Pure vegetarian food that is par excellence ! Friendly, courteous staff and really quick service topped it all. We had takeaway masala Dosa and parota with all accompanying curries and chutneys. The food was hot and fresh. Special mention to the vegetable kurma 🙌. The sweets section was out of the world ! Highly recommend when in Nuwaraeliya.

    • Veg biryani - ⭐️⭐️ • Onion uttapam - ⭐️⭐️ • Masala Tea - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ • Tirupathi Laddu - ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Buffet lunch was over before 2pm itself. Floor got dirty with paper towels, spillovers and they refuse to clean. If you are not particular about trying Indian food, i highly highly recommend you try “Hela Bhojun Hala” nearby for local homemade srilankan dishes you wont find anywhere under one roof at dead affordable prices.

Savored delicious hot Indian breakfast at this spot. Fast and friendly service – Parata, Thosai, Vadai straight from the kitchen with flavorful curries. Prices are reasonable, and the place is clean. The only drawback is occasional table sharing due to the popularity.

I went to Ambaal’s by getting recommendations from a friend. Once I heard the name of the place I know this is it. Location is super convenient. Right in the town. I tried the Ghee Dosa and Ulundu wade. It was cooked very well. Service was pretty good also, there was a bit delay serving but I think it’s because of the hectic operations going on there. I had a great lunch that made my day in Nuwara Eliya. Besta!!!

Wow! Great food. I really enjoyed it and I would definitely go here again. Of course, vegan options are available. You will receive a tourist menu with higher prices, but that’s normal in Sri Lanka and still, the prices are very cheap. Food for 2 with some beverage was for less than $8. Definitely visit this place.

Hands down the best place for Dosai and vegetarian meals in Nuwara Eliya. The taste the texture, everything perfectly tally with the experience I got in Colombo dosai places. Staff is friendly and quick. They have a range of options to choose from. The only downside is this place doesn't have a dedicated parking of their own so we have to rely on the public parking at front which can be cumbersome during daytime peak hours. Good that this place exists in Nuwara Eliya for all the dosai fans.

If you want to taste authentic Indian food (vegetarian) in Nueva Eliya, you must visit Ambals Restaurant. There you can get Indian food at reasonable prices. Indian chefs have used authentic Indian ingredients to prepare the food. They maintain the clean environment that a restaurant should have at all times. The friendly staff always provide good service and don't forget to taste the special Indian sweets.

Got paneer tikka masala, veggie kadai, and garlic naan. The spiciness level was good especially the paneer dish. The staff was attentive and recommended the dishes.

Wow one of the my favorite vegetarian 🥗 restaurants in sri lanka. Located at center of nuwara eliya town. And very clean and beautiful place. Price is very cheaper than othe hotel specially buffet menu is very special rate. Hotel staff is very friendly and provides good service for guests. But this restaurant is always crowded from people because nuwara eliya town is crowded from all around the people in sri lanka. Most of the people visiting in nuwara eliya take their dining in this place . Very important place for special vegetarians 🌱 highly recommended this place for take dining

A true indian restaurant and the quality of food was really good. Top choice in Nuwara Elyia.

Really atmospheric place. Good to get some Indian variety as opposed to typical Sri Lankan food. Get the butter panneir dish with nann bread and the sweets down stairs.

Firstly the service was not that good The food was really Awful 😒 I mean with the current situation I admit the fact that raw materials are expensive Though they've increased the prices the food items the quality was worst Cheap cheap cheap To start with, I ordered Parata 1. Parara was not cooked 2. They served soya chunks curry it was just the chunk boiled in turmeric water , no spice no salt 3. No extra curry was served Doesn't deserve even one star

Best place to have Indian vegetarian foods. Crowded during lunch time. Chilie parata, fried rice and biriyani, faluda and masala chai can be highly recommended according to my taste. But there are variety of dosas, rice and drinks available. Good customer service.

Amazing food and very good service! We went to Ambaal's twice during our short stay close by. We got four delicious curries the first time for dinner and then tried out the buffet for lunch. All was delicious and cheap! For lunch we spent 1500 for 4 people and we were all stuffed.

This place is a must visit in Nuwara Eliya! The food is so tasty. We went for lunch one day and went back the next for our dinner because it was that good. If you don’t like spice ask for with no spice and they will also help you choose items which are more/ less spicy. I got the paneer butter masala with a naan and it’s one of the tastiest I’ve had ! Highly recommend this place

Ambaals restaurant is a culinary delight! With its incredibly delicious Indian cuisine and affordable prices, it's a win-win. The flavors are authentic, the portions generous, and the service top-notch. A must-visit for all Indian food enthusiasts!

Food is delicious. However, they have a special tourist menu which is far more expensive than the local menu. Try to borrow a local menu in order to get a good price

Recently I visited to this place after ten mor years. My previous experience was very good. But in my recent visit I ordered Dosa and it was dry and not hot also the taste was bad. Tables and wash room was very unclean. But the customer service is very good but with the bad quality and bad taste of their food I can’t rate this restaurant with more than one star.

The food is delicious, fresh and cheap. They can make it not spicy if you ask. Service can be better. It seems like there's a lot of staff, but they don't pay much attention to you. They can forget or mess up something in your order, so watch out. When I tried to ask why there's a different position in the bill from what I've ordered, the waiter just turned his back and walked away. Be prepared that it's dirty and hot inside.

Service was great, our server spoke fluent English and told us every dish that was vegan or could be made vegan. Unfortunately the rice couldn’t be made vegan but the naan and dosas made up for it. The curries were delicious and we will probably come back again tomorrow!

Best place to have a vegetarian meal at Nuwara Eliya. Ordered food came earlier than we expected. We are bunch of friends and ordered few dishes. Service staff was so helpful when choosing what to order. Fits to the budget. Highly recommended.

We stopped by at Ambaal's restaurant to have some good lunch. The restaurant was crowded and busy as it was lunch hour. Food was good. Best cheese dosa I've ever had and curries were so flavourful.

the best curry of my life. i’m so full right now but i have to strongly recommend this place. the staff were lovely and accommodated my european intolerance to spice, also explaining the menu to me and providing great service even during a busy period. go here

29th November 2023. Came to have lunch here. It was crowded and we chose the first floor. The waiter who served us was a very nice person . We chose masala dosa, fried rice and poori. It was very filling and we all ended up eating more , just as the waiter warned us about. One special thing we noticed after coming to Srilanka is when you ask for Curds, it is also served with a sachet of honey. It is quite tasty ( the next day we discovered the curds they sell in pots on the road to Kathrigama) Curds and Honey is pretty good combo and acts as a dessert too. The ambience is ordinary and the tables are very close to each other and one has to wriggle and move about. Quite conjusted. Otherwise it's a good place to have indian food and rates reasonable It's located right at the heart of Nuwara Eliya town, where parking can be a challenge. Washrooms are okay

Mixed Experience at Ambaal's Pure Vegetarian Hotel & Restaurant Ambaal's Pure Vegetarian Hotel & Restaurant provided a mixed dining experience with notable highs and lows. On the positive side, the food was absolutely delicious, offering a delightful selection of the best Indian Tamil cuisine. The flavors were authentic and truly stood out. However, the customer service was a significant letdown. It seemed that the staff didn't care much about the customers. The restaurant was super crowded, and despite an upper floor area with empty table seatings, we were not allowed to go there. The atmosphere inside was rushed, and some waiters even neglected to take food orders, displaying a level of arrogance that was quite off-putting. While the culinary experience at Ambaal's was commendable, the lack of attention to customer service and the unwelcoming atmosphere, especially on the upper floor, marred an otherwise promising visit. It's a place to consider for the food, but improvements in service and ambiance are needed for a truly enjoyable dining experience.

Great Dosa shop. Vegetarian food. We had dinner two times here during our Nuwereliya trip. Authentic and tasty dosa and uludu wadey. Reasonable price. Atmosphere is modern and trendy. Clean place.

We really enjoyed our experience there, and the waiters were lovely. I will say we didn’t like all the dishes, but we had so much fun that we couldn’t care less. You most try the Samosa, this is the best when I have ever had!

If you are a vegetarian traveling nuwaraeliya, this is the best place to and have a meal. It's a pure vegetarian restaurant. All their vegetarian items are delicious. Prices are reasonable and service is also good. Most of the time place is crowded. if you like to have something to eat leisurely, avoid main meal times specially lunch time. Because so difficult to find a place to sit at that time.
