We had the most surreal walk up here, walked up and watched the most amazing sunset and the scenery on this walk is stunning. Pretty waterfall but a little troublesome to view properly as the bottom has been attempted to be closed off with barbed wire, you can pass if you are careful though, I think there is danger more rocks may fall so do at own risk!

Started the walk to the waterfall from a road off Nuwara Eliya Kandapola road. It’s about 4km – you can opt for a Taxi or enjoy the hike if you’re up for it. The trail is manageable; the last mile winds through tea plantations. A small parking area awaits at the top. The base can get crowded, but I visited during the off-peak season. Be cautious of slippery rocks when taking photos or climbing. Overall, a scenic experience!

One of the greatest attraction place in the Nuwara Eliya city area. Easily access to the down area of the waterfall. The water from the famous Piduruthalagala mountain springs.. nowadays the waterfall with plenty of water falling down with calm view.

The road to this small stunning waterfall is so narrow and a hill. A van can reach this place but need to have good breaks. You have to park the car and hike about 500m to reach the waterfall. It is a very beautiful place and the view from top of the mountain is absolutely gorgeous.

Lover's Leap Waterfall is a beautiful waterfall located in the Nuwara Eliya district of Sri Lanka. The waterfall is about 100 meters (330 feet) high and is surrounded by lush vegetation. The water is clear and cold, and the sound of the waterfall is very relaxing. There is a short hike to the waterfall, but it is worth it. The views from the top of the waterfall are amazing. You can see the city of Nuwara Eliya and the surrounding countryside. Lover's Leap Waterfall is a popular tourist destination, but it is still possible to find peace and tranquillity at the waterfall. I highly recommend visiting Lover's Leap Waterfall if you are looking for a beautiful and refreshing place to visit in Sri Lanka. ✨

The Lover's Leap is a beautiful waterfall nestled amongst the tea plantation hills. Tourists can visit this place when they visit the Pedro Tea Estate since the waterfalls are nearby. The waterfall has many myths and stories associated with it, which makes it even more exciting and attractive. Tourists have to hike up the hill to get to the waterfalls which are one of the lesser-known and lesser-visited tourist spots in Nuwara Eliya, so tourists can leisurely explore the place. It is about 3.5 kilometres away from the central city and easily accessible via local transport. One can explore and hike up these beautiful hills and discover a hidden waterfall. The area near the Pedro Tea Estate has this seemingly mystical waterfalls, called the Lover's Leap. There are various stories as to how this waterfall got its name, and all of them make the place even more intriguing. Towards the end of the hike, the view of the waterfall, and the view of the entire city from the top of the hill are guaranteed to make you swoon. The trek may get tough, but it is worth it. It is recommended that you visit these waterfalls during the wet season to see them in their full glory. It is easy to find the waterfalls since there are directions marked on the way. You will come across a shrine of Lord Shiva on your way as well. Tourists generally prefer visiting this waterfall in the afternoon, after paying a visit to the Tea Estate. A bit of hard work and challenging climbing can take you to the best viewing point of the city.

Gorgeous waterfall. The hike was very adventurous and we enjoyed it very much. Highly recommended to anyone in Nuwara eliya. The initial climb is what I found the most tiring. Afterward, it was much more interesting and easier. Wear good grippy shoes and you'll have absolutely no issues. The sight is very rewarding and it was so much fun. Go during the day or evening before night falls unless you have a torch with you. You go through a forest, and there may be poisonous snakes or insects.

Beautiful waterfall in the middle of a tea garden in the tea city of Nuwara Eliya. There is a moderate to difficult hike up to the view point of the waterfall. One can also hike up to the top of the waterfall, however the hike is considered to be really tough as per the local guide. We visited there on a holiday and there was an ample amount of rush, and had to wait for sometime to get the photos clicked.

Very attractive waterfall to visit in Nuwara Eliya. 3km away from the town area. If you are a person who loves to hike and watch beautiful waterfall, this is an ideal place to visit. 30mins walk through the tea estate and pine trees

Quite the hidden gem of a view I wasn’t expecting from the top. Also was given a great extra hike up the top to rock pools and streams from a local guy who lives nearby. Worth it if you see someone try to help out as there are a few tricky spots to climb after you reach the point on Google Maps.

This is a hidden treasure in Nuwara Eliya Sri Lanka. You have to cross a tea estate to reach the waterfall. It’s kinda hike as you have to walk on a slanted road. If you have a good fitness, I recommend taking the walking trail that leads to the waterfall as will surely make you satisfied with breathtaking views. You will not find lot of people walking to the waterfall as it not much of a destination like other famous waterfalls. However I would once again state that this is a hidden treasure with no entrance fee and is absolutely a gift of the nature.

It is a beautiful waterfall located close to the city of Nuwara Eliya. To see this you need to climb a small hill where you can see a waterfall that cascades down from a high cliff. This is also a great place to see the city of Nuwara Eliya from above. It is dangerous to take small children near this waterfall because that road is difficult. But this is a lovely waterfall in the literal sense. A place not to be missed by tourists

On our way to.Bentota we had an extraordinary views for the Lover leap waterfall from the main road and we had a chance to see the distant cascading top and the receding water downstream. Aview unlikely to be experienced either at the top or at the tail end Pictures enclosed with the review The first picture is the bridge where we halted .The second is down stream and there is the misty heights of the water fall...an enchanting view

If you have only one day in Nuwara Eliya I think it is better to go there. It is near to city center, city view is very nice. Road is not hard only the last part which we spent almost 20min was the hardest but very fun. The tea garden at the beginning of hiking road also nice to see.

For the correct location, follow the 'Lover's Leap Waterfall Car Park' directions. The road to the car park is narrow and steep, so drive carefully. It's advisable to avoid weekends and public holidays.

Lover's Leap waterfall give amazing view after nice walking 20-30 minutes from parking. There are two parking lots recommend using parking in upper level or you can start walk from there. Some crazy travelers climb up to the waterfall which is unsafe task, no lifesaving or there is no place to get equipment's.

After a small hike for about 15 mins we reached this beautiful place. The fall is attractive and it is worth the hike. I would not recommend bathing here. You can take nice pictures.

I went there with my two kids. It is very difficult to go near the fall since there is no regular path. But anyway you can have a good view from distance. I tried by myself to reach near but could not come near due to hardness. But I saw some people near the fall. It is on your own. Be safe.

I have been to Nuwara Eliya many times since my childhood. Yet, never visited this place. This was my first time and wow. It was one of the best experiences. We stayed in a place near to the waterfall called Lovers Leap Cabin and Villa. From there it was just half and hour walk. Should not be greater than 3km away from the city center. Vehicles can reach up-to a certain point on the road. The road is in good condition when we travelled. Road is concrete paved one and has very steep gaps. Then there is about 500m walk up hill. You can see a very beautiful view of the city as well from the top. Also, the road is enjoyable with beautiful views of tea estate and water streams.

A beautiful waterfall even though there was not much water when we visited. There are few routes to reach this place. The route we went using Google map was not accurate. Thankfully a local guy helped us to reach the place. Also the trail we used was a bit challenging even though it was a short route.

A very beautiful waterfall. You can't reach near to the ella by a vehicle. There is a very small hike about 6 minutes. Lovers has been jumped from the top of the fall so the name of waterfall is lovers leep. You can't bath there since rocks.

What a beautiful waterfall! Its not very difficult to approach this. I think its 15 or 20 min easy hike. If you go on a bike, you can go very close by road But if you are going by car, you have to park at the bottom and go up the rest of the road. Its approximately 1km. Then you can star your hike. There are also rooms at the starting point of the hike where you can stay. Another thing is that it is located very close to Nuwara Eliya city. A short distance from Gregory lake How this waterfall got its name is there in the noteborad We could not go to the top of this waterfall because it was evening So next time we will go to the top of the falls. One more thing No polythene was left so be careful with that

Very calm and mind blowing environment. This is one of the main water sources of the Nuwaraeliya town.

Nice waterfall, especially when the wind is blowing. Easily assessible. Can't get to the water without some treacherous climbing, though. The information board is also rather worn out, so it's a little challenging to read. Do not miss the nice pond near the entrance of the track.

One of the most scenic & easiest hike that I had experienced in Nuwaraeliya. The path to Waterfall was surrounded by huge pine trees & tea fields 🍃

This place is truly remarkable! a sight to behold, and the surrounding scenery is simply amazing. Depending on the season, the water level can vary, but it's always a picturesque destination. The walk to get there might seem long, but it's not as tiring as it appears. Sometimes stray dogs will guide you throughout the journey. The history behind the name, "Lover's leap" adds an intriguing touch to the place. Highly recommend and don't miss out this fantastic destination.

What a wonderful place to visit if you're in nuwara eliya. Couldn't make it to the top due to the bad knee but still it's worth going there, it was very chilly in December and weather was really nice

It is about 1km walk to the waterfall from the parking area. Only 5-6 vehicles can park in the parking area. The waterfall is very attractive and calming. The view from the top is also worth more than the 1km walk.

One of the best places to visit in Nuwara Eliya… There’s much more to explore if you get past the first and the biggest fall and climb your way up… Make sure not to litter the place as it’s one of the major water sources which is used by the city for their needs…

Very beautiful waterfall with great views too. Access is by foot only on a short dirt path that is a bit rough at times. So swimming allowed.

  • 5/5 Sam C. 1 year ago on Google
Absolutely stunning place. The views are incredible and you can see the sun setting over Newara Elya if you go to the top. There's razor wire blocking the route to the very top but we were told that the climb is still possible but it's tricky.

  • 3/5 Jana K. 1 year ago on Google
Not that long hike, but count with walking a bit up to the hill. I didn't like much that it was not that clear where should a person walk to get to the waterfall. Some local was realizing that and he was guiding people up to the waterfall in exchange of some money. I didn't like that he just joined me and my boyfriend and suddenly became a part of walk, since we didn't ask him and I felt bothered. The place is free of charge. You can either park at some parking lot a bit further away, or at the street under the hill, but then you need to walk a lot up to the hill. What was disappointing was that right when you get to the waterfall, there is a fence that protects people from walking further and probably hurting themselves. It makes sense that it's there, but it prevents you from creating a nice picture of the waterfall. From this perspective, it's better to take pictures of the waterfall from a bit of distance.
