In an area reserved for pedestrians (there is also a tram), Place Masséna is both elegant and commercial. You will find the Galeries Lafayette as well as the big chic brands. If you avoid shopping, go there to listen to the many street musicians.

Amazing Nice.... wonderful, beautiful, that's Nice...Like any Nice visit, also this time we had a great time there, the sun was shining, high temperature but in the vieux town it's cool anywhere shade and therefore you can live there within this high temperature. The Place Masséna is the place to be at Nice.

Nice’s main square. Absolutely beautiful walk down the Main Street, and the Place branches off into the old town and beach

Place Masséna is a captivating square nestled in the heart of Nice, France. With its checkerboard pattern, vibrant red facades, and impressive artwork, it offers a delightful blend of history and modernity. The square's open space is perfect for leisurely strolls or enjoying the radiant fountains. Hosting numerous events and markets, Place Masséna truly encapsulates the charm and spirit of Nice, making it a must-visit destination for locals and tourists alike.

It is not really hard to make reviews for places in and around Nice. At this moment, I hardly recall any experience I would rate less than five. However, what is really hard, is to find the words to express the excitment each of them gives you. And it doesn't really change throughout time, regardless of how many times you visit it. Place Massena is just one of many touristic places in the center of Nice. It is a wide open area of a big pedestrian square, surrounded with red-to-ping-with-golden-nuances buildings towards Jean Medecin Boulevard, and with a view toward the Mediterranean where the Fountain du Soleil is perfectly loacted. The tram Line 1 passes through Place Massena and all Jean Medecin Boulevard. Considering the heavy people traffic, the drivers are really really careful, so it is pretty safe to walk around. On both sides Place Massena is cornered with Promenade du Paillon park which goes from the Promenade des Anglais (next to the beach) to the Promenade des Arts (next to the Contemporary Arts Museum). In the morning or late at night, the area is mostly free of people and trams passes by rarely. It is a great leisure place where many festivals and events take place in Nice. It is easily accessible with anything, but I strongly recommend using tram. Tram Line 2 takes you from airport and you should drop off at Jean Medecin Stop (underground), only a three minute walking distance from Palce Massena. Or you can also walk from main Train Station, or take Line 1 of tram towards Hopital Pasteur (you drop off at Massena stop or Opera Vielle-Ville stop). Massena serves also as a gate to enter the old town (just behind the fountain), so you can be there anytime and still close to everything you would want to see in a day in Nice. Check some photos and enjoy the place yourself! You will never regret!

What a lovely and happening place. Nice, one of the most beautiful city of South France is really a place to visit and cherry on the cake 🍰 is this Place Massena. The statue with fountain full of multiple sculpture makes it more attractive whether it's day or night... A square full of Yog posed statue with VIBHYOR lit from inside. One of the attractions in the square... It's the place absolutely surrounded by multi cuisine restaurants and Patio...

Very busy place in the old town of Nice. There is always something going on in this area . It’s also close to most of the attractions in Nice and the Beach . You can get there by the tram that runs through it .

Wonderful Nice! It’s everything you might expect. This is a very nice square where you can enjoy some sweets or drinks at the restaurants, or just walk around and enjoy the views and architecture.

This place is very beautiful, especially at night when it's bright and colorful. The people here are also friendlier and not as rude as in other parts of France. It's a lovely and welcoming spot to visit. The fountain is pretty as well

A very busy cosmopolitan that offers both the old and new architectures and art sculptures that is a feast to the eyes. One can easily spend a few hours here just relaxing and people gazing. Highly recommended place to visit when in Nice!

This majestic square is the heart of Nice. It was built around 1820 and bear the name of one of Napoleon Bonaparte marshals, André Masséna. The red buildings at the northern part are typical Nice architecture with strong influence from Thurin architecture (as Thurin was the former capital of Savoy Kingdom that included Nice). We loved the quiet times here in the morning (before 10 AM) but also the vivid atmosphere at sunset!

Place Masséna is a popular gathering place for locals and tourists alike, and is often used for events and festivals, including the Nice Carnival and the Christmas market. It is also a major transportation hub, with several tramway lines and bus routes passing through the square.

Very large plaza in the heart of Nice. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby. The best way to describe the plaza is like the heart of Nice, each street sprawling off becoming a major artery for the city. Beware of traffic as it's a bit fast and loose on the roads that cross the Place Masséna. Easy access to trams from here too as there are two stops nearby.

Good view. I like the night view better than the day view. With the lights the place gets illuminated.

Awesome place (pun intended). Spent a lot of time here when I was in Nice. It separates Avenue Jean Médecin and Vieux-Nice, plus it offers the Fountain du Soleil and Arc de 115.5 Degrés. I recommend going at least twice: once early morning, and once early evening. I came at 7am on a weekday and it was a ghost town. I was able to really take in the aesthetic the square had to offer (and take some tripod selfies without anyone else in the picture!). Later, I came back around 9pm--it was a total shitshow (in the best way possible). The liveliness of Vieux-Nice poured onto Place Masséna with people all over the square eating, drinking, and taking in the street performers. I feel going at both times of the day really gives you an appreciation for everything the square has to offer. Check it out! Excitedly, Clayton Cohn

Nice is a lovely city to visit and after you have wandered this is an ideal place to take a rest. It is close to high end shops, has great architecture and cafés (a it expensive but location, location, location) to sit in the sunshine and people watch. As an added bonus you can admire and wonder at the imagination that created the male figures perched on high poles that grace the area

Astounding square with a meticulously sculpted fountain near the seaside. Many bars around with good food and drinks. Anonymous artists performing on the streets contribute to the cenario and help in creating a feeling of a movie scene during sunny day in the French Riviera

Awesome place to hang and eat dinner. Place is even more beautiful after dark with the statues lighting up. Grab an ice cream and eat it at the fountain while enjoying the place. Good restaurants around to sit out and enjoy the views.

Magnificent square with a checker board floor that adds a classy ambiance. The character statues represent the 7 continents and the communication between them. What a cool idea! Come back at night and see them light up.

If you enjoy the life's Hustle Bustle, then this is the place for you. It is the main square of the city. Restaurants, Cafes, Shopping facilities and other live engagements make this place lively. Just buy a cup of coffee in a restaurant and watch the life goes on. You will never get bored. There is a fountain in the center. There are statues that are illuminated in the evening and that makes the place more colorful and romantic.
