The Obertor was built in the 13th century, it is located in the south of the former city fortifications of Neuss and is part of the medieval city fortifications. In 1985 the Obertor was listed as a registered monument. The two large round towers on the side facing out of town are striking. You can also see many walled-in spherical objects there. These are supposed to represent cannonballs that got stuck there in one of the many wars surrounding this city. (At least that's what a friend who comes from Neuss told me). Overall, a very massive historical object worth seeing. In one of the photos you can see and read a very nice and detailed information board with its description.
