We had a wonderful Unite Couples Package experience at Hammam. Some reviewers mentioned not receiving an explanation of how things work when arriving. I asked a lot of questions when I got there. The spa has Turkish towels at the front desk. If you want to use the steam room without a bathing suit (ideal IMO), ask for a Turkish towel when you arrive. Put it on under your robe and head for the steam room. Leave your robe outside but take a regular towel (provided outside the steam room) for your head if you want to lay down. After your steam, try a glorious essential oil infused cool towel from the fridge outside to wipe off the sweat. The Turkish towel is a nice light fabric that is ideal for steam (and so comfy) - don’t settle for a regular towel! Don’t hesitate to enjoy the tea room or steam room before or between treatments. Staff will come and find you wherever you are when it is time for the treatment to start, so you can relax. I really struggled with the lack of clocks, and eventually put my phone in my robe pocket, but I technically did not need it. The couples package was great because the treatments had buffer time built in so that everything started and ended promptly and we had the chance to head to the steam room or tea room or washroom between appointments. Treatments were lovely - my skin was glorious when I got home. There was no sign of Turkish treats in the tea room except with our paid lunch, but lots of nuts and some dried cranberries. Mint tea was perfect for relaxation. Room was cozy and enjoyable. The lunch is a spot where the spa could do a bit better - a wrap at the price point in question seems a bit ridiculous, particularly in comparison to what’s offered at other spas. That said, there is a benefit to having a light lunch when using a steam room and getting massages, and the Turkish treats were truly wonderful.

It was an okay experience. Not worth the overall elevated price for the massage. I went for a one hour deep tissue massage. It was more of a relaxing massage that lacked depth. I went one year ago to the bayview location and the masseuse there was much better and seemed to have much more experience. When I booked here this time they switched my provider from the one I booked on the site (without notifying me)and the new provider was very young and I could tell by his technique he lacked experience. This is surprising since this is a luxury spa that pays their RMT’s very well and charges high end prices. When I mentioned it to the receptionist after she asked how the experience was, no comment was made which was a little disappointing. She was also unable to find the masseuse I had last time I came, who I really enjoyed. There seems to be a lack of consistency and at $250 for the massage I am a little surprised. Not worth taking the risk again if I could get another inexperienced masseuse. The amenities are nice and clean though.

Amazing experience in terms of the massage and the atmosphere. There are mini snacks, tea, and water for you to consume. Only two suggestions is that (1) the steam room was way too hot. Couldn't be in there for more than 3 min. I had to go in and come back out to go back in again. Other guest and myself couldn't be in there for too long. Would suggest having control temperature with two or three settings for guest to control, especially if there isn't many people in there. (2) Continue to work on customer service experience as the person who booked my appointment didn't even spell my name properly, and it was hard for the representative at the front to find my information. In addition, your online booking system is horrible. I have to call to officially book the appointment as your system locked me out. Sorry for such as honest review. But these little things will only make your business even stronger than it already is.

POSITIVES: I've been visiting this spa since 2015, and LOVED this place in their early days. This was my go to place for Facials, peels, and massages. Their Hammam Turkish Bath, and body treatments are also a treat. They provide you with a turkish wrap, robe, towels, and flip-flops for your visit so you don't need need bring too much with you on your visit. The use of their co-ed eucalyptus oil infused stream room (great for couples) is also complimentary with most services over $100. The exception are mainly a few facials as this can make your skin sensitive for the treatment. NEGATIVES: my experience here the past couple of years has been mixed, as the service is not as consistent as it used to be, the prices inflated quite a bit, and a lot of the staff appears to be changing more frequently than it used to. My rating for Hammam Spa fluctuates mostly between 3 and 4 based on my visits since the end of 2021 to the present. While the renovation is nice, the spa feels a little less cozy than it used to. I've also had a period of terrible service (with treatments and online orders), around the end of 2021 to early 2022 which made me take a break from this place, but has improved since. They also recently replaced their plush white robes with shorter, thin robes made in the same fabric as their turkish wraps.

I came here with high hopes and was left pretty disappointed considering this spa is on the higher end. I went for a hammam body scrub treatment and have done body scrubs at other places multiple times. The person that did my massage was super nice and accommodating. However the treatment is not what I expected at all. There was a scrub applied however no scrub with a glove to exfoliate the dead skin, it was just putting product on the skin. Also considering the higher end price, there are used brushes/combs that are full of hair and not clean in the change rooms, the hair styling tools are outdated, there isn’t a place to rapidly dry your swim wear or bags, and products were empty. Pretty disappointed considering the price and comparing with other spas at a similar price point. Pros are the steam room is nice and spacious, the nuts/dried fruits and mint tea are a nice relaxing touch and the staff was great as well.

My first time visiting and I absolutely loved it. The ambiance is amazing, feels like you’re on vacation. The staff is wonderful and friendly. A very special thank you to an aesthetician Tanya, she did an amazing job. Michele and Tatyana were wonderful as well. 10/10 recommend!

I really wanted to like this place however I was not overly impressed from start to finish. This may be a one off or a bad day however I felt like for the price, the experience should have been significantly better. When I called to book I spoke with one person who was helpful, I said I’d call right back once I confirm the time with my other guests. I called back within 2 minutes and got another staff member who told me she couldn’t book more than one appointment and didn’t seem particularly interested in helping. After some back and forth we got the appointments sorted. The only specific request I had was that my dad have a female therapist. When the day of the appointment came, I realized we were running 5 minutes late, I called the listed number and let the staff know. 3 minutes into our appointment time, I got a call from another staff member asking where we were…. I guess the communication between the main line and the front desk may be broken down because the message never made it, furthermore-when we arrived, my dad was placed with a male therapist who I then asked to switch. The massage was very below average. I still felt tense and sore afterwards especially in my shoulders and my back where I asked the time to be focused. As someone who gets regular massages, I was disappointed in the fact that the high priced massage was probably one of the top worst. Things that are standard like eye covers when flipped onto back, placing shoes and robe for client to get dressed, bolsters placed evenly etc the little things just don’t seem to matter here. The one thing I must say on the positive side is that the spa is beautiful, clean and relaxing space. It definitely LOOKS like it’s worth the prices however I found the quality of my treatment significantly lacking.

Amazing to good. I have been 3 times, twice were amazing, blissful, gorgeous pedicure that lasted 5 weeks, fantastic body scrub, legendary facial with a glow for weeks. The other time was relaxing, pretty atmosphere, but my scrub was by someone who didn’t put much care into their work, it felt like a bunch of coffee grounds pushed quickly onto my skin and done. I’m still going to go and make sure to request the people that enjoy their work. Many of the staff are exceptional. The steam room is perfect and relaxing. The lounge and rooms are dimly lit and beautifully decorated, snacks, water, tea readily available. Washroom is the best of any spa I have been to, clean, pretty, replenished towels, robes, shoes, incredible quality toiletries, hair tools. It’s a dream to get ready there and have as a buffer to re-enter the cold cruel world with inner peace and content.

The customer service at this place is great, however the manicure is really bad. They do not do gel, which is fine, but for some reason the person who was doing my nails decided to remove my gel. She treated it like a shellac removal and soaked my nails in acetone for at least 15 minutes if not longer. She then manually scraped the gel off which was so incredibly painful, but obviously there was no going back. She hardly removed any cuticles and left me with uneven nails even though I told her that they are different lengths. I didn't ask for this service, I expected her to just clean up my cuticle area. I got charged $20 extra for this and it was supposed to be a mani-pedi gift package that I got for Christmas. The nail polish started to come off the same day and my skin is irritated from the acetone, especially since I have eczema. The aesthetician somehow didn't know I have the skin condition even though I filled it out on the health form prior. I've never had a manicure experience this bad before. I also have to mention how confusing the locker room is. The receptionist didn't tell me upon arrival how to use the lockers. Thankfully, another customer helped me out. I saw other people struggle with their lockers too. The towels and bathrobes are quite small even for me and I consider myself a very average size, leaning slightly on the petit. I can't imagine how that could make anyone feel who is above average size, especially since they've come to the spa to relax and feel good about themselves. Update: In a day and a half, 1/3 of the nail polish has chipped off. On one of my nails it has peeled off completely in one piece. My skin on my fingers on my right hand has started to peel too. Update a week later: I removed the nail polish that was so incredibly chipped and finally gave myself a proper manicure. After I removed the polish I noticed that a few of my nails have splinter hemorrhages from getting the gel peeled off. I've included a picture of where it's seen the best. The other hemorrhages are too faint to be picked up by the camera. You can also clearly see the length difference that the technician didn't fix even though I asked her to. Emailed the spa after their comment and they never responded 🙄 it's been weeks

The RMT had asked if there was an area that needed more attention, I mentioned my neck and back with the expectation it would still be a full body massage. The RMT spent a long time massaging my scalp and tugging on my hair which wasn't requested or enjoyable. There was no check in or consent. Definitely not my favorite massage.

Love it starting from steam room ending with tea corner by the fireplace. Service was great. Team was so kind and friendly. Clean place and a great way to treat yourself and relax. It’s recommended. Only thing I recommend is to add some direction signs and arrows to make it easy to move around. Also add rooms name too.

One of my top spa experiences. I had the clay wrap. Very professional and the flow of the service was very well orchestrated. I highly recommend. I also did the hair mask upgrade and it smelled really good.

I love the Hammam Spa - there is nothing that compares to the Turkish bath. I've been to this location 3 - 4 times now and I can't wait for my next visit. I tried to get a massage today for the first time. If I am being honest, the massage was mediocre at best. Will refrain from getting massages again in the future & stick to the baths.

I have visited a couple times and have thoroughly enjoyed both experiences. The steam room is lovely, the services are great, and their lounge offers hot tea and nuts/dried fruit. But they lose a star for value. For the price, there are other spas nearby and across downtown that offer a lot more amenities like sauna, pools, etc such as Body Blitz, Elmwood, and the Intercontinental if you're looking for a full day of experiences.

I’ve been going to the Hammam Spa for years. It never disappoints - regardless of the spa service you get. It’s a gem in Toronto. And if you want the best facial - be sure to book with Tanya. She is amazing! Great atmosphere, talented and friendly staff.

My friend and I booked body wraps for our birthdays. Staff was friendly and polite however we felt that it was overly priced for the experience. Our package was about $250 so we expected some level of pampering but the experience was quite disappointing. Steam room was great but the service was mediocre - it started with a scrub and then the “wrap” was basically a heating blanket you get in most first aid kits because “it holds in warmth”. The included scalp massage was ineffective - no force, just felt like someone playing with our hair. Neck/shoulder massage was so so as well. After the service, no one guided us to where we should go. We grabbed water and just stood there drinking and chatting. After a few minutes one attendant told us there are sweets and tea for us in the lounge but never mentioned which set up. We walked over and guessed. They tell you to bring bathing suits but then you’re given a paper like gstring to wear during the treatment. The robes are meant to bring an authentic feel but they feel like dish rags. The towels included in the bathroom are beyond tiny - if you’re anything bigger than a size 2 - grab 2. They had 1 little knob between the shower stalls to hang your towel but it was so small and if someone else came and opened a stall, your stuff lands on the floor. The best part of the whole thing was the shower pressure. After the shower, the “amenities” they mention: the hair dryer attachments don’t fit, the hair products weren’t restocked … I grabbed some mousse and it came out as liquid gel. When we went to pay, we heard another girl using her birthday coupon so we asked about it since that’s why we were there. The girl told us it had to be emailed to us. We booked a week in advance, nothing was emailed to us. They tried to do it on the spot but nothing came through so we ended up paying full price. I asked if I could rebook a steam session for my husband and have him use it once it comes through- I was told no and it had to be used by me during my birthday month. They gave us a “gift” to compensate which was an exfoliating mit (we had already received the one used during our treatment). For the amount we paid, it was an underwhelming experience.

Emma is amazing - provides excellent massages. Providing a low rating because they constantly have bad music. It’s not even Turkish/middle eastern to match the spa but it’s often fast paced dance-type music with lyrics in English or French. Everything is great but you can’t relax with is a shame given why you’re there and the price.

My friend and I went here for a body scrub treatment for our birthdays and we were not impressed. It was not worth $220+tax. The staff were polite but we barely had any pressure applied for the shoulder or scalp massage (which we were looking forward to). We felt as though we had clay applied on us and then washed off. We were also not impressed with the change room. The towels were very small, robes did not have pockets and we weren’t shown how to use the lockers properly as they do at other spas. Overall, I would recommend other spas such as Guerlain or Four Seasons. You may have to pay a tad more, but the service and amenities are far better.

I visited the Hamam Spa by Céla on Saturday to celebrate a special occasion with my partner. Previously, I have visited the Hamam spa in the Shangri La hotel and had had such a lovely experience there which is why I thought to try the King street location. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed. The massages my partner and I received were lacklustre and did not live up to the standard of our previous visit. Further, we were hardly addressed by the staff. At the Shangri La location, we were greeted by staff anytime we passed them in the hallway, were guided to the tea lounge after our treatment and given a selection of teas and snacks. Here, we had to guide ourselves and serve ourselves snacks and refreshments. Overall, we left feeling like we had finished an appointment, rather than having had a relaxing evening at the spa. I wouldn’t go back.
