This is the first place you see immediately after the roundabout, and is the most modern-styled place. The place is sophisticated in and out with history of the famous Wayne Gretzky. Unfortunately, all the staff, except for the servers, are NOT at all friendly, the utensils were really dirty, and the cheese board was meh. I would recommend visiting here just once for the sake of it, but it’s definitely not a place to return.

Nice to visit this location given that it is bears the name of the world famous hockey player Wayne Gretzky and family. I felt that the atmosphere catered to younger people. Lots of areas and pockets where different groups can congregate. The wine selection isn't my favourite but the winery itself is worth visiting.

Recently, I had the pleasure of being part of a whisky-tasting experience at Wayne Gretzky Estates for my Visage group of 15 members. It was hosted and organized by Sanderson Wealth Management. The setting was magnificent, nestled in the heart of Niagara-on-the-Lake, known for its picturesque vineyards and wineries. Upon our arrival, we were greeted by the warm and welcoming staff who led us to The Whisky Loft, an exclusive private tasting area offering a spectacular view of the distillery’s workspace. The room's ambiance, with its intimate and cozy setting, was perfect for our group. Our tasting session was led by a knowledgeable sommelier who introduced us to a range of Wayne Gretzky Estates’ finest whiskies. Each whisky was unique, showcasing different flavors and complexities. The sommelier’s passion and expertise truly enhanced our experience, as they explained the distillation process, the history behind each spirit, and the best ways to appreciate their distinct notes and aromas. As we sipped and savored the various whiskies, we couldn't help but be captivated by the breathtaking views of the estate. The serene landscape of vineyards and the distant Niagara Escarpment provided a perfect backdrop for our tasting adventure. After the tasting, we headed to Trius Winery, conveniently located next door. Here, we enjoyed an amazing dinner that beautifully complemented our whisky experience. The food at Trius was exceptional, each dish carefully crafted to pair with the region's exquisite wines. The dinner was not only a gastronomic delight but also a great way to unwind and reflect on our delightful whisky tasting experience. This event was a memorable journey through the world of fine whiskies and exquisite cuisine, set against the backdrop of one of Canada's most beautiful wine regions. It was an experience that all of us in the Visage group cherished and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and sophisticated outing. Visited Saturday, January 6, 2024 Very grateful to family who invited us to be their guests at Wayne Gretzky Estates. We had a tremendous tasting experience (complimentary for wine club members and guests) trying, among our group, wines, whiskeys, and all four of the cream liqueurs. The Maple Cask and Ice Cask whiskeys were both outstanding. All four of the cream liqueurs were very good, but we had no consensus on which was best - my partner was impressed by the Salted Caramel, her sister voted Butter Pecan and I liked them all (Maple might get a slight edge). Growing up in the '70s and '80s as a hockey fan, it was so much fun and nostalgia to see so much memorabilia all over the winery spaces. The outdoor skating rink is a perfect natural fit for Wayne Gretzky Estates and was being well used. For a winter weekend, it was quite busy with an upbeat, almost boisterous vibe. I'm hoping for a return trip soon and again in warmer months to the expansive outdoor areas.

I wanted to like Wayne Gretzky however, it did not meet my expectations. This was our first winery of the week and there was eight of us, there was only one server. No one came to help or assist her which I felt bad. The food was also mediocre. I didn’t think that the food was even great. The salad was just your typical salad. The salmon was dry and it wasn’t hot. It was room temperature and you could tell that it’s been sitting on the counter just waiting to be served. I appreciated the effort to grabbing me an extra dessert. The location is great. The glassroom is beautiful however, I wish that someone could’ve helped and join forces to make the experience more timely and pleasant. There was no pairing or suggestions we were asked to pick our white wine to be chilled instead of giving a suggestion based on our food. Just overall food was mediocre. And service was amazing just more team members assisting one person.

Please remember to make a reservation ahead of time! It was a wonderful experience coming to the Wayne Gretzky Estates during the Christmas season. Beautiful spot at the Niagara-on-the-lake. Although we were only driven by and made a quick stop, we wanted to do the tour, however, the line was too long and much planning ahead is definitely need! Stylish hall and lots of spot for different product tasting was spotted around the estate. They even have a ice rink right out back center. Where the adults may sat around while children in the ice tank skating; Everyone get to have a great time! It is a must visit spot and great for half to a day worth of your time here!

Visited here on a beautiful Saturday with the family. Lovely outdoor space, tons of activities for the kids to let them run around. For a Niagara winery, the ambiance is top notch. The wine itself was average for the area. The Riesling was thin with a bitter sweetness. The rose left a lot to be desired. The cab franc ice wine was probably their best, but don't let that discourage you from visiting. 4/5 would definitely be back once I've made my way through the rest of the region

I did not like dining here but our server was very friendly and helpful. Maybe we should've come for the drinks instead. The poutine came on the wrong plate. The wrap was fine but it had an oddly strong fishy taste and felt dense and wet. The chicken waffle sandwich was not tasty.. zero cohesiveness of the ingredients. I was displeased with every element in the sandwich. Got onion rings instead and they were fine. Would not come again for the food.

Venturing into Wayne Gretzky Estates was an unexpected delight, especially for someone who doesn't consider themselves a wine aficionado. 🍇 I was graciously invited by friends, marking my first-ever visit to a winery, and what a charming afternoon it turned out to be! 😊 The location at 1219 Niagara Stone Rd, Niagara-on-the-Lake, ON L0S 1J0, is nothing short of spectacular. The grounds are a testament to the beauty that surrounds the winery, creating an ambiance that effortlessly blends tranquility with a touch of sophistication. Although not initially a wine enthusiast, I found the experience to be surprisingly enjoyable. The atmosphere and surroundings at Wayne Gretzky Estates made the visit not just about wine but about the overall experience. It was a fun-filled afternoon, and I'm genuinely grateful for having attended. What struck me most was the versatility of the winery—it caters to both seasoned wine enthusiasts and those, like myself, who are new to the world of wines. The ambiance and the sheer beauty of the grounds create an environment that transcends preferences, making it an inviting space for everyone. This visit has opened my eyes to the possibility of exploring new interests, and I'm glad I embraced the opportunity. Wayne Gretzky Estates is not just a winery; it's a haven for those seeking a delightful experience, whether or not wine is your usual beverage of choice. 😊🍷

This is a great place to stop, shop and eat when visiting Niagara region in Ontario Canada. Beautiful place with lots of history about the life of Wayne Gretzky the famous hockey player with number 99. We tasted the wine 🍷 and we love it. We bought some to take home and for gifts. Restaurants are awesome too, you can choose outdoor indoor or the basement part with huge wine barrel. We enjoyed our stop here before proceeding to Niagara on the lake.

Stopped by here as I was in the area for an hour and decided to get some sangria and beer. It was very nice and actually crowded for how chilly it was outside. There were people doing the winery tour but also a good amount of people sitting at the restaurant area either taking a drink or playing cornhole or ping-pong. The menu was fairly priced as well. Would recommend a casual visit if you're in the area.

Attended a bachelorette dinner here, the patio is pretty and has a mix of high top tables and regular. Hostess was happy to switch us to regular table/seats. The menu isn’t huge and was limited for vegan diners, I was able to get onion rings to start and the power bowl as my main. The onion rings were delicious! The power bowl was also good but I wasn’t expecting it to be cold. They offer a wide range of alcoholic drinks and cocktails, no soft drinks are available so you have to order a No spirit drink. I dined with a party of 9 and it was pretty split between who enjoyed their meals and who didn’t. For myself and my dietary needs I would likely not dine here again but certainly would enjoy some drinks!

The place itself is very, very nice and really nicely merchandised. However, the service felt a bit unwelcoming and the vibe felt kind of flat for a place of this quality. The entire visit from the time we walked in seemed disjointed and confusing to me. We bought an expensive bottle of Cabernet and hope that it's better than the experience!

The property has so much on-site! If you want to book a tour do it early, they are really busy. They do a great job with COVID protocols. They are the most visited Winery in all of North America this year. Great care has been put into producing amazing products in Wine, beer and spirits. They have two great shops to purchase their products. If you're in the area, it's a must stop.

We showed up and everyone was having a good time the DJ was rocking 30 people or so were all dancing . When the security guard came and told everyone to stop dancing .We tried to explain that the website read dancing was encouraged but he said that there was too many people that only 50 was allowed because of covid. There was 2 groups so there wasn’t more then 50 in the same spot so he had the DJ play slow music so people would stop dancing. So eventually everyone left to go elsewhere for a good time

Wine and a tribute to Wayner, what’s not to like. Every time I go the place is busier, with the property really built out to include beer gardens, restaurant, multiple tasting bars and a couple of stores. Love the venture into beer and whiskey to pair with the wine. Love the Baco Noir!

We came to Wayne Gretzky Estate for our anniversary. We had such a fantastic time. We did the seated tasting. We couldn't be happier. You have the choice of tasting 4 different drinks of your choice. Everyone is knowledgeable of the drinks if you have any questions. The food is spectacular and view is just amazing. We will be back soon.

Food is amazing here, it could be fun and relaxing. My hamburger was so juicy. Service is always friendly. Go for the cocktails, those are the chef specialties. Not reservations needed on Saturdays. Always make sure to find out if you need one, cause it gets extremely busy. Go early to enjoy the views of the vineyards. You can go and visit Trius and Wayne Gretzky vineyards at the same time. If you are visiting take a tour it’s a must. And have lunch at the Whisky Bar Patio, you’ll enjoy it.

Great selection of Wine, Ice Wine, Whiskey Creams, Whiskeys ( try the new Double Oak ) & the New VSOP Brandy ! Beautiful grounds, friendly staff & delicious foods are some of the ingredients here to guarantee a good time. Keep it up !

One of the most active wineries we have visited. Busy but well organized. Whiskey, wine, beer and food were all excellent. Activities such as Corn hole, table-tennis and billiards are available to help smooth out the potential alcoholic buzz🥴🤣

Enjoyed the winery, very relaxed feel with the lawn games and outdoor eating. We had some lunch at the patio and enjoyed the meals, although the burger was listed as “medium” for doneness and was actually charred and very overdone. Iced tea with honey and lavender syrup was delicious and non conventional, and the syrup was available to buy in the distillery shop. The tasting room was enjoyable and we left with some very reasonably priced bottles with the tasting fee discounted which was amazing!

We did the Wine, Beer and Whiskey tour. It was awesome, but a little fast paced for me. Compared to the smaller wineries in the area, you can definitely tell they need to stick to a schedule. Our guide was kind enough to give me an extra sample of the salted caramel cream whiskey which is a must-try!

  • 5/5 Eric Z. 2 years ago on Google
The tasting is great. Love that they let you mix and match between their wine, beer, and liquor options. The charcuterie board spread was good, especially the whiskey cheese!! 100 percent recommend trying the maple whiskey. If you're visiting during the winter, don't forget to bring a pair of skates.

The tasting tour involves beer, wine, whiskey, and ice wine. I went between seasons so the ice rink was gone and the pond wasn’t up and running yet. The whiskey bar you could get food at and was outside. It smelled delicious. The beer garden looks like it would be a fun time in the summer. They could use more washrooms, a womens line formed very quickly. I believe their is an indoor restaurant too. We went just for the drinks. Completely different vibe than other wineries and definitely worth checking out.

  • 4/5 Michelle R. 2 years ago on Google
Nice winery with lots of options. You could check out the whiskey or winery inside or head to the back where there were more option of a beer tent, bar and small food truck that wasn't open at time of our visit. There was lots of outdoor seating. The wine tasting inside was situated in a cozy, inviting setup. They off tasting of wine, whiskey and beer combo or just choose what you want. They offered wines only available at estate. It was a very nice experience and would recommend. I will definitely visit them again.

We were surprised how disorganized it was but over all good experience. We walked in to the main building, stood in line and both women at the counter left the desk. Another women came by, we politely asked "excuse me" she was frustrated and said "can't you see I have a noise bleed!", and no, sorry, we did not, since you had your mask on. So since the front desk chose to walk away from use or not help use, we didn't want to be late for our tour so we tried to follow the signs. Once we found were we were going, we were 10 mins early and no one was there. We then checked our watches and it was the time that our tour should being and no one was there. We approached the hostess stand and asked where to go she mentioned that the tour guid was running late. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, and made the tour super fun. After the first tour we went to the gift shop, it was a bit smaller then I expected and a lot of people pushing and shoving. When it was time to leave, we saw an EXIT ONLY sign, and figured because of COVID still being around that we had to exit through that way, turns out it was one of the private tour restaurants, we had a lot of people looking at use like we shouldn't be their lol, oh well. On to the next tour, we again try to approach the front desk, they seemed to be a lot more calm, I guess because it dead down, and were able to point use in the direction we were suppose to go for our next 2 tours. My advice, if you have a tour, go to the desk in the main building, get their early so that you have enough time to ask questions and wait for who ever can help you, if you're going just to the restaurant, its outside, near the ice rink. Good food, good drinks and would go again.

If you follow the "Great One" it is a place to visit. Clean and modern. Excellent customer service at restaurant. Good food (a salmon wrap with fries) and pleasant views. A lot merchandise. Visited on Friday on lunch hour, it was only one person handling the whiskey samples bar. Good whiskey.

Probably my favourite winery in the Niagara region, and not just for the hockey nostalgia! A wide variety of drinks, including wine, whiskey, and now vodka. The cream whiskey is a go to for me, even in the summer. Lots of good food options too, and even gluten free options. When I ordered a charcuterie board, they gave me gluten free crackers; there's gluten free buns for burgers. Lots to choose from (which doesn't happen often). Love coming here with my friends.

I came here for a bachelor weekend, and the experience was fantastic! We booked a whiskey tour and we also booked a whiskey bartender tour. The whiskey tour was great as we were able to see how they make whiskey and we learn how to properly taste whiskey the worker was great but I unfortunately forgot her name (all I remember was that she was voted life of the party in high school yearbook). The whiskey bartender was . We learn how to make three drinks using various ingredients and methods. Both of these tours were fantastic way to start the day, and I highly recommend them both!

Wayne Gretzky No. 99 Canadian Whiskey is a truly remarkable spirit that pays tribute to the legendary ice hockey player. The whiskey boasts a smooth and refined flavor profile that is sure to delight both whiskey enthusiasts and Gretzky fans alike. Its rich and velvety texture combined with notes of caramel, vanilla, and oak create a truly enjoyable sipping experience. Whether you're a hockey fan or simply appreciate a well-crafted whiskey, Wayne Gretzky No. 99 is a worthy addition to your collection.

The tour - was fun seeing some equipment at the location and hearing about the processes and reasoning behind things that are used. The drinks during the trip were nice too. The tour guide did a great job with fielding questions and mentioned the vodka a few times and talked the things that made it different from typical vodkas, but when we had it during our tasting it was pretty typical of vodka if you ask me. The tasting - sampled 4 drinks (5 if it's your birthday and another bonus one since they were introducing a new sparkling wine). Enjoyed everything but the vodka as it was pretty typical as I mentioned earlier, but it was a great time with some solid munchies!

Had a really time at our visit to Gretzky Estates. We had a wine tasting with nachos pairing. Also tried a flight of their whiskey. The cream liquor was really good, especially the butter pecan flavour. Lots to do and try here. There's a beer garden outside next to the skating rink. There's all kinds of wine and whiskey to try too. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. I'd definitely recommend stopping here if you're on a wine tour.

Anytime we go down south, we make a special point to visit this location. It's such a great atmosphere with food, music, drinks and of course wine tours. Who doesn't like any of those? The entire area is so well laid out that it makes you want to spend hours here. There is often live music to make that visit just that much more enjoyable. The food is a limited selection of items, however, they change them all the time to make it interesting. It's the same with their bar menu, always some cool signature drinks to try. The store is very well stocked with a great selection of Gretzky products. You'll find a wide selection of alcoholic "Gretzky" branded products but there are several other offerings like gifts, trinkets and just all around fun items. Prices are about the same as anywhere else though so don't expect deep discounts. The location is easy to get to, well marked and offers plenty of free parking. They typically suggest you book ahead for wine tours but they often have room for those last minute trips. If you're looking to spend a few hours relaxing and having a few drinks, this is a great place to do.

We really enjoyed the ambiance, being huge hockey fans. We all ordered a flight with some charcuterie, and it was all pretty good. The only problem - there were fruit flies flying all around our food! Like, so many of them. We had to cover the food to keep them out. And we were eating inside. Kind of turned us off to the food and drink we were trying to enjoy. Like others have said, the servers don't seem exactly thrilled about being at work. We did end up buying multiple bottles to take home.

Wow, way to get commercialized and go down hill. Years ago when they were at a smaller location, they tried quite hard at providing good, knowledgable and friendly service. I finally made it to the new location and was going to buy $100+ bottle of iced wine and got the rudesr service from a man working the store. He should be fired. He's got 0 customer service skills. Never ever ever coming back here.

We booked a 25-minute tasting for $10 online the night before our booking. We showed up for our time slot and waited in line for a short time until the brought us inside to our seats. First thing I noticed about Wayne Gretzky Estates is how crowded it was. It's a very busy establishment so again, we knew this would be in impersonal experience. When we were seated we were given some water and looked through the tasting list. I personally didn't like that we couldn't try any higher end wines, as I've tried a few of the listed ones already through the LCBO. I'm not a beer or whisky drinker, but my husband tasted some of those. Our server was pleasant, however unknowledgeable about the wines/beer/whisky. We did purchase 2 bottles of wine from the shop and a got a cookbook. We had to ask for the rebate at the cash, it wasn't offered to us so be mindful of that. Overall, you definitely get what you paid for. A commercial $10 experience.

Wonderful staff! Nice facilities, really really good cider!!! HOWEVER.....the food was just awful! Gretzky would be mortified! Dried out chicken burger and Rico's that just fell apart as soon as you picked the thing up. So disappointed because we had planned to stop and eat there for a long time. Paid alot on money for nothing:(

We stopped here because it is the local tourist trap. We did a wine tasting. The wines are just OK but the Whiskey Cream was fantastic. It does have #99 name on it and he is part owner. Put the place is operated by Pelham Estate Winery. We did buy a bottle of Whiskey Cream.

Unfortunately, didn’t have a great time at this winery last weekend. Went to check out their outdoor patio (whiskey bar). The customer service wasn’t attentive in a timely manner. We ordered fried onion rings & poutine as we just wanted to get some grub with drinks... the poutine wasn’t the greatest. The cheese curds felt like plastic texture cuz it wasn’t melted! And all the gravy was at the bottom of the container. Being the famous winery, please upgrade the quality of your food.

Great venue! Friendly & helpful staff, nice patio (whiskey bar and beer gardens) and of course some pretty good wines too! Would highly recommend a stop if visiting Niagara on the Lake!

We visit the winery on Saturday Feb 22, 2020 and loved it. I thought it was extremely well done. All the pictures were great and the atmosphere was so cozy. We had a tour with Janet and she was fabulous. She was very knowledgeable and was really fun. We will definitely be returning, hopefully in the summer.

Great winery, wine bar, patio. Food was nice, staff were well trained, a bit of a slow service but we ought to keep in mind that this not Toronto and it is the country side - ie more relaxed, and chilled environment. I took one star out because of the patio music. It was way too loud more suitable for a club and the choice of music for such a classy, well built establishment such as this one was mismatched. Some loungy or Jazzy music would have done the job with far greater success. We could not even hear the sound of the jets Of the water feature which we were sitting right next to which I am sure had a design purpose (I assume was to create an effect of serenity and calmness). The 2nd star was taken away because out of the 2 available bathroom one was out of service while the bathroom door still opened and you could see the clogged toilet full of paper and the second one was as dirty as it could be. I love Gretzky as he certainly is one of my heroes and a great business man. And he did design a built a great looking establishment and that is why I did bother writing this review in the hope of helping management improve its services. We will be back in a while in the hope of seeing a difference. Other than that the drinks were amazing.

Wonderful experience, the server provided us with wine outside of the tasting menu and it allowed us try wines which really suited our tastes. We eventually bought both our favourite wines.

This place takes it to a different level, unique compared to other wineries in the region as it accommodates all walks of life. My boyfriend and I did the wine, whiskey and beer tour and it was a $40 and 45min well spent! Thank you Ian for making it a fun experience for us and for being passionate about your craft. PS. The toy jet you gave me will be kept safe. everybody else that works there is very friendly and loves their job. Highly recommend!

Wayne Gretzky Estates is the first place I recommend to friends visiting the Niagara Region! As a member of their wine and whiskey subscription club, I get to try wine or a unique cocktail made with their spirits at home every month. They include simple syrups and other ingredients you need for the cocktails that aren’t common to have alredy at home. There’s lots to do all year round with skating in the winter and outdoor patios and tours in the summer. The seasonal cocktails are always fun to try when visiting. I highly recommend trying the Whiskey Bartender workshop. Our instructor was knowledgeable and engaging and the experience was so fun that I’ll be returning to do it again when they update the cocktails for the new season. All of the supplies we used for the workshop could be purchased in their store so we could make the cocktails at home too. Being a member of a wine club is definitely beneficial as you get discounts on tastings and tours. They’re otherwise quite expensive so if you know someone with a membership try to get them to go with you to use their discount! There’s something for everyone to enjoy here.

One of the finest wines ever had since a long time. You can literally spot the difference between a fresh wine from a “Wayne Gretzky Estates Winery” and normal wine sitting in LCBO. I had a rejuvenating experience after having a sip of it.

$22 for an absolute disgrace to pizza at The Beer Garden. At best a flatbread that was put together with no regard for taste. Ate one piece and threw the rest out. Beer was good hence the 2 star rating

In the middle of a thunderstorm, a group of 6 people including myself were told to stay outside when we had a reservation. The service was inadequate and rude. My experience i received doesn’t reflect the reviews below.

Overpriced food. Great wine. We came to the patio for a nice lunch out in Niagara. Been to Gretzkys restaurant in Toronto, thinking it would be of similar quality. We came with our kids, so for a slightly higher level meal, we thought it would be good. Honestly the food wasn't good at all, especially considering the price point. The burger at 23 bucks was overcooked and dry. The poutine and fries were way to salty. Guys, let the customer decide the salt level. The wines are excellent for Ontario wines, my wife had Pinot Grigio. (We regularly drink the Reisling, which is an Ontario specialty, along with the Baco Noir, which personally is a favourite). A real disappointment on the food though.

Good wine & service ? I could have given 5 stars if the lady cashier was not very rude when we purchased our wine. We had to asked her for a discount since we paid for the wine tasting. She seemed annoyed that we had to asked her. This happened last Sunday July 26, 2020 around past 3pm.
