*Disclosure: Self-initiated review. No benefits were obtained in exchange for this unbiased review.* October 2022 I went to the Grand Palace on a weekend, and paid 1000 baht for an English-speaking guide who was one of several independent(?) guides offering their services at the main entrance. Dress code was unnecessarily strict. My partner had to raise her arms above her head to prove that her top will not lift and reveal her belly. Even after entering, I witnessed guards approaching a modestly dressed tourist and asking her to cover her shoulders! However if you enter the grounds fully covered, even with the tattiest clothes and the nastiest flip-flops, you'll be absolutely fine. Alright enough with the whingeing. The buildings were really lovely, with gold leaf and coloured glass featuring on the exterior and interior of many buildings. There's also an interesting fusion of European and Thai aesthetics, reflecting a particular period of Thai history. Many buildings were not open to the public and had to be admired from outside. More informational signs would also be great. In all, probably a must-see in Bangkok.

Went on a Saturday by taxi, and it really felt like they were all scamming us from the start.. Taxi driver dropped us off in the entrance which was closed, due to a renovation. Few people came straight to us right away, saying The Grand Palace is closed and we should take a paid boat tour instead so our trip wouldn't be in vain. We have two Thai locals in our group so we can converse with these so called "Tour Guides" quite well. They were pretty convincing and made our Thai friends in doubt whether Palace was open or not. Good thing we came in group of five and were able to have a logical discussion and decided to go round the castle for another entrance. Not even 5 minutes in on our walk and other locals confirmed to us that we do have to take a round trip to enter the Palace. To enter The Grand Palace itself is 500 Baht for foreigner and free for locals (need to show ID). You need to be fully clothed from top to bottom, no shorts or anything revealing. They have a changing room before entrance where you can ask for some robe/pants to cover if you don't come prepared. Not sure if it's free/rent/buy.. The place was majestic and lots of spots to take photos, but overall it really felt too expensive for the price they have..

What a magnificent place to visit. There was a good size crowd to get in, but it was only a short wait for the tickets and the queue was moving quickly to enter the Palace grounds. Dress code is strictly adhered to, but vendors outside can provide you with the necessary cover, at a premium price, if you are unaware or forget to dress appropriately. Can get scorching hot inside as there is little air circulating and a lack of shade from the sun. Taking water is definitely worthwhile on a hot sunny day. There is a free bust to transfer you to the free cultural dance performance at the theatre. The show starts at 1pm and you really need to be at the Palace exit where the buses are by 12.45

A must visit place in Bangkok full of history, ornate architecture, and art. The stunning detail found throughout the complex is mind boggling. Take your time and meander your way through the property-you won’t be disappointed. Every corner provides rich new attractions for the eye. Foreigners take note - you cannot wear shorts, you will not be allowed to enter. There are vendors around the entrance that will see you a pair so don’t distress, just have 200 baht handy (per pair).

A really beautiful place and palace - the museum is also very worthwhile. Unfortunately, it is not allowed to take photos there. What you should not forget is to dress appropriately. Shorts are not allowed here. However, there are a few stalls where you can quickly put something on. What you should also know is that the entrance fee of 500 baht is very high compared to other temples and sites. But apart from that, there is a lot to explore. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Guidebooks are even available free of charge in German.

One of the places in Bangkok that everyone absolutely has to visit. ♥️ I visited The Grand Palace in August 2022 and i loved it. A good spot to visit for the people who are interested in history and love to explore. It’s opened from 8:30am to 4:30pm. (Ticket time: 8:30am to 3:30pm). No need to book tickets in advance as you can buy tickets on the spot with cash or credit card. The Place is huge and there are so many temples inside so make sure to arrive early in the morning so you can spend 3/4 hrs there to explore the entire area, and also to avoid the crowd plus the weather is much better in the morning. One important thing to consider before going there is your dress code. Mini skirts, sleeveless shirts and vests are not allowed inside, just wear loose pants and shirt with sleeves. You can also buy these near the palace but it will be very expensive. And wear sunscreen or use umbrella to protect your skin as there is little shade.

This is easily one of the most magnificent places we have ever visited. Everything was built with so much detail and thoughtfulness. It is incredible how the closer you got to a building or structure, the more details it had. If you are visiting Bangkok, you absolutely need to dedicate a whole day just for this. It is that beautiful.

Cool temple grounds to see! Very ornate and historical. Great sight seeing place. Lots of ornate structures. Very beautiful and well kept grounds. We ended up buying tickets on site, they take cash or card. You can reserve tickets ahead of time, but the website only lets you purchase for the following day not same day so we just showed up and bought tickets. Please cover yourself or you will be denied entry! Pants for men and women and dress modestly. There are vendors outside that sell pants and clothing for covering up. The decorations and statues are all amazing to see. Very cool experience. Great for photography.

Incredible Buddhist architecture and vibes. Historical and artistic. You need around 2-3 hours to explore the campus. In addition to the temples, there are few museums as well. But personally I feel it's not a good idea to put tickets to enter a religious place to worship. It's not a tourist place, it's a house of God 🙏🏻

Nice place to visit when you come to Bangkok, Thailand. The architecture is very good. Don't forget to wear a formal clothes because if you wear shorts or legging, you can't go to this place. But they provide cloth loan services. Perfect to visit in the morning.

The dazzling, spectacular Grand Palace is undoubtedly the most famous landmark in Bangkok. It’s one must-see sight that no visit to the city would be complete without. It was built in 1782 and for 150 years was the home of the Thai King, the Royal court and the administrative seat of government. The Grand Palace of Bangkok is a grand old dame indeed, that continues to have visitors in awe with its beautiful architecture and intricate detail, all of which is a proud salute to the creativity and craftsmanship of the Thai people. Within its walls were also the Thai war ministry, state departments, and even the mint. Today, the complex remains the spiritual heart of the Thai Kingdom.

🇬🇧 Eng: Another interesting place in Bangkok is the Grand Palace 👍🏻 The moment you enter the territory of the palace, you do not get tired of being amazed at its beauty! Amazing architecture, riot of colors in everything, sacred places and temples, numerous sculptures of mythical animals and the opportunity to touch the history. It is on the territory of the palace that the “Wat Phra Kaew” temple is located. #dreamchaser_WatPhraKaew The Grand Palace has served as the seat of the kings of Thailand since the 18th century. Construction of the palace began in 1782, during the reign of King Rama I, when he moved the country's capital from Thonburi to Bangkok. Currently, the palace for the residence of the kings of Thailand is not used. But it hosts ceremonial celebrations such as the Coronation of King Maha Vajiralongkorn (King Rama X) in May 2019. ✅ Easy to get to / Легко добираться ✅ Access by car / Подъезд на автомобиле ✅ Suitable for children / Подходит для детей ✅ Purposeful visit / Целенаправленное посещение

(Translated by Google) It’s beautiful, but a bunch of Chinese people can’t go anywhere, come in the morning, so there is a chance that there will be fewer Chinese people and you can go to the theater, the price is 500 baht, which includes a visit to the museum (outside the palace and no one knows where it is) and the theater, which we didn’t get on the same day, the controller said to come tomorrow (this ticket to the theater is valid for several days) we didn’t go because there was only one day in Bangkok. And yet, do not get fooled by a divorce, you almost got caught !!!! On the street, a Thai who speaks very good English can come up, he supposedly wants to help you and tell you that the palace and other attractions today will be open only after lunch, because the royal family visits these places in the morning, so you can ride a boat , see the city from the river, and after lunch the boat will take you to the Royal Palace, and that's all for 3000bat !! A knock-knock appears immediately, a random passerby knocks down the price and a knock-knock takes you to the pier. I don’t know what happens next, we realized that this was a divorce and left. BE CAREFUL, DO NOT LOOK AT IT, ALL THESE PLACES ARE OPEN FROM THE MORNING, SAME AS FRAUDERS I SEEED NEAR THE ROYAL PALACE (we were stuck near the station when we were looking for directions to google map).

A well worth while attraction to visit while in Bangkok City. Men and women are expected to dress appropriately, long pants for men and women must be fully covered as well. No shorts, skirts or revealing tops are allowed here. Afterwards a Thai style show is amazing at an local theater. It was a amazing additional surprise for us.

The Grand Palace in Bangkok isn't just a residence; it's a breathtaking journey through history and culture. My recent visit was truly magnificent, and I'm excited to share my experience with you! Entering Another Era: As we stepped inside, golden spires and intricate murals painted a picture of Thailand's regal past. We spent a delightful 3-4 hours exploring the vast complex, captivated by its ornate details at every turn. Wat Po's Tranquil Beauty: Starting at Wat Po with the Reclining Buddha, standing at an impressive 46 meters, was awe-inspiring. After this, a traditional Thai massage at Wat Po School provided a rejuvenating break. Remember to grab a token early to avoid long queues later. Note: Unfortunately, we missed seeing the Emerald Buddha due to an event. Ensure you plan accordingly as it's a must-visit. Exploring Hidden Gems: The palace grounds are a treasure trove. We wandered through halls with mother-of-pearl mosaics and courtyards with vibrant murals, our kid enjoying the open spaces. Weather and Crowds: Blessed with clear skies and manageable crowds, the peaceful atmosphere enhanced our experience, casting a warm glow on the golden roofs. Final Thoughts: The Grand Palace is a must-visit, whispering history from every corner. Whether you're into history, architecture, or seeking a unique experience, it offers wonders for everyone. With its beauty, history, and serenity, the Grand Palace is an unforgettable experience. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone visiting Bangkok!

The Grand Palace in Bangkok, stands as a captivating symbol of Thai craftsmanship and heritage. Built in 1782, it served as the royal residence for generations. The intricate architecture, adorned with vibrant colors and intricate details, reflects the country's rich cultural history and artistic prowess. I visited this place by taking a local Thai guide who was able to give me a lot of information about the place and his history. They also help you navigate the complexity of a first time visitor. Many of this is a temple now and the king only visits for functions.A must-visit landmark when you are in Bangkok.

The Grand Palace lives up to its name. A beautiful, sweeping, golden array of buildings and temples. Inside the centre of the palace is the main attraction, (there are no photos or videos to be taken). Monks, will be praying and only the Thais are allowed at the front of the monuments. Price is 500 baht per person. (25/01/2020) There are many beautiful photo spots and opportunities, as well as guided tours with multiple language options. If you get the chance you may also see some military action and marches when walking around the grounds. Make sure you are definitely covered with long trousers and shoulders covered too. They are strict and will not let you in otherwise. There are the usual people selling the elephant pants outside for 200 baht... (haggle down to 100). Before you leave the main square, definitely walk past the lovely artwork and tapestry to end your journey.

We arrived early to avoid the worst heat and the worst crowds, and it was the best decision ever. I think we easily spent 4-5 hours wandering around The Emerald Buddha temple (with all the adjacent buildings) and the palace grounds - there is a lot to take in. I would say do not bother with audio guide, you can only rent it for a limited time and it is not enough to listen to even half of it. We tried and we gave up as we did not want to rush. Fortunately, we were prepared and so we knew the most important buildings we wanted to see, plus had a good guide book with us. Do not miss the Ramayana murals, they are something to admire!

Located in the heart of Bangkok, the Grand Palace is a highly popular tourist attraction. The palace is huge, stunning, and beautiful! The Grand Palace has a very strict dress code because the palace is considered to be the most sacred place in Thailand. Visitors are strongly advised to follow and pay strict attention to the required dress code. Women must not wear tight-fitting pants and legs must be covered for both men and women. Revealing clothing including sleeveless shirts is strictly not allowed and socks must be worn for visitors who wish to wear sandals or flip-flops. Lastly, no scarves or shawls are permitted to cover the shoulders. Visitors who did not meet the dress code requirement will be asked to purchase T-shirts or pants.

Tuk-tuk drivers will tell you that this place is closed for 'Buddha day' and offer to take you on a tour of the city for 20 baht. It's their favourite sport. Ignore them and avoid a lot of high pressure sales tactics at the various shops they will take you to, and check if the Grand Palace is open by yourself (it is genuinely shut sometimes). Non-Thais pay more to get in than Thais do, but grumbling will get you nowhere. Inside expect lots of shiny things, lots of other tourists, and a few unexpected places of tranquility.

This is a good place. Bangkok is everything you'd expect from the capital of Thailand: it's noisy, crowded, colorful, exciting, infuriating, and smile-inducing. There are temples, ancient sites, and other attractions to be visited, as well as modern shopping malls that have a kitschy yet high-end ambience. Bangkok can be overwhelming, but it's also a fascinating city that represents Southeast Asia's tension between the developed and developing worlds.

How amazing Thailand! Best of Thailand Temples. Official temple for the most important Buddha Image of The Kingdom. Exquisite Early Bangkok Architectures. You get two places to visit, the temple and the palace. Temple is more enjoyable as you can actually go in and explore around. This place was very impressive! 500 baht for entry, and remember to take clothes to cover up with. This was a wonderful place to visit. I didn't use a tour guide and just wandered around at took pictures. I purchased my ticket when I got there and it was easy. Just follow the instructions. Remember to dress appropriately because no shorts were allowed when I visited. Just know as you are walking that once you leave each area you are not allowed to return to that section. There are signs in place to remind you. Take many photos before moving on to next section. I really enjoyed seeing the murals on the walls and preferred the first section the most because of them. They have exquisite details. If you're in Bangkok it's definitely a must visit.

The architecture is spectacular and complex. The Grand Palace was established in 1782… and after all these years… you’re surrounded in history and grandeur. Beautiful buildings, artwork and statues. It’s a definite must see when visiting BKK. It took us 3hours to view the grounds. Try and go early as the heat of the day can take it’s toll. The ticket also included a Thai show about the historical provinces.

Visited on a very hot day and lots of areas were under construction. Palace was very beautiful and lots of intrinsic work. Picked up a free brochure to educate on the different places in the palace grounds. Buddha temple was extremely peaceful and has a no photo policy. It’s an expensive ticket at 500baht/pp There are clothing restrictions for everyone so definitely recommend wearing pants below knee and shorts covering shoulders.

It was hot walking around for 2 hours and not a lot of places to get away from the heat. But an awesome experience

One of the nicest place to visit while traveling to Bangkok, entrance ticket is 500 THB for foreigners. There's The Grand Palace and Temple of Emerald Buddha in the same area and I totally loves their beautiful architecture and design. However since it's a popular tourists destination, it will be really hard to get public transportation back and it also gonna takes time. Carefully planned your visit time if you planning to go to another destination. Have fun 😊.

The Grand Palace is a treasure trove of attractions, and while I initially allotted only two hours for my visit, I now realize that four hours would have been more appropriate. What a missed opportunity! A crucial tip for visitors is to be mindful of their attire. Fortunately, vendors outside the palace offer proper covers, ensuring you can adhere to the dress code and explore this magnificent site without any hindrance. Don't be overwhelmed by the sizable crowds; the lines move swiftly. Once checking your tickets, you receive a detailed map of the palace grounds, available in various languages. Navigating the site becomes more manageable with this helpful guide. For the architecture and ornaments, their beauty are beyond description by words. Upon entering, the sheer beauty captivates, leaving you unsure of where to direct your gaze. Every corner reveals intricate craftsmanship and historical richness.

Due to the pandemic there were hardly any visitors here and so there was time and space to enjoy it fully. Beware of scams and sellers around the place. Just ignore whatever they tell you. Remember to dress properly or you will have to buy some ridiculous body coverings. The palace is amazing and a must see place. Good to get a guide book to appreciate it fully. Buy tickets online to save time.

Well, I thought I don’t need to visit temples again. I visited all temples in Bangkok during the past 10 years. It so happened to be that I came to grand palace last time 10 years ago. Little did I expect that this place is still breath taking, well maintained and just so much worth a visit! Please be sure to: - wear long pants as a man - a long skirt as a woman - buy long trousers / skirt from the vendors outside (100 BAHT per piece) - get a tour guide (we paid 700 BAHT without tips for 2 hours of guiding). The guides will approach you outside and you can bargain the price - bring a sun umbrella, don’t under estimate the heat - water / coffee can be bought inside the palace Entrance fee: 500 BAHT per person. Cash or credit card. After visiting the grand palace, you can first go into a tunnel to cool down. From the exit, you will find an entrance to the underground tunnel which serves to cool down with air conditioning for tourists. They also provide a toilet in there. Then, you can head to the ferry pier and take a boat ride. Don’t get ripped off. 20 BAHT for the slow boat and 30-40 for the high speed boat per person. If they ask for more, go to the next pier and ask there! The ferry takes you all along the river with nice views and you can get off at ICON SIAM shopping mall for nice views and a great selection of Thai food and snacks.

Stepping into the Grand Palace of Bangkok is like stepping into a fairytale. The intricate details of the architecture and the vibrant colors of the buildings are breathtaking. The palace is a true testament to the rich history and culture of Thailand. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is a must-see, with its stunning gold-plated exterior and intricate carvings. The palace grounds are vast and offer plenty of opportunities for exploration. It's easy to get lost in the beauty of the Grand Palace and forget about the outside world. A visit here is truly an unforgettable experience.

Amazing, lots of history and culture all in one place. The detail, and the vibrant colours are just superb. Well worth the 500 Baht. Only drawback is that it is so popular that you are always competing for space, or waiting for others to finish to take a photo, or having people walk into your shots.

It’s breathtaking, the moment I entered this magnificent building, I can’t stop admiring every corner and details of this place. A lot of cultural and historical value from the past Thai kingdom that we can learn. I rent their personal headset for an hour and half that is adjustable with preferred language. In each building, it represents certain fascinating story. Make sure that you wear modest attire (covered shoulder and long pants) before entering. Some of street vendors sell long Thai pattern pants at the entrance with affordable price. Clearly it was an enlightening and precious experience to discover this site.

Some of the most stunning buildings I have ever seen. Everyone tells you to get here early. We arrived at 10am. I can not tell you how much I wish I had listened, although I though 10am was a good compromise... arrive upon opening. This was a Wednesday morning and most of the areas you could not move without hitting someone, I kid you not. This is true nut to butt action. I couldn't begin to fathom the amount of visitors here. My wife and I actually left early because the crowding was just to much for us.

Have given this 2 stars as the experience has left me a bit baffled...This is not though taking away from the opulent and worthwhile visit to Kings palace. We hired self styled tour guide, he approached us near the front gate (a fee of 200 baht, we accepted for his services) ...from him we purchased some pants 200 baht each (we were wearing shorts & as a sign of respect its customary to wear long trousers in the palace grounds) now tour guide was reasonable standard but at the end of the tour he then wanted the pants back (said he was only renting them to us) and that the tour was per person and not for the two ( this was not mentioned at start of tour) tour guide appeared as an elderly softly spoken gentleman. So wear long pants or buy some else where and negotiate a total price for tour...😞

Amazing Palace to visit :) the Grand Palace is made up of numerous buildings, halls, pavilions set around open lawns, gardens and courtyards. Its asymmetry and eclectic styles are due to its organic development, with additions and rebuilding being made by successive reigning kings over 200 years of history. The Grand Palace is currently partially open to the public as a museum, but it remains a working palace, with several royal offices still situated inside.

A Canadian Review: Much like the CN Tower in Toronto or the Eiffel Tower in Paris, The Grand Palace is the most iconic location in Bangkok. However, it carries a hefty 500 THB price tag. It gets you in for the Emerald Buddha, the Queen's museum, and a textile museum too. All other temples range from 0-200 THB and in my opinion are just as beautiful. Is it absolutely a must see location? No. Is it very beautiful and you feel good after visiting? Yes. I should note they do free 1 hour tours at 10:30am and 1pm. The tours aren't going to be incredible, but you do get some interesting information out of it.

Simply awesome. Yes it feels a little pricey at 500 baht but it’s absolutely worth it. Do yourself a favour and visit. The free guide book is a little confusing, but the stories are wonderful. Do not miss the mural depicting the story of Ramakien that surround the Temple of the Emerald Buddha A reminder to wear appropriate clothes.

Beautiful attraction, definitely worth seeing if you’re new to Bangkok or just visiting. Also very close to other places of interest like Wat Po. It’s also located in an older part of the city so the neighborhood nearby is an interesting place to wander around.

Had a good couple of hours looking around the grand Palace. You can buy tickets on the day for 500 Baht each at the gate (you can pay with cards so don't panic about paying with cash). Make sure you wear the appropriate clothing to avoid having to pay for cover up clothing there. It was extremely hot, but we were grateful to find a mini market just at the entrance selling 1.5L of water for 17 Baht. Make sure you take of your shoes when you get to the temple of the emerald Buddha! As part of the ticket you can get to watch some traditional Thai dancing at the theatre - there is a shuttle to the theatre included.

You have to visit this if you are in Bangkok to witness the sheer magnitude and craftsmanship of this place. This is a huge place so be prepared for the long walk. The entrance fee is high compared to other sites but is totally worth it. There is a lot to see here apart from the main palace. Even though there maybe many tourists on the day you go, you can still find your quite corner where you can and wonder about all the effort and creativity that went into this place. Great experience that I will remember forever.

Amazing. If you’re in Bangkok, you must visit this once. As a Thai national, you don’t have to wait long to enter but for foreigners, I suggest buying tickets through their website as it’s way easier than waiting in line. I cannot get over how stunning the place is. Definitely take your time and spend the day here, also there’s so many restaurants and cafe and good photo spots nearby!

It is a must visit place, as part of the history of this beautiful place. Bring cover clothes or buy them on the spot outside or inside the palace. Outsife you can negotiate the price. Inside is a fixed price. Also bring water and enjoy your time here, pace yourself and make sure you pay attention to the details, there are so many beautiful details to be acknowledged. Highly recommend to visit the fabric fashion museum before you live it is a piece of art in a very beautiful way put together.

It's beautiful. The entry ticket is 500 baht. It includes the cost for 3 things. 1 of these things is at another location. The ticket is valid for 1 day for the grand palace and as far as I can remember, for 7 days for the other 2 things. It's better to keep 2 days to complete the grand palace visit. Unfortunately I went there on the last day of my tour and was able to see just the grand palace. The textile museum is also nice.

Bangkok is one of the famous and attractive places among tourists and it is one of the highly recommended place for its tourist places. Bangkok has so many places to offer and the list is so big that you can not finish in one tour. Among them few things you can not miss you you are in Bangkok. Grand palace is one the places which you can not miss if your are planning your trip to Bangkok. The Grand palace is basically the home of the king of the Bangkok and it is very nicely maintained. The place is full of the temples and the King palace with well decorated with varieties flower trees. For locals it is free but chargeable for the foreigners. Also to mention do not wear short dresses if you wish to go inside the compound. We recommend to visit this place if you are in Bangkok trip.

This place is giant! Bring lots of water. They have umbrellas you can borrow (not sure if they're free or not). Free water refill station and toilets outside the entrance. I didn't notice toilets inside the palace area but there's so much there that maybe I missed it. Packed with people also. Ticket comes with admission to a dance show Mon-Fri (you can use that ticket up to 7 days after in case you visit on a weekend). Free shuttle to that theater. The show was real cool seeing the dances from different time periods and regions of the country!

And I wonder where the royal family residing now if the palace become tourist attraction. It’s majestic and well maintained. I just can’t handle the heat. One place you have to visit when you're travelling to Thailand. Located in the center of the city. Easly access from anywhere. And the locals will know the directions if you ask them. If you plan to visit, please wear proper clothes, no short skirt allowed, no tank tops. The admission are 500 Baht for foreigner, and free for locals. My suggestions, space up your phone memory to take pictures here. Use suncreen from your place. And wear comfy shoes, there's going to be a lot of walk once you in here. 8/10 would come back.

I loved The Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun. All within the same area. Walking distance. A very cultural experience each time I’ve been. Make sure you dress respectively. Tickets can be purchased on the day. I would recommend taking a taxi, public transport or Tuk Tuk here and then pay entry upon arrival. Much cheaper than booking a tour. Unless you’d like to know more of the history. There are lots of maps and information boards in English & Thai, so you can actually learn more about the history without a guide. Both ways work! Definitely recommend - beautiful gold detail on all the buildings! @spiffingtravels

Must to see place in Bangkok. Be careful about the people outside, they will try to trick you to take you some other place with some reasons such as “lunch time”, “ praying time” “you cannot enter it is closed for ……” reasons. Do not believe any of them. Also short, skirt are not allowed. You can buy outside half price of entrance price for long clothes. Quite a large place to visit if you include the temple of the emerald Buddha. Unfortunately you can't photograph inside the emerald Buddha temple itself which is a shame as it is magnificent. There are very strict dress codes for here, don't get rinsed by the outdoor sellers for long trousers/sarongs. They're charging 300 BAHT each whereas shops away from there are selling for 100 BAHT. Entrance is 500 baht for non Thai citizens (Thai nationals get free entry). Remarkable buildings with a lot of history to be seen.

I've been coming to Bangkok for almost 30 years but have never made the trip to the Grand Palace, for various reasons. Mostly because I didn't want to wear long pants on a very hot day, which is necessary to go inside the temple and Palace grounds. And while I wore shorts pants again, I was able to buy some long Thai style pants where one enters the complex for 200 baht. A fair bargain. Apparently it's necessary to either buy your ticket online, or if you buy the ticket at the venue apparently you have to wait an hour before you can go in. Be prepared for that, as we didn't do that. As it turned out we were there at 3:30 p.m. and the venue closes at 4:30 p.m. so we were able to go right in, but only had one hour to see everything. You'll need more time than that. My recommendation is that you buy tickets online, and go early so you've got plenty of time to spend there. There's a lot to see. I guess I kind of foolishly thought that one might be able to actually go inside the Grand Palace to see certain parts of it. But that is not happening. But definitely worth seeing, quite spectacular. Have fun!

If there is only one place in Bangkok that you absolutely must visit, it is the stunning Grand Palace, which is made up of numerous buildings, halls, pavilions set around open lawns, gardens and courtyards. Its asymmetry and eclectic styles are due to its organic development, with additions and rebuilding being made by successive reigning kings over 200 years of history.

A must-see in Bangkok. Beautiful architecture and history. The Emerald Buddha temple is especially impressive, although you can’t take photos inside. Recommend booking a tour, as otherwise there aren’t many info signs and you won’t learn / understand much of the context. Note that if you visit during the day in hot weather, there isn’t much shade at all inside the palace. Also make note of public holidays, we visited near the Queen Mother’s Birthday and it was absolutely packed.

Please visit it. It may be 500 baht but it’ll allow you to have access to not just the grand palace but also the museums as well as a masked show and the entry fee can be paid using card so it’s a plus point. Will need to wear long pants and t shirt when visiting there. You will be able to rent umbrellas if the weather is too hot for you but you’ll need to pay in cash. The museums in there were great as it shows the history of the queen and the grand palace. The place is quite educational and the architecture there is amazing. Good to visit it at least once in a life time. A bit difficult to access if you’re taking public transport as you’ll need to walk for quite a bit of a distance. Honestly, I feel that it isn’t necessary to have a guide or an audio guide with you when you’re visiting there as there will be a map given so you can follow it as a guide. There will also be military personnel and the bands marching around which is an eye opening if you’ve not been exposed to the military. All in all, it is a good place to visit once in a lifetime

Seeing the buildings and temples shimmer in the sun is an awesome sight to see. The grounds are huge and there is so much to see. If you are going, make sure to be hydrated, and plan on sweating. Once inside the temples, you will get a great look at some amazing sights. Lots of tourists and signs that say be weary of pick pockets. I had no problems, but on a crowded day, there is lots of opportunity for a pick pocket.

NOTE: Since the weather is very hot and humid in Bangkok, you will wear shorts but don't forget that you are not allowed to visit Grand Palace with shorts, you need to wear long pants and if you didn't bring anything there are shops just cross the road, you can buy pants for very cheap like 100-200 baht. The Grand Palace is a sprawling complex of temples and palaces built for the Kings of Thailand. Rama X and his family use it for coronations, state visits, and ceremonies. Visiting costs 500 baht and entails visiting the grounds and some of the temples, though not all are open to the public. Highlights include the Emerald Buddha hall, which holds a jade image of the Buddha, and the world's longest mural painting of the Ramayana. Surrounding temples are in a variety of Thai and eclectic styles. It's about 90 minutes to see the whole complex, and it can be very hot and exposed. It is worth doing, however.

The most famous attraction in Bangkok. Something you have to see, however in my opinion it is just very nice and beautiful place with hundreds of people what means there is a very rare chance to do nice photo without crowd. Ticket allows you to visit few places in this area (The Grand Palace, Temple of Emerald Buddha, Queen Sirikit Museum of Textile, etc.) and I truly recommend to visit everything what is possible. We bought tickets in advance, however you can quickly buy tickets directly before the entrance, because there are no queues.

It is a highly considered and sacred site for Thai people as well as the ancient residence of the King. Long trousers or covering the knees are required. Pictures are prohibited in the Emerald Buddha temple. No light top.

The view of the palace buildings in Thailand style architecture, all ornamented colorfully, right in the entrance, is just stunning and eye catching. People just kept taking pictures around, trying to find the best angle to catch the impressive view of the palaces, statues, columns and the towers. The place was very crowded with many tour groups, each one with its own guide, all of them shouting quite loudly, to explain the characteristics of the buildings to their group. The entrance fee is 500 baht. When going back to the hotel, taxis around this place were asking abusive fixed price for the ride, much more expensive than when arrived there. It is better to take a bus, in a bus stop near to the exit.

Wow, what a stunning location! Despite a decent-sized line for tickets, the wait wasn't too long, and the queue moved briskly into the Palace grounds. Heads up on the dress code! It's strictly enforced, but vendors outside sell appropriate cover-ups, although at a steeper price. So, come prepared or be ready to pay extra. Beware the heat! With limited air circulation and scarce shade, things can get toasty inside. On a hot, sunny day, bringing water is a must.

Beautiful!!!! Want to go there again next trip. Not allowed to wear, sleeveless shirts, tank tops, crop tops, short pants),tight pants, bike pants, mini skirts. Just wear shirt with sleeves with loose long pants. Maybe you can use socks because the floor is very hot!! Better you arrive early morning like 8.30 because the weather much better in morning and you have many time to cover every part of there.

No waiting to get inside, as simply no tourists. Now huge construction work going on outside the premises. Underground walking zones etc. Will be nice and safer for pedestrians once finished. Only negative point is the huge admission fee for non-thai bht 500,00!! I did notice that other Asians (China, Singapore etc.) did not pay anything. Bad luck for us Caucasians !!!

What better way to start seeing Bangkok beginning from the Grand Palace, a complex of buildings, which has been the residence of the Kings of Siam. The palace is an architectural marvel with intricate carvings and ingrained glass mosaics, is something that spells royal grandeur in a completely different perspective. The palace also houses the Temple of Emerald Buddha or Wat Phra Kaew, which is an absolute delight to watch. The Buddha is usually decorated in intricate pure gold, but in the cooler months he is completely covered and clothed in gold. The gardens, the topiary everything in this palace is just beautiful and takes you to experience a level of grandeur that might have seen portrayed in Anna and the King. Keeping away all the controversy and the not so appropriate portrayal of the, then Kingdom of Siam, the Grand Palace makes you believe an era that had gone by with such rich culture and heritage of the kingdom of Siam. For someone who appreciates art and architecture the Grand Palace is wonderful way to spend a whole day, maybe more than a day, exploring the intricate work and the meticulous detail that had gone to creating this masterpiece that you still can't believe is a reality that is maintained and restored to perfection. While I have tried to capture the marvel through my lens, there is nothing equivalent to experiencing the place yourself, so make sure you include The Grand Palace as a very essential part of your itinerary and reserve at least a day. Hiring a guide is a good idea if you are interested to know the interesting stories behind the partial sections that are open to public in this working palace with several royal office still functioning inside the complex. We also loved the beautifully detailed wall paintings which adorned the courtyard. We lost track of time, and realized that we almost missed lunch, and got further delayed with a sudden heavy rain that quickly stopped as quickly it had started. We were off to a nearby market outside a boat station and ordered some super delicious Thai food. Some of us were vegetarians and throughout the trip we realized that the Thai’s were extremely comfortable with the Average Indian Tourist & are very accommodative & helpful towards the specific Indian vegetarian sentiment of no meat, no egg, no fish sauce, no shrimp paste, and no meat stock. We headed back to the room, freshened up and reported on time for the River Cruise in the Royal Chaophraya Princess.

This is a nice place to visit and tour. It is well maintained and can get very busy. We went early in the morning when it just opened and there were far fewer people than just an hour later. It's a good idea to read up on it in the guide books before going so you're aware of the rules and customs (i.e. wear socks, no shorts, no photos/videos in several areas/buildings) and have a game plan vs. just wandering, it's easy to miss out on some of the features.

Must visit if in Bangkok. Grand is an understatement but it quite hot so bring an umbrella, hats and portable electric handheld fans. Watch out for the tourist trap tuk tuks around the grand place. Don't believe anything they say and don't get in one. The grand place never closes for any holiday. There is no special other place open just for today.

However it is so big that you might be lost inside, especially during holiday season and many tourists come from all over the world. Enjoyed my time here as many spots that we can explore. The holy Grand Palace temple also known as Temple of the Emerald Buddha aka Temple of the Jade Buddha in elegant Thai style of architecture and contains some precious remnants of the Buddha, generally hair, bones or teeth, and is zealously guarded at the entrance by sentinel demonic figures of Chinese origin that stand on either side of it

(Translated by Google) The main tourist destination in Bangkok is the Grand Royal Palace, where we headed in the early morning in an attempt to avoid the crowds of Chinese tourists. As we approached the temple, we noticed the sparkling spiers of the palace and small fragments of visible elements were impressive. Having defended a small queue for tickets, we went to the territory of the complex. And only there we were notified that it was no longer possible to wear shorts. There was nowhere to go, there was no way to go out of the territory, and I had to buy pants and hoodies at exorbitant prices. After passing the gates of the palace, we were blinded by the brilliant decorations of the temples. Everything that was possible was faced with gold and glazed mosaics. It was evident with what care the smallest details were processed. There are several temples on the territory of the complex, some of them are completely covered with gold. The most important is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The roof of the structure is decorated with polished orange and green tiles, the pillars are inlaid with mosaics, and the pediments are made of marble. The Emerald Buddha is a dark green statue, about 66 cm high, carved from solid stone, and is one of the most enlightened relics. All the splendor of the complex is difficult to describe in words, it is better to see it live. The temples are followed by the residence of the king, which, unfortunately, is not allowed. Before her is a green garden with quaint, perfectly trimmed trees. The overall impression is a little blurred by the loud and shameless crowds of Chinese. Because of their clamor, it was difficult to relax and get aesthetic pleasure in a calm atmosphere, so we moved around the Palace quickly enough. It makes no sense to rush to the complex early in the morning; on the contrary, it is better to arrive in the afternoon.

There is so much gold here, but it's absolutely amazing and worth braving the crowds. My biggest tip is to get here early; like maybe 10 minutes before the gates open so you can beat the crowds of tour buses. Ladies, make sure you're wearing a top with sleeves. You won't be allowed to enter with only a shawl on top of a sleeveless top. If you show up with a sleeveless top (and a shawl), they'll make you buy a souvenir t-shirt for $20 USD. Other than that, the crowds are absolutely massive, they don't really regulate how many people go in and out, so watch your belongings closely. Note: Visited prior to COVID, so things may be different now.

(Translated by Google) The King's Palace (Thai: พระบรม มหาราช วัง, Phra Borom Maha Ratcha Wang) is a complex of palace buildings in Bangkok, Thailand. This palace served as the official residence of the Kings of Thailand from the 18th century onwards. The palace was built in 1782, during the reign of King Rama I, when he moved the royal capital across the river from Thonburi to Bangkok. The palace has been expanded several times and additional buildings have been built over time. Even though he still has the title of the King's Palace, the current King of Thailand, King Bhumibol Adulyadej does not live in this palace, he lives in the Chitralada Palace. When Buddhist King Yodfa Chulaloke (Rama I) decided to move the Siamese capital from Thonburi in western Bangkok to the eastern bank of the Chao Phraya river, he wanted a grand and majestic palace as the king's residence as well as the seat of government. However, the area chosen by the king at that time was inhabited by Chinese merchants, so the king immediately ordered the clearing of the land and moved the Chinese traders to the Yaowarat area. The construction of the golden tower (the golden tower) began on April 6, 1782. At first the palace consisted of only a few wooden buildings protected by a high fort fence on all four sides. This fort is 1,500 meters long with a closed area of 218,400 square meters. Immediately the king ordered the construction of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew), as a private temple of the royal family as well as a royal temple. After the palace was completed, the king held a coronation ceremony in 1785. The design of the King's Palace meticulously followed the pattern of the palace at Ayutthaya. The plan of the palace complex is rectangular with the west side facing the river, while the royal temple is located on the east side. All buildings face north. The palace itself is divided into three parts: the outer area, the central area, and the inner area. This palace was used as the center of Rattanakosin's government and royal palace from the beginning of the Chakri era to the reign of King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) who preferred to live in the Dusit palace, but still made the King's Palace the main palace and center of government. This custom was followed by his sons (Rama VI and Rama VII) who preferred to live in their own palaces. King Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII) moved into this palace completely upon his return from abroad in 1945. However, since his mysterious death in one of the buildings in this palace, his successor and younger brother, Raja Bhumibol Adulyadej (Rama IX), decided to move to Chitralada Palace. Although now it is no longer inhabited by the king, every year the palace is still used as a place to hold royal ceremonies and rituals. The ceremonies that were held in this palace, among others; coronations, funerals, weddings, and royal banquets. Within the palace complex there are also government offices, such as the Office of the Private Secretary of the King and the Royal Institute of Thailand.

An historic Thai royal palace in Bangkok that houses the revered Emerald Buddha. The Grand Palace in Bangkok is a complex of more than a hundred buildings. It was founded in 1782, when the first king of Thailand’s reigning Chakri dynasty, Rama I, established his capital on the east side of the Chao Phraya River. A royal residence, an administrative center, and a site to hold ceremonies, the new palace became a “city within a city,” teeming with thousands of officials, soldiers, servants, and concubines. Built over 200 years, the palace’s state apartments, halls, and temples exhibit an eclectic mix of traditional Thai architecture and later foreign-influenced styles. Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Among the many brightly colored, ornate palace buildings, the most famous is Wat Phra Kaew, also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Thailand’s most sacred temple, it is named for the small green statue it houses, revered as the protector of the country’s safety and prosperity. The Grand Palace was occupied until 1932, by which time the royal family and government offices had dispersed to other locations. It is now chiefly a tourist attraction.

Beautiful temple. This is the only temple that won’t accept a shawl to cover the shoulder tho. I suggest going to one of the local markets and buying a cute long one for 200 baht (markets just outside of Siam centre will be cheaper and better quality then MBK because that’s mainly a tourist area. Where all the locals ship outside of Siam paragon mall) also there are shops around the big roundabout that sell really cute tops for 100 baht and cute high wasted jeans for 200 baht ! The entry fee is higher than others so that’s why I only gave it a 4 star rather than 5.

Absolutely stunning. A must-see for any tourist/expat in Bangkok. There is a price difference between foreigners and Thai, but that shouldn't stop you from visiting. Remember to dress appropriately. You might see the change of the guard at the end of your visit, near the exit.

This extremely impressive Royal Grand Palace is definitely one of the most important tourist attractions in Bangkok and I can warmly recommend you to pay a visit. The entrance fee of THB 500 per person must be paid 24 hours in advance and please pay close attention to the rather strict dress codes in order to avoid having to buy clothes at the entrance, especially for women. I can recommend to bring plenty of water and join the free guided tours that occurs 2 times a day, 09:00 and 14:00 now during the pandemic.

Beautiful! We met a tour guide outside and he gave us an extensive and educational tour around the Royal Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha. Stunning architecture and history. Well worth the visit!

  • 4/5 Timo S. 2 years ago on Google
Its a beautiful palace with a lot of beautiful historical buildings. However since this is a palace I was expected to learn about how the royals lived but this doesn’t show that. All you see is exteriors and or empty buildings (apart from the temples). The entrance fee for foreigners is absurdly high, 500 baht. Whereas the thai pay 0 baht. I would say its at least 200 baht too much. Its still worth the visit though. Make use you are wearing knee covered pants/skirts otherwise you are not aloud in. If you dont have them there are plenty of shops/street vendors willing to sell. Dont pay more than 150 baht (you can get one between 100-150 baht). Also dont be bothered talking to the tuktuk drivers and vendors if you dont need anything. They are very annoying and pushy, just ignore them.

A must visit place while you are visiting Thailand. Beautiful architecture and a lots of history of the Kingdom of Thailand can be explored here. It is normally packed before COVID. Right now is the best time to visit and be able to enjoy the surroundings.

  • 5/5 E “EnnyD” D. 2 years ago on Google
So much to see, intricate and beautiful craftsmanship. 500baht per person for foreigners, free for local Thais. Remember to cover your shoulders (females), and no shorts even for males. The place needs a bit more greeneries shading for resting as it can be quite hot, even in January; but there are small pavilions you can sit down in/on too. There's only one cafe on site towards the exit.

  • 4/5 Andrew W. 2 years ago on Google
Well worth a visit if you're in Bangkok (or Krungtep Maha Nakorn as we're supposed to call it now), previously the official Royal residence. You can take a guided tour or just wander around. Photogenic buildings, a large, sprawling complex. The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is on site, though you can't get close to it or take photos from inside, though a zoom lens through the open door seemed OK. Combine a trip here with a visit to the Temple of the Reclining Buddha, a 10 minute walk or a short, pricey tuktuk tide away, and Wat Arun over the river - 6 baht for the ferry each way. Normally you need to book tickets online at least 24 hours before you visit, however thanks to Covid-19 there were no crowds or queues, we just went straight in to the ticket office. Naturally free for Thais and 500 baht for foreigners, personally I don't have an issue with dual pricing as it encourages Thais, many of whom are hard up, to visit their national heritage and the entry fees we pay are a lot less than you pay in Western countries for something similar. Loses a star as the tourist police seem to do very little about the numerous scammers outside who will tell you that the Palace is closed for a few hours for a ceremony and invite you to take a tuktuk ride to other sites, who then take you to tailors, jewellery stores etc where they get a commission of course! Politely decline and walk round to the entrance yourself. If I'd gone when it was as busy as usual I'd probably deduct another star, but it's actually really pleasant now.

  • 4/5 Aadhithya S. 1 year ago on Google
Great architecture and ambience is how I would describe the palace. A definite visit if you're touring Bangkok. The buildings and the temples inside are marvellous to look at and there's a lot of history to it. Price - $500 baht for foreigners Based on my personal experience, look out for Tuk -tuk drivers telling lies to get you to visit the nearby market. It's always better to contact the palace directly if you have any queries with regards to timings/services.

  • 5/5 Aleksandra K. 1 year ago on Google
The palace is magnificent! Very beautiful, the attention to detail is amazing. An absolute must to visit if you're in Bangkok. Beware of scammers on the way there - it's the second time I was visiting the palace on this trip, and again there was a guy telling me it was closed at the moment, would open in two hours, suggesting I went to see other places in the meantime (with him as a tour guide that I'd need to pay for I assume). I went straight to the palace, and it was open.

  • 4/5 Anindita D. 1 year ago on Google
The most gorgeous palace in Bangkok. Nothing more to say about architecture. Beautiful and mind blowing. A palace that came right out of the mythological books. However, most of the palace was closed for entrance. I'm not sure if Indians would enjoy it as much since we are quite used to see similar kind of religious architectures. Nevertheless, it's a must visit in Bangkok if you enjoy mythology.

  • 5/5 Vinoth Kumar C. 1 year ago on Google
One of the most magnificent things that you can ever see in your life. Non Thai nationals are charged 500 THB which is well worth it. Be aware of the dress code, you are not allowed to visit with sleeveless shirts or half pants. There is a sense of serenity and grandeur at this place. Do not miss out if you're in Bangkok.

  • 5/5 Karen Lapniten-Bosaing (. 1 year ago on Google
Amazing!!! The entire place is breathtaking which explains why it is a must-see spot in Bangkok. Visiting temples require you to wear decent clothes so no tattered jeans, no short pants, no tight pants and all. Or else, you'll have to buy a wraparound that costs 150 baht! (too pricey!!!)

  • 5/5 Christa L. 1 year ago on Google
We went around 9:30am on a Monday and it was already busy with a lot of tour groups. Opening hour is 8:30 am and the entrance is 500 baht per person. Like most temples, there is a strict dress code implemented here, no shoulders or short skirts/ shorts exposing knees allowed, even for men. A lot of people had to buy pants from across the road to cover up starting from 100 baht. It is mostly outdoors so bring a fan, an umbrella and water to make sure you stay cool :) it is worth the 500 baht as the temple and the palace is extremely beautiful despite of ongoing renovations.

  • 5/5 ci s. 1 year ago on Google
The architecture here is stunning. I am glad that I finally made it to be here. When being here, feel lots of stories to be told. The ticket for each foreigner is 500 Baht, while for the locals free. Make sure the dress code and get enough water with u. Very hot in the day time; a lot of walks is needed.

  • 5/5 Brad 11 months ago on Google
Probably the most stunning palace in Thailand. Incredibly impressive to look at but remember to be respectful (take shoes off where necessary etc.). Recommend going in the morning at 8:30 when it’s not too hot and there aren’t too many people. Make sure to be dressed accordingly as there is a strict dress code, some people were denied entry (there is a stand where you can buy clothes in front of the entrance just in case). Tickets can be bought online (24h before visit) or at the entrance (recommend). Entry price is 500 baht/person which is quite expensive but definitely worth it as it includes the beautiful palace, museum and a show (worth going to with their shuttles).

  • 4/5 Tiktiktok G. 10 months ago on Google
If you come to Bangkok, the grand palace is a must visit spot and definitely worth a visit. There are 2 areas, the temple and the palace. Remember if you exit the temple and enter the palace area you can’t walk back. There are some rules so make sure you know all of them and won’t do things that are not allowed when you visit here. You can buy ticket at the entrance it won’t take too long and they also take credit card. Recommend to come here by ferry or taxi.

  • 5/5 Chas S. 9 months ago on Google
I do not think that there is almost any place with more man-made beauty than the Grand Palace. In the bright sun, it shines so bright and just brings joy. There are so many masterpieces in art, architecture, sculpture, etc. I spent a few hours of joy walking around the whole area.

  • 5/5 Marek B. 8 months ago on Google
Really impressive sight. A must see on any itinerary of Bangkok. The only downside was that the actual residential buildings are closed to the public. But the Palace grounds and religious buildings are open and well worth the visit. Tickets can be purchased at the gate, and there was only a short queue when we went. Appropriate atire is required.

  • 5/5 Viviana L. 8 months ago on Google
It is 500 bath at the entrance but it is all worthy. The map inside is not very clear so I definitely recommend getting a guide or take an audio book. It is very big and there is a lot to go through. You can definitely spend couple if hours there. The emerald Buddha is very small, 66cm and you can't take pics inside.

  • 5/5 Julia K. 8 months ago on Google
This place is breathtaking and splendid. I haven’t seen a he palace like this before! It was a bit crowded but with a bit of patience, you can get all the pics and see all the places at your own pace. Worth the entry! They also offer free guided tours in English throughout the day. The last one is at 2pm. You can also pick up a free brochure which includes map and descriptions of most of the main points of interest.

The Grand Palace in Bangkok is an awe-inspiring cultural landmark that embodies the rich history and artistic brilliance of Thailand. Its intricate architecture, adorned with ornate details and shimmering golden accents, creates a captivating visual spectacle. The temple complex, particularly Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, is a sacred site of immense significance for locals and tourists alike. The exquisitely crafted statues, murals, and religious artifacts within the palace grounds provide a deep insight into Thai spirituality and craftsmanship. However, due to its popularity, the Grand Palace can get quite crowded, impacting the overall experience. Make sure to dress appropriately (cover knees and shoulders) as it's a place of worship. Despite the crowds, the Grand Palace is undeniably a must-visit destination, offering an enchanting journey into Thailand's cultural heritage.

Fabulous - finally visited on my third trip to Bangkok and really glad I went. Expensive at 500bht but worth it. I would suggest going early in the morning as it is relentlessly sunny and hot, although the museums etc are air conditioned if you need some respite. Very busy but I still managed to see all the sights.

  • 4/5 Wai Qian T. 7 months ago on Google
Great place to visit. A lot of cultural significance, past residence of past kings. It has a lot of history for Thailand. Worth a visit but foreigners have to pay to enter. The most important emerald/jade Buddha is placed in one of the temples, and the architecture was great. No shoes entering the temple, have to wear long pants and no sleeveless.

  • 5/5 Iqbal H. 7 months ago on Google
Wonderful part of Thai history and an architectural marvel. The Grand Palace is next to the temple housing the Emerald Buddha-a pilgrimage destination for devout Buddhists. The buildings of the Grand Palace are used by the monarch only for ceremonial occasions as the Thai king's current residence is at another location. Most of the architecture in the entire complex-both temple and palace-is traditional Bangkok style that is just outstanding and unique. Truly an eye opener. There is an entrance fee into the complex (the exact amount of which I don't remember as our tour guide paid on our behalf) and a dress code. One must dress appropriately in attire that is sober without it being formal and certainly not in the beach-type outfits I see a lot of Western tourists in. When entering the temple of the Emerald Buddha one must take off one's shoes. A must see for anyone visiting Bangkok and wanting some insights into Thailand's history and culture.

  • 5/5 SACHIN S. 7 months ago on Google
This place is super huge. A lot of structures to witness. It will take a minimum of 2-3hrs to see the entire structure. The ticket rates are 500Baht. Just note that the ticket also includes some art shows, most people can miss out on this as they don't notice that. The place doesn't allow sleeveless or any dress lower than the knee for women. The royal police are strict about this. Don't use a shawl to cover the shoulders, this won't work. Or you can purchase or rent dress covering shoulders from any shop nearby.

  • 4/5 moe h. 7 months ago on Google
A must see place in Bangkok, loved all the details. Everything were so regal. A bit very crowded thou and very warm, bring some water with you. Also stay updated on what to wear before you go. One of the most beautiful places to visit when in Thailand. No problem encountered during our entry, and your 500 Baht entrance includes the entrance for the place, a museum ticket inside, and a theater show that showcases the history of Thailand's kingdom (tram ride free and you can ride to go back).

  • 4/5 Виктория . 7 months ago on Google
The temple is beautiful, but not large in area. The entrance ticket costs 500 baht. But we were lucky that the ticket price also included a trip to the theater and an entrance ticket to the art museum. When in Bangkok you should definitely visit it.

  • 5/5 Ronnie L. 6 months ago on Google
The grand palace comprises of 3 sections and each has architecture worth viewing. There are also exhibitions which are included in the price. Just happen to catch the changing of the guards at the exit. Just before noon iirc. At the exit, opposite there are open air buses (free) bringing you to the dance theatre which is also inclusive of the price. First bus is at 12 noon, and 12.30, if you intend to watch the 1pm performance. You can exit the grounds early, go for lunch before catching the bus.

When in Bangkok, The Grand Palace simply cannot be missed. It is rather expensive to visit, but you'll get to see the true heritage of Thailand. The temples are really beautiful and it is just amazing to walk around here. Make sure that you are dressed appropriate for temple standards, or they will not let you in.

  • 5/5 Ken “Oliver” K. 6 months ago on Google
The buildings are covered in intricate carvings and mosaics, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped. The temple complex is a testament to the skill and craftsmanship of the Thai people. I highly recommend visiting the Temple of the Emerald Buddha to experience its beauty and spiritual significance.

Very very busy attraction and is hard when it is so hot out due to the fact that you need to be wearing clothes that cover you up. I wore a sarong over my shoulders and the first group of security said it was fine and once I had reached the second group they said it was not allowed so I had to go and buy a cardigan.

  • 3/5 Sky 6 months ago on Google
Honestly, besides seeing the emerald buddha there is nothing else to see there. It's not worth the ticket price. For the same money you could visit so many other places in Bangkok and have 1-2 full days of fun instead spending the half an hour here. Also this is one of not many places where there are no covers to borrow if what you're wearing is not appropriate.

  • 5/5 Gerald S. 6 months ago on Google
Don't get fooled into booking this in advance. Travel agents want to charge you $85 or more per person. Purchase your tickets at the site for $15 dollars per person. If you only go to one place in Bangkok, this is it! So beautiful!

  • 4/5 Ej C. 5 months ago on Google
This is a huge place. There are lots of highly decorated buildings. There are also statues in all areas. The museum is towards the end as you walk through. The ticket comes with an off-site play, which does bot happen on Saturdays. The shuttle for this is right at the exit.

You must visit the Grand Palace when you go to Thailand! It's a beautiful place to see and learn about. The intricacies on each building are so impressive. It's wonderful to learn about the customs and culture in the country. Make sure you cover your shoulders and knees when visiting.

Good experience here. It is quite a large area to cover. Probably 2 to 3 hours to cover all of it. Advisable to wear comfortable shoes. You are required to cover your shoulders and wear long pants. It can also get very hot so a cap or umbrella is very helpful.

It was a bit crowded on the day I attended, but that is to be expected at mid-day. Beautiful grounds, featuring artful topiary, breathtaking architecture, and the most epic tapestry that I have ever seen. It's definitely worth a visit, even if you're only in Bangkok for a couple of days.

Outstanding place with a lot of interesting architecture inside. Be careful with the outfit, trousers and t-shirt for man, tshirts and at least the skirt below the knee is a must have. If you are not having a proper clothes you can buy it in the shop before the entrance. Crowded place, better to start visiting while morning.

I visited the Grand Palace in Bangkok in February and was mesmerized by its vibrant beauty and rich history. The intricate architecture, golden spires, and ornate details of the buildings were truly breathtaking. Exploring the palace grounds, especially the Emerald Buddha Temple, was a spiritual experience filled with tranquility and serenity. However, be prepared for the crowds as it is a popular tourist attraction. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience that I highly recommend to anyone visiting Bangkok.

I'm actually rating it 4.5 stars. I think it's a very beautiful and exquisite place to visit, but the place was too crowded when we visited around 1 PM. Best to visit it early in the morning when it opens at 8:30. The admission is 500 baht but it is truly a remarkable place to visit. Nothing like it in the Philippines!

The only way to really understand this place is to visit. The scale of the place reminds me of Tienamen Square and the Imperial Palace nearby in Beijing. The opulence of the buildings within is legendary, but above all, The Temple of the Emerald Buddha is the most compelling and most memorable of all the temples contained within the compound.

Truly a grand palace! The area is huge. It was a hot and crowded day when we came. I tell you, it’s tiring so you need to keep yourself hydrated. There’s a coffee shop inside if you’re hungry or want to rest for a while. Overall, this is a must see in Bangkok.👌 Note: The entrance fee is 500 baht. There’s a strict policy for dress code. Shorts and sleeveless are not allowed.

Great architecture building with rich in history. The place is Huge, so do take your time. Do note that there is dress code entering grand palace and there is entrance fare of 500B for foreigners. Best to go during early morning to avoid crowds and afternoon sun. As the place is lacking of shade, especially when there is a huge crowd entering.
