In
the
winter
when
temperatures
fall
sufficiently
the
pond
at
Chistye
Prudy
is
transformed
into
one
of
Moscow's
most
famous
outdoor
skating
rinks
(featured
in
numerous
Soviet
films
and
part
of
Moscow
folklore).
There
is
a
large
skating
area,
kiddie's
ice
slide
and
even
a
miniature
hockey
rink
complete
with
goals.
All
absolutely
free
of
charge.
For
those
without
skates
there
is
skate
hire
there
but
it
tends
to
be
quite
pricey.
Best
to
bring
your
own.
One
downside
is
that
while
there
are
benches
on
the
ice
next
to
the
Shater
restaurant
there
isn't
actually
any
cafe
for
refreshments
or
hot
drinks
or
anywhere
to
rest.
Also,
there
are
no
toilet
facilities
(except
in
the
Shater
restaurant).
There
is
also
no
warm
area
for
those
who
need
to
warm
up
after
spending
time
on
the
ice.
All
in
all
a
great
outdoor
rink
right
in
the
middle
of
the
city.
Great
for
parents
and
kids,
or
a
romantic
evening
skating.
There
are
lots
of
post-skating
cafes
a
stones
throw
away
on
nearby
Ul.Pokrovka.
