This place is huge but cozy. They light up candles at night that make a great ambiance. I really enjoyed the food but the service wasn't top notch. When we arrived there was a waitress complaining about some clients to another waiter in Spanish, which we perfectly understood, and I don't think that's a thing you should be doing at the host podium while clients are literally walking in. The service was quick but the same waitress had a bit of an attitude during our visit, not directly towards us but you could tell she wasn't having a pleasant time and that could transfer to clientele pretty quick, we let it slide but still bothered us. We enjoyed the food a lot, it was more like traditional Mexican tacos with a tiny twist, but it was really really appetizing. The Tacos al Pastor are my favorite and theirs didn't let me down. We ordered like 2 tacos each person because we didn't want to be stuffed but ended up ordering more food because everything was very exquisite. We also got the corn esquites, it was incredibly flavorful and had great texture. I found their prices to be reasonable, not too high and not cheap either. You pay for what you're getting, the restaurant and the food.

The service was good. Nice simple menu. Everything came out fast. Lots of flavor. I had a chicken taco and my husband had the fish taco. The nachos were a little too thick and hard. The salsa was amazing also.

I love Mexican food and I love my tacos to have more flavour and sauce. This place is more on the authentic side so it was us adding more stuff on top of our food. but overall it was delicious. The decor was absolute beauty.

Food was very good. We ate the tacos and quasadillas, very flavorful. Also had the spicy margaritas which were delicious. Atmosphere is diner style, so I didn't love it for Mexican food, and the service was not the best. My only negatives. Very close lunch stop after visiting the Empire State building and reasonably priced.

This place was delicious! My husband and I saw this place after going up the Empire State Bldg. We decided to go in for dinner as we were really hungry. The place looked nice, but we weren’t expecting the food to be as good. To our surprise, the food was delicious; it really tasted like real Mexican food! My husband and I are from Mexico City but have lived in Texas for three years. We haven’t found a place as good as Tacombi, not even in Texas. We just suggested they added desserts to their menu. We’re sure they’ll be as good as rest of their food. I highly suggest you pay them a visit; you’ll leave satisfied and ready to visit again soon.

Authentic tacos at reasonable prices in midtown. $5-7 tacos, $13 burritos, $10 quesadillas. Canned beers were $7, but you can get a bucket of 5 for $24. Fast service..food came in minutes. Clean open space. Clean bathroom.

Got to know about Tacombi from a travel guide and love the aesthetic of each different outlet. Only managed to squeezed in this outlet located at Empire state building, and love the massive space, and the interior design of this outlet. Menu wise it's pretty straight forward and easy to decide. I ordered a fish taco (which was great!), the usual pork taco and a beef quesadilla. Would certainly hope the meat to be a little bit warmer, especially the beef. But overall it was a pretty good experience for my last meal in NYC before flying back home.

The tacos are delicious!! It feels like a taqueria in Mexico! The closet to tacos al pastor that I have tasted outside Mexico! Below a breakdown of our order: -Esquites - soooo yummy! A most have! -Guacamole - it was creamy and the chips were nice and crispy! - Tacos al pastor- it was the best! The meat is very flavorful. - Tacos de Carne asada- it was delicious, it felt authentic. - Tacos de Carnitas - they were good but it can improve, I won't order them again. - Gringa - My kids loved it! The meat is just so good!

Service was excellent& prompt ! The overall vibe and energy uplifts your mood. Food was limited for vegetarians but we enjoyed every dish ordered. Candle light perpetuates the food. Reservation is preferred. Music is soothing.

This Mexican place was amazing. Everything we had was EXCELLENT. all the drinks, the corn in a cup, the tostada, the tacos. Get it all and enjoy. Very cool environment, decor. Super friendly staff. Very nice bar, open kitchen. I love the layout and the tile work. Strongly recommend the Corn Esquites.

Really good authentic Mexican food for a reasonable price. Seared fish tacos were fantastic as was the sweet potato tostada. Our first course came out quickly but our tacos didn't come out for while. There was a mistake and our order was never put in. The manager was super apologetic and took care of us. Will definitely come back here again.

Title: "An Unforgettable Experience of Authentic Mexican Delight!" Review: My culinary journey at Tacombi Empire State Building was nothing short of spectacular. As I stepped through the door, I was warmly welcomed into an ambiance that whisked me to a charming Mexican street scene. The friendly staff and the festively cheerful atmosphere provided an unforgettable backdrop to a delicious meal. From the moment I tucked into the Guacamole Y Sals Cruyda, I knew I was in for a unique experience. The appetizer was a symphony of flavors, perfectly setting the tone for the main courses about to arrive. The Carne Asada and the Baja Crispy Fish Tacos were the stars of the evening. The former was brimming with Sonoran-style Holstein beef exquisitely topped with cilantro, onion, and an avocado-tomatillo salsa. The latter presented a crispy, wild-caught Alaskan Cod that was expertly complemented with a homemade roasted poblano mayonnaise. Each bite was an exploration of authentic Mexican cuisine, served in a modern setting yet deeply rooted in tradition. One cannot overlook the drinks at Tacombi. I tried both the pineapple and watermelon drinks, both of which were refreshing, but the pineapple one stole the show. It was expertly chilled and offered the perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors, which was the ideal accompaniment to the rich flavors of my meal. Despite being in the bustling heart of Midtown Manhattan, the restaurant was a haven for those seeking an intimate dinner. The candlelight and dim, relaxed setting added an extra layer of tranquillity to the evening. Despite hearing that the restaurant can get crowded, my experience was smooth and enjoyable. I also found the portion sizes to be more than satisfactory, with the quality and authenticity of the dishes justifying the price. Overall, Tacombi Empire State Building provided me with an exceptional dinner, and it has my highest recommendation. Whether you're a New Yorker or a visitor, looking for a spot to enjoy a casual meal with friends or family or searching for authentic Mexican flavors, this place should be on your must-visit list. I look forward to returning for more delightful culinary adventures!

I felt transported to Mexico City 🇲🇽 authentic cafeteria style restaurant that’s still classy and a fun place to go for a night out. We met our friends for dinner, everyone’s first time. We were greeted warmly and seated in a plush red booth. The menu is bare bones, simple. You check off the quantity on the menu/slip given to each member of the party. Including drinks! We ordered guacamole, burritos, and a six pack of beers. My vegan burrito was okay, a bit bland. And the guacamole was alright, but again, a bit bland. Suffice to say, it was very reasonably priced for the experience. I would definitely go back again!

We did the Empire State Building Tacombi set menu which is a great deal if you’re planning to visit the Empire State Building! Regardless, this is a great spot to visit - such quality food at reasonable pricing. The corn esquites was PHENOMENAL. I am vegetarian and do not like beans or sweet potatoes, yet their veggie taco (Black Bean y Sweet Potato) was delicious! Our drinks were great and overall we kept being delighted at the freshness and flavor of every item here. Staff is kind and ambiance was nice (candles & dimmed lighting) when we came in the evening. Would return!

Great quality tacos that work well for a sneaky lunch! Restaurant is very spacious inside and has a old school diner vibe to it. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Try one of their sodas too! Make sure you have your vaccination card handy!

The tacos had good flavor and the meat was well seasoned. And perhaps my only unfortunate takeaways (one being preference) were the salsas did not bring heat and my tortillas were cold (short walk to my office) :/ - I’ll give them another try at some point.

Outstanding authentic Mexican food right in the middle of Manhattan, on the ground floor of the iconic Empire State Building. We were in for lunch and the service was quick and very friendly. The food is excellent with some of the best tacos we’ve ever eaten. Highly recommended!

I might be used to Florida prices but this place is ridiculously expensive and the portions are tiny $7 for small taco with one slice of meat Not worthy. A joke Service is pretty weak too. They never cleaned our table and just came back to bring the bill. Hated! Never again

Loved the idea of having a menu where you check off what you want and how many of it - especially for something like tacos. Their avocado tostado was so good with the cotija cheese and the pickled onions on top - I ordered another one after finishing my first one. The black bean and sweet potato taco was also really good. This place also had Maya Cola which was such a treat to drink.

Someone recommended this place after I recommended a more expensive place to get good tacos. 😂😂 He told me it was good and affordable. I mean I still love my other place but this is more a casual spot. Tacos were good, definitely will keep going there for a quick fix. Lol

The eskite was alright. Just different to what my fam and I are used to. The quesadilla a bit greasy and the meat in it a bit bland as well. The meat in the taco was a bit bland also but their fresh waters, hospitality, and promptness was on point!! Three mins in and our food was already out! They were very attentive. I’d give it another try.

Amazing find! Inexpensive considering the flavour of food and dining choices in the area. Loved the carne asada taco and chips with salsa crudo as a starter. Wish we had this joint where I live!

What a breath of fresh air in our NYC experience so far. Fast friendly service for a start. Feels like what I imagine a Mexican market/eatery would feel like. Food was fresh, delicious and not too expensive considering it's location. Also the Maya Cola was a surprising favourite for a long time Pepsi/coke drinker. Came away after a couple of tacos each feeling full but not in a bad way. Definitely recommend.

The food was good and the place was beautiful but they need way more food and drink options on their menu......also The fresh watermelon juice was amazing.

Went here for the first time the other day and was so impressed with the food. The tacos were Al Castor tacos were the perfect balance of sweet and salty. The chips and Guac were also very good. The staff was super friendly and nice.

Food and drinks were so good that I forgot to take pictures of the tacos! I had a spicy margarita & a normal one. Preferred the normal one but they were both good. I asked the waitress and she recommended the taco al pastor & fish Baja. They were both so delicious. I also got a carne asada taco. The people who I was with got the carnitas. All and all, very good, quick, and tasty.

Needed to get a quick bite that was saucy, juicy, and can fill the belly in a hurry. This place really nailed it. Ordered Gallo Quesadilla (2x) and it was the right amount of spice, chewy bite, and rightly cooked chicken to hit the spot. The deduction is mainly for pricing ( it can be a bit pricy, to be a consistent spot to go to, definitely a worthy treat to go from time to time), but it earns the solid quality rating for those that work around here and visitors looking for a quick decent bite to get them to the next stop. I will definitely keep this place in mind, for a decent meal to go, on the way back from work! ;)

Absolutely delicious! Just wow I'm in love. I'm a hispanic but from another state and I got homesick for the flavors of my home and this did not disappoint. The staff are lovely. And the flavors, on point. Will strongly recommend

Came here with my fiancé and it was delicious! We purchased a taco package with our Empire State Building tour and it was totally worth it! The vibe is fun, it’s basically fine Mexican cuisine in a 1950’s diner. The waitstaff was very friendly and helpful.

Really lovely Mexican food at reasonable price. Would definitely eat here again. In a prime location under the empire state building.

I went for dinner and was able to eat without reservation. The restaurant vibe is very nice and quiet and the staff was friendly! In terms of services, it's SUPER quick, in fact, we probably waited for 10/15 min for our food to arrive on our table. The taste was very delicious, and probably as a person that came here from the UK on holiday, this was one of the best Mexican food that I have ever tried.

  • 5/5 H. R. 2 years ago on Google
Great tacos. Would definitely come back at our next NYC trip. We tried a couple of margaritas, they’re quite good too.

  • 5/5 Olivia S. S. 1 year ago on Google
Delicious drinks! The spicy margarita is a must try, and the blond margarita (with watermelon juice) is dangerous! The vegetarian tacos were really nice, and the fried cod and carnitas taco was good. I personally found the chicken taco to be a bit dry, and kept wanting the tortillas to be fried or warmed up somehow. Service and ambiance was amazing though.

  • 4/5 Travelicious_d 1 year ago on Google
Came here for lunch one day and another day for dinner. My first visit was not the best but I attribute it to a one off lunch rush thing as my second visit for dinner was amazing. The service was great and my food was delicious. I wasn't a fan of the fish taco so didn't give that a second try after my first visit. However, the chicken tacos were amazing and the side of rice and beans were delicious too.
