The Shah tomb of the third Sayyid monarch (a lesser known line in the Delhi Sultanate) was built in the 15th century. It's the tomb of Muhammad Sayyid Shah. It's a beautiful octagonal structure though entirely built of Delhi quartzite with limited ornamentation. The structure is a massive structure and houses tombs of the Sultan and his family. It's one of the first structures you see when you enter Lodi Gardens.

This mausoleum is the tomb of Muhammad Shah, the third Sultan of the Sayyid dynasty. The mausoleum is a stand alone structure with an octagonal shape with another octagonal inner room that houses the tomb. The outer structure is supported with so many columns, it forms a pretty octagonal ambulatory around the inner room. Sadly, it's not possible to enter the inner room as it's fenced off. The tomb is clearly visible through the fence and is typical of Islamic style narrow cenotaphs. Each side of the octagon is topped with a small dome, surrounding a much larger dome that caps the central room. Entrance to the tomb and the park is free, and is well worth a visit if you have time in Delhi.

The tomb of Muhammad Shah IV, the third ruler of the Sayyid dynasty, is one of the larger tombs surviving from this period. It is located within the Lodi Gardens that was designed by the Sayyids and Lodis in the fifteenth and sixteenth century. It is based on a configuration used mostly for royal tombs-an octagonal chamber ringed by an outer arcade, while square tombs were for high-ranking members of society. Each face is pierced by three arched openings with a running 'chhajja' (overhanging eaves supported by stone corbels) above. The corner of the octagon is reinforced by a sloping buttress. The central dome sits on a sixteen-sided high drum, giving the tomb greater verticality. Hindu influence is reflected in the eight 'chhatris' that ring the dome, each centered and in line with a face of the octagon. The dome of each 'chhatri' is a smaller version of the central dome, each capped by a lotus finial with a decorative band around the base.

A good place to spend some quite time in the fast moving city life. You won't feel like you're in Delhi. The sound of traffic, honking etc will change into sound of birds. The Lodhi gardens are so green and big. You can try clicking pictures also. Many people come here for picknik and Photography. Do visit if you love Nature!

Known as Bda Ghumbad... ΰ€¬ΰ€‘ΰ€Όΰ€Ύ ΰ€—ΰ₯ΰ€‚ΰ€¬ΰ€¦. This place is situated inside Lodi Garden. Lodi Garden is one of the most adventurous places to visit in Delhi for free. It's is build after the Sikander Lodi, second Emperor of the Lodi dynasty. Sikander Lodi Tomb is here and Bda Gumbad is also here. Lodhi Garden has many other attraction too like Rose Garden... Herbal Garden and Bonsai Garden... It has its bird Century too where you can see ducks, cranes and other birds. It has big lake too where you can sit and enjoy fountains. It's such a beautiful experience to sit there and watching fountains flowing. You can watch fish flocks too in the lake. There is Sheesh Mahal too. Overall the place is a must visit and The best time to visit is early in the morning or evening after 3 PM .

Delhi, Lodi Gardens, Tomb of Muhammad Shah Sayyid This octagonal maqbara (tomb) of Muhammad Shah Sayyid is located near the south-west corner of the Lodi Gardens. The tomb was built in 1444 for the third Sayyid sultan Muhammad Shah. Due to the inheritance of greatly diminished state coffers, the Sayyid's could not commission monumental buildings. As a result, their architectural legacy manifested in small tombs and mausoleum built throughout Delhi.

It’s very beautiful place,it places help to your mind cool Lodi Garden, located on Lodi Road between Safdurjung’s Tomb and Khan Market in south Delhi, covers an area of 90 acres and is dotted with beautiful monuments and tombs, belonging to the Sayyid, Lodi and Mughal dynasties. With its undulating walking paths and jogging tracks fringed with ancient trees, colorful shrubs and flowering plants, the garden’s historical past is evidence of how the city’s present encompasses within itself a rich past.

This is kind of a peaceful place as it is cut off from the other three monuments in the premise therefore experiencing less number of visitors and giving a chance to connect to the contemporary art and the effort put on by the artisans that worked on the tomb.

The Shah Tomb belongs to Mohammed Shah, the Sultan ruler of Delhi in the early 15th century from the Sayyid dynasty. It is currently a part of the Lodhi Gardens compound as Ibrahim Lodi built a similar tomb in memory of his father Sikander Lodhi in 16th century adjacent to this place. The Archeological Survey of India currently looks after this tomb which is also a popular tourist spot.

The place was serene, and kept well. The tomb in general plan and outline is derived from the tomb of Khan-i-Jahan Tilangini. The dome's base is octagonal and height is increased in comparison to previous architecture by placing it on a high drum and around it on the roof were placed graceful domed pavilions or kiosks raised on pillars. Finials were added at the angles of the many-sided drum of the dome. The novel type of pinnacle used in this tomb is that of Lotus which later became a prominent feature in Mughal architecture as well. Happy sight seeing.

Its such a pleasure to be part of this heritage. Lotus on the top of the gumbaj , hindu and islamic symbols intertwined together, tombs of Indian hindu as well as muslim rulers. I think there is more than what meets the eye about the history of our great nation.. Nehru played the british game and systematically whitewashed the history of our great nation. Its amazing what karma one carries when they create such huge loss abd misguidance to such a large people..
