Second time coming here and again it did not disappoint! The deep fried olives were so delicious and the other foods were equally tasty as well as aesthetically beautiful. We had nice seats and the atmosphere was just right, not too loud and not empty. Will be back again some time I’m sure.

Food is decent and portions are hearty but the service leaves something to be desired. They don't seem happy to be there nor do they seem happy to have you there. I've been about 3-4 times and all the times the service was lukewarm at best. It's set up to be cafeteria service style for takeout orders so they literally just have to scoop the food into your container and check you out. It should only take 5 minutes. But every time I've gone, it takes 20+ minutes even with one or two people in line. On one occasion, the lady behind the food counter was cleaning some spoons or something for about 10 minutes with her back turned without ever acknowledging that there were people waiting in line. A young man came from the back, didn't acknowledge customers, spoke to the lady and went right on back. I finally said something and when the lady was good and ready, she turned around to help us like we were bothering her. Another time I went, I asked the young lady if I could see what all they were serving so I could choose. The young lady opened the lid on the first pan, didn't say what it was until I asked her. Then I had ask her to open each subsequent lid each time and had to ask her what it was each time. It was like pulling teeth. I gave it a few chances thinking it was a one time thing but it's definitely just the energy there. I don't want to spend money where I feel like a bother, just not my jam. If the service was better, I'd probably go back more frequently but not worth it.

Have to say I was a little bit disappointed with the evening at food for friends. Service left a lot to be desired on a couple of levels, however, the food itself was very enjoyable.

We had a great evening, tasty food and drinks enjoyed by a party of four. Massive thank you to Daisy who looked after us this evening, making superb food and drink recommendations for our party. I personally enjoyed an old fashioned cocktail to drink. With the sourdough garlic bread to start, massaman curry for mains, and cheesecake for dessert. All dishes were very tasty, I would fully recommend. We will be returning!

More than anything else, I didn’t think this place was value for money. We ordered two mains (the one we wanted was not available, which was sad since they only have 5-6 mains on their menu in the first place). A main was just shy of £20, but the flavours were not spectacular. It was very home-style cooking in my opinion. Sure the pasta looked fancy, but I’d rather eat in an Italian place. Perhaps it’s better for just wine and nibbles.

This place was alright right. Would’ve given an extra star, if it hadn’t been for the service. Skip out on the mapo tofu. Pictures look good but nothing special or maybe it was just the service?!

I got the kale bone, collards, Mac & cheese, cornbread, & tropical drink. The kale bone a flavor/ texture that remind me of stuffing mixed with soy with gravy of top. Not bad at all but I’m not a stuffing kind of person so I wouldn’t get it again. The collards was your typical collards & I did enjoy that. The Mac & cheese was the BEST vegan Mac & cheese I have ever tasted & I have tried a few. The cornbread was dry. I took one bite & trashed it. The tropical drink have hibiscus in it & it’s delicious. The customer service is welcoming & friendly. The place does have a slight Odor like it’s a older building.

Beyond rude. After walking in we were greeted by a dark haired women who told us they were closed after asking if we could have a table for two. It was 16:00, Google opening times say the restaurant is open until 22:00. We saw a customer just order some food and there were lots of customers eating and lots of spare tables. To be given no explanation for potential early closure, we were left feeling embarrassed we were possibly judged on our appearance as two young professionals not able to afford the food?- we were disappointed after looking forward to tasting a variety of your vegan dishes. Absolutely disgusted by the customer service. Food for what friends...

Great vegan/vegetarian spot in Brighton. We were seated next to a table of three very rude women who proceeded to complain loudly about every single thing on the menu (and complain about millennials and how they’ve ruined food for “old school vegetarians”). They were also very rude to the staff, and the manager very calmly and professionally asked them to leave (which we all appreciated!) Aside from that, it didn’t ruin the meal as the food was amazing. I had the beer-battered banana blossom which was really good. Service was also great - definitely one to return to!

The food is very delicious and decent. The atmosphere is amazing. I am suprized to receive the postcard at the end of our dinner. One tiny suggestion may help improve, if possible, the fried Tofu is a little bit salty for us.

Was pretty disappointed after going here. Was highly recommended but really did not even come close to living up to its promise. The curry lacked salt. The pasta was average at best but really did not have the oomph of good pasta and traditional Italian seasoning. Really was looking forward to the ramen but I guess they did not have that. They kept 3 salads in mains and the waiter himself said they would not be filling(why are they a main then?) maybe it’s because they have only 5 things 3 of which are salads on their menu + small plates.. but judging by their mains I’d assume their small bites are basically nibbles.

Had an excellent meal out this evening at Food for Friends! Daisy was very helpful with good knowledge of the menu and consistently provided a friendly service. The squash rigatoni was super tasty and was followed by the excellent orange, fig and almond tart. Will definitely come back :)

This food was out of this world good! The boa buns, the potatoes, vegan scallops. Possibly one of the best meals I’ve ever had. I highly recommend. I accidentally left my bag here and the man who cleans in the morning found it for me, even after a waiter the previous night could not find it, he was very kind!

I booked a table for 5.45 on a Monday evening. A quiet time for a quality restaurant. Anyway service was professional. The ambience was pleasant. The vegan options I chose, soup of the day (beetroot) with a couple of pieces of toasted sourdough was delish. The main course, banana blossom and chips was a little too elaborate for me. It was tasty but I'd have preferred plainer peas and a slightly bigger portion of battered banana blossom and a few more chips. I had a bottle of tap water. It cost £29.25 which given the effort going into the food is, in my opinion, a fair price. I would definitely come again.

It confirms its fame. Friendly atmosphere, friendly staff, they took care of me during my whole stay. Well presented food. I had olives, courgette kofta and garlic & rosemary potatoes. A vegan dinner of a certain refinement. I definitely plan to return when I am back in Brighton and bring friends.

Food for Friends must be my favourite vegetarian restaurant in Brighton. The menu is perfect, the food is tasty and service is fast. The only downside was that there were far too many people in a small area, which is not ideal during the covid19 pandemic. Otherwise it would be fine.

One of the worst experiences I’ve had in quite some time. I rarely bother to write reviews because I know that sometimes people may be having a bad day or it’s just one of those things (esp during these times) BUT I feel so compelled to share this awful experience with you. Due to the pandemic, things were super quiet in Brighton so we strolled upon this beautiful looking little find in the heart of town. We just fancied a hot drink, nibbles and something sweet so expressed this after entering. Bear in mind that there were only two other couples in the entire restaurant! Even before we were taken to our seats, the woman behind the bar on the right (who I now understand is the ‘manager’) asked us what drink we wanted, and with what type of milk - bear in mind, the door had just been shut and we were standing there waiting to be seated by the other female assistant. We were slightly taken aback by the brashness of this but gave our order nevertheless and were then seated. Very bizarre to not even be seated before giving our order across a bar but I digress ... Having just taken our coats off, and the menus just being placed on our table, the same woman that ‘greeted’ us came back to get our order - again, having just been seated. I then politely asked to have a bit of time as we’d hardly taken a breath before orders were being demanded so quickly - within no more than 5 minutes of entering the restaurant. We knew that something didn’t feel right but we continued briefly, before asking for the dessert menu to which the ‘manager’ gave me such a repugnant attitude and look - huffing under her mask. At that point, we decided that we weren’t going to stand for this and informed the same woman that we were going to leave. She didn’t ask why, or if there was an issue but just stood there and watched us leave. Was this racial? Perhaps sexist? Even a bad day? Or just prejudice full stop? I have no idea, but what I’m certain about is that I will never visit this establishment again. To be made to feel the way that we were in those few minutes is not only disgusting, but unacceptable on every level. No matter who you are or what your needs may be, don’t ever make people feel the way you did in those moments. You have no idea who we were, what we wanted or what positivity we could’ve added to your day today, especially during these unprecedented times. But you’ll never know, because our business went to an establishment who were all of the things you should’ve been. If I could’ve given zero stars I would’ve. Merry Christmas!

I had a late lunch there in between lockdowns. I hate to say it, as I used to love this veggie restaurant, but FFF is not what it used to be. Delays at every step. Sri lankan curry was a joke - it's just a sauce! £15 for creamy sauce with nothing in it.

The food was tasty but $13+ was way overpriced for the skimpy amounts on a veggie plate. Cashier with tats and facial piercings completed the sale then, without washing her hands, took a sauce container, dipped it into a cold salad with her bear-claw fingernails touching the food, then proceeded to eat it from the cup. Had she used a SPOON to scoop and eat the salad, I might return, but knowing hygiene isn't taken seriously, that was my first and last visit.

Great vegetarian soul food! The collard greens are so tastey and the potatoes have a unique flavor! Everything is vegetarian which is amazing and the service here is fantastic. The people who work here are so lovely and eager to help. The prices are also reasonable and ordering is quick and easy. The atmosphere is very nice and good for families or groups

We have eaten here for years and it has usually been great food and service. . . until now. 1. The upholstered chairs were filthy, like seriously nasty. 2. The water came with a lovely bottle neck of sediment buildup. Easy to spot and to clean but just ignored by staff. 3. The utensils were pretty cheap and did not match - this is supposed to be good quality dining not a roadside cafe. 4. I ordered two glasses of wine. At £9 a pop. It was undrinkable and I had to send it back. Corked. (obviously not their fault. . . but one sniff and it was obvious it was bad as well as the colour was not right.) I fear the wine supplier might be supplying inferior goods as the next £9 glasses that came were only 'so/so' at best. 5. it was Sunday. . . they decided not to offer their Sunday menu with no warning saying 'it was the first Sunday this year so we had a problem'. Really? Like they didn't know it was going to be a Sunday? But they said we could have a nut roast with all the trimmings so we ordered that. 6. Starter one. . . Halloumi strips and a dip. Almost cold. Really? 7. Thai cauliflower. . . five HUGE florets. Yep, pretty nice but the portion size was enough for two or three easily. Strange. We had the dish before a year ago and it was one of the best starters I can remember. . . now? Not a patch. 8. Then the main came. . .the nut roast was some kind of sloppy thing smothered with cranberries. I love nut roasts and know one when I eat it. This was not one. Not even close. Inedible. Roast potatoes looked and tasted like yesterdays heated up. Carrots the same, Some kind of Kale portion that was inedible. The gravy came in a huge catering pot from the kitchen. Inexcusable. At that point we gave up, sent it back mostly uneaten and told the manager what we though. He said sorry and he was trying to get the standard up after being there for two months. Well, in two months if that was the result who knows what it was like before that. I did not pay obviously. The owner has a series of restaurants he now owns across Brighton and Hove. We have dined in many of them. . . but it smacks of him not looking after this one and to be so bad to make me write this is unacceptable. I'd avoid until they have seriously improved their offering.

Absolutely delicious! Staff are friendly and polite. Really good portion sizes, please don't change this! First time trying banana flower fish and chips and I would definitely recommend this. Had a lovely date night here this week and the food didn't disappoint at all. Absolutely delicious vegan dishes. Some of the flavour combinations were truly mind-blowing. The vegan meringue dessert is top tier. The service however was excruciatingly slow, especially for a week night . Seemed to be one guy serving the entire main room and I felt sorry for him to be honest as he is clearly a fantastic server.

I really enjoyed my food here. Staff were really lovely too and I didn't feel rushed eating my food. It was warm outside so I tried the watermelon salad. I think they converted me as I'm not really used to watermelon in an actual salad but it was lovely. The tofu bites were fantastic too they weren't very crispy but I liked that really and the dipping sauce was good too. If I'd have had more time I would have come back for dinner!! It's not super cheap but quality taste and presentation are worth paying for.

We ate at Food for Friends 8+ years ago. And it blew our minds. This time it was delightful but not excellent. The curry my wife had was really good and full of flavour. The burger I had was the best burger I had this summer but wasn’t up there with our last experience. So perhaps this would not have been four stars of our last experience had not been as brilliant? We had a lovely evening but decided not to stay for desert or coffee.

We had a wonderful time having lunch here. It is on the more expensive side but it was worth it because of the attention to detail with the dishes and how lovely the staff were. We ordered three mains and they were way bigger than we expected for a fancier restaurant, but they still felt pretty light and healthy. I would definitely recommend visiting for a special occasion.

We had a birthday lunch here. There was a wide range of options and we felt a bit overwhelmed, however it was worth dedicating a bit more time to their menu. The restaurant was fairly packed at the time of when we were there, which resulted in a higher than usual waiting time. They apologized for it multiple times and we appreciated that they had demonstrated awareness of their turnaround time. The main reason why I decided to give this restaurant a four-star rating is the fact that they added way too much salt to three of our dishes. In my view, it is always easier to enhance the level of saltiness in a meal. I personally never add salt to anything, but even those at the table who tend to add salt to meals, said they had found those dishes too salty.

We went for a late lunch / early dinner on Saturday and had a brilliant time. The restaurant is beautiful and has a lovely atmosphere. The staff were very friendly, helpful, and attentive. Best of all, the food was delightful, and there was a great selection of vegan-friendly dishes. We really appreciate the focus on vegetables rather than vegan 'meat' replacements. We shared the Chantonay Carrots, Crispy Oyster Mushrooms, and Confit Garlic Sourdough Bread to start, and all three were delicious. We all agreed that the carrot dish in particular stood out as having a great range of flavours. For our mains, we had the Celeriac Wellington, Butternut Squash, and Mushroom pasta (the latter two mains are shown in the pictures). All three large plates were very tasty and beautifully presented. I can recommend the mushroom pasta dish to anyone who is particularly hungry as it was a large portion. The prices were not cheap but the food we had was much nicer than some other vegan-friendly restaurants with similar prices, and the service was very good. Aside from the food, we each had non-alcoholic or low alcohol drink and the bill including service charge was equivalent to £33 per person.

Had a lovely dinner here! Reservation recommended, but they squeezed us in on a Monday. We tried the corn ribs, foccacia, and a rigatoni with housemade sauce. Everything was high quality and my non vegan partner said this was one of his favorite meals the entire trip!

It's ok, atmosphere was nice until some alcoholic trump walked in and started talking really loud, not the restaurant's fault. Aperol spritz was a bit overpriced for the size, beer was cheap though. I found my food to be too salty. Service wad really good. 3.5 after all, would probably go back

Picked this restaurant to celebrate my birthday with a friend and I don't think I could have made a better choice. The best vegetarian food I've ever had in my life and one of the best restaurants I've ever visited! Portions are generously sized, the staff was super friendly and enthusiastic, even brought me truffles and sang happy birthday. The whole experience was lovely and made my night special and memorable! Will certainly be returning for more.

Was OK. But just about OK, sadly. Food was far far too salty, to the point I couldn't finish. Menu was by no means innovative, many dishes felt like dishes we could cook at home. Sad to hear the 10% service charge added to the bill doesnt go to the waiters but to the kitchen, which is fine but should not be called service and should be made clear. Would not rush back sadly.

Staff are really friendly. Food a little bland. We had a really good night - our kiwi waitress was just amazing! The food was okay but a little disappointing. Quite flavourless, despite all the good ingredients. I got the soup of the day which was artichoke and that was amazing. Overall, a little overpriced for average but a nice time.

We came for a date night I had some vouchers given for my birthday and finally got round to trying food for friends. A warm welcome from the manager who gave us a better table after seating us. Service started well but as they got busier they struggled to keep up and remember orders such as drink menu and drinks. We had to wait some time and ask other members of staff for the drink me u which eventually came. We then had to wait on the drinks which was another gruelling experience. Overall the food was great that said the lentil burger patty was burnt and a bit of a let down. The side dishes specifically the Bao buns and battered tofu were incredible and something I would order as a quick bite again. As you might tell we didn't stay for dessert. The service charge was already included, my thoughts on this is if you do cannot provide a fantastic, prompt service you shouldn't have the cheek to include that on the receipt. Overall, good food, average service so wouldn't return.

We ordered all our dishes to share and they were just amazing and delicious! The gnocchi was best gnocchi I’ve ever had! So light and as soft as melted cheese and not stodgy like it often is!! The bao buns were a little underwhelming. I had the Eaton mess for dessert.. amazing!!

We had a lovely meal on Thursday, served by an older gentleman who was very welcoming - the perfect host. Good food, better service and nice cocktails. One comment would be that I would have preferred it if the Sri Lankan curry was served with rice; a minor complaint in an otherwise perfect experience dining at Food for Friends.

Very unhelpful with booking. Tried to book a table for five online but the system wouldn't let me. Then messaged the restaurant to book. Heard nothing back so chased only to be that there were no tables, despite there Brigg loads when I tried to book before. Extremely unhelpful system and unapologetic staff.

Super delicious, very creative, flavorful and unique vegetarian and vegan food! We had a great time in this restaurant : it is cozy and not too loud, wait staff is friendly and attentive, it feels sophisticated but not stuffy, the price is good for what you get. And of course, the food was perfect. For two people, we shared a "nibble" (The wonderful crispy tofu with Mirin sauce), a main (roasted Thai cauliflower with a delicious peanut sauce) and a large plate (a vegan burger with a beet patty and grilled shallots, good but more usual), and then two desserts (the delice chocolate orange and the affogato), it was the perfect quantity of food for two people! Bill ended up being around 45£ for two, service included, which I found very reasonable for that quality and quantity. Overall, a real gem that I would recommend to anyone who likes to try different flavors, vegan or not!

the service was beyond amazing (not intrusive, awesome advice, presentable, you get my drift). setting was fabulous (not too loud, not too quiet, no barry manillow). ooooooooh but the food, it was so posh in sound and i thought i was ordering for the queen but my eyes ate the food before it hit my mouth (that's beyond good), my taste buds died in happiness:) I'd never had tofu cube things before but so happy i did (and the sauce!), and i didn't have to remortgage the house or sell my car! credit to the waiting staff and chefs for making for making this place what it is:) thank you so, so much:) these guys have really thought about the menu, what compliments what in foodland, just the whole shebang!!! guys, girls, anyone... if you want to impress the significant other or ask them to marry you, this is the place... you get an amazing meal AND (hopefully) your partner in life (and death, well it's forever). xo.

Had an absolutely wonderful evening (Sunday 16th August). Unfortunatley, did not catch the name of the very kind gentleman who hosted us- but he made sure we had the best of times. I can highly reccomend the Artisan Bread platter (especially the rye bread) and the Gnocci! A friend had the Sri Lankan Curry and said it was to die for. Highly reccomend a visit if you are after a sophisticated 'grown up' dinner with a lovely atmosphere (we sat outside, and had the whole alley to ourselves) with some lovely food and brilliant staff members!

We had an amazing meal at Food For Friends just after the most recent lockdown had ended, to celebrate (slightly belatedly) our anniversary. The staff were really warm and welcoming in what must be uncertain times for them, which made me think it's being well managed from that point of view. The food came promptly and in good portions. First and foremost, the corn on the cob ribs are something to behold. They're an unassuming item on the menu, but really over deliver. Bao buns were ace, deep-fried cauliflower delicious and some top notch chips and all worked well. Thoughtfully we got a little plate of anniversary truffles, but followed them with some sumptuous deserts including a fantastic affogato. All in all highly recommended.

  • 5/5 Georgia J. 3 years ago on Google
Had an amazing birthday meal here, the staff made every effort to make it an excellent experience for us, and the food was absolutely delicious. We had a excellent table in a quieter part of the restaurant which was helpful for those in our family who are hard of hearing. We also had money off our meal as they are continuing the eat our to help our scheme. They kept our water topped up (which is always annoying in other restaurants when they don’t do that!), apologised for food being late (we hadn’t even realised ourselves) and when an item wasn’t available on the menus went out of their way to rectify the situation. The food was outstanding and the drinks menu was excellent. Our server Francesca was excellent and she really made it a great evening - she even brought us complementary bread and birthday truffles!

Award winning vegan and vegetarian restaurant. We have been going there for years and always enjoyed the experience. The cocktails are superb so do treat yourself - it is wort it! The service is excellent and they make you feel you are looked after. The hardest thing is not ordering every single course. I found out that an afogato to finish it off is the best way to go. Highly recommended.

  • 5/5 Alex H. 3 years ago on Google
The absolute best. Been here 3 times so far and they have all been exceptional. Came here on our anniversary most recently and they gave us a lovely free anniversary dessert. The corn ribs are the most delicious thing ever, they had sold out of the them last time we went which almost broke my heart but they made up for it with their other gorgeous dishes. Cannot fault it at all, lovely service to match the lovely food.

Absolutely Devine! Can’t rate them enough- great service, great selection of food, perfect portions. We had the gnocchi, Sri Lankan curry and banana blossom. All very well seasoned but if I lived in Brighton I’d be eating the gnocchi everyday!

  • 4/5 Laura Lucia Rodríguez P. 3 years ago on Google
This restaurant menu is just perfect, delicious vegan food, that made me and my friends to have several foodgasms. I have to say the gnocchi was my favourite, but all the savoury plates we tried that night were marvellous. I had really high expectations on desserts and they were not as exciting as the savoury plates, but still good. The waitress was super kind but the host was a bit indifferent to our table in comparison to the others. Anyhow, I totally recommend to go, it is worth it.

We had a long day walking the seven sisters cliffs in August and on the train back to Brighton tried to book a restaurant in the centre of the city. We succeeded to book a table at Food for friends much later in the day. We arrived at the restaurant one hour before our booking time to check if by any chance our table was free earlier and luckily it was. We have to say that the receptionist and our waitress then were both professional and friendly and made us feel welcome although we were dressed more for a hike than for a night out. Food was lovely. I am not a vegetarian and did not miss the meat at all. My husband is a vegetarian and he was equally pleased. I think the name of the restaurant is well chosen and we will try to go again. Recommended.

The food here is ridiculously good. So good in fact that after a mouthwatering dinner last night, we returned this morning for breakfast! Last night we had dishes ranging from Sri Lankan curry, to crispy cauliflower (the best), fried tofu, noodles and every single thing was completely delicious, and gluten-free too which was a bonus for me. The veggie breakfast this morning was also amazing, the oyster mushrooms were my favourite on the plate. Super nice and efficient service and lovely decor too. Great food! Don't let the area for you. I ended up driving past this place twice before I found it but I'm really glad I did! The veggie pot pie with gravy was delicious. The rice was very good as well and the yams were sweet and soft. The portion sizes I felt were very fair as I was not able able to finish it all in one sitting. The only complaint was the city bread, was a bit dry and not sweet enough for my taste. But i did like how it was way too break apart and very crumbly . Worth your time to stop by and give this place a try!

We ordered take away a few days ago. It was the most exquisite and well made food presentation I have ever seen in a take away meal. We all enjoyed the food and looking forward for the restaurant to open again when it will be safe to do so. We highly recommend their delicious food.

Easily the best dinner and lunch restaurant in Nukus. Reasonable liquor collection as well given the location. Hookah starts only after 7pm.

Worth the wait and incredible value and quality. Laghman soup and kababs were basically all we could get beside beers and Uzbekistan red wine but man was the food delicious. Think steakhouse in the steppe. Long long wait times on a Saturday night and they ran out of a lot of items. Also got skewers of potatoes (very good) and fries (meh). Juciest lali kabab this Indian had had in a long long time and the chicken kabab was exquisitely tender. We sat outside on a mid September night and had a great meal for 5. All in, with food and 8 beers and a bottle of wine cost less than the cheapest bottle of wine in any restaurant in SF.

Staff doesn't understand much in engliah and russian that's why your order isn't always the thing that you wanted. Also meals aren't excellent, I can call them 'good' or 'fine', just nothing special except lagman which is truly one of the best I have ever eaten. Waiting time is about 35 minutes or longer also when there is no big party upstairs everyone is needed to pay 4000 for a music.

Entering Neo's restaurant you smell roasting meat smoke, but the seating area is smoke free. Although there was an ashtray on my table I didn't see anyone smoking or smell cigarette smoke. The seating is comfortable (it reminded me of an American steak house) the service is fast, my server's English fortunately was good so he could help me with the menu which I could not decifer. My food was nicely presented and cooked and the check was all right.

We’ve been today to try food in this restaurant and I have to say the quality and taste of the food is normal, prices are very expensive. One sweet corn rib which is normal corn that is prepared on a plate on four slices costs £8 and it’s just the normal corn. Burger house big plate costs £15 and it’s definitely not a big plate. I wouldn’t mind to pay even more but food was not tasty and and customer service was not very good. When different people come waiters use different attitude and when they asked for order different customer they were friendly nice ,Didn’t feel comfortable at all .

Disapppointing meal here today. We waited an hour for our mains and £48 for two mains, two orange juices and one starter for one adult and one child seemed an awful lot for nice but not amazing food, sorry!

What an amazing place. I'm a meat and two veg sort of guy but a restaurant like Food 4 Friends (FFF) challenges that sort of orthodoxy. The menu was full of original ideas and fantastic combinations that were a delight to the pallette. Although short the wine list was exemplary and the choice of cocktails was interesting. The staff were attentive and funny and exuded a love for the food they were serving that made the whole experience a joy from start to finish. We stumbled across this gem whilst walking around The Lanes as it takes a relatively low profile compared to its brasher neighbours. Don't let that put you off, whatever it lacks in outward displays of glitz it more than makes up with quality of what counts - food and service.

Great food and wine, fancy place. I went there for lunch and really enjoyed it. I had the banana blossom fish and chips and it was incredible! Tasty, savoury, the chips were just perfect as well as the mash pea and mint. The wine was just fine too. I will come back to try the other vegan meals, for sure.

Had an absolutely amazing breakfast here last weekend! We’d already been and loved the lunch but breakfast was fantastic - we had the veg and vegan versions of the same, the Field. Presentation was beautiful and everything cooked perfectly. The staff were really friendly, welcoming to my baby and made sure everything was easy for me with my pram. Highly recommend!

Very busy when we walked passed so we thought it must be good. They managed to find us a place outside. They have two outside areas we sat in the quieter area, but still had a good atmosphere Good choice of food. Shared a bottle of wine. Friendly efficient staff. .

Stopped in here for dinner on a Tuesday after making a reservation. The quality of service was lovely from the moment we stepped inside. The menu offers a great range of vegetarian options which we were all eating on this particular night, as well as some good non alcoholic drink options. The tofu appetiser was delicious, as was the artisan breads with hummus & oil for dipping. The aubergine pasta which we all got went down a treat. The goats cheese made the sauce so nice and creamy, and the dish overall was flavoured brilliantly. Loved the decor inside, which felt very fresh, cosy, and relaxing. I do think it could’ve benefited from some quiet background music playing though, something quite mellow and chilled to further enhance the relaxed, casual vibe.

So so so nice. Went with my friend and we had a lovely time, the food was wonderful especially the sweetcorn ribs. The atmosphere is very cosy and it’s not overwhelming which I liked. The wine was really nice. They also gave us a cute postcard!

Definitely my favourite restaurant in Brighton. I’ve been here on numerous occasions with our significant others, family members, and as the restaurant’s name suggests, friends. The food is absolutely stunning. I’m far from vegan, but I remember having a beetroot risotto and it blew me away. The staff are always lovely and very attentive. I always recommend this place to my friends are visiting Brighton for the weekend.

While being seated in a nearly empty restaurant they had to sit us right next to other guests which was a bit annoying however the botanist room decor was very pretty and it was all very clean (including the toilets). Service was quick and friendly, menu had plenty of options for everyone and they allowed me to remove the chillis from my pasta. While there were a couple of classic dishes like the curry/ the pasta was new and interesting. While certainly not the tastiest dish- it was warm, comforting and the fried capers on top were delicious. However I would say it was a bit on the expensive side and probably wouldn’t come back for that meal but would definitely try something else.

Amazing local Brighton resturant offering amazing vegetarian dishes. We had a Sunday roast which tasted unbelievably good. Amazing flavours and top notch roast potatoes. Staff were nice and atmosphere was lovely, filled with lots of real plants. Highly recommend for anyone in the area!

Very poor (non existing) service! Food for friends was recommended this place, for the food and the atmosphere! Tho my personal experience this evening I can say I am quite unhappy with how we were treated, we were greeted by a male waiter, that did not look at us at all, was looking everywhere else then, when he took our order was quite rude to say the least! Kept on asking is that all to us all, as if we had not ordered enough. We were simply not that hungry, I had to ask him twice for my drink order! Our food took ages to arrive , our waiter was no where to be seen. When we did received the food it was lovely. Real shame about the service. The real bad icing on the cake was when the bill was presented, we wanted to split it up (as we were with friends) and his tone of voice was more than rude. In fact we debated if we should actually pay the service charge . Nevertheless we paid it all in full and he then persisted we had got the wrong amount - when we added it up in front of him he simply shrugged his shoulders and started clearing our plates. No apology nothing. Quite rude and not what I expect from a restaurant of this quality.

We really enjoyed Food For Friends. In fact a friend recommended it to us. The presentation was beautiful and I would rate the food delicious and inventive. There were some really great flavor combinations. I had the squash rigatoni and my husband had the Thai salad- he liked it but said it was just a tad salty - mine was spot on and much better than my version of this dish. The restaurant itself probably needs a good going over of an update- stuff just looked like it has reached its tired and worn stage, but we were comfortable and the decor is modern just worn. The bar looked nice and over all I definitely recommend.
