The Coastal Breakfast with the Lobster Sauce was excellent! Highly reccomend. The deconstructed fruit parfait was nice. Also had fried green zucchini. The wait staff reccomended all the food and it was excellent. Very attentive and great service. Will be back!

This restaurant takes normal Cafe food to another level. We started our meal with fried green tomatoes. They were crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I had the meatloaf. Don't let the peach tomato sauce turn you away from this dish. The sweet accent of the peach with the meatloaf is very clever. The sides were just as good. Real mashed potatoes, green beans and cornbread stuffing. My husband enjoyed his fried fish, but he thought the real star of his lunch was the black eyed peas. He said he could have just eaten a big bowl of the peas with cornbread. The decor was lovely and the service was great!

I've been here twice. Once was before the pandemic and once was recent. Both experiences were great. The place is small but cute. I like all the different seating options. The food is always perfect. I loved the corned beef hash. The employees are friendly.

We are here around 8:30 am on a Wednesday. Called on our way to get on the waitlist as I’d seen that suggested from others. This particular day and time we could have gotten sat immediately so the call ahead was not necessary but hey, better safe than sorry! They only serve eggs Benedict on the weekends and currently they are closed on Saturday so that leaves 1 day to get this item, big fat bummer as many reviews reference this item and I was hoping to try it . Plan B - I got the coastal dish and my husband got the grilled Banana Bread. My dish was delicious!! The shrimp were huge and plentiful (I think 5) The lobster sauce was delightful and seasoned perfect, no need for additional salt! Bravo chef! It does come with a side of buttered toast but I HAD to try a biscuit. It looked dry but alas it was so moist and flavorful that I didn’t even butter it. Now my husbands meal was not so glamorous. First off it was cold and dry. I encouraged him to send it back and order something different but that’s not his style. He said it was edible with a ton of syrup. 🤦‍♀️ He said his bacon was great though! I did take a bite of the banana bread and I didn’t think it was as dry as he thought it was however it WAS lacking in flavor in my opinion. Some reviews mentioned getting free muffins before their food arrived. I’m guessing they only do this when there’s a wait so we didn’t experience that. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent. Overall if you’ve never been here, give it a try!

This is a great place to stop if you are driving from San Antonio back to the DFW area. We stopped today for breakfast on our way home. Very clean, welcoming country atmosphere. I asked for the avocado toast and my husband for the country breakfast. Both dishes were freshly cooked and delicious! Kelly was our server and he was very attentive and helpful. This restaurant is definitely on our must stop places from now on! A great way to start our day!

WOW!! You know when you eat something and your eyes roll back and you think, “I can die happy now”? No? Just me? Oh..😅 well let me just say, buttermilk cafe definitely exceeded my expectations. My mom and I went for brunch and everything was amazing so we decided to get some dessert to-go for later in the evening. The only (and minuscule) negative thing I can say is my poached egg was quite a bit undercooked for my liking BUT the staff was SO AMAZING and fixed that for me right away AND brought me an extra egg. The staff was all soo kind and attentive. The food is wonderfully comforting and very flavorful; Buttermilk cafe is my new favorite spot and very much worth the wait! Planning on going back tomorrow! We ordered the buttermilk pancake (thick and perfect!), applewood smoked bacon (ridiculously good!), grits with cheese and fried eggs, the coastal something or other🤔 the one with lobster sauce ! (Drooling just thinking about it), the ABSOLUTE BEST buttermilk pie I’ve ever had (and I’ve tried many) and finally the pumpkin trifle (really hitting the spot while I watch Halloween movies). Do yourself a HUGE favor; go to church, eat brunch at Buttermilk Cafe, go antique shopping and finish your day off eating their buttermilk pie in some comfy pajamas. Seriously, the perfect Sunday! 😂😍

Went on a Sunday, there was a long wait time. But definitely worth the wait. Their mash potatoes did not need gravy to taste good! Can you believe that! Man it was good, if I could compare this style of break fast to any place it would be Cracker Barrel except this place is 100x better.

Food was extremely good and service was amazing!!! I highly recommend this place to eat with your family. I got the Country Fried Steak with Mac and Cheese, French Fries, and Mashed Potatoes.. Mashed were really creamy, Mac and Cheese had a nice cheese pull and tasted amazing, French were crispy and had a good amount of Seasoning, and finally the Country Fried Steak was crispy and had good flavor.

Fully enjoyed our brunch today that included buttermilk pancakes and a broken yolk panini and couldn’t resist the buttermilk pie. If you go on Saturday they have an amazing eggs Benedict. Love the farmhouse look. Quite the quaint little gem and scrumptious food. Would recommend and will return.

Great tasty food. Chicken fried steak was somewhat schnitzel style that was well seasoned and tender. Gravy, served on the side in a cup for dipping, was the perfect amount for the steak with some leftover for my biscuits which were soft and pillowy. The quiche was moist and creamy and the fruit cup was beautifully presented. Nice clean environment with great, fast service. The coffee here is really good. Not sure what they are brewing but it's tasty! If you're in New Braunfels give this place a try! You won't be disappointed!

The weekend wait was around 30min. Food was good. Maybe needed a little more flavor on the eggs and waffle. Eggs needed pepper and the waffle was thick and doughy.aunt bacon grease mixed in? The homemade chips were great. The chicken fried steak was great. We would go back and try different meals.

Cosy restaurant with excellent service. It was semi packed, but we didn't wait long to be served and our order came out quickly. I ordered the French Toast platter with eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. Spouse ordered the Waffle platter with eggs and bacon. The waffle was perfectly crisp and golden! The French Toast was light and fluffy - perfect texture and taste! We ordered two coffees with almond and hazelnut flavoring. Waiter was friendly and attentive. Definitely a spot to visit when in New Braunfels! 👍

Wonderful place with friendly atmosphere and very tasty food. Avocado toast and fried green tomatoes were absolutely amazing. Fresh and crispy toast with a lot of green stuff and very yummy tomatoes. It's absolutely worth to wait 10-15 minutes for a table.

As it was quite busy and our waitress had a lots of tables so it was a little wait to order but the food came out fast and hot. We had appetizers, which were delicious the and 2 egg dishes. Only compliant was I wished the shirred eggs come out pretty much hard boiled. Next time I'll try a different type of eggs. The management did offer to get something else which was a plus.

Today was our first time trying buttermilk Cafe, and we were not disappointed in the slightest. The eggs were cooked perfectly. The red skin breakfast potatoes were very flavorful, they were crispy on the edges and super soft inside. The bacon was perfectly to my liking, not super crispy but not too soft either. The biscuits and the sausage gravy were absolutely divine. The pancakes were soft and fluffy and delicious. The grits were cooked perfectly, and with a little butter salt and pepper they were delicious. And I'm really glad I talked myself into ordering the cinnamon roll, it was so soft and fluffy, the cream cheese icing on top was absolutely sinful, I didn't finish two bites of it and I felt like it was a crime to leave it behind. This may be an establishment we have to visit more in the future.

Today was my very first time eating at this hidden gem and it certainly won’t be my last. The staff and the atmosphere were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was amazing. I, had the wheat berry French toast (which was lightly dusted with powdered sugar and garnished with strawberries) was cooked to a golden brown, scrambled eggs that were scrambled hard to perfection and 2 pineapple mimosas that were the ideal compliment to my meal. This is definitely an establishment I will visit AGAIN in the near future.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! BEST BREAKFAST IN TOWN Becka was my server, 100 percent perfect service! Stopped here for breakfast on the way to the lake to fish. Arrived at 920am the said 35 minute wait. Was seated and order taken at 945am. Fantastic attitude from all the employees. Fabulous food. I had Cafe breakfast. Food was cooked to perfection. I will be back to try the migas. I was seated in the small room on the right. They bring out coffee cake for starters, soft and flaking and rich in flavor. Not over sweet. Becka was a perfect server! I giver her 5 stars alone! Everyone was in great spirits and full of smiles!

Came to the cafe due to reading about their gluten free french toast when we were in town. The cafe is an interesting study in decor - old pews to sit on while waiting, tin roosters, framed painted pictures of fruit, country style kitchen, modern geometrical ceilings, china displays from granny's, and all in arranged in a way that displays multiple decades of decor. We were greeted quickly and taken to our table after a short wait. Our server struggled to be friendly and came across as begrudging. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about.

We are traveling and googled this restaurant. We were so pleased with the friendly atmosphere, starting with the greeters at the entrance to our hostess Marci and the chef who made us some fantastic delicious food. If ever in the area, we will be back.

I moved to this town about a year ago In May 2022 . So being new to the town, I was in search of some good food so I checked google and randomly picked this one. I looked at their menu and decided to give it a try. When I arrived, surprisingly there was a long wait outside but the line was moving pretty quickly so I decided to wait. when I finally entered I noticed the decor-it was simply pleasing with a southern vibe. I met one of the owners “RC” and he was such a delight. I ordered the [Creole breakfast] and “oh my delicious “I was blown away, everything paired so well. The meal was hot & tasted fresh, the grits were creamy and smooth, the shrimp tasted like it had just been caught (not frozen) and best of all the service was equally fantastic. Now, fast forward almost a year later I returned hoping that I would have the same experience. To my pleasant surprise this [2nd ]experience was just as great if not better. I ordered the same dish and It was just as joyful as the first experience the only difference is this time I also ordered the grilled banana bread😋. If you ever plan to visit check their hours first because they do close early and if there is a line trust me it’s worth the wait! Oh yeah, say hi to Alex and RC for me awesome staff. 🤗

Important - currently closed Tuesday and Saturday due to staffing shortages This place made THE BEST waffle I’ve ever had in my life! Chicken was cooked to perfection and the staff was awesome! Ordered a biscuit and gravy (not pictured) - AWESOME This place is busy but if there is a wait it’s worth it!
