Speakeasy vibe with plenty of seatings. The seatings are arranged in private groups along the venue. The bar is located in the heart of the physical space. Friendly staff and excellent service. Would advice the manager(s) to work on the music though

Was #26 Best North American bar in 2022. Atmosphere 8/10 Very dark but classy Ambiente inside. A bit too dark for my taste. To the point that it’s difficult to take decent pictures. So def not very “instagrammable” spot if that’s what you look for. There is a cool extra room with a 1920’s theme in the back Drinks 7/10 To my surprise, the drinks on the menu didn’t look appealing. No vodka based drinks. But you can order a custom drink by describing your preference. Our cocktails were great. However - I wouldn’t know how to recommend or reorder Service 10/10 I love the concept that there is a service button, which you push when you need help. Otherwise, nobody will bother you Price 5/10 Drinks are ok-priced around ~$20-24

I celebrated my 60th birthday with my best friends, youngest neohew, & wife who took me there after my dinner party. We had drinks 🍸 no food.

It's a charming cocktail bar with a delightful ambiance. I opted to sit at the bar, but there are also cozy tables available. The dimmed lighting creates a classy and dreamy atmosphere, reminiscent of the iconic scenes in Mad Men. While the cocktails are on the pricier side, averaging around $19, the premium price is justified by the exceptional ambiance. It's an ideal spot for romantic date nights, as the absence of loud music allows for intimate conversations without the need to raise your voice. Overall, it was a fantastic experience, and I'm looking forward to visiting again in the future.

Very cozy and romantic cocktail bar with delicious drinks, discreet yet friendly staff, and a cozy, intimate setup. Ideal for a date. It's also perfectly located next to many delicious restaurants to make it a full evening.

Gorgeous space and friendly, professional staff. The host was perfect and our server was attentive and very accommodating! Didn’t manage to catch her name but one of her fav cocktails is the Whiskey Business (a must-try). Speakeasies rarely hit the mark on both ambiance and service but this one is 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. Thank you making our birthday evening so memorable!

Cozy bar with solid cocktails and good food. There are lots of tables for small groups that are intimate and cozy and then a decent size bar. Cocktails were great, the menu has a lot of interesting concoctions but they bartenders also served the classics. They also have a small food menu- the sliders hit the spot after an afternoon turned evening of lots of drinking! On a Friday night it appeared fairly easy to walk in with a small group, but if more than 2-3 it looked like you needed a reservation.

  • 5/5 Allison M. 1 year ago on Google
Very well balanced cocktails with an extensive menu. No matter your preference in beverage, they have knowledgeable bartenders and waiters to help you find the perfect concoction. Would strongly recommend having advanced reservations but they are able to accommodate walk ups if you are willing to wait a bit.

This is a decent place to grab a cocktail. Similar to Raines Law Room, there is a button on the wall near your table that you can switch on to summon a server. Overall I thought the drinks were okay. Nothing particularly special, and the classic cocktails that my wife and I ordered were so-so. Another thing that kind of bothered me was that the chairs we were seated in were pretty far apart so it was difficult to have a conversation. I could tell other couples were having the same problem as one pair next to us asked to be re-seated, and another decided to sit next to each other on the booth side. If you’re nearby and you want a speakeasy style experience, this is merely acceptable. If you’re anywhere else I’d say find somewhere better. Not entirely impressed with this one.

Make sure to get a reservation if you want to see the back room! We were lucky enough to even do a walk-in. The drinks are delicious and entertaining to look at. There are dividers, giving you enough privacy! I'd definitely visit again.

Dear Irving, I love you. The bar is a love affair. Beautiful in all the areas. Can never go wrong with Gibson or vice versa. The time limit is a bit annoying tho. Been here countless times and will be here countless more.

It was nice, the atmosphere is more casual + sophisticated. I had a few cocktails and everything tasted nice (as I expected based on the menu description). The vibes were very dim light and chill. Cocktails were Manhattan priced but well crafted imo. Although I've been to places with similar and cheaper cocktails in the area. Overall I liked the drinks and vibe so I'll come again/ recommend to others looking for a chill night with good cocktails.

Such a lovely experience! A classy and luxurious cocktail bar that hits all the right vibes. Think dimmed lighting, mod decor in the front and gets more victorian as you progress. Velvet upholstery, dark wooden floors, easy listening pop/smooth music, and overall fancy. I ordered the Marie Antoinette which was delicious, not too sweet, and a hint of cocoa which tones down the fruitiness. The second round I got the Coast Call which was also a tad sweeter and with more of a fruity taste to it. My friend liked her 1st round which is the white drink- it tasted like a fancy pina colada and her 2nd round she ordered the poppy collins I believe, but did not enjoy it as much as she said it was too strong. Overall amazing vibes, stellar service with buttons to call the waiters to your table (vintage!) and would definitely recommend for a date night.

Lavish yet comfortable and inviting decor, perfect music and ambiance, phenomenal service (Rene and Robin you are masters of your craft and wonderful hosts, thanks for taking care of me so well), and of course delicious drinks. I discovered my most favorite drink there yesterday, ask for Business with Pleasure (add strawberries), it's divine perfection.

Great cocktail bar with a speakeasy theme! Most of the seating area is lux couches and comfy chairs for groups around tables. The mood in the place is on point and the drinks match perfectly. The cocktail list is pretty extensive but the bartenders are also more than happy to custom blend one to your liking.

Visited this gem yet another time, and like all other times just loved it. Our server Lucas and the bar tender were both amazing and very willing to suggest/customize drinks to our liking. The host and hostess were both super polite receiving everyone with big smiles! Highly recommended!

Great cocktails in a very unique and old school setting. I had the Treasure Fleet and my wife the Getaway Car. Excellent. Pricey but well worth it.

Solid spot with a nice vibe, cocktails are decent. Cool spot, nice atmosphere & good service. The cocktails were OK but not excellent. Might come back and give it another try if I’m in the neighbourhood. Bonus points for it not being too loud, definitely able to carry a conversation without resorting to yelling at your pals.

  • 4/5 Sean S. 4 years ago on Google
Very cool ambiance. Perfect for having a conversation in a relaxed, sophisticated environment. Service was noticeably slow, and it took quite a while for our server to come see us after we sat down, despite requesting service. Prices are high, but standard and expected given the speakeasy vibe and location. Had the service been a bit more attentive I would have given 5 stars.

  • 5/5 William M. 2 years ago on Google
The cocktails 🍸 were well made, both flavorful and potent, with a good balance of ingredients and flavors. The environment is sophisticated chill, service is not overly aggressive. It was a hot day, and my water never went unfilled. Whats kind of cool is the little buttons you ring for service, which seems to contribute both to the efficiency and the atmosphere of the place. Met a friend after work here, and we could hear each other talk. Definitely give this place a visit if you are looking for a mellow atmosphere.

It was good - the Gibson was excellent - but idk if this place lives up to all the hype. There are lots of pretty cocktail bars in the city; this one didn't strike me as extraordinary but maybe I'll give it another shot.

A cozy upscale atmosphere with romantic lighting and velvet accents. Cocktails are delicious - there’s something for everyone. The bites are decent. Service timing is a little long but it’s a great place to be where you can enjoy, aka hear, your date, catch up with some friends, and/or spill all your secrets to the bartender.

This is a great place to grab insanely good cocktails and small plates to share with a group. I definitely recommend this checking this place out. The vibe is cool and makes you feel like you’re in a speakeasy. You must also try the smoked salmon cream cheese dip it was sooo good!

Loved it. We are a Hollywood Smile Photo Booth rentals and spent a beautiful evening at the wedding party last night at this place. They have a very cozy, New York atmosphere with a delicious food and very kind stuff. Manager Cathleen was super helpful and professional as well as Inna, the hostess. Photo Booth was a fun addition to the party as it always is.

LOVE THIS SPOT! I hadn’t heard much about this place before going but I would definitely recommend checking it out. Tip: make a reservation ahead of time to get a great spot at a table. We sat at the bar and also enjoyed watching the bartenders craft the cocktails. Great array of spirits present on the cocktail list and bartenders do a great job of providing their own recommendations. Will definitely return!

Do yourself a favor and skip the many unfounded negative reviews, this is one of the single best cocktail bars I have ever been to. Dear Irving has a speakeasy vibe to it, a funky, dimly lit interior that feels exactly how you want it to. If you can, do yourself a favor and sit at the bar. Watch the bartenders work. Marvel at their brilliance. If it's not too busy, talk with them. Ask questions. They are happy to oblige and will likely educate you and let you try some new concoctions. For us, despite the fact that our slippery glasses caused a spill or two, they couldn't have been friendlier on a busy holiday weekend, replacing our mishaps and offering suggestions for our next drinks. The food is solid for snacking, but you're here for the drinks. The Deacon Blues was so good we actually came later in the night to have it again, as were the Xantolo and Whiskey Business. If you're lucky enough to try it, it doesn't get much better than Dear Irving. And, uh, sorry for the spills!

Cool setting and vibes and an extensive cocktail menu. I really loved the rum and papaya drink, was well balanced and was quite a big portion. Got in with 5 people with no wait at around 5:30 on a Wednesday.

A very modern Dear Irving Gramercy with interesting drinks and great atmosphere. Both the drinks I tried (wish I could remember their names - should tell you something about my night) were super creative and well-made. And this is the first time I've seen a basket of eggs at a bar, so that was totally weird. Will definitely be back.

Nice environment, good cocktails, definitely expensive. Even on a Monday night this place had some life to it! The service was great. I loved that this place has a variety of seating. Without a doubt, it is really expensive. I would definitely come back if budget wasn't a concern.

Had a beautiful 30th birthday celebration here. Cozy and intimate atmosphere, expertly crafted cocktails and tasty small plates (smoked salmon dip was delicious). Great service too. Seems like a good date place. Just be willing to pay.

Great bar. Had the opportunity to finally visit on Sunday when it wasn’t to busy. The drinks are great. The food menu looked decent as well. The only negative thing to say is the service was a little slow. The waiter did make great recommendations though.

  • 5/5 Alyssa K. 4 years ago on Google
The service was FANTASTIC; kind, attentive and efficient. The cocktail was pricey, but the atmosphere and service plus the fact that it was an actual cocktail that wasn't juiced down with mixers. Just delicious and strong.

Silly/extravagant decor, but a really fun place to go with a date or friends. The drinks are good, the volume level is low enough that you can have conversations, but the atmosphere is lively enough that it doesn't feel dead. For me, it's the perfect place to get one after drink cocktail with a friend/friends in a civilized environment.

Dear Irving is a great place to grab fruity/juicy cocktails on a date or with a group of friends. They offer some small bites. The back room is really cute. Consider making reservations or risk waiting. It is conveniently located close to union square. Note that cocktails here are on the pricey end but they are very delicious.

Came here last night as a +1 for a holiday party. I’ve been meaning to check out this place for a while now, so I was excited to be here. The space is pretty luxe and vibey, and the cocktails are decent. The bartenders, however, make for a sour experience. Having worked in the service industry, I generally hate making special requests to a slammed bar, but since I’m restricting sugar in my diet (blah blah blah no one’s business but mine), I asked my bartender if she could make my drink without the syrup listed in its ingredients. I was prepared to ask for a straight whiskey if she couldn’t do it, but she was insistent on the syrup. (“It’s only a teaspoon”; “it won’t be the same drink”; “you won’t get that apple flavor”). Just unnecessary over-explaining and grating attitude, as if I couldn’t read what was in the ingredients and understand what I was requesting in the first place. I said what I said 🙄 and I didn’t want to have to explain my personal dietary restrictions/choices to a complete stranger in order to get a drink.
