Be very very careful with the pick pocketer gang. Very much screwed up people. I almost lost my wallet, but realised and recovered quick in time to see a hand moving inside my jacket pocket. Huge and absolutely well maintained as per the amount of passengers it sees everyday. There are many shops, stores, bakery and restaurants all over the station. Locker rooms are available for the luggage storage. Escalators and lifts are there. Very well marked for the directions. Neat and clean platforms.

The old building looks great. Inside is easy to get the right direction to the train or metro to the city. There are also a lot of food or drink stations. The only one thing which was missing to me was not enough USB charging stations. I was there during the puck time about 15:00 and when I finally found some electricity plug it doesn't work. This is kinda picky. Anyway, thank you for all.

(Translated by Google) A big thank you to the station security team who helped prevent my daughter from being attacked. After my call to report the individual, the security of the station immediately went to the platform where my daughter was getting off and called out to the fat man. Without their efficiency and responsiveness, I don't know if this story would have ended well. Thanks again to them.

Well Serviced Railway station with plenty of shops, cafes, stores with all the essentials for travel. The metro connects immediately underneath with multiple lines from connecting stations. There are plenty of escalators and lifts to assist with mobility impaired and your heavy luggage. There is toilet facilities although you will be charged for the convenience. The entrance to the toilet is manned and you can use your credit card, smartphone or cash for payment. Because the station is so busy at times you might find it hard to find a seat unless you take an opportunity to use one of the many cafes, including Starbucks, McDonalds, or one of the many specialty cafes. There is taxis waiting out front to provide services, but be warned unauthorized cab scammers are waiting to pounce on the unexpected. As most of Paris rail there is plenty of announcements warning customers to be wary of pickpockets. There is armed military patrolling the station with plenty of French speaking security guards. There are plenty of easy to read train departure screens display your trains destination, platform, and its departure time. If traveling via EuroRail it’s a good idea to book your ticket; and seat allocation, online prior, and then activating (on the “RailPlanner” App) once you arrival at the station. You can even activate your “RailPlanner” ticket when you are seated on the train.

Fairly central and huge train Station of Paris. From Gare de l'Est station trains are heading to east of France, Germany, Luxembourg. Beautiful architecture and location. Loved the cafe's and restaurants. Had an amazing time exploring Paris. Love to visit back this historic Site.

Be sure to "validate" your ticket at the free-standing yellow printers BEFORE boarding the train. They look like big yellow hand sanitizer machines in the USA. Place the end of the ticket with the space on the end, face up. Plenty of great places to eat. Your train platform number will appear on the electronic board about 20 minutes prior to your disembarkation time. Look for train car number on left of printed ticket, and match it to electronic number on side of train car. Your seat number is on the right side of your ticket. Bathrooms are available on the train (rather than pay in station). Go first class if you can. WiFi available on train login with the 6-digit letters on right side of ticket and use last name only in "name field." I hope this information helps!

Clean, open and grand feel all adds to the positive feeling here. Not all shops were open before 7:30am but that's to be expected. Check-in was easy and staff were polite and helpful. Specific platform will be advised 20min prior to the trains departure. We came in via the main entry using the stairs, but there was a steel ramp for luggage to roll up which made it nice and easy

I actually liked the station, it has some shops inside, including my favorite, a small fnac, and it was pretty easy to navigate within the station

We came to this station from Munich on a direct train. The station was fairly small as we were already outside once we walked down the platform. The inside looked like a station but was a bit smaller. The outside was quite nice as it looked almost like a greenhouse with the windows on the front. There is also a statue on top of the station. It was a nice station with bus stops close by for transfers, although we didn't use them as there was a strike at the time.

Modernistic old world charm. This East station is ergonomically designed with lots of shops cafe etc. Well structured train platform at a single level makes boarding easy, and the metro 🚇 station is located at basement level 1 to connect to the various parts of Paris

The station is really beautiful, finding your way here is easy with plenty of directional boards showing the way. Due to recent terroristic actions, all stations have strict rules about bagage. When i took a train here, there was unattended bagage near a platform. The station was evicted and we had to wait for the calamity officers to check if there was any danger with the bagage. It was false alarm gladly. Trains got a lot of delay or got cancelled. I think its good to be better safe then sorry. So i'll say it to everyone visiting france. NEVER LEAVE YOUR BAGGAGE ALONE!

Gare de l'Est is a charming train station with a clean and elegant ambiance, offering a diverse selection of dining options, including restaurants, fast food outlets, food kiosks, and cafes. To avoid long lines at the ticket machines, I recommend to purchase your metro tickets in advance.

In my opinion, one of the best stations in Paris. There are quite the options and choices of shops especially considering it’s smaller size compared to other way bigger stations. But because of how less crowded this station is, I find it more enjoyable and more pleasant.

Although the station is huge and well maintained, I had the most distasteful experience while waiting for the station to open. We were told to reach to the station 90 mins before our train ride to Stuttgart and when we arrived at the station it was closed. Leaving us outside to deal with the slummy area in Paris. A man riding on a bike, rode pass my 5 friends and I and proceeded to spit in our direction and shout racial slurs. After which, bombs started approaching us and asking for money, making our time there unbearable. If traveling through this station, please be careful.

If I could rate this 1 trillion stars I would. I had lost my purse on the train and a worker went above and beyond helping me find it again. A++ service and the trains themselves are easy to navigate and kept clean.

The Gare de l'Est, officially Paris-Est, is one of the six large SNCF termini in Paris. It is in the 10th arrondissement, not far from the Gare du Nord, facing the Boulevard de Strasbourg, part of the north-south axis of Paris created by Baron Haussmann. It is one of the largest and the oldest railway stations in Paris, the western terminus of the Paris–Strasbourg railway and the Paris–Mulhouse railway. The Gare de l'Est was opened in 1849 by the Compagnie du Chemin de Fer de Paris à Strasbourg (the Paris-Strasbourg Railway Company) under the name "Strasbourg platform." This platform corresponds today with the hall for main-line trains, and was designed by the architect François Duquesnay. It was renamed the "Gare de l'Est" in 1854, after the expansion of service to Mulhouse.

Most of the long distance trains land here but be careful when using metro from this station to travel to other places. Do not board in to over crowded compartments and certain gangs will round you up intentionally and try to push back/forth in the sake of moving metro and will try to grab the things out of your pocket … I had similar experience and advise everyone to be careful to have a peaceful trip …

It’s a nice building and the platforms are rather easy to find. This station serves the east of France and destinations in southern Germany. If you arrive here from those places you might want to stay in Paris or use it as an interchange. If your next train is from Gare du Nord I would recommend you to just walk there as it’s pretty much just around the corner (6-8 minutes) and you don’t have to pay a metro ticket although alternatively you obviously can do so as there is a line connecting the two stations.

I have been here a couple of times during September 2022. I have never seen an underground railway/metro station like this in my entire life. It's huge huge and huge. Amazing infrastructure, very well organized, neat and clean. And it's busy like hell. You will see people around you running and walking. As a tourist, I felt like I was lost. There are signs everywhere but because of the language sometimes I found it difficult to find my path. However, it was a nice experience and I will never forget this part of my memory. This is one of the central stations of Paris. It has small shops, restaurants, ticket counters, ATM Booths and toilets.

This train station has everything you need, ranging from shops for everyday needs to food and miscellaneous stuff. The station is being kept clean and is wide and spacious enough for you to have room to breath instead of being squished together like an oversized, human sandwich. ;) I liked it!

Big HUB - but ticket lines can be horribly long (wait for 45 minutes?) there are some staff to help and when you find them - they are very good - but not always easy to find. sometimes i felt I had to search for a sign. clean (at least compaired to NYC subways).

An architecturally pleasing yet well-modernised European station. The information boards were clear, up to SNCF standard, and the ticket barriers worked fine. However they should announce the platform number sooner and not immediately before the departure - 15m prior to the train's departure is far too late to fully board a crowded high-speed service.

I bought the card Navigo decouverte at the metro stop. The lady at the ticket office was kind and issued the card immediately. I did not know there are Navigo agency at the major station, so I just asked to the metro ticket office. Please don't forget to have your ID photo to issue the Navigo card. Gare de l'Est was less busy than Gare Du Nord but still better to pay attention your belongings.

It’s a thief’s paradise, where they are roaming freely and happily. The police at the station is the worst of all in the whole world, that you will ever meet. They are useless and very unsupportive if anything happens.

Nice station but overpriced. Convenient ATM machine. The problem was the helpdesk. Because of the train strike I had to exchange my ticket. She spoke to me in English.. but the moment I asked where I could get my refund.. she only spoke French! The trip to Frankfurt from here was very easy. I would do it again.

Large building with several shops inside, overpriced, but which have the merit of existing. 1) Toilet opens at 6 o’clock, this information is on the door and what do you think? It’s 6:30, I have an hour before my train and every time you need to go down and check if it’s already open or not, with all your bags, because there are thief’s on this station. There is only one WC for the whole station. 2) Chargers on the table don’t working, it doesn’t matter which kind of phone you have - they just don’t working, as well as for computer. 3) where is security? When you sitting on the chair, trying to connect to the WiFi and someone in front of you taking some pills and then began talking to you, and for everybody it’s normal? 4) If you have baggage you can leave it here, but in case you have train at 23 o’clock or at 5 in the morning-you can’t get your baggage back, because this locker works from 7:30 until 23:00, so if you forget to take your things out before they will close - you just don’t have your baggage anymore. I’m not satisfied with this train station.
