This park opens around 8:30 am and the ticket price for locals are Rs. 50/- Parking is available outside the park by the road where you have to pay a parking fee to the ticket attendant. If you are a bird photographer, highly recommend going at 7am or 4pm as there are a lot of migrant and local birds during that time. Since the ticket counter is not open at 7am, you can leave your Identity card with the security guard and go in and pay the ticket counter when you leave and collect your ID card in return. The park usually gets very crowded during weekends and he day time. If yo love flowers, then the best time to visit is in April when all the flowers are in full bloom. Average time you can spend inside the park is around 1 hour. They have toilets and and a small canteen (Food shop) inside the park.

One of the most famous landmarks and must-see places in Nuwara Eliya city. The park is open to the public although tickets need to be bought at the entrance. Established in 1861 as a botanical research and experimentation site, the park was renamed in 1897 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. The park is beautiful, serene, and calm encapsulating the old-world charm that Nuruwa Eliya offers. With historic trees planted by the many royals who walked through the park over the years, the park is definitely worth a visit.

What was formally the research field of the Hakgala Botanical Garden, Victoria Park is a 27-acre public park situated at the centre of Nuwara Eliya city. The park received its name in 1897 as a way to commemorate Queen Victoria’s 60th year on her throne. Few places in Sri Lanka could compete with Victoria Park’s extensive array of flowering plants, with rare endemic flora to more intrepid blooms making an experience across the expanse of the park. The park comes under the local municipal council’s jurisdiction, which carefully maintains the many gardens within its parameters. The park is accessible to the public all year round, but it’s highly recommended to pay a visit during the months of March to May, and again in August to September, when the flowers are in full bloom, in order to get the most out of the experience. Grab a pair of binoculars on your way there as you’re sure to find dozens of wonderful tropical birds perched on the trees around. You could spot the Sri Lanka scimitar babbler (Pomatorhinus melanurus) or the yellow-eared bulbul (Pycnonotus penicillatus), and many more, so it’s a spotting experience you mustn’t miss! Towards the far end of the park, you will find the children’s section, with a play area and even a miniature train! Though it’s a lovely spot for a picnic, be sure to clear things up once you’re done so as to ensure the splendid view stays splendid! The park is open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day, and the entrance fee is Rs. 300.

One of the most famous parks in Nuwara Eliya city limits. Perfect for a morning or evening stroll. Have two entrances from opposite ends. Have to obtain tickets to enter the premises. Kids park can be accessed through the main park. Environment is calm and nice. A must visit place for a person having a great time in Nuwara Eliya.

Victoria Park is a well-maintained park located in the heart of Nuwara Eliya and it has easy access as it is located right in the city center. Contains a variety of exotic flowers, plants and birds. You should visit during the season as the flowers are in full bloom in March, April and May and again in August and September. There is a separate area for the kids too. The park opens at 7 in the morning and closes around 7 p.m. If you're interested in bird watching you should go in the early morning and they'll let you in after recording your details. Either way you have to buy the ticket after 7 a.m.

A nice small garden and children's park near the town. It takes about one hour to go around the garden. You find huge tall trees, variety of flowers and well maintained flower beds all around the place which is beautiful and eye catching. Lovely location to capture photos. There are benches and seating area to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature even on a cold and chilly day. 😊🌹

This park is really beautiful one. Full of greenery, a variety of plants could be seen. Of course when I went in Feb, they were planting flowers plants, I am sure after two to three months it would be heaven. Very peaceful, you can relax there. For foreigners they charge 500 rupee (1.5 dollars) not a big amount when we see the beauty. Place is clean and neat, except the river which flows..of course they are not responsible for it. Thanks for the gardeners those who really take care of the place. Worth visiting.

Victoria Park in Nuwara Eliya is a beautiful and well-maintained public park that offers a serene and peaceful escape amidst the scenic beauty of the hill country. This park is a popular destination for both locals and tourists alike, and is known for its stunning floral displays and recreational opportunities. One of the highlights of Victoria Park is its well-manicured gardens and vibrant flower beds. The park is home to a wide variety of flowers, including roses, dahlias, and orchids, that bloom in colorful splendor throughout the year. The well-planned and maintained gardens make for a picturesque setting, perfect for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. The park also offers ample opportunities for recreation and relaxation. There are walking paths that wind through the park, offering a peaceful stroll amidst the natural beauty. The park also features a children's playground, making it a family-friendly destination. Additionally, there are plenty of benches and picnic areas where visitors can relax and soak in the tranquil ambiance of the park. The location of Victoria Park is another highlight, as it is situated in the heart of Nuwara Eliya, a popular hill station in Sri Lanka known for its cool climate and stunning scenery. The park's elevation and lush greenery create a refreshing and rejuvenating atmosphere, making it an ideal spot to escape from the heat and hustle of city life. One thing to note is that there is a small entrance fee for visiting Victoria Park, which may be a consideration for budget-conscious travelers. Additionally, the park can get crowded during peak tourist seasons, which may affect the overall experience.

Originally the park was the research field of Hakgala Botanical Garden. The park was formally named in 1897 to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. The park was established with the planting of its first tree, an Oak, by a visiting German Princess. The Nanu Oya River runs through the park, creating a number of small lakes. A number of rare bird species can be found in the park. At the far end of the park is a small children's playground and miniature ridable railway.

Named after Queen Victoria’s 60th jubilee coronation and established in 1897, it has a land mass of 27 acres. This is a place where most people, specially holiday makers never fail to visit and enjoy the beautifully laid out gardens with the colourful flora and fauna which are maintained beautifully by the municipality. The flowers are in full bloom in March, April and May and again in August and September. There is a separate area for the kids too. Easily accessible as it is located right in the city centre and yet one does not feel that it is in the city Centre.

It’s a Real Paradise for Kids! A pleasant place to go, especially if you have a small child who’s happy with a play area and doesn’t expect anything very sophisticated. All children below 12 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. This is a pretty large park, full of trees, flowerbeds, even topiary—bushes shaped into elephants, rabbits, and other creatures. There are several spaces with outdoor play structures, from slides and swings to see-saws and monkey bars. Some spaces are specially designed for younger children (with smaller slides, shorter ladders) and some for older children. Specially the Train ride is great for the kids as well as the adults! The location is heart of the town. My wife, daughter and I spent about two hours at the park. There is a very small fee to enjoy the park. Parking is available on the side streets. The scenery is beautiful and it is the perfect location for photographs. I truly recommend this park for children and as well as for adults.

I really recommend to visit this place in april which is nicest time to visit the nuwaraeliya. The only bad thing is you have to find a space to park your vehicle outside of the garde. I also had to park beside the road.

We had a lovely couple of hours walked around Victoria Park - a bit of a haven of peace and quiet from the hustle and bustle of traffic etc. with plenty of shady seating (and clean and well maintained western toilets!) The park is well laid out and maintained with areas set aside for specific plant/tree species. We're not flora or tree experts so didn't bother taking a guided tour just used the informative map you get with your ticket. A lovely way to spend a few hours.

This is the first time in my life that I paid an entrance fee to get to a park. Not that much, but it's there. As everywhere at Sri Lanka, foreigners have different rates than locals. The park is interesting, I would say, reminds me somehow Great Britain. The trees and plants are taken good care of. You can find also some statues at the place. Some of them are nice, some of them are straightforward kitsch. There are also toilets at the park, but at the time that I visited the park, the particular toilet building that I was passing was not working at the time, so you can't totally count with that.

A small green and lush park at the heart of Nuwara Eliya; well maintained to create a serene and relaxing atmosphere. Since we were tourists, we could manage a brief walk into the park. If I live here for two to three days, I would have loved to devour a book while picnicking. Not a must for tourists unless you want to unwind and relax without much physical strain.

A colonial park and sad to see its state now comparatively to what I have seen in early 90's. Maintenance & infrastructure needs improvement for it to be considered a tourist spot. Fountains were not working and plants were not cared for. With the crowd and the ticket they are charging things should be better.

Beautiful park in the middle of the town. In the entrance you have to buy a ticket and keep it until you leave the park. For local adults its only 50 rs. you have to park ur vehicle in main road. Its very calm and nice. Have varieties of flowers. In the evening you can see birds. Best season to visit in Mid April in that time you can see many flowers. There is small food court and toilets. But garden didn't clean often you can see plastic cups and bottles.

This is one of the best places to visit in the Nuwaraeliya town. This is very close to the Nuwaraeliya Bus stand so even if you are travelling by bus you can easily reach here. Park is more beautiful and less crowded in the morning so better try visiting around 7 AM. This is a popular place among Bird watchers as well due to the possibility of seeing good number of Highland birds in Sri Lanka. Toilets are available in the park.

Very well-maintained and clean park with some beautiful landscaping, located at the heart of nuwera eliya town. Some of the trees and flower beds provide some impressive sights. Perfect place for a short walk or to relax and unwind. Best time to visit would be early morning or late evening as it can get a tad bit crowded on other times.

This Victoria Park charges 500 rupees, foreigners and locals alike. Decided to go for this one instead of the other bigger one as they overcharge foreigners (2000 rupees) for a public garden. This park is smaller but still has a good variety of colourful flowers livening up the place. Good for a 30-40 min stroll.

Opened in 1899 this is an awesome and beautiful park. So many flowers, trees and nature to see and admire. Some trees are over hundred years old. Best seen in April. A must visit place in Nuwereliya. A heartfelt tribute to the hardworking staff who maintain and keep this park so beautiful.

A beautiful botanical garden in the middle of Nuwaraeliya city. There are a lot of beautiful and eye catching flowers and trees. In this park besides flowers and plants there is a good children park with a mini train. I have to make a special request from adults who come to this children's park with their children. This children's park is only for children not for adults. And be patient enough for keep this beautiful botanical garden clean. Don't put plastics and polythene packaging you bring here. Keep only your foot marks when you leave from here.

The park itself has plenty of plants and flowers, all looks healthy and enough staff / gardeners to take care and keep it clean. Just don't feel fair when the ticket for foreigners is 500 Rs, 5 times more than locals (100 Rs). It would be helpful if there was more information or map... or maybe just a bottle of water included in the ticket.

It's common for adults to enjoy swings in children's parks, but it's important for everyone to remember that these spaces are primarily designed for kids. Maintenance issues can arise when adults use equipment not designed for their size, leading to wear and tear. To improve these spaces, communities can consider adding more activities and amenities for children to enjoy.
