This is what we call "gangster pagoda" which refers to this ancient gigantic pagoda that has been standing for years without moving out of the way. So, cars, buses, and all vehicles will have to drive slightly on the side. Don't mess with this big papa!

Old and famous chedi (pagoda) in Ayutthaya. You can see this chedi when you drive into Ayutthaya as it is located on the road before you drive to cross the bridge.

One of the most history rich round abouts I've used. One side is blocked off to traffic so you are required to do a U-Turn to access certain roads.

Ayutthaya itself is a great and wonderful city itself, not hectic as BKK is and with many wonderful temples and historical buildings to explore and it is also a wonderful very interesting and short travel by train from BKK. Definitely worth to visit

Chedi Wat Sam Pluem is the bell shaped chedi that welcomes you into the old city of Ayutthaya. The rest of the adjoining monastery has been cleared away for the construction of roads, but back in the day it was part of an important canal system from where locals could go directly to a lot of other temple complexes.

Good location and so many nice and surprising deals that can not be found in other more central locations. Worth visiting and indulging yourself.
