Our orders got throttled harder than my internet at home. If I wanted to play waiting simulator, I would have installed it off Steam. The food was subpar, but I was expecting that. What I wasn't expecting was to wait 30 minutes for half my order to be lost multiple times. I think we left having received half of the food we had ordered. Let's also talk about the grill. The flames gathered on one side of the grill and the heat spread very unevenly. Half our meat would be charred while the other half would be raw. It was truly a marvel of science. Service is like any Chinese restaurants. If you know, you know. Overall, never coming here again and you should also never come here :)

The moment we walked in the door the service was incredibly rude. When we walked in to wait for a table, my sister (who speaks Cantonese) overheard the hostess’s talking in a derogatory manner in Cantonese about us. She overheard them comment on our body weight, calling us fat. They also complained to one another that we did not set a reservation (although a reservation is not required). Some other negative points in our experience include: - We had a table of 3 and they made us sit in a 2 person booth (I sat in the middle of the walkway) - They seated a table of 3 that came AFTER us right away, while we had to wait 30 minutes. We were also a table of three. - They kept hitting my seat with their trolleys due to me being in the way - The meat was too thick to cook - They slammed the plates onto our table - The grill rack appeared to not have been replaced or cleaned before we were seated - They broke two plates near our table - The sushi was not fresh (avocado brown) - Forgot to bring us items we had ordered Considering that this restaurant is in the heart of downtown, I expected to have a positive experience. But from the moment we entered the restaurant we did not feel welcome. Before we walked out, they also tried to stop us to try tip them after we paid. In my opinion, a hostess that disrespects their paying customers does NOT deserve my money. Once we explained why we wouldn’t tip they shook their hands in our faces in such a dismissive manner. I do not recommend this place in any capacity.

Amazing Experience!!! I came early because I was super hungry!! The food was amazing and fresh ! My waitress was friendly and took pictures for me . Dinner starts at 5 pm and all you can eat is $38.99 . I didn't order any meat . I just wanted Sushi ! Cones and rolls . I left happy and full !! What a great night in Downtown Vancouver!!!

Contrary to other previous bad reviews, mine is a different one. We were suppose to have a booking at another yakiniku place but it had a fire emergency so we rushed here at Shabusen. Upon arrival, we were seated in 5 minutes I was here with my wife and sons. The food that they made were all very delicious. Service is very quick, and we got what we want as soon as we ordered. So I ended up with a happy heart and left 20% tip. The man who served us was very attentive and friendly. So, my kids loves it, we love it. Therefore, we will be back for more! Very good value too!!! 2 adults 2 kids eat all you can, we spent around $150 including tax.

Although I didn’t have time to try the BBQ, had Sushi instead. The service was attentive and quick. The orders came in within 5 mins after giving the order. The food was prepared fresh and tasty! The quantity was not too big but enough for me! Will come back again to try the BBQ! Highly recommended!

This place is fantastic! A wonderful experience with great service and fresh delicious food. Located right downtown. Super fun atmosphere. All you can eat dinner is $40.99 - worth it. We were two people and with a large bottle of asahi it was $98. Totally great experience and delicious meal.

For buffet, it's alright. Parking is tricky sometimes. Prices have increased, with decreased quality. My favourite menu items are their BBQ shortribs and coffee jelly. What irks me is their portioning control. Many items we ordered never arrived in full amount. Ordering 10 spicy sashimi is equivalent of ordering 1. Frankly, i find this quite annoying. Items are also often missed without warning, so you need to reorder if you want it, like how we ordered coffee jelly twice, and both times never received. Calling the server over usually does the trick though.

It's all you can eat. You grill your own meats so it's kinda fun. The food is okay but of very average quality and taste. Totally a quantity over quality place. You will be very full. It's alright.

Very little to none customer service. You pay mostly for the experience but the food is just okay and definitely overpriced. Our bill was almost $400 and they still charged me $1 for a mask!

We had a great experience at Shabusen Yakiniku House! This All-you-can-eat Japanese & Korean-style BBQ restaurant exceeded my expectations. The food was prepared on tabletop grills, allowing us to enjoy the interactive cooking experience. The variety of options, including sushi, was impressive, and we had the opportunity to try almost everything on the menu. The service was good, with attentive staff making sure our dining experience top-notch. I must say, their sashimi was an absolute delight! Fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Highly recommend giving Shabusen Yakiniku House a try for a memorable and satisfying meal.

We went here on a weekend (price is differenton a weekday). Price is reasonable for an "eat all you can". Service and food is ok, grill cook your own meat. A lot of Paid parking is available (I don't know on a weekday). It's on the second floor, you can choose to use the stairs or the elevator. Accessible to persons with disabilities. Covid protocol is observed.

We had AYCE sushi during lunch. Everything was tasty and the service was fast. We ate our fill and left wanting for nothing. It is sushi that is in that middle zone of being better than what's available at the grocery store; but certainly not the quality you would expect at a more premium restaurant. I would expect this would be a great choice for friends to gather and share a few laughs. We didn't have the Korean BBQ, so I can't comment on that part of the menu. In terms of the physical environment, don't go here with high expectations. Tables and seats were clean. However, there were corners needing a good scrubbing and everything was showing an age well past needing replacement. At the same time, I would not expect much at this price point. I would eat here again if I was in the area and wanting a quick sushi meal. It's fine; but not destination dining.

Like Shabusen for more than 10 years because its fresh and delicious food. I prefer to their Salmon Sashimi (although the piece becomes smaller), avocado Sushi, and BBQ. The price has gone up, almost doubles to compare with it of 10 years ago. So, hurry to try and enjoy their food before the price rises again. The space is a little bit crowded because of its location in the downtown area, but the staff is pretty nice.

I went to eat the all you can eat menu with some friends and we were a little bit afraid because somehow this place doesn’t have that much good reviews. But honestly from our experience everything was very good, the food was super good and very tasty, the service was very nice and always there to help, the atmosphere of the restaurant is nice, it would be better some music, but it doesn’t really matter. The food again was very very nice, we had a good time and enjoyed every single bite, and it’s a very fair price for a "all you can eat", the sushi was good, a lot of options, the bbq was super good, a lot of options as well. I really recommend this place if you guys like to eat a lot, we were so full that we wanted to throw up, but it was worth it because we really enjoyed the food!!

It was really good value for you can eat all in lunch time. sushi and sashimi is good quality for this price. But recently the price increased. And group over 6 or 8 people is needed extra service fee.

Very fast service, and very attentive to our requests. Though it can get very busy quickly at night so always make your reservation, otherwise expect a line up. If you don't finish your food right away make sure it's not close to the edge of table, otherwise they assume your are done and take it away. Would definitely go back again when AYCE craving hit again.

Not what I remembered. Egg rolls were very oily and atmosphere was old and needed updating. Portions are small and you must keep ordering more. The service was ok but could have checked in on us more since we were a larger group. Orders came with a lot of waiting time eventhough the meat isn't cooked so not sure why that happened. I would not want to do this again but it was a different experience.

The only Japanese/Korean buffet restaurant along Burrard St. Food is reasonably priced. I always come here for meat barbecue and my own option to include sashimi into the barbecue half-cookef. It's a nice place, but not the best in ambiance. Otherwise, they would charge more. Washroom is available. Parking though is an issue. Curbside metered parking is available as being normal in Downtown Vancouver. Underground parking on nearby buildings.

Shabusen is one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver. If you are someone who can eat a lot you definitely get your money's worth. Eating here is a fun experience as you get to cook your food as you eat, I love bringing people who haven't had this experience before. My only complaint is the lack of organization and good customer service at the front desk. Even if you make a reservation, expect to be waiting at least 30 minutes to get a table. I would highly recommend this place for anyone who wants a unique dining experience or loves Japanese/Korean cuisine.

Love it here. I’ve been to Shabusen a couple of times and the service is always good. Prices seems fair to me, you get to eat a lot. I visited last weekend with my family and we had a great time. Service was fast. Food was amazing. The sushi tastes really good. I will definitely come back. They have good options for all you can eat. We tried sushi, kimchi, tempura, rice, gyoza, beef, spicy pork and chicken, everything was 10/10.

I went there with 30 of my friends. The food was great and the servers were nice. The sushi were also really fresh. The total price we spent there was 1400$ for 30 people. When it comes to tipping they told me it is not mandatory and it is up to the customers which in my opinion I believe they deserve 20% tips. Overall a great experience and will surely go back one day

Its exactly what you would expect with AYCE places. Nothing fancy and smaller portions so you don't accidentally over order on round 1. I found the price decent and food was tasty enough if you can eat a lot. Their beef short ribs were delicious with rice. I also enjoyed their chopped scallop cone and coffee jelly! They served meats in the same bowl so I couldn't tell what some of the items were. The sashimi was ok. Service was very quick. We had an uneven fire and our server took care of that as soon as she noticed. I did read reviews before coming here and luckily had a decent experience. Did not expect to kill a big silverfish bug in the middle of my meal though. Some notes: - They charge 2% on credit cards - Some items on the menu will not be on the ordering card for reasons unknown - $20 for a soju is an upsetting price

Great experience for an all you can eat. The sushi were great and the marinade of the Korean meat was excellent. Service was quick. I recommend making a reservation.

Best time to go is on a weekday when it’s cheaper and less crowded (I can never get in on a busy weekend). The price for All-You-Can eat is an amazing deal. Staff are attentive and polite and food comes right away. Highly recommend the tonkatsu dish and the gyoza.

Eating whatever we want is a great option. Taste is also good for the price. But customer services can be improved. Waiter often reminded us of the time while we were eating which was kind of annoying. Also we couldn’t chose the amount of tip. I understand it’s too busy but if it is improved, the restaurant will be a lot better.

May not come again. Lots of options for a meal. However, the food doesn’t taste good and doesn’t look very fresh. Lettuce should be paid separately in addition to the AYCE.

  • 4/5 Scott N. 7 months ago on Google
A good solid 3.5 stars because the quality of the food is ok. The Service is wonderful though especially the wait staff who speak Chinese. The meat is good and the Japanese style dishes ok. Miso soup is flavorful. Skip the shrimp which is hard to grill but the mussels are good. It’s a strange mix of Korean BBQ and Sushi though which can be an interestingly fun. Tea is included with the meal price for dinner which is good too.

When your eating seafood in a boat you see food differently in a boat... They had a cool corner spot that was a boat and you jump in it and eat out of it, very cool. This all you can eat Japanese / Korean barbecue place has been business for over 30 years, I remember last coming here 20 years ago and loved it and now returning again it brought back lots of memories and the food was as I remembered. Our kids enjoyed grilling their own food as well as having sushi 🍣, tempura 🍤, barbecue lamb, chicken, beef all the varieties you can ask for. The flavoring was of Korean sweetened barbecue so it was nice. You need to follow up on your orders as they do tend to miss some, so always write it down on the paper and hand it to them, when you ask for your second and third rounds ask for another paper and do the same. This is no fault on theirs, as it is really busy and is very difficult to handle small small orders at a time. Great experience little pricier than I expected but for our family of 4 came out to $187 with taxes and tip.

This has been one of the favourite places me and my family go for many years now. We like it for the variety of different food. It’s nice having the option to try and taste all the different foods on the menu. Since the start of this restaurant, my favourite has been the mayonnaise oysters, shrimp tempura, the cones, and the chicken wings. The manager is also very kind. It’s sad though this restaurants has been having several challenges with the pandemic and rising prices. I attached two photos below of the menus. One is from late 2018/ early 2019 and the other is from my latest visit in December 2023. You can notice that there was a huge reduction in the size of the menu. I remember I really enjoyed the mayonnaise oysters and the shrimp tempura but I couldn’t find them from the menu. I’m glad they decided to keep the two cones, chicken wings, and coffee jellos on the menu. Those are my favourite items on the menu. I assume this reduction in menu size is due to the increase in costs and it was reduced to make the price affordable for consumers. It’s a shame that many all you can eat restaurants has suffered from the pandemic and increased increases in prices. There was another good all you can eats with sushi in Lansdowne shopping Center many years ago but it has since closed down. This one is one of the better ones that I’ve found that is still open. Overall I still recommend this restaurant if you want an all you can eat experience with sushi and kbbq. However I feel like the quality of the kitchen items has decreased quite a bit with the removal of several main ticket items( explained above). The texture of the teriyaki item is also quite different from before and has a crispy top instead of how it was cooked before.
