A man-made reservoir inside the University of Ibadan. The Dam needs to be upgraded and maintained with a fencing round it. The Dam can be transformed to a centre of tourist attraction. It can be worked on.

It has a very nice view and it is home to many wildlife and birds. But it isn't in its best shape.

It's a natural dam constructed to serve the university community. The environment is natural and serene and in the water you can vividly notice the abundance of aqua life.

Awba dam is an exciting place to see a few waterbirds, an afforestation project just began under the purview of the Wildlife and Ecotourism Management Department. A nursery has been established and indigenous trees have begun being planted. Exciting wild fishing takes place here during festive seasons of the year. Especially Sallah and Christmas

It's a serene place but with some restrictions as they have found students trying to commit suicide there in previous times. So a security personnel is located there to monitor and ensure that no stories that touch the heart will spring up from there.

  • 3/5 Aruoriwoghene O. 4 years ago on Google
It has a wonderful view. I believe the university should strive to improve the surroundings

  • 5/5 Rosemary O. 4 years ago on Google
Well, let's just say that the community needs to see it better than just a fishing pond or sourch of water. It can be well structured to do more and also attract a better crowd as the place is peaceful to just sit around and watch the environment. If work can begin on it, the place will turn out better than it is now.

  • 3/5 Samuel A. 4 years ago on Google
It's an old water works system provided for University of Ibadan community. Mainly for water supply, though fishing activities do occur on it occasionally.

The Awba Dam, University of Ibadan, Ibadan. was constructed and completed by the British Government in April, 1964. Its was constructed to serve the following purposes: 1. To store water for domestic consumption 2.To reserve water for laboratory use. To preserve fishing culture with UI 3.To facilitate hydro-biology and fishery reserve project To develop the Dam for recreational and Ecotourism site It is Significant to note that this Dam was named after the river OBA which the European obliquely named Awba. It is a nice place to be for group outings and all other social events πŸ€Όβ€β™€οΈπŸ€Όβ€β™‚οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ πŸ‘ͺπŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§
