Tori Ten is one of the famous dishes in Oita and Beppu. As its name suggests, it is Tori(chicken) tempura. By the way, in the northern part of Oita, Usa City and Nakatsu City are famous for Kara-age(Japanese fried chicken). The difference between Tori Ten and Kara-age is whether or not wheat or potato starch is melted in water or not. Tori ten is to melt the clothes in water, and Kara-age to no melt. The famous Tori Ten shop in Oita is an ANTORE of a Western restaurant near the park in front of JR Oita Station. The heavy appearance made of bricks, the shop is dark even in the daytime. I get the impression that it's more like a coffee shop than a western restaurant. Tori Ten, which made chicken breast, tastes lighter than it looks and is not oily. Moreover, the Tori Ten set meal with rice and miso soup is as cheap as 750 yen. In addition to Tori Ten, there are steak and kama-meshi. Tori Ten and beer are essential items to support the Rugby World Cup in Oita.

Everything there is phenomenal and I highly recommend this restaurant.

My wife and I have lived in Japan for almost 4 years, and this is one of the best meals we have had. I had the meatloaf, highly recommend!!!! We finished the night with their creme brûlée and with a desert that good (kind of small order 2) they don't need anything else on their desert menu!

Had the chicken nanban and mixed rice. It was great, think of it as moist, tender, juice chicken fingers with lemony tarter sauce. My wife had toriten, plain chicken fingers with dipping sauces. This was also very good. Excellent food. Been other places for the same thing but not close to this level

Delicious! Set meal with lightly fried chicken was very yummy. Crime brûlée dessert was amazing. Prices were very inexpensive for the value!

Excellent meal, nice warm restaurant on a cold day. I had the steak, ribs and shrimp lunch and Donna had the spicy Shrimp on rice . Both beautifully prepared and plated, with nice side salds and Miso soup. A pleasant, filling lunch.
