The food was terrific but we won't be back. Why? The noise! We had reservations for 6:00 on Thursday. The restaurant was virtually full. The noise was terrible. We were shouting at each other to be heard. I have been in many loud restaurants, but this was actually a little painful. Please Gruene Door, get some drapes, rugs, sound absorbers, anything! Such good food -- it is too bad it was such an unpleasant experience.

Grabbed dinner friday night with my wife and was pretty thoroughly disappointed. I really thought The Gruene Door was going to be a five stars. The restaurant was clean and had a great ambiance. The artichoke dip and my starting salad were fantastic. However, after waiting an hour and 15 mins for our entrees, they had a lot to make up for, which they didn't. My wife's chicken picatta was devoid of any flavor, super bland, and my espresso rubbed short ribs were a generic pot roast. For the price, I could have got better food and significantly better service.

Wedding anniversary dinner with my beautiful wife, wanted to go to a place that served lamb chops. Was pleasantly rewarded with a beautiful restaurant, when you first walk up you are greeted by outside dining with a wood-burning fireplace and outdoor heaters creating a wonderful wood smoke smell in the air. Upon walking in we were greeted by an amazing ambience. Taken to our table you taking the beautiful look of the restaurant. Our waiter was polite knowledgeable and friendly. Made a few suggestions that we liked and put magnificent drinks in front of us from a truly talented mixologist. Followed by appetizers main course and dessert everything was flawless every step of the way. Will definitely revisit again

I've been to The Gruene Door many times. The last 2x I've had the pleasure of having Lauren as my server. Her attention to detail is amazing! We started with the Bruschetta, which will blow you away because they add goat cheese to it! I have always gotten the salmon with polenta and flash fried spinach. There's just something so unique about it! We finished with the brownie topped with ice cream, and I was done. The portions are huge. None of us could finish our food. The atmosphere is always very nice and respectable. Ask for Lauren when you go or make a reservation. You will not be disappointed!

I was with a group 13-15 ladies who met for lunch. I must say our waitress, Lauren, did an excellent job of taking care of us. She was informed , organized & served our meals quickly. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meal & my Spinach-Strawberry Salad was great.

Great restaurant w/ great food. My favorite meal is the Chicken Piccata w/ green beans. The 16 Oz Ribeye w/asparagus is also a favorite. Love their chocolate dessert w/ice cream. They definitely have the best green beans I have ever tasted. Love the location and overall ambiance. Staff is good and attentive. Reservations can be done online and worth doing. Plenty of parking w/local shopping.

I had heard this one was one of the best restaurants in the New Braunfels area - and it was! Had the 8 oz beef tenderloin, asparagus & potatoes. Tenderloin was a perfect medium-perfectly seasoned & cooked. I don't usually finish asparagus - but I finished these. My wife had the Caprese salad & crab cakes w/flash fried spinach from the small plate menu. Perfectly prepared, seasoned & plated. Crab cakes were Baltimore style and rivaled them. The wine selection is great, good variety & price selection. The kitchen & chef are putting out great food! This place is a find. We'll be back.

Honest review, first to last impressions, no fluff here: Eat here if you are looking for a Everything about this place represented QUALITY! Spinach dip came out as if freshly prepared when ordered still boiling hot like you would see on a cooking show! Just go here, don't think twice and you will also be treated beautifully!

Great service and communication from server. The Old Fashioned is to die for! Bruschetta was also very good. Worth a stop if you're in Gruene. Also, they've got a distinguished selection of wine.

Absolutely amazing dinner. Walked in on a busy Saturday night without reservations and were lucky enough to get seated at the bar. Jack was running the bar and was great, recommended some different drinks and really took care of us. The Tuna, the Shrimp Gratin and Bruchetta were wonderful. Do not miss out on a chance to dine here.

I haven't eaten anything this good since living in Europe, well besides maybe my cooking. Top notch! If you haven't already tried this place or in for a treat. From start to finish, the chef knows what he is doing with the food accompaniments. Fresh clean savory tastes.

Thoroughly enjoy steaks cooked medium rare correctly and surprisingly so many miss. They didn't here was really good fillet and the shrimp were probably top 3 lifetime. Froze while eating AC little strong only complaint. Will definitely go back just wish they had smoked duck breast from web page, wanted to try it.

The service was fantastic service Jade was a gift. The patio was a respite from the crowds on the high street. A full menu we were well past lunch but a vegan opt from the menu was prepared and very flavourful. The wine list and cocktail menu were brilliant . A first choice

This restaurant, as a local, is always at TOP of our list! It checks everything off! Service is always phenomenal as soon as we walk in the door. We are always greeted with a smile. Every waiter or waitress we’ve ever had is so attentive and friendly, but BEST OF ALL the FOOD IS SO GOOD! Always fresh, flavorful, and delicious!! Thank you Gruene Door for the consistent EXCELLENT food and service! I added a photo of MY favorite dish the chicken piccata no capers with flash fried spinach!! We don’t always indulge in desert, but did this time!

What a great meal! We had the chicken piccata and the tenderloin pasta. Our server made us some delicious drinks as well. She brought out the bread and a side of sharp cheddar grits which were both fantastic. Can't wait to come back here! Definitely the best meal we had in TX!

Cozy little gem tucked away in Gruene TX. Absolutely divine and so very quaint. The service was amazing and the salmon with the wok fried spinach was to die for. The cutest little place to go during the holidays. It is very festive and has a great atmosphere if you are looking to celebrate the holidays or anything special at all. I will definitely return.

This is our favorite place to eat. The food is freshly prepared and the drinks are always perfection. We have yet to be disappointed. Also, the waitstaff always is so attentive.

Great bread. Rack of lamb was over-salted and had very little flavor. The duck had no flavor and had very little sauce. Brown rice had no flavor. Hard chairs. Three stars is a bit of a stretch but it is a nice clean restaurant.

The pasta was cooked well and the meat was cooked perfectly. The only thing I would change is adding just a bit more vegetables. The cocktails here are very well balanced also- the bartender knows what he's doing. I would highly recommend this establishment.

Upon the recommendation of family members my wife and I went to this restaurant on our 42nd wedding anniversary. The food was wonderful - especially the pecan-encrusted rack of lamb. We had a wonderful dinner with great service. Think of it as a quiet casual boutique restaurant with a white tablecloth atmosphere. We will definitely be returning this restaurant on our next trip to South Texas.

Excellent food preparation. We go here when we want an excellent meal. Very close to Gruene downtown, but far enough away to have parking and availability. Limited menu, but each item is excellently prepared. Salmon, chicken, pasta. Impressive burgers, fries reportedly best ever. Homemade sherbet, best cheesecake I have ever had, ...

Our office was able to have lunch as a group here yesterday to celebrate some corporate anniversaries. Thank you for making our lunch memorable and timely. Everything was so delicious and our waitress, Rachel, couldn't have been better! And, so easy to make a reservation for our group. Love this little NB gem.

We had the 16 oz center cut ribeye steak with side salads, mash potatoes and asparagus. The sides were all very delicious as was the steak. Although the steak was a bit on the tough side. The restaurant was very nice with service being very good also. Nice atmosphere, although a bit loud.

The food itself is worthy of Food Network feature status and the cocktails are just as noteworthy. Lauren B. will take great care of you whether you are at a table or just hanging out at the bar. Hands down my favorite spot in NB, you will not be disappointed.

Service was ok. They were fast and efficient but our waitress had to little to no interaction with us. The taste and quality of the food was the most disappointing. My wife had the 8 oz filet with shrimp for $51 and I had the rack of lamb for $38. Both were rather bland and tasteless. We were hoping for service and taste that were worthy of the price, however it was barely on par with the quality you’d expect from a place like Texas Roadhouse. There was nothing special AT ALL. We paid $150 for 2 drinks, 2 entrees, and one dessert which had they tasted great, we would have gladly paid. Unfortunately the food was just tough and tasteless. The dessert was excellent thankfully. The waitress we had never asked us how anything was and we only saw her when we ordered and when our food was brought out. Had she asked, I definitely would’ve sent to lamb back. We had high hopes, but after our experience I see no reason to return.

The Gruene Door is one of the best restaurants we have been to. The food is incredible. Clean, delicious food. The steak is incredible, and you can tell the chef and cooks care about what they send out of their kitchen. The staff is kind and welcoming. If you are looking for a nice place to eat an excellent meal The Gruene Door has you covered.

The atmosphere, food, and waiter was great. Our waiter Crosby (hopefully that is the right name) was very polite and attentive to us. The food was delicious and came out very quickly. My husband's steak was medium well not medium rare, but he said it still tasted good. Our waiter offered to take the steak back without us mentioning it, however my husband said it was fine. I would definitely recommend this place and we will be returning to it again soon.

Fantastic! Every thing we ordered was delicious and cooked to perfection. The meat, cheese, and fruit board was amazing and was more than enough for 3 people. Service was nice, the ambiance was relaxing, I will be going back.
