Me and my husband went for 2023 Summerlicious. The overall atmosphere was nice. I was amazed by how well the interior was done, since you can't really tell from the outside of the building! One thing I noticed was they did well done separating the bar area and the dining area. Bar customers would get totally different experience from the dining customers. Here comes the food review 🍽: Salmon tartare: Totally Asianized. The salmon was refreshing, and the seaweed cracker definitely gave a little fun to the texture. I would give a 3 star, since it was not so harmonized with other food. Caesar salad: The portion was very generous. The bacon was thick and fresh! I would give a 4 star. Pitmaster combo: They provide 3 kinds of house made sauces. Oddly, I liked the meat without the sauce. The brisket was my favorite, as it was very tender and juicy. Other meat, however, was a disappointment. I thought the meat was very dry and the seasoning was not even. I would give a 2 star, considering the price. Smoked Atlantic Salmon: If you are a salmon lover, I would definitely recommend this dish. The salmon was perfectly cooked! I would happily give a 4 star. Coconut sorbet: Refreshing and not so sweet. Banoffee pie: It was very very sweet, but rich and thick at the same time! I'm glad it went well with the coconut sorbet. I would recommend it with a coffee or espresso! Thoughts💭💭💭: Besides the average food quality, I was not happy with the overall dining experience. The food came very very slowly. I felt the time took between the dishes was too long. The main dish did not come until 5:30. We sat on the table at 4:30! After we finished the main dish, we were told by the server that the coconut cream pie we ordered was out of order. Without any apologies, the server insisted that we need to order Banoffee pie or the sorbet instead. I thought it could be better it the server told us more politely or ahead of time. I don't know if I could recommend this place to my friends or family. I understand that their concept is unique (upscale ribs), but I would not come back.

FOOD: huge portion • Pitmaster Platter (for 2): it's so big if you order anything else other than this you won't be able to finish. Pull pork and chicken was meh. I really really like the brisket and sausage. Brisket was melt in my mouth, sausage is very flavorful. The rib was very well seasoned as well. • Smoke Bacon Ceasars: I didn't understand what's going on, I got a huge, like half an uncut lettuce, not enough of dressing, and salty. • Salmon tartar: I like this one, I love that they fry the seaweed. The seaweed, avocado and salmon goes very well together. But it has very little salmon. • Banoffee Pie: this one surprised me. Not sure what's the popcorn for but the rest was great. Right sweetness, the pudding was rich. SERVICE: decent, it's quite busy that day so I had to wait a while for the food, or someone came take our order. VIBE: quite loud in there, I think the table is too small for platters or more than 3 plates at a time.

Ordered the Carbon Bar Experience for two, 1/2 dozen oysters, and a few drinks and really enjoyed our experience. Standout items: salmon, brisket, fried chicken, sausage, ribs, pulled pork, collard greens, coleslaw, and the banoffee pie. The Tokyo Breeze cocktail was really nice. OK items: turkey breast (a bit dry), KFC (a little soggy), fries (slightly overcooked). I'm nitpicking at this point though as all 3 items were all still tasty. Georgia Peaches mocktail was really sour and we had to water it down slightly. The pitmaster platter was served with 3 sauces but honestly, none of the meats needed sauce. Great on their own. Overall, enjoyed the Carbon Bar's take on upscale BBQ. Note: not cheap but what BBQ place is - especially in the middle of downtown? They also have a great bourbon selection, nice cocktails, and daily drink specials. Thanks Lisa for the great service!

We recently dined at Carbon Bar for a late dinner. Being a vegetarian, I often find limited options at such venues. Typically, they offer a substitution of pork in tacos with mushrooms, but on this particular evening, they were running low on mushrooms. I opted for the "KFC Korean Fried Cauliflower," a dish with a name I found quite inventive and side of coleslaw salad. Additionally, I indulged in a glass of white sangria, which was delectably refreshing. Throughout our meal, the server was incredibly friendly, going above and beyond to accommodate all our requests.

Fantastic service and delicious BBQ! I had went here to celebrate a friend’s birthday and we all had such a great experience. We were impressed with the quality of the food - the burnt end lettuce wraps, cauliflower and mac and cheese were huge hits at our table to pair with the pit master platter. Hayley was our server and added so much to our experience. We will definitely be going back!

The Texas BBQ will have you feeling full for days. I'm still full as I write this review. The meat is BBQ'd to perfection. Juicy, packed with flavour, absolutely delectable. As full and lethargic as it might have made me feel post meal, I'm still craving the leftovers. The cocktails, the selection of bourbon, and the sides all compliment the platter really well. We took the burden of decisions off our hands and selected "the experience", which is a curated meal. A couple of starters, a seafood item, salad, then the platter (which you can get on its own), and dessert for the finish. The pie, which I wish I could remember the name of, was decadent and I could eat a whole bowl of that. Even after eating all that heavy heavy meat. So, go hear hungry and don't plan to go out dancing afterwards. I'd recommend you find a plush chair with a cigar to let your gut do it's job. Our server was nice, helpful, and an all round great person. Our food was a tad disjointed in its arrival as there was a long pause after our starters, but it didn't ruin anything. We had more time to chat and drink. I must mention one thing though... The place is very loud. I had a hard time hearing people across the table and felt like I had to yell. So, not your spot for an intimate dinner.

Great meat, great cocktails (a little small for the price) and a very attentive waitress. The whiskey recommendation by the appropriate waiter was very appropriate. Thank you very much! Really recommended. Thank you for an enjoyable evening.

I absolutely loved this restaurant. The food took some time to arrive, but it was worth the wait! Here’s what we ordered: Beef brisket - DELICIOUS Mac and cheese - Added hot sauce! So good! Steak and frites - Very good! Corn bread (the sauce that came with the cornbread was great! The cornbread itself was alright) The atmosphere was fun, I loved the dim lighting! We sat in the lounge area!

Amazing steak and cocktails! The service is really good too. The music is on a good volume, you can enjoy it or just talk with your friends and the ambience is pleasant. I'm giving 4 stars because it is a little pricy for my taste and the kitchen and the bar close at the same time. So if you want to stay longer after your dinner and enjoy the vibe with some alcohol, you can't.

Carbon Bar is an excellent bbq joint in the heart of DT. Probably unlike any bbq joint you’ve been to before, the interior provides a sleek and mature aesthetic for a more upscale feel. Food is excellent and prices are really reasonable considering the area. Would recommend getting a full platter to try all their meats; the fried chicken is fantastic. Came for winterlicous this time and the standout for me was the salmon tartare. The dressing on the fish was slightly spicy and creamy, and the tempura style seaweed was a really great idea to serve the fish on. Pork ribs are really good here. Very tender and the sauce is smoky. The banana toffee pie was also a highlight. Really thick and oozing butterscotch flavour, with the cream to bring down the sweetness a notch.

5 stars all around! Don’t sleep on the KFC, shrimp ceviche, fried chicken, sausages, ribs or brisket. The talented chefs have nailed absolutely everything on the menu down to the fries and coleslaw! Highly recommend the Black Mamba and Raised by Wolves cocktails - they were absolutely incredible! If you have a second stomach for dessert, our favourite was the Banoffee Pie, it’s been a few days since our dinner there and I’m craving more of it! Hands down the best dining experience that we have had in Toronto with the greatest service as well! Highly recommend splurging on The Carbon Bar Experience. You’ll get a perfect portion of everything for a reasonable price!

Went for the chef's tasting menu which I was a great way to try a range of dishes. My personal highlights was the salmon, fried chicken and meat platter. The fried chicken was so tender and the brisket was very juicy. More of an upscale BBQ place but a great place for a treat. Good selection of cocktails and local beers too! We were a big table and the staff were fantastic even on a busy Saturday night!

Ordered: Salmon Tartare, Smoked Bacon Caesar, Smoked Atlantic Salmon, Pitmaster Combo, Banoffee Pie, Coconut Sorbet Salmon Tartare 3/5 The composition of the dish was refreshing, with an unique taste that was well balanced. The only down side was the chili oil being a bit overpowering over the dish. Smoked Bacon Caesar 2/5 Overall dish was okay, but nothing special. The bacon taste was strong, which stood out a bit too much. Pitmaster Combo 2/5 The brisket was quite dry, with one side too salty compared to the others. The pulled pork was a bit dry. Sausages were okay. Ribs were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Overall, the meats tasted ordinary, nothing special. Would have been better if served with bread. Smoked Atlantic Salmon 2/5 The salmon was dry, although the outsides seemed perfectly cooked. My guess is that it may have been smoked too long. The sauce was a bit weak in taste. Banoffee Pie 3/5 The toffee was a bit too sweet and didn't mix too well with the banana flavour. The vanilla cream on the side lacked flavour. Coconut Sorbet 4/5 The coconut taste was very pleasant and well balanced, not too fruity nor creamy. Would have gone well with some cookies on the side.

One of my favourite restaurants from the first time I went. The food and service are bar none. The ribs and beef melt like butter in your mouth, and they are smoked perfectly each time. Manager Brad is great and very caring; he and his team always go the extra mile to provide amazing customer service. Telling everyone I know that wants to experience real and authentic BBQ in Toronto/GTA. No other restaurant comes close to their food and service.

Came here for some drinks and a catch up with old colleagues. We had a reservation and we're seated promptly - we went over our time limit by quite a bit and they were accommodating until another reservation came in. I had the pork tacos and they were delicious- i just wished it was three instead of two, that would have been the perfect combination. my colleague really enjoyed their food as well, they said the steak was cooked to the perfect consistency. One of my colleagues is a big bourbon drinker and was really happy to see the cart - hats off to the ops manager, he knows his stuff!

*Drinks review only* Stopped in at around 5:30 on a Saturday to grab a quick drink before dinner. It looks like a pretty hip place. Once you walk in, they have sound boards nailed on the wall. We sat by the bar but the rest of the dining area looked pretty spacious. For drinks, I had the Texas Tea (Michter’s bourbon, ginger liqueur, eucalyptus apricot and mint honey lemon juice). It was nice and refreshing. There were a few others that sounded pretty good but we had to get to a dinner resso. It’s definitely a unique cocktail menu though and I appreciate that they have more than your typical old fashioned and mojitos.

Stumbled upon this gem just as they opened. It was also the start of Summerlicious so there was an additional fixed menu. Best BBQ I have had in a longggggg time! Brisket on point, ribs were to die also the pulled pork! Drinks were pricey but so worth it! Definitely come for the pitmaster! 10000% Banoffee pie was too sweet.

Definitely a more gourmet take on bbq and I can't say I have any complaints. The octopus was perfectly cooked and flavourful. The mixed meats were smokey yet refined. Don't expect oversized smokehouse portions, the portions are just right.

I recommended this restaurant for my friends birthday. I had come here years ago and had a great experience but not so much this time. We had a few issues with reservations. Once booked, we called back to ask about our reservation and we were told it was never booked. To be honest, not a big deal. They accommodated us in the end. The issue was the service. Our server did not seem happy to serve us and was always in a rush to leave. Before we would finish our order or any request, she would walk off mid sentence. It honestly just wasn’t the greatest. Pretty disappointing as service is a huge part of the experience. Aside from that, the food is pretty good I can’t lie about that.

Overall good experience. The food was very tasty. The smoked ribs and brisket was excellent. The atmosphere was nice, but I felt the tables were too close to others. Overall the waitress was good, but she forgot our pickles that were included in the menu and forgot to fill up our water a few times. The price was expensive for the quality of service.

Fabulous food, delicious cocktails, and wonderful service. We stopped in for a drink at happy hour and ended up having dinner. I had a Black Mamba Margarita and my wife had a Pit Fired Old Fashioned and both were fabulous so we order seconds. I had the Blistered Shishitos and they were delicious. We followed up with the Mac & Cheese Bites and Smoked Bacon Caesar. It was all delicious. It was great for happy hour and we will definitely be back for a full meal.

Second time dining here, and both times were great. Food is really good (and filling!) and the service is good too. The playlist also rules! First time, we had the chef's tasting menu. It was so much food that we packed a lot of leftovers, but everything was delicious. Second time, we had the Winterlicious menu and it was still filling. I opted for the salmon tartare, miso-glazed salmon, and s'mores brownie (since we had BBQ the first time around) - the tartare was really good with the seaweed crisps, and the salmon for the main was cooked to perfection. Pics attached of the chef's tasting menu from summer 23 and Winterlicious 24.

This is a place to eat and drink the night away. Shared the pitmaster platter, a bunch of sides and the smores for dessert. Standouts were the fried chicken (really tasty, juicy inside, not greasy), cornbread (great balance of being moist and chewy) and smores (indulgently hefty). If I had a bone to pick, would have liked the brisket and ribs to be a tad bit more tender. Service was quick and helpful. Space was great for groups. Vibe was lively yet conversation-friendly. This is a good spot to meet up with friends.

Something changed about this restaurant when I first visited 3 years ago. I ordered the Pit master platter both times. When I first had it, the brisket was juicy and super flavourful, ribs were tender and still had some bite to them, and the burnt ends were mind blowing. When I went just recently, the brisket looked moist but was actually pretty dry inside, ribs were tough, and burnt ends were so-so. Pickles tasted good but weren't crunchy at all. Service is still great, but the food was a disappointment. I used to rave about it to my friends all the time but it looks like I will need to find a new barbecue spot to recommend.

Stopped in for a late night snack and drinks. I'd like to try out the full BBQ platter, but this wasnt the night. We ordered the burnt ends ssam. This was a great fusion idea and well presented. The burnt ends were good, but I've had better. We also ordered some fries. Fries were forgotten, and came late after asking our server. We both had cocktails which were really well made and creative. Our server was focussed on removing our plates and took away the cocktail before it quite finished. The server was polite, but brusk.

The brisket is delicious - super flavourful and tender albeit a bit fatty. Fried chicken is awesome as well - it stays crispy and juicy even after delivery. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the salad bowl - the kimchi really threw me off (and I’m korean). The baked beans were inconsistent - this time it was very acidic and tomato-ey. The smoked turkey was pretty dry - unfortunate but it’s hard to make turkey breast taste good. I’ll accept that.

  • 4/5 Ian A. 5 months ago on Google
Food was good! Odd concept for the salad and meat was hard on the bones of the rib but tasted good! Service is a bit rough though, the overall servers that are running food and getting orders were awsome, the Turkish lady was very on the ball and polite. The host and whoever poured water and then ignored my drink order were alittle off. Kinda ruined the vibe of the place. Parking around was also alittle sketchy

Had friends come from out of town. One friend is a recovering alcoholic almost celebrating when you're clean. We decided on carbon bar as we figured that it was a fairly safe spot for him to go out without all the pressures of alcohol. Unfortunately, we were not informed when we booked our table that our table would actually be the bar. With the cancellation fee in effect we had no option but to stay. They apparently tried to find us a table but none were available which makes sense for a Saturday night. This should be information given when you make a reservation though. Besides that, the food was mouthwateringly delicious and the flavors were outstanding. The staff was very friendly. But the beer on top was kind of warm.

Good food, it was very warm indoors when we had our brunch last Sunday. what is didn't like was Auto Gratuity of 20% on our bill and we were only 2 of us. Would have been better if we were informed while making our reservation online.

Went here for a date night for Summerlicious. The food and atmosphere was very good, and the service was amazing that we tipped higher than we usually do. It felt that we were attended very well and they even recommended which sauce to use for each meat. Apps and dessert were very good as well. Would go back again

Service was fast and efficient. Decor was very modern and stylish had a very comfy relax feel. Drinks were on point. Food was great, the mix meat platter was alot of options and satisfied all cravings. Dessert was not bad as we picked the chef mixed choice, but was just enough for everyone to share after that stuffing meal.

Lovely funky restaurant. Do make a reservation as it gets fully booked even in low season. Great ambience. Low lighting and super friendly and attentive staff. Food was great. They serve a meat platter for $38 and it's enough for 2 especially if you order appetizers. We went 2 nights in a row and thoroughly recommend this place. Good prices and good food. The staff are the stars of this place

The environment was modern-chic; the lighting made it for an intimate time within a busy restaurant. The waitresses were all amazing, attentive, knowledgeable, and helpful. Now, let's move to the food. For the starter, we ordered the KFC (Fried Caulliflower), it was so crispy and flavourful that we were amazed and couldn't get enough of. For main course we had the Hot Smoked Salmon and Prime Beef Brisket. The salmon was one of the best salmons I've ever had. The fish was cooked to perfection and it was very fluffy. The curry sauce was absolutely delicious and you could taste every flavour. The Brisket was flavourful and it melted in your mouth. The sauce house sauce was like the cherry on top for the brisket. For dessert we ordered the Banoffee Pie and we were pleasantly surprised with how perfect it was. The toffee was well done and not overly sweet, the vanilla chantilly was balancing the sweetness of the toffee and the brulee bananas were a beautiful compliment. Drinks: we got the Pillow Talk, Whiskey Sour, and Barrel on the Beach and all three were perfection. 100% will comeback to try the Carbon Experience!

Amazing dinner with my friends on carbon bar. My most favorite thing on the menu gonna be this deep fried cauliflower! They have a really good bbq stuff too. On top of this great food our server also really nice. Joanne is our server for the night! She recommended some stuff from the menu and also drinks that taste amazing. Her attentiveness is on point! Would love to come back again and try some more of their cocktails!

Me and my 4 friends were in the area and decided to try Carbon Bar for the first time. First impressions: love the interior decor. Our server Joanne made some great recommendations I would come back to have. One of the appetizers that we shared was the KFC (korean fried cauliflower), but next time, I'd get 2 plates for myself because they're that good. The Pulled Pork Tacos were stuffed and flavourful. She helped us gauge how many meat platters we should order and 3 was just perfect for our party. Meat was tender and the sides that we added like the mac n cheese paired really well together. For dessert, we ordered the Super Chocolate Praline Cake which was tasty and really rich. Although it was great alone, next time, I would order a scoop of vanilla ice cream with it just to balance it out. Joanne was super friendly and checked in on us just the right amount of times even though she had many other tables to take care of. All in all, great food and great service.

Underwhelming meats. We got the platter and honestly the meats were just ok, nothing special. The brisket was good, but that's about it.

Definitely will be a hit if you like brisket. Salty, tender and flavourful. I loved the salad and fried chicken. The Korean cauliflower had a bit of heat and we loved it! The Ribs were tender but not too soft, they came off bone perfectly. Made our way through a few cocktails And they were thoughtfully curated and very delicious. We found the servers to be really attentive - everyone seemed to be caring for our table. We didn’t find it hard to flag someone down if needed. Large Queen street restaurant with no issues accommodating large groups. @linreviews on insta

Never got to dine in here to get the full experience as I started ordering takeout from here during the pandemic. Seems like they lowered prices a bit since it started, making it more affordable. I've tried a few different sandwiches from them, my favorite being their chicken sandwich. Their mac & cheese slaps though.

everything I ate was divine. The burnt brisket ends are to die for, and the carbon burger I would start ww3 over that burger it was so amazing. The fries were immaculate when dipped in whatever nectar of zeus that was delivered on that plate made them an immediate 10. To finish I went with a cheesecake which I was told is made in house, and I must say having had many cheesecakes in my days it was like pure ecstasy almost the same as looking at a beautiful car or my gorgeous girlfriend. The service was fantastic and friendly shoutout to our server sule you were great. if you are not eating at this place during your toronto visit you are a psychopath. Also the Tokyo breeze is to die for I would drink 10 more if given the opportunity.

The atmosphere in the weekend night makes you tune in party mood. Came in after shopping and were pleasantly surprised with the vibes of this place. We took the meat plate for two, but didn't manage to finish it. However, there is always spot for a cheesecake 😉
