I don't mind paying good money for a good sandwich. But the audacity of presenting such a price tag with such little value is beyond me. I generally don't do the review thing, but I feel like this is something that needs to change in this establishment immediately. If I order a sandwich that is over $10, it had better have more than a quarter cup of chicken on it. At least one entire strip of bacon, not a single sliver on either half. A single sliver of roasted red pepper on each half of my sandwich that was cut so thinly If I dropped it in the air it would blow away. Very disappointed. The sandwich had good flavor don't get me wrong, but I am not satisfied and I feel very ripped off. It doesn't help that my coffee leaked through almost immediately after them handing it to me. It was also delicious. I just think these sort of things need to be addressed. There is too much of a trend of cutting corners and producing skimpy quality goods in the city. I for one would like to see that change.

a lovely split level establishment (plus basement) - big windows = lots of daylight, joy and plenty of seating (soft chairs, tall chairs, regular chairs...). prices reasonable especially considering the location (Yorkville proximity). free wi-fi for guests. simple but satisfying food options.

Nice spot for coffee ☕️ in an old house 🏡 with two levels inside and a patio outside with umbrellas. They also Lactose Free milk 🥛 and plant 🌱 milk options. Popular downstairs with the laptop 👩‍💻 crowd.

Good spot for a bite and coffee with plenty of seating. I had a chocolate croissant straight from the oven and it was good. I wouldn't run back for the coffee though, it was average at best. Prices were very reasonable.

It’s such a beautiful and cozy space. The baristas are super nice. The avocado toast is yummy and very filling, you may not finish it in one seating. I loved their hot cocoa, it wasn’t too sweet.

It was one of those days you want a cup of warm coffee when there are wet snow everywhere outside. I got a cappuccino. I must say it’s so smooth that we took our time to enjoy every sip of it. The nutritious carrot and nut cake is so fresh and full of great stuff. A pleasant surprise! Thank you!

No monotony here--there are at least four well-designed environments in one shop. The big table upstairs for buzz and people watching; down below for heads-down work or quiet conversation; main level for comfy, sunny reading; outside, in a variety of spots, for living the sweater-weather café life. Tasty sandwiches, too.

I want to love this place because the coffee is good and there is a nice patio. But the baristas at the coffee house always seem grumpy, unfriendly or have a chip on their shoulders. I don’t know if it’s because of the management culture there. It feels toxic. This really discourages me from going there. I am sure not the only one feels that way.

I stopped by, today, for a latte and a vegan chocolate nut truffle...O.M.Goodness they were both delicious! The latte was perfectly strong and bitter and had smoky notes to it, fantastic; bonus points for the plant based milk options. The vegan chocolate nut Truffle was phenomenal. It was strongly flavoured of chocolate with tonnes of nuts in it; I hope the barrista didn't make a mistake in giving me a non-vegan Truffle because it tasted incredibly sinful. What made this experience even better, was the outdoor patio. It was my first time in a public setting in over 2 years, thanks to the pandemic, and I enjoyed every minute of it. Although, a tad on the expensive side, I'd go back.

Five Elements Coffee & Espresso Bar is one of the best, Toronto-style coffee houses in Toronto. There's an outdoor seating area with Muskoka chairs. The indoor area is divided amongst two floors, with the bottom floor being entirely occupied by a variety of seating arrangements, from singles chairs and tables, couches, group tables, and solo couches. As any good coffee shop should have in Toronto, Five Elements Coffee & Espresso Bar offers free WiFi; the network name and password are displayed on the wall. The staff is friendly, and their coffee is simply delicious. After your coffee, make sure to visit the Galerie De Bellefeuille, which is a short 5 minute walk down Avenue Road (walk south, towards the CN Tower). You won't regret stopping at either of these places.

This is a solid little study/work spot near the Yorkville area. There's downstairs seating that offers both a bench and chairs, with adequate table height to sit comfortably, although there aren't enough cushions for the benches, so your bottom might get a little sore after a while. The coffee was alright, my americano was a wee watered down. The service needs improving, the staff were a little arrogant, condescending and impatient. We felt rushed to order something and felt as though we could not properly look at the menu. When we asked for a macchiato, unsure if it would be a traditional macchiato in an espresso cup or one like they serve at Starbucks and other cafés, one of the baristas held the espresso cup up and said "it comes in this, yeah we're not Starbucks". Overall a decent café, but the customer service definitely needs some improvements. Try a smile or two and... chill out a little.

I like this cozy coffee shop with side yard to sit and enjoy outside. Only issue is the staff' attitudes. Most of them speak with customers very arrogantly . I noticed many times. That's why I prefer to write it here.

This lively neighbourhood café draws folks of all ages to sip coffee, chat and work. It's become a go-to for me and my laptop, partly because it's a venue for a writers' meet-up group. The basement room is well set up for coffee shop work sessions.

The best flat white in the city. Period. The vibe is relaxed, music not too loud (and great playlist), nice big windows (theres an upstairs and downstairs so lots of seating), great wifi, amazing breakfast sandwiches (all homemade fresh everyday) and croissants, staff is super friendly. Best all around coffee shop Ive been to in all of Toronto. And the prices are all amazing too!🔥🙌

A good place to have a good coffee. Quality and taste are always the same. People are friendly and you can do your own at the same time while you enjoy a nice coffee. Keep up the good job.

This place was actually so run down. Staff touching their NOSE before making our food and sneezing. It's not like they were even trying to hide it - everyone could see. Chairs ripping, dirty floors - definitely needs a refresh. Don't even get me started on the avocado toast (embarrassing). Not sure what happened with this place....

I haven’t had a bad cup when I stop in. Everyone needs a good coffee in the morning (and likely at multiple points throughout the day). Five Elements has what you need. Friendly staff and a cozy decor. Come in for coffee if their baked and breakfast items.

Finally visited this place and absolutely loved their coffee, protein balls and energy cookies!!! We we able to enjoy the patio and a day in Toronto. Highly recommend!

You can’t say you serve cold brew if you serve hot coffee poured over ice. Cold brew has its name for being brewed cold (16-24h) not hot. Absolutely different strength, mouthfeel and flavor profile. Know your stuff, if you are called "espresso bar". Iced tea is decent tho.

This place has been like a second home to me for the past 7 years! Love their coffee, love the vibe and seating area. I wish they had a better variety of plant based foods but their coffee is good enough for me 🌞

Love the cortado, the Coffee smells good and tastes great. Basement is a great place in the winter time and good patio in the summer. This is what you are expecting from a coffee shop.

We stopped by for breakfast and it was my first time here - happy to say that 5 Elements is in my top 3 favourite coffee shops in Toronto. Great service, excellent espresso and tasty sandwiches. They have a patio and plenty of seating options inside so it’s also a good place to read/study or get some work done. Wish I lived in Yorkville so I could come here more often!

Flies EVERYWHERE. on the tables, attacking your coffee and their entire baked goods counter. The servers behind the counter are the rudest people I've met in an incredibly long time. It was like I was trying to order a gang member for my coffee. The wrap I ordered was hot on the outside and COLD inside - absolutely disgusting and pathetic. They couldn't even get the toaster oven timing right. Plenty of seating inside if you are ready to be attacked by flies. I can't imagine how dirty an establishment needs to be to attract this many insects. It's only 4 degrees outside so I can't even blame the summer heat.

Beware of the athletic guy working there. He doesn’t return your correct change and shortened me a dollar. My large vanilla latte was $5.88 and I gave $7 and got 10cents back 😡

Really good coffee. The energy ball was good too. Friendly and quick staff. The place has nice vibe and seating indoors.

Such a disappointing experience and absolutely filthy environment. Chairs are ripping, the floors are sticky, dead bees and bugs on the windows, dust everywhere, boxes and inventory out on the floor. The cleanliness is horrendous and the only reason people still go there is because of the location and convenience within Yorkville. Used to love coming here when the previous owners kept the place like their own home - cozy and clean. Will never come back again and support.
