friends and I enjoyed the welcoming staff and beautifully decorated atmosphere. The best part of this hostel was the staff members- especially Fabian, Emelyne, and Jules. We were taken out on the town our first night and had a blast playing games, dancing, and getting to know each other. We also loved the location. We took a 15 minute train ride to Amsterdam and a 30 minute bike ride to the beach (we rented bikes through the hostel). Haarlem is beautiful! We also enjoyed the Dutch food at the hostel. My only complaint is that they did not have privacy curtains in our dorm room. There were 14 beds and it was difficult to sleep. I recommend getting a private room or a dorm with less people when you stay here. All in all, this hostel was lovely!

The building and location was amazing. The room for six ladies was overall quiet and spacious with fresh air. It was also very clean, beautiful and well maintained and so was the toilet and separate shower in direct connection to it. The bed was big and comfortable with nice linen and super comfy pillow and blanket. The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and customer focused. They were also easy to get in contact with, even before the stay and Fabian, who is one of a kind, went to great length to meet my needs as I checked in very late. I really loved this cosy hostel with it's beautiful surroundings, clean and comfortable rooms and super great staff, so I will most definitely come back another time. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This hostel is like an oasis in picturesque Haarlem. It’s only an approx 25 min commute to Amsterdam (10 min train ride +15 min walk from the hostel to Haarlem station). The atmosphere is calming yet sociable. I loved all the fresh air through the open door (+ security lock of course) to the street at night, which is great when staying in a dorm room. A great way to experience some of the best of the Dutch lifestyle.

Spent 4 nights recently with the family. Service & food is of a high standard, relaxing atmosphere. Rooms are small & tight but well decorated. Would recommend this spot for its value and great location..

Exactly the place we needed with my two friends. We selected the 8-dorm and our stay was just perfect! Cozy and friendly atmosphere :-) In the lovely city of Harlem (way cuter and nicer than Amsterdam to my opinion), close to the National Park close to the see.

A wonderful place to stay. The rooms are beautifully decorated and pleasant to stay in, the atmosphere homely and positive, the staff kind and professional. When hunger strikes there are a number of delicious options to choose from. A truly unique and lovely place designed and run with love.

Truly a nice and cozy place. The service is really friendly and will help you with everything. Wether where you can park your car or where the public transport leaves. They really are locals. The prices at the bar are extremely low and so are the prices for the really nice homemade food. We paid 50€ for one night which seems a bit much for the hostel like place, but it was worth it. The interior is totally comfy and you feel like you are at a friend's chaotic but cozy living room. Only minor flaw, we couldn't open the window in our room, but we were told the room was made new, so maybe that will be possible. For us, who originally wanted to go camping but got trouble with the weather it was the perfect shelter. A big recommendation if you want to explore the beautiful city of Harlem.

Small, but location and price are good. It's a great choice if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in the hostel. Staff is really friendly and competent, and the breakfast is delicious. Ambience is pleasant. Would definitely stay there again!
