I have been taking my Grandaughrter since it first opened . It has had a few managers in that time . I have had the same table for years due to my granddaughter's complex needs sever autism etc she is used to that particular table it's out of the way of groups of people she cannot cope with crowded places . However just been informed by New Manager we can no longer have said table as there being let down with bookings & people walking out etc !! . So unfair if could not make would ring to let them no . We arrive at 12.30 & are no more than 45 minutes in total . What's happened to empathy .compassion & welcoming your regulars with respect . Jess you were amazing I only wish there was more like you . You are missed . One disappointed upset customer hopefully said Manager will not stay long & someone take over who understands & wants to help Children with Disabilities !!

Went here on Sunday for a carvery and have to say the food was absolutely lovely. Staff were lovely and so helpful and considering it was massively busy, they managed to do an amazing job at serving everyone quickly and getting our food to us all at the same time! The only fault would be the greedy customers who pinched all the mint sauce but the food was delicious without it. Would definitely recommend and we will certainly be going back

I came with my nanna tea. Meals are massive portions. Very happy. Carvery is only on a Sunday now. We came on a weekday thinking it was still every day. Disappointed. But the meals totally made up for it.

We had a big group meal booked at the Clocktower last week. Lisa and her team looked after us really well, the food was delicious and we all had a great time, can't wait to go back. 😀

I felt really relaxed in the pub. We had two drinks and food and top quality. The waitress is really lovely and friendly. Would come again. I noticed it changed a lot since we came 4 years ago. To be honest I recommend it.

Lovely place inside and out. Really helpful staff who made us very welcome. I am gluten free and my choice of food was adjusted to suit this.Covid aware. Families and couples etc catered for. Cannot fault.

Went for the Sunday carvery and was extremely disappointed with the food. The meats were very dry and the vegetables had obviously been out for sometime as they were cold. The parsnips and roast potatoes had been cremated and inedible. Topped off by cold flavourless gravy. Was going to ask them to microwave it for us but no staff around. We left and doubt if we would go again for food

Had my gender reveal here on Saturday in the new function area. The service from start to finish was superb. I will definitely be using this function area again and would 100% recommend to anyone. Thank you for making the evening so special. X

Couple of decent vegan options including on Sunday instead of a roast (no vegan roast option but didn't expect it tbf). We last went for the women's world cup final and that reserved us a table for 6. Good pub, decent and well priced drinks. Meat eating friends were very happy with their carvery post game

I would honestly not bother wasting my time or money here. Go to the worst KFC in England over the way instead. Arrived at the carvery station and had to ask the "so called chef" for fresh vegetables and meat. There was a heel of dried husk which was supposed to be beef, so asked the guy for something fresh as there were quite a few in our party which and he wasn't happy about. We all had to stand waiting for what seemed like 10 minutes while all of the vegetables were brought out as there was nothing in the pans, not even gravy. The peas had been left so long they looked like they belonged in a pot noodle. Food standards were obviously not on the agenda. The Pork, which was so salty I couldn't eat it. Turkey and the fresh beef so dry that I could've made a nice belt out of them. Praise be to the Gravy God's, which rehydrated the meat and made it edible. I can honestly say what an incompetent pair. You wouldn't think they were in the hospitality sector. No customer service. We had to arrange our own tables and move them around and not one of the staff asked how the "so called" meal was. 1 star is too much by far. Never again.

Came here sunday to celebrate with my friends. Tables were clean and food was appropriately priced. The array of food choices was exceptionally good, and they were able to give me a list of allergens for each item. As someone with a severe nut allergy this is important and something that makes or breaks my view of a restaurant. Staff were kind and welcoming, and they checked up on us throughout the meal; not in a way that seemed irritating but in a way that suggested they genuinely cared whether we had a nice dining experience. Special thanks to Nathan who was patient and kind despite us coming in 15 minutes before the kitchen closed and didn't make us feel rushed 😁

Not a lover of chain pubs but this place has changed my mind. On the 2 occasions we have visited we have felt so relaxed & welcomed by the lovely staff. The food on both occasions has been absolutely delicious . Full of flavour...cooked beautifully & hot. Will definitly return when in the area again. Keep up the good work team.

A nice place stopped there in our way to Manchester. They have a good varieties of meals cakes and ice-creams in addition to the chilled beer and a list of drinks. Some of the dishes two for the price of one. The Clock Tower is very roomy and you can find comfortable seats to drink and have drink. It has outside seating which good when you have ☀ sunny day and warm weather. The staff were pleasent and friendly. They having fireworks 🎇 event on Friday the 5th of November and this will be good to spend the night there.

I had 3 fishcakes as a main( it was a starter) my friend had buttermilk chicken and we shared a dish of chips. Absolutely fabulous! We decided to have 2 puddings and share half each as we couldn't make our minds up. The apple and almond pie; mmmm. The cherry lattice pie; also mmmm. Heaven on earth!

We went here as a family for a quick bite to eat on a Sunday afternoon. Everything was clean and tidy and the staff were lovely but the food wasn't great. I had the carvery, the meat was very dry and there was no flavour in the veg. The kids were also disappointed that they were provided with menus that you can colour in but there were no crayons. Sorry clocktower, not somewhere we will be re visiting.

Firstly, our server, Robbie, was incredibly friendly and attentive. Secondly, the food was very nice and the two courses for £19.95 were very reasonable. We will definitely be back.

Nice setting, and outdoors areas — I felt very relaxed here with my friend, and the food was nice enough too. A bit rough around the edges though

Hi I came for the carvery a few weeks ago with my family . The Beef was the nicest I have ever had the vegetables were cooked to perfection considering it was 4 pm the food was extremely freshly cooked . Compliments to the Chef also to the friendly staff . I will definitely come for another carvery . Just sorry we didn’t book for Xmas dinner . Merry Xmas to you all

Not bad but defo needs some work on serving times, menu being not very clear and staffing levels. We have just been The Clock Tower for tea and it was fairly quiet being about 6.30ish on a Thursday evening. We ordered after disappointment that the carvery is only on Sundays when it doesn't state that at all on website or menu even. The food came after a bit longer than normal and was good . I had sausage and mash and portion was massive. I decided to treat myself to a dessert and opted for a Nutella and cookie dough tart and my dad a sticky toffee pud. 45 minutes later and we still hang had our desserts and it was violently apparent that there was one bloke who was really nice serving all the meals to an ever increasingly busy pub and one girl on tills. We were actually at the point of asking for our money back when .y dad spoke to the server guy and he said after going into kitchen it would be out in two mins...I appreciate it was busy and perhaps low staff but that is honestly not my problems. Tarnished the desert for me a bit really as I was fed up at that point. Put me off going again a bit to be honest.

Food was lovely, really decent prices, barman was an absolute dude. Didn't catch his name, but he had a beard. Also, the music in the pub was really good. First time I've heard Incubus in a chain pub.

Good place to visit if having a family "get together" or a birthday party. Plenty of room and the manager was great, bringing drinks to the table. Good Carvery and good value

We called in while passing for lunch, the staff was pleasant, the pub was quiet, some TV screens were dotted about the pub, the general decor was pleasant. The Friday we called in they had a pub meal specia,l Fish with a drink offer for £9.99, I was a bit reluctant to order this 'as I'm fussy about my battered fish' but I thought why not. After approximately 15 mins our food arrived, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a good size thick fillet of fish in a tempura batter, the chips were chunky, and it was accompanied with a pot of mushy peas and a small pot of tartar sauce. Overall the pub gets 4 stars from me, it dropped 1 star due to some places of the carpet near the outer garden doors showed slugs trails 🤮, but don't let this put you off the food and drink.

I used to live near the Clock Tower and moved out of the area not long after it's refit. I was in the area yesterday and decided to have a meal there with my daughter. We had fish finger sandwich and steak sandwich respectively, which was on the menu as a baguette, but chef changed (with consent) to a sandwich as there was milk in it & I had registered an intolerance to. The sandwiches were both delicious 😋 well done to all concerned

Really enjoyed our midweek visit. Shame no carvery available today but suppose they can't keep it sitting there with only a few customers in the whole place. Food off the regular menu was enjoyable and a great pint. Will be returning!

Very nice on tap beers! No Carling but has in my opinion a better more tasty option called 'Gold'

  • 1/5 Chris L. 2 years ago on Google
Beautiful lighting. Shame about the food, if you get the boring and dry, sat for hours under lights food it’s not bad. Order off the menu and wait for your burnt food to arrive. In short, nice setting but terrible food. Staff have no back bone either with some of the customers. Shouting and rude people to say the least with bad attitudes. Maybe sort the food and customers out and then you may start to get better customers that will spend money..

😠 Terrible service but food was good as always. Should’ve ordered the takeaway to avoid the terrible service and get 20% off while I’m at it. Waited nearly an hour for food with no explanation and when asked, the waiter responded “well it doesn’t look busy in the restaurant but the kitchen is busy wit...
