They have the absolute best old fashioned I have ever had in my entire life. They have imported black plum cherries. The bartenders are all very welcoming and very experienced they make the very best drinks in the state. If you are looking for exemplary service and absolutely spectacular cocktails this is the place. I could not have imagined a better experience from the ambiance to the service to the drinks this place is spectacular!!

If you like a speakeasy style experience then is an ok place. I like cocktails a lot and found this place lacking. I stayed up stairs in the open area and just had beers. Classic cocktails had house made names, the bartender muddled orange peel in a glass for an old fashioned, and the vermouth had a weird taste which indicated it had not been refrigerated. I realize this seems real nit picky, but like I said, I like well done mixed drinks. If you are really in to the cocktail experience then there is another local haunt you should try.

What an incredible hidden speakeasy in the heart of Gruene. The drinks are spectacularly delicious and we'll balanced and are priced according. $$$ Not the cheapest place for sure, but such a cool venue.

Do not bring your dog. They aren't allowed even though they have a picture of a dog on the couch and they answered someones question in a previous post saying they do allow dogs. I brought my dog in there two weeks ago and was immediately told to leave.

I was really sad to hear that Goodwins was still closed on July 12, 2021. Best bartender ever. It is a really special place and hands down the best cocktails I have ever had. The care and attention that is placed into each drink along with all the homemade ingredients and hard to find spirits make this an unmatched experience. I hope they are open soon!

Been to many bars/Speakeasy Bars. Very overpriced, 4 drinks with a tip, $250. Drinks were substandard, didn't finish mine. Enjoyed the atmosphere. But think more attention to drink quality and price would be an upgrade.

This underground speakeasy was an awesome place to go for a drink after spending the day in Gruene. The drinks are great quality, and the service is super attentive. The only thing I would note, is that there is very limited seating. You are not guaranteed a seat, but you are guaranteed to have a good time if you enjoy a good historical feel. Drinks are not cheap, but that’s how you know it will be worth it. The speakeasy is NOT kid friendly, but there is an are above the speakeasy where minors are allowed.

Ordered 3 drinks from the Speakeasy. I had to order 2 margaritas because I found 2 gnats in my first drink and 1 gnat in my ice cube the second time. Facilities are not clean. $40 for 3 drinks with gnats in them. Would not recommend. Bartender was friendly.

This is by far the best bar experience I've ever had in my life. I truly mean that and I grew up in fort worth. I'm a history nut and love the period knowledge and history behind the drinks which they specialize in 1880-? Drinks. It's always a pleasure knowing even my great great grandmother knew how to have a good time. Also it's refreshing to have a drink experience where the isn't screaming Bachelorette party's in your ear. So hats off to this place.

Craft cocktails in a quaint, hidden spot in town. The service and drinks are just as charming as the town it’s in.

Oh my gosh. If you need to get out of the heat and away from the chaos, have a seat here. It opens late (6pm) but was a great hidey hole to get away from the masses of people. Several dark rooms to hide in too!

The best cucumber martini ever! The bartenders take their drinks to a new craft level and have the best customer service skill set. Such a great place to get out of the heat and have a cold one!!

We had a wonderful experience by getting curious, walking down the stairs, and attempting to open the door. The bar manager invited us in and proceeded to explain the history of each cocktail we ordered. We happened upon Goodwins when the holiday rush had already left town, which made for a quiet evening with solid music. The drinks were “layered” where the first sip tasted different from the last. Try the Floradora or Bramble if you go. Highly recommend!
