Not
a
huge
fan
of
writing
negative
reviews,
but
I
really
think
that
it’s
important
for
people
driving
in
hours
from
out
of
town
to
know
what
they
are
getting
and
not
be
blindsided
the
way
we
were!
My
apologies
in
advance
for
the
length
of
this
review
as
well.
Also,
the
wine
tour
and
restaurant
are
listed
as
one
listing
on
google
maps.
The
restaurant
was
a
1/5
and
the
wine
tour
was
4/5.
However,
in
order
for
this
to
be
honest
the
overall
is
still
1/5
overall
as
I
cannot
rate
the
restaurant
lower
than
1/5.
I
typically
get
excited
when
I
see
a
smaller
menu
(1
page)
as
I
know
that
these
are
the
best
this
chef
has
to
offer.
This
was
not
the
case
tonight!
Let’s
start
with
the
Trius
Kitchen
Snacks
(included
with
the
2
or
3
course
meal
which
we
did).
The
chilled
tomato
soup
with
Greek
yoghurt
was
nothing
special
and
didn’t
really
match
anything
else
on
the
menu.
The
Salmon
rillettes
had
a
cool
form
factor
and
nice
crunch
from
the
shell.
The
flavour
was
lacking
however.
On
to
the
appetizers.
Ironically
enough,
they
warned
my
wife
that
the
duck
was
the
first
day
on
the
menu
(not
even
on
their
online
menu),
and
it
was
the
only
thing
that
potentially
should
have
been
there.
It
had
unique
flavours
that
seemed
like
they
could
work
together.
It
nicely
balanced
sweet
and
savoury.
My
dish
was
the
FISHERVILLE
TOMATO
CARPACCIO.
The
tomatoes
had
an
almost
Buffalo
sauce
applied
to
them
which
was
odd.
The
cheese,
prosciutto
and
tomatoes
normally
should
go
well
together
but
flavours
were
lacking.
The
chef
tried
to
bring
them
in
with
a
balsamic
gel
but
the
flavour
profile
didn’t
complement
the
ingredients
being
used.
A
simple
balsamic
reduction
would
have
been
better
at
this
point
(don’t
reinvent
the
wheel
just
for
the
sake
of
reinventing
the
wheel)
On
to
the
mains.
My
wife
got
the
PASTRAMI
SPICED
ONTARIO
BEEF
STRIPLOIN
which
was
beautifully
plated
and
served
a
proper
cooked
medium
rare.
Unfortunately,
the
cut
was
tough
and
chewy.
I
got
the
BACON
WRAPPED
ONTARIO
CORNISH
HEN.
Again,
plated
beautifully,
however,
it
was
stuffed
with
what
tasted
like
sausage
which
normally
I
wouldn’t
mind
except
the
spicing
of
the
sausage
didn’t
match
the
rest
of
the
dish.
The
rapini
was
nice,
and
the
gnocchi,
while
oversized,
had
decent
texture.
The
rest
of
the
dish
was
a
hodgepodge
of
flavours
and
sauces
that
had
no
business
being
on
the
same
plate.
The
smoked
apple
purée
and
mustard
dressing
didn’t
suit
the
dish
and
overpowered
the
flavours
of
the
meat
and
veggies
in
a
very
bad
way.
For
dessert….we
actually
cancelled
the
rest
of
our
tasting
and
went
to
town
to
get
some
more
palatable
food.
This
has
never
ever
happened
to
us
before
as
we
truly
enjoy
culinary
experience
good
or
bad.
This
was
terrible
on
so
many
levels.
From
service
being
slow
despite
the
restaurant
being
empty,
and
not
even
asking
how
the
food
is,
to
the
poor
wine
parings,
there
is
almost
no
redeeming
qualities.
We
booked
through
the
Open
Table
App
and
there
was
only
one
time
spot
available
(usually
a
good
sign).
Combine
that
with
a
4.4
rating
on
google
and
we
figured
it
was
worth
a
try,
especially
since
we
did
the
wine
tasting
tour
there
earlier
that
day
and
it
was
a
good
time
with
some
nice
social
media
inspired
backdrops.
Now
it
all
makes
sense
why
this
large,
nicely
decorated
restaurant
was
empty!
The
chef
has
mastered
designing
good
looking
plates,
but
everything
else
was
a
train
wreck.
You
shouldn’t
be
craving
McDonald’s
to
cleanse
the
palette
after
a
$250
meal.
We
even
walked
away
with
full
glasses
of
wine,
something
that
shouldn’t
be
possible
at
a
winery
of
all
places!!!
The
wine
was
not
opened
in
front
of
us,
but
it
tasted
old,
like
it
was
opened
many
meals
ago.
All
in
all,
this
was
a
truly
disappointing,
dissatisfying
and
utter
waste
of
money.
It’s
a
shame
as
the
wine
tour
was
fun
and
playful.
Would
not
recommend
with
the
current
menu.
