We had a great vegan meal at Restaurant Alounak. While they serve non-vegan meals, we were excited about the fact that their menu consisted of a handful of vegan appetizers and a choice of 3 or 4 different main meals that are vegan. Vegan dessert is also available. Service was great and our meals were delicious!

This restaurant is a MUST if you are in Nice. The food is incredible and the service is wonderful. Such an amazing gem off the beat and path. Fantastic value as well! We had the Mezze' as an appetizer and it was so delicious I could have had another! For our main dishes we had the couscous & vegetables and the ratatouille with potatoes- both equally amazing!! It was one of the best meals we had during our entire 2 weeks in France and Italy! Will 100% go back to Nice, specifically to eat here!

Absolutely lovely! As soon as I stepped in I was greeted with a smile and calmed by the meditative music playing. The food was served in a hotplate and was full of flavour and homey. The vegan creme chocolate desert was tasty and unique. Not many restaurants serve vegan desserts like this. The waitor gave me sweets as I left. Really nice experience!

tldr; incredible food, reasonable prices, great for vegans and non vegans, and kind service. Highly recommend. I came here with a friend for their NYE dinner and it was quite possibly the best meal we could have chosen. It is always difficult to find a place that could cater to vegan and non-vegans, especially for NYE, but this fit the bill perfectly. So much incredibly yummy food (we both cleaned our plates of everything we got) and the owner was so kind. I love Mediterranean food and I was blown away by how delicious everything was here, as well as the fun, warm atmosphere and decor inside. For starters, we both got the mezze, which had hummus, eggplant caviar, some veggies, lots of seasoned flatbread (slices of pita bread I think?) and a dolma. Explosion of flavors. The owner recommended we mix the hummus and eggplant and it was so yummy. For entrees, I got the ratatouille and my friend got the tajine chicken. I’ve never had ratatouille and it was SO GOOD. Extremely filling but not in a way that made me feel sluggish or heavy. For dessert, I got the vegan chocolate crème and my friend the oriental dessert. I cannot recommend the vegan chocolate more for chocolate lovers vegan or non-vegan. He explained there are four types of chocolate in it, the base layer, another on top of darker chocolate syrup or something, and chocolate chips and chocolate puffs. SO GOOD. So rich and decadent which I was floored by as something that’s vegan. The owner also explained that all vegan vs. non vegan foods are cooked on separate stoves, prep areas, served on different dishes, which I appreciated greatly. This was our last meal in Nice, but wish we had come here earlier during our trip so we could’ve enjoyed it on even more visits!!!

This restaurant was a pleasant surprise after a long day of traveling and sightseeing. The food was simply amazing and authentic. The ambience is laid back and rustic. The staff is also very nice. It was a nice evening indeed. I would definitely recommend eating here.

This was hands down one of the best vegetarian and vegan meals we had in our trip to France. Both the ratatouille and the couscous were amazing. The service was also fast. The owner runs this restaurant as an one person shop. So please be patient with him. Definitely recommend it!

After a long day touring Old Nice and the main shopping district (Ave Jean Medecin) we just wanted a quick supper before returning to our hotel to organize and pack before our flight early the next morning. Thus we were just going to get quick take-out food or "franchise" food. But instead, we decided to walk around the block to see if anything appealed to us. Just by chance, we saw this place and the menu looked promising. All I can say is that we are lucky to have discovered this place, our "last supper" before flying home from Nice. The food was the real deal, deep authentic flavor without being too rich. It was a very nice change from the "standard fare" that one typically sees in the main tourist areas. So, if you're in the area, it is worth a visit.

Basically happiness on a plate. From the Èntree over the mains to the dessert. As a vegan I don't remember having so many options for great food. The owner is also very welcoming and a super friendly and delightful person. If I should ever visit Nice, I'll definitely dine in here again.

Lovely restaurant that serves vegan and vegetarian options. We had the vegan and lamb ratatouille as the main course, and the baklava, pastries and rice flan for dessert. The food tasted very good and authentic, a lot of food for a very reasonable price. What made the visit extra special was the wonderful customer service. The staff was so nice! Highly recommended!!

The most lovely lovely restaurant in Nice! So homey and welcoming ! The man, his name is Martin, performs all jobs, it’s a one man show. Ask him about his life as it has been fascinating and it’s inspiring to hear about his journey. The food is warm but the ambiance is warmer. Make sure to stop by if you’re in nice! PS super accomodating to vegan/vegetarian !!!!

Will be telling everyone planning their trip about this restaurant. The whole experience from the beginning to end is unforgettable. Chose this restaurant as half of my group is vegan and the other isn't, and we were quite hungry. TLDR: all the food we had was delicious (mezze, ratatouille, taijin with chicken and lamb, and creme dessert au chocolat). First, we sat down as a group of 4 in an almost empty, but an air conditioned, beautiful restaurant, where the furniture looked beautiful with Mediterranean motifs. It smelt lovely. Then we payed attention to the music - at the beginning, it resembled something you'd hear in a PS1 RPG game menu, which was very appropriate for us as we listened to it during our reading of the menu. Then the music moved onto something resembling Dark Souls music, or anything similar but just more of the sub-saharan folklore genre. Then we received our food, it was very warm, freshly prepared, and done perfectly. No complaints, only finger licking goodness. As we waited for the dessert, the owner and the chef spoke to us about Scotland and his love for the Celtic culture, and he performed some magic tricks for us! We left a tip for him, because it was surprising that the place was so empty, yet so beautiful in every detail and for every part. At the end, we hugged it out with the chef, and went on our way. You may not think of restaurants as a good way to spend your precious holiday time, but this was indeed an experience we won't be forgetting soon.
