Lovely restaurant. The ambiance is very welcoming and charming. We were amazed at not only the quality of food, but also the service. Staff are extremely informative and make great recommendations to us. We tried the beef tataki, salmon tataki, sous vide duck breast gozilla roll and the asahi beer braised short rib. Everything was so tasty and we enjoyed every single bite of the meal. For cocktails, we recommend A Night in Sapporo. Definitely coming back!!!

Fish was so fresh. Food was delicious. Staff are kind and fabulous. Ambience is warm, cozy, and stylish. Portions are generous, especially the lunch specials, and the prices were excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Lovely affordable oysters and grapefruit mocktail. The sushi is really nice as well. I tried the Papparazi roll, which had a lot of tasty roe and torched mayonnaise. I also tried the takoyaki which was better than a lot of other ones I've had in the city. There's a good amount of octopus in each ball and the Bonito flakes are nice and fresh. It's also nice and crispy on the outside. I honestly think everything is good here, but the highlight is the oysters- they're so worth it.

Went here for a business dinner. Food was amazing! All the meat was juicy and tender and the sushi was complex and delicious. The cocktails were unique and refreshing. Would 100% come back with friends.

Cool hipster layout! A handful of booths to sit at and tables. We had the fried egg as the appetizer with avocado and salmon for our entrées. We had a fried shrimp roll, and a salmon roll. Overall 8/10 the servers were very polite and friendly.

Really great sushi & amazing lunch special value - definitely recommend going with a group so you can try the different sushi value sets. Food came out promptly while being well plated and the seating was cozy. Location wise also easy to get to using public transit - close enough to Osgoode station to walk/take a very quick streetcar trip. I will definitely return again for another lunch! Do note that they have lunch hours where the restaurant is closed for a few hours before resuming afternoon service. I advise getting there for early lunch/brunch hours.

Decided to try this place out and wasn’t disappointed!! It’s not a huge space so best to make a reservation if you can but we walked in were able to be seated pretty quickly. This is a nice spot for a date or a celebration with friends. The food is made so well and the quality is great as well. The tables are a bit small but they time their food well so you don’t get everything at once and you don’t feel pressured to eat too quickly. The sous vide duck breast was so good! Definitely get that!

Update on May 27,2023 This store when down about customer service. I’m a loyal customer for a long time. Visit every week. They pick up my phone today and not focus about my booking for reservations and screaming in the phone talking with someone overthere by there language . ( be nice if they just click a hold button) End up my booking not complete they told me walking - no reservation today! ******** Love sushi here - best sushi store in downtown core.

One of the best restaurants in Toronto Good quality, delicious and different. The place also has a great interior design with nice music. You must try the spicy Salmon taco and the paparazzi sushi roll. One more thing the waitress was really nice and friendly also.

A friend recommended this place and I’m so glad she did! It was a great experience - the atmosphere was really cool, especially if you get a seat in the back booths and the staff were lovely. The salmon oshi was to die for. The other sushi rolls and the yuzu cheesecake dessert were all delicious. The only thing I didn’t love was the Tuna Taco. I would recommend making a reservation as we had to wait for about 20 mins (group of 3 on a Tuesday evening)

Just happened to stumble upon this place and happy I did. The sushi here is phenomenal. The restaurant itself appears to be small from what I saw, I was seated near the front and I didn’t venture any further. We were asked if we had a reservation, which we answered no. So good news, they do take reservations and now I know for next time. The restaurant started to get busy after we entered and there’s not much of a waiting area, got pretty crammed. Back to the food, ordered two rolls, calamari and sushi tacos. So much flavour! I was pleasantly surprised, definitely check this place out if you’re in the area.

Menu offers a variety of dishes from sashimi to taco to braised short ribs. They have an iPad menu with pictures of all their foods & cocktails. They also have buck a shuck (12 per person with the purchase of an alcoholic beverage). Their torched pressed sushi was also very satisfying. They were quite busy and the staff did their best to work together & offer the best service possible. We also went in with a stroller and was able to get an end table along with a high chair. We will be going back to try the rest of the menu!

Great food and great service. Not too expensive, nice place for a date. I loved their salmon roll (forgot the name) and the karaage was really good too.

We were downtown to visit the AGO and rocked up to Flame Sushi as we needed somewhere to take shelter from the rain and feed our baby. The food and ambience are both excellent — the lunchtime roll option is ridiculously good value, but more on that later — but I really wanted to commend the kindness and hospitality of the entire team there who looked after us today. It can be tricky to find somewhere to eat when dining with a very young baby but the servers at Flame Sushi handled every request with such grace — from asking for a high chair to arranging the tables to accommodate our pram unprompted, to setting up the bathroom when we needed to change him. That the restaurant looked like a sleek and trendy establishment made the experience feel slightly surreal! The food was very good and we’d happily return for lunch or dinner, and I’d be keen to try more a la carte. The lunch sets are good quality without skimping on ingredients, and my wife (who is vegetarian) was very well looked after too. Would recommend if you’re downtown and looking for something that feels accessible but elevated.

What a great spot! We saw their sign outside for their oyster sale. We then decided to get the $1 oysters- they were amazing! We got two dozens of the east coast oysters and then two dozens of the west coast oysters. Both were super yummy but I do prefer the west coast ones. They have their own homemade mignonette sauce !🤌🏼 Hokkaido Scallop Tataki was delicious and the presentation was so beautiful! The servers here were super friendly and sweet! Very knowledgeable of the menu as well showed us photos of certain dishes! I love when restaurants show photos for their dishes since I am an visual person. The $1 oysters are after 4pm till closed from Mondays to Wednesday and you would need to get a drink to get the deal. Definitely seeing myself coming back here since food quality was super fresh and drinks were beautiful and super yummy! 💓

Accidentally ended up here on a Friday night when all other restaurants were closing. Didn’t expect much but ended up blown away by the big portions and flavorful dishes! Can’t go wrong with the sashimi platter and any of their sushi. The staff were also amazing; they were really pleasant and suggested good cocktails for us. Heard they were only on their soft opening then, can’t wait to come back again.

This was 10/10. Me and my boyfriend went for the $1 oysters deal for their grand opening and all I can say is GO HERE! Best oysters I’ve ever had and the sushi was incredible. The staff are friendly and service was top notch. The interior was really chic as well. Would come here again in a heartbeat.

If I could I’d give 10 stars to this restaurant! The best Japanese restaurant I’ve been in Canada! We had an amazing dinner at this place. The servers were friendly. It’s a new restaurant, very cozy and the food is very fresh! We ordered the assorted sashimi, oysters and Hokkaido roll which was great! We’d definitely come back. Amazing experience! Thank you for making our date night so special!

Great dining experience! Got their winter set and it is one of the best set menus I’ve tried in Toronto. Great price, portions and quality of food! Best items: night in saporo, hamachi tataki, sushi tower I tried my friend’s brisket and it was also really delicious! Overall 10/10 dinner

Value for Money!!! We had an amazing time at this place. We tried their winter five-course menu for $50 per person, and it was exceptional. One of the best and good value-for-money menus I've tried in Toronto. Hamachi Tataki was really delicious. Loved the dragon roll too. Food portions were great, and the presentation was amazing. The servers were very friendly and did an excellent job of explaining the menu items. The drinks were also great. Definitely visiting again soon!

10/10 experience. The atmosphere was inviting and service was excellent. Servers were very attentive and kind. We tried the winter set menu for $50. It was such a great value and definitely was not hungry after. The highlights from the set menu for me were the Japanese Croquet, rainbow roll and Hamachi.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Exceptional Experience at Flame Sushi! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Flame Sushi, and it was nothing short of extraordinary. The service was impeccable – the staff went above and beyond to make our evening memorable. The atmosphere is a perfect blend of elegance and warmth, creating an inviting ambiance. What truly sets Flame Sushi apart is the unique experience they offer. From the Roasted Duck Confit to the tantalizing array of beef and tuna tataki dishes, Godzilla Sushi and each bite was a journey of flavors. The 5-course meal, featuring torched seafood and fine meats, was simply unforgettable. Thank you, Flame Sushi, for a dining experience that exceeded all expectations. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking exceptional service, a charming atmosphere, and a culinary adventure like no other! 🔥🍣🥂

We tried this place out based on Google reviews and we had an amazing time. Food was delicious. We didn’t know they had a Winterlicious menu, but the server let us know about it and a 5-course dinner for $50 a person is such a good deal. This includes drinks and dessert. Sushi was delicious and the winter menu had so many options. We were full (but not uncomfortably full) afterwards. The place also has a nice chill and lounge vibe, which we really liked. Wait staff were incredible and very attentive. Will definitely go back here.

Nothing to complain about food was great, service was great, drinks were great little pricey for their signatures but your paying for the experience which I thought was well done. Ambience of the restaurant was spectacular, good for dates. I will mention next time I go I would request a table in the back (better vibe and a little more private)

Food is acceptable. $1 oyster is gimmick, small size. Sushi is not fresh, overprice. But the cocktail is good value for money. However, customer service is horrible. I asked the server who had pony tail where is the restroom but she rolled her eyes to me, which is really rude.

Let's share: server asked if we were OK with chop sticks..? Insulting! Beer on menu 500 for 9.00..got a glass 14 oz beer well below line as foam just touched the line, at the line it is 414 ml..in contravine of weights and measures act. Soup either well watered down or no miso..just salty water tast taste Salad limp..wet carrot may miss ish topping..probably not bad if fresh Lunch plate sashimi Would have been good if fresh Had l a lovely scum on fish. Cucumbers wilted bowl of rice old clumped Second dish Seaford tower..well soggy mess of rubbery scallop with shrimp on top of a mess in water..very old rubbery cucumber more than 24 hours old...one server 13 tabled...no service

Dined in for lunch special. Fish didn’t taste right. It wasn’t fresh. Mushy texture color was off as well. Only the salmon sashimi was fresh. Sushi and roll’s salmon and tuna were not fresh. To be honest salmon and tuna roll was tasteless and bland. Got charged for tea, I wasn’t informed in advance. Didn’t think it was worth the money.

Ordered a lunch combo - vegetarian bento box, comes with miso soup and salad. It was very good, but my sushi rolls were unraveling, hence the 4 star. The server was very friendly and decor was lovely. I'd go again if they can tighten up my rolls.

We just enjoyed a fantastic meal at Flame Sushi. Hands down the best sushi I’ve ever had. They even have Suntory Whiskey (as well as some more higher grade Japanese Whiskey’s and Saki). The food was out promptly, the wait staff is both friendly and talkative. It filled up quickly and we see why, will definitely return :)

  • 5/5 J S. 10 months ago on Google
Service is really good. Very friendly and quick. Sushi all tasted really good, fresh, and of high quality. Karaage could have been a bit more crispy but the chicken was high quality. Overall, really great meal. Would recommend.

The best Sushi I’ve ever had. I’m only ever been to AYCE places, where the quay is just not there. This was a great dining experience - the staff was attentive, atmosphere was cozy, and the food was honestly great. I recommend the black dragon roll and the honey mustard roll. The sushi pieces were also phenomenal. 👏 We got 6 sushi pieces and 3 (huge) rolls for $70.

New sushi spot in DT. They are offering $1 oyster for their soft opening. Presentation is nice, flavour is balanced but the duck breast is sliced very thin and some pieces look broken. The sake selection is very limited. Service is attentive.

Everything we had was super tasty and fresh (other than the brisket, not like Texas brisket) definitely a spot to check out. We got the winter menu deal which is $50 per person. Food in photos: drinks - night is Sapporo and tamamo Beef and hamachi tataki Karage and yuzu duck leg Godzilla roll Brisket Dessert (included)

  • 5/5 Grace 1 year ago on Google
What a great spot! We got the $1 oysters- they were perfect! Accompanied with their mignonette sauce 🤌🏼 Sushi was amazing quality! The chicken karaage was the best I’ve ever had! So crispy- the consistency was similar to tempura. Lastly the drinks, the Black Sesame Flip was the best cocktail I’ve ever had! Will be going back for more for sure ☺️
