This was one of the best of my more recent dining experiences. Came here on a weekday dinner, and it was buzzing with a lovely vibe. The dishes are absolutely divine, with such a nice delicate mix of flavours in every dish, each better than the last. Definitely recommend the Balagan menu, so you get to try a lot of different dishes. And there’s a lot of food! The cocktails are creative with some unusually lovely creations. There is also a good selection of wines by the glass. The service is superb, waiters are friendly and keen to explain the dishes. The restaurant decor is modern, and it’s a nice open space with high ceilings making it a nice vibe. Would return again and again, and can’t wait to do so.

A place to try Middle Eastern cuisine. They have good food, good atmosphere and staff (just good, not more that that) Food: we tried various starters like hummus, babaganoush, cauliflower and ceviche. Ceviche was mediocre and the rest was ok. What we really liked were vegetarian kebabs (main dish): they were juicy, properly spiced and wrapped in the grilled pitas: I can certainly recommend it! Atmosphere: the place looks like a fancy European restaurant. What is nice, but I was missing Eastern-European vibe (like wall decorations, pillows etc.) I think they would only benefit from it. Overall, I can recommend the place.

Disappointed, from almost all aspects. The service was chaotic, servers had nice attitude but distracted, forgetful and just not listening to our questions on the menu and dishes. Drinks, my ice tea from the bar came before a red wine that the server poured from a bottle near a station by our table. Not all our drinks were brought, even if we asked multiple times they forgot but they were on the bill, so had to have them correct it. The food, not bad, but not anything special nor unique... I dont get the hype... The prices (for the quality and amounts) were quite high. We had the vegetarian menu, we wanted to try many dishes. Unfortunately almost every dish was either hummus based, with lots tahini or yogurt (labneh was more yogurt consistency than labneh), or mushy (maybe fried) eggplant. No variations in consistencies of the dishes and similar spices on everything. I was really looking forward to the mushroom dish but again, it was mostly hummus. The coconut dessert was not very tasty. So for several plates of hummus and some vegetables and a few small salads.. (In all vegetarian dishes most ingredients are cheap), I could spend less than 50 euro per person (w only 1 glass wine for 1 person) and be more satisfied. The place is nice, but all the tables are really close to eachother, it is super loud and it felt like they were trying to go for quantity not quality. The sourdough bread was really good. Sad but true...

We enjoyed the food, the service was very good. We had the big menu and between each dish they asked us if we were ready for the next. For the menus they have options for people with allergies, intolerances or vegan/vegetarians. Overall, a nice place to eat. I do think that, for the price, they could make the experience more special (both setting and food). I have visited other middle eastern places in the city that are cozier and cheaper and the food quality was similar.

AS A VEGAN this is 3.5 restaurant food wise, this is only relevant to the vegan dishes. We were there Celebrating a birthday dinner- in terms of the atmosphere and the service it was 10/10, the people were very very nice, the restaurant looked very good and just in general it felt great to sit there and get to enjoy our dinner there. But in terms of the food, there is room for improvement. We ordered the balagan menu for 3 which comes with starters mains and deserts. The starters were awesome, there was a good variety of different dishes and they all tasted good with bread and without. The cauliflower was great and both salads were tasty. We were all happy about it, as vegans sometimes it feels that the vegan options are either Just “without cheese” dishes or letdowns but here it felt very thoughtful. The same cannot be said about the mains. I would say that the mains were a disappoint for two big reasons and one small one: 1. Repetition of ingredients, we already had hummus in first so having it as a main with mushrooms and veggies as main was not exciting, if it had vegan meat it might have been more interesting, but the mushrooms were not cooked good and in general it lacked taste. and those same mushrooms and veggies came in another main, the lahuh dish could’ve been nice if the hummus dish did not have the same ingredients, but it felt like just the base changed and a bit of spicy sauce was added. 2. No diversity in tastes, most of the mains felt sweet, the hummus was pretty sweet, and the grilled vegetables too, the rice dish included sweet ingredients and the root vegetable with pea sauce was also sweet. I would’ve wanted some radically different main to switch things up a bit, maybe a bit sour? Salty? It just felt blend all together. 3. I respect an approach of not using any substitute and to rely only on vegetables to achieve a vegan meal, but it requires to either have classic and very well done dishes or inventive dishes, and both were not there, and so if there was at least one meat substitute dish as part of the meal it could’ve made a big difference, especially when the restaurant almost always smells with good smells of fish or meat it feels that you are left out. I feel like with a bit of tweaking to the vegan offering this could be a great place to celebrate special occasions or just have a once in a while dinner, but as of currently I’m not sure if I can truly recommend it to vegan friends

Great food and service. I got the Mexican Bird cocktail which was delicious. The starter bread and pulpo salad were very good. The main dishes, Hayas fish and lamb were well put together with the sauces and flavor. The sesame ice cream was good but I don't know about the ice cream scoop on top of a pile of sesame seeds.

Food was well presented and delicious, however it was difficult to get recommendations from the waiter on what to eat (whether going for the courses menu or a la carte). Drinks were nice but definitely too cold, definitely a pity since they made me feel sick during the evening.

Not the authentic and healthy middle eastern cuisine I was hoping for. Instead falafel made from corn instead of the healthy chickpeas, liquidy tahini with soya, fried instead of roasted eggplant, sauses instead of the healthy olive oil. Service was not great either. The restaurant supervisor was being difficult when I ordered a well-done steak.

We had lunch in this restaurant. The menu is short but it’s because they cook everything fresh in front of you. Everything was delicious. Very tasty. We loved it and we’ll be back soon !

Trendy and decorated in a modern style, this place was definitely worth the try. The chefs did an amazing job, creating beautifully styled dishes with great taste, perfectly matching the oriental and middle east kitchen and taste that anyone from those places recognizes and appreciates. If you are visiting for the first time, I recommend the Balagan Chef's Menu, you won't be disappointed!

Overall good concept of middle eastern mezze. The portion sizes looked small, but the dishes are filling enough (except if you’re big eater). Down side with take away is that the dishes will be cooled down and with the fresh/raw ingredients you cannot really heat it up at home. The pita and sourdough bread were really nice, the lamb dish was my least favorite because it was too dry. All in all, would like to try again when served fresh in the restaurant.

Outstanding meal. Sublime flavours & range of food. Wonderful service - our waitress was really brilliant! Thank you for a delicious meal & accomodating our complex dietary needs. The sesame ice cream was UNREAL! 😍

One thing I can say is that the food and drinks are amazing! I really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Unfortunately I did experience some things. We ordered the hafla menu and the starters came in great! Only later on when a table next to us was taken and ordered the same thing it became a mess. They were receiving our mains as they just started receiving their starters. We felt like we had to run after our food which wasn’t a nice thing to experience as we had to keep an eye to see if we are receiving everything which we didn’t. The menu also offered fish which we also had to ask about because they were about to offer the desserts. It wasn’t nice to experience as it is very expensive already. They did compensate with a free bottle of water but the experience wasn’t nice. It is very unfortunate.

We had dinner with 6 and chose one of the menu’s which was vegetarian, fish and meat (good to know that there is no Halal option). The restaurant is cozy, modern and it has an open kitchen. Shared dining is the motto and is really a nice concept since you have the option to taste everything! The food was very tasty and was pretty diverse! Really liked the falafel, fresh bread and a vegetarian burger/calzone pizza kind of filled bread which was definitely the best! The main courses consisted of fish (2x), vegetarian and meat options. The deserts were very diverse as well which was very nice since you can have small pieces of everything. Service was amazing!

I probably need to give it another shot at the restaurant, but my deli experience wasn’t great. 13€ for a “Reuben sandwich” that looks like a toasti, not a very friendly service and several of the items were not available. The food did taste good tho.

Really delicious food. We did not go for the set menus but would recommend choosing 3 mezze and 2 mains and desserts to share (this was for 3 people).

We had such a lot of fun at this restaurant last night! What a place! Stunning interiors, cool staff who were super helpful and charming. The food is exciting and interesting, colourful and tasty. Loved my lamb kebab, delicious beetroot salad, splendid carpaccio of beef…. Etc, etc… all really good. Generous platefuls, really well presented. It’s such a cool place, loved it!

Great restaurant. The ambience was amazing, super sleek modern and refreshing. A place you want to go and have a drink and meal at. The food was amazing, only the brisket was a bit dry. Could have used more flavor overall. Fried cauliflower was great as well as the kings mushrooms.

The waiter who attended to us demonstrated exceptional politeness and adept hosting skills. Despite not being overly present, he was prompt in providing drinks when needed. The establishment is fortunate to have someone of his caliber. A solid 10/10 rating. (Young guy with glasses)

We loved the food and service. The acoustics however were sometimes disturbing (voices bouncing from the glass walls) and airco could be improved (our clothes smelled of food the next morning). We will certainly return and recommend the place!

Lost the mojo after covid sadly. Gone are the thick rich humus. Chef must have changed. Now rice with eggplant with sweat sauce on it. 🤔 The kadayif lamb is decent, yet, small portion and served lukewarm. Oh well. Another one bites the dust.

Went there with a big group of friends. The staff was friendly. They actually open doors an hour before their usual time only for us. They also provided us a private space and created a personalized menu for us. Drinks were also good. It's slight expensive but you also get good food and personalized service.

The start was a little rocky, I had reserved a table for 7 over a month ago and mentioned we wanted to have a low table. When we got there we had a high table which fit 6 people rather than 7. This got fixed luckily and with some good will from one of the waiter we got the right table. the food is great, very nice atmosphere. Overall lovely evening

Visited NENI Amsterdam as a group of 4 (2 of 4 were vegetarians). Was originally planning for a 3/5 as a series of events occured (alarm going out for quite some time didn’t help - also staff mentioned that the kitchen would close early since there was a staff party planned (we weren’t informed about it beforehand) - plus a couple of times the dishes took around 20-30mins to arrive in our surprise, since the waiting stuff informed us at the beginning that the dishes are coming generally very fast!). But on second thought I can understand that sometimes these things are bound to happen - so I took this experience out of my rating, concluding to a 4/5. The menu was tasty and there were plenty of vegetarian options, overall nice combinations and indeed got that eastern mediteranean feeling with food. The desserts were amazing though (kudos to chef!) but apart from that, there were no other major surprises (in either a good or bad way). Would visit again with other guests to try out some more dishes. Cheers!

Highly recommended, eapecially if you like trying new flavors and sharing dishes. I've been to Neni 3 times, and it's always a feast to the senses. We always take many small plates and love being surprised by the chef's combination of influences and ingredients from Israel, Morocco, Italy, Turkey, etc etc etc. We love the atmosphere of the place, the service is quite fast and the waiters are very nice.

Had a fulfilling lunch here. The mezze package was super. Enjoying the carrot salad and the oven roasted sweet potato with creme fraiche. For main dishes, the Jerusalem chicken was juicy and Arayes “new meat” aka plant-based meat was really enjoyable and eye opening. Finally, both desserts (ice cream and chicken) had good balance of sweet and refreshing.

Amazing food for reasonable prices. Very nice to share with a group. We just had some entrees (and of course dessert) to share and it was plenty and soooo good!

We had a fabulous meal. We had a party of 10 and it was suggested by our waitress (can you still say that?) that we should go for the set menu which we did. The variety of dishes and flavours served were great and everyone very much enjoyed the food. The service was excellent, couldn't fault it!

Incredible taste and ambient. Take the chefs menu! Everything is served in the middle of the table to share, and there's a lot if it. A great variety of both vegan and meaty dishes, seasoned to perfection. A glutenfree option for my girlfriend was also instantly available. Greatest recommendation!

(05-2022) What a nice place, big, cosy and of course good food. Loved the open kitchen and opposite bar. Maybe a bit close to other guests (table setting) but the food is excellent. The start of with 'mezze' the ultimate way to enjoy this kitchen. Quality of ingredients is high. Staff is good maybe a bit more attending on drinks. Loved the Mocktails. One to visit again.

What a lovely middle eastern themed meal. Delicious drinks and wine list. We order three appetizers and three mains all were delicious. The most surprising dish as the dessert. As many restaurants fall flat on the delivery of their desserts Neni did not. Friendly and attentive service.

Hands down the best mediterranean food i have had in Amsterdam. Great ambience and budget friendly too. We went there for our anniversary lunch. I would advise to book a table in advance as they remain fully occupied and it's almost impossible to find a place if you just walk in. Its situated adjacent to the Olympic stadium and has great connectivity with tram and bus right opposite the restaurant.

We had the brunch menu. We got a good selection of dishes between 4 of us. Pretty much everything was very tasty and all the mezze were veggie friendly which was a bonus. The portions were quite small considering the price of €38pp. I forgot to take photos of the dessert - we got 4 different ones which we shared. Probably means you get less selection if you go as a couple, which would be a shame since all 4 were delicious. The setting was very nice and suited to the special occasion we were celebrating. Overall it was a good experience.

It was my first visit to Neni. It’s a big restaurant. The front part looked empty but guessing that’s for lunch. The dining area was nice. The two tops are a bit close together (could be spaced out a bit in such a big space). Service was great. He was very helpful and the meal was paced nicely. The Lemonman was a very refreshing drink. Quite tasty. The wine selection, especially by the glass was nice (and fairly priced). The food was good. Some hits and some almost hits. The tomato salad was summer on a plate. Tomato were fresh and flavorful. The roasted red pepper was good, I loved the almonds. The calamari was okay. The salad underneath was fantastic. I didn’t love the batter on the squid. The summer sabich was so good. I loved the tahini. The lamb was good but the potatoes with them were odd. I would definitely go back and try more of the items on the menu.

I doubt you will find a better falafel in your life! And the sauce is incredible. Normally I order in my house or have it in dinner. Great place for drinks also. The decor is trendy. BUT, for lunch… I’m not coming back! Expensive, slow… not worth it!

We went Neni for a weekend brunch. They served a selection of mezzes as starter. Then we chose our main course and there was desert as the finish. All were delicious!! Everyone was friendly. Highly recommended!

Great upscale spot for high quality Israeli / Middle-Eastern food in a fun atmosphere. Neni is a good decision every time. They have great shareable appetizers with familiar dishes, and their main courses always offer classics with a sophisticated twist. Some of the best pita bread you will find in the city! The wine list and cocktails are also extensive and hit the spot. I recommend trying the brunch on weekends for a nice time with a group. The interior design is also a nice touch that adds to the ambience - plenty of space with high-quality materials and modern but cozy interior design. The staff is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We will come back often!

Nice ambiance but staff is hard to get hold off (that is what I think generally what happens in The Netherlands so not specific to Neni), however, I do think it needs a mention as this isn't a run of the mill place. it's upmarket to you would expect a bit more from the service. The staff nevertheless were fantastic once we did get their attention. The food was good for meat eaters. The vegetarian dishes were ok.

  • 4/5 Martine J. 6 months ago on Google
I made an online order. That was very easy to do. My bag with the order was ready at the requested time and the food, especially the sourdough bread is delicious. First time but I will definitely go back and can recommend.

  • 3/5 Elena P. 8 months ago on Google
Considering the hype, the place is a little underwhelming. Service was good when you can get their attention and you really need to ask to get food menu, clean the table from the plates, order desert etc We ordered the set menu (the more expensive one) - starters were great (cauliflower, falafel and sweet potato were lovely), all mains were mediocre (Jerusalem chicken plate was bland, Aubergine not good at all, lamb was decent tho). Desert was way too sweet to enjoy. So overall ok, but I would not be back

  • 5/5 Daniel K. 8 months ago on Google
OMG, can i give this place 6 stars? The food is fabulous. We had the "chaos" menu which started with 7 vegetarian courses followed by 6 meat courses, and every single one off then was flavorful in rich and subtle ways. The drinks were... wow... And then there was dessert! Three entire meal lasted an unhurried 2.5 hours, and if i lived in Amsterdam I'd be a regular here!

  • 4/5 Jeroen de G. 1 year ago on Google
Very very friendly environment! Awesome service and good advice during the meals. We loved the menu and the two complete version of several food. Share and dining is my advice so you can try and taste the eastern Mediterranean kitchen. Lovely ingredients and herbs. Great tasting and do please combine this with a great wine. The staff can advice you about the flavors and several kind of tasting. And do not forget to taste the 3D printed diner! You will not taste a strange item from Epson or HP ;) So please make a reservation and go! You will enjoy this great restaurant which has been established in the former Citroen Garage.

(Translated by Google) We ordered the Balagan box and with the comments we asked for the vegetarian version. When unpacking it turned out to be a chicken dish. One of us eats that too, but I thought this was inattentive. The food was excellent, generous portions and we also had lunch with it the next day. Supplied in attractive, recyclable packaging, the eye is also something. What I really regretted was that there was no description of what you get. It's kind of a surprise menu. Normally the service explains what you get, now we had no idea what was in which container and in which order you could best eat it. Tip: add a note with an explanation or print labels on the packaging. Furthermore, really delicious eaten. Verder echt heerlijk gegeten.

We ordered food boxes for NYE, which was absolutely delicious! All vegetarian, fish, and meat dished were fantastic. The only course that needs improvement in my opinion is the cheesecake. I've eaten many different cheesecakes, but this one had a rather tasteless bottom and the creamcheese wasn't very tasty either. A packaging tip: please use a travel friendly packaging material, instead of paper bags without hand grip. One of the paper boxes was ripped halfway our bike-trip and thus we had to walk home. It now sounds like a negative review, which is not true; two points of improvement but overall outstanding food. Will definitely order again!

A fantastic modern Israeli restaurant. It is a large venue with excellent service. We go to the deli during lunch for a quick hummus, pita and coffee, or we go dinner and order their tasting menu. They also have a good winelist. A hidden gem is the lemon man bar upstairs- serving great cocktails for fair prices.

The food is great, also if you don't fancy eating animals. Good wine selection, good ambiance and very welcoming staff.

Absolutely delicious food! Fresh ingredients and surprising flavours. Amazing cocktails and a beautiful restaurant too. The best Eastern Mediterranean/middle eastern dining experience in Amsterdam by far!

Fantastic restaurant and the food was amazing. We really enjoyed our dinner. Staff was extremely friendly. I was a little annoyed that I needed to pay a 30 Euro deposit for the online reservation but totally forgot all about that when I entered the restaurant full of people and many waiting. Great Amsterdam experience

Stupendously good food and vibe at this spot. The dishes are a class act in composition (of ingredients), technique (cooking) and creativity. The pulled lamb transports you to an ancient Tel-Aviv square, the service is top notch. Neni is by no means well-priced, but it feels well worth the money. I return to this restaurant often when I want to celebrate the small joys of life.

(Translated by Google) Had hoped for slightly more pronounced flavors. Staff was good and when we were in a not so chill place due to the corona measures they also helped to relocate us (Original) Had gehoopt op iets meer uitgesproken smaken. Personeel was goed en toen wij door de corona maatregelen op een niet zo chille plek zaten hebben ze ook geholpen om ons te herplaatsen

(Translated by Google) Delicious eaten! Support your locals, taken and eaten at home. It was a joy to see and certainly to eat. Everything is well flavored, but really good! We opted for vegetarian and that was a good choice. It was more than enough. I will drop by sometime I think :-) (Original) Lekker gegeten! Support your locals, meegenomen en thuis opgepeuzeld. Het was een feestje om te zien en ook zeker om te eten. Alles goed op smaak, maar echt goed! We kozen voor vegetarisch en dat was een goeie keuze. Het was meer dan zat. Ik kom nog wel een keertje langs denk ik zomaar :-)

Another vote towards "middle Eastern" food being my favourite in the world... in this case, Israeli food... so creative, interesting, filling and healthy. We ordered the box for 2 without drink ( we had plenty of wine already ). The packaging and portions were fantastic. The corn fallafells were delicious surprise, dipped in the various sauces like humous and smoked aubergine... I am sorry I can not remember what they are actually named. The Jerusalem chicken dish was delectable. The portion did not look immediately massive but we were both full with plenty left over which made for 3 further lunches. So great!

The food was delicious! The only little minus point for me was that no explanation of the dishes. Which is what and a description (like in a menu in a restaurant) would have been nice. But overall: we had a great dinner!
