Looked for the highest rated dim sum place in Chinatown and we found it! It lived up to our expectations. The selection was amazing. The price was so affordable and if i had a bigger belly, I would have been able to try everything on the menu. The dim sum was juicy and tasty, the deep fried ones were not soaked in oil. They were lightly battered and fluffy. It was truly an enjoyable experience. Service was very quick and the turn over of new orders was pretty seamless. Love this place and would try more of the same dim sum plus new ones too.

Go early for dim sum before 11:15 am to avoid lineup. Service is generally decent. We asked the push cart ladies for extra paper napkins and a fres pot of tea and they always helped immediately with a positive attitude. Ask for the substantial cash discount. Around 10% off! Unfortunately one of the women servers, who handled our takeout containers and the cash discount bill, came back to our table after we paid, confused about the cash tip, as she immediately "forgot" about the cash discount and accused us of not tipping!! Fortunately, a different manager reassured us that we were correct. Food is delicious but waiting for your favourite cart items can be frustrating. We never saw items pass our table that were in other areas of the dining room. We were squished and bumped a few times at our table.

I've been going to Dim Sum King since I moved to Toronto about 14 years ago and it's my go-to dim sum place in Chinatown. There's nothing like cart after cart of delicious dim sum being wheeled around, but you should know that they have a really good dinner menu as well. We celebrated a friend's birthday there a couple weeks ago that included lobster, steamed fish, mixed veggies, soup (aka: "bone broth" 🙄), and really delicious and tender ribs, among other things. Delicious! Also, the service was excellent. Super friendly staff. Go support them!

My family's go-to spot for dim sum and dinner! It also feels like they've upped their dim sum game recently, the quality is even better than before. Also they have people pushing around the carts depending on when you go. The food comes out hot and delicious, one of the best in Chinatown for sure. Also the restaurant is big enough so there is good spacing between tables and dividers to follow covid restrictions.

Really, really impressed. I've been coming to this place since I was a kid. It has changed owners over the years and had highs and lows. This is the first time I've been here in maybe 5 years and so impressed. Food was fresh, delicious, dumplings were plump and generous, price was reasonable and service was very friendly and that says a lot for a Chinatown establishment! Atmosphere was clean and pleasant which is not typical for dim sum. I really appreciated the veg dumpling options, very rare to see! Will def be back!!

This is an authentic Chinese It’s kind of a hidden place at the 3rd floor of a building in China Town. From downstairs you won’t feel anything like upstairs. Once you get into the restaurant, you will wonder where all these people came from! The dim sum is always excellent. The ladies pushing the dim sum carts are always eager to provide anything they have. Price is fine. A good place to go if you down to some good dim sum and don’t mind the crowds.

Dim Sum King Seafood Restaurant, situated at 421 Dundas St West, is a true gem when it comes to traditional dim sum dining. From the moment you step inside, you'll be greeted with excellent and outstanding customer service, accompanied by swift service that leaves you impressed. First, the Steamed Shrimp Dumplings are a must-try. The delicate dumpling wrappers hold succulent shrimp fillings, creating a burst of flavors with each bite. The Shu Mai, another delightful choice, showcases the perfect combination of savory pork and shrimp. Both dishes were simply delicious. For a heartier option, the Rice Noodles with Minced Beef is a standout. The tender beef and silky rice noodles create a harmonious marriage of textures and flavors that will satisfy any palate. Lastly, don't forget to indulge in the Sponge Cake. It's a sweet treat that's light, fluffy, and an absolute joy to savor. One aspect that impressed me greatly was the restaurant's efficiency. From the moment I placed my order, the first dish arrived at my table within a mere 5 minutes. The subsequent dishes followed suit, with each arriving promptly within the next 6-8 minutes. This level of attentiveness and quick service truly showcases the dedication and skill of the staff. Not only is the service top-notch, but the food itself is consistently fresh, hot, and undeniably delicious. The flavors are authentic, and the quality of ingredients shines through in every dish. Overall, Dim Sum King Seafood Restaurant is a haven for dim sum lovers. The combination of outstanding customer service, efficient delivery of dishes, and the mouthwatering flavors of their steamed shrimp dumplings, shu mai, rice noodles with minced beef, and sponge cake make it an exceptional dining experience. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone seeking a memorable and satisfying dim sum adventure. P.S. I also highly recommend the following dim sum: - Steamed Shrimp Dumpling - Shu Mai - Rice Noodles with Minced Beef - Spong Cake - Pork and Preserved Egg Congee - Pan-Fried Turnip Cake with Salted Meat - Steamed Bean Curd Skin Roll with Oyster Sauce

Somehow this was one of the more "affordable" dim sum outlets in downtown but do note that the prices in 3 sizes does not apply to every item has a small or medium, some are just medium or just large so be aware when you order. I gave them a 3 stars rating because the food quality is somehow at the borderline of average for the price. The fried yam pastry somehow tasted a little sour, which probably meant that the yam was not fresh or started spoiling. The egg tart was not as flaky and nice as other affordable bakeries in the area. Everything was pretty ordinary, so I don't really have much good comments to make here. They are pretty prompt with the tea pot water top up, but the leaves provided were rather bland after 2 rounds of drinking. Overall the fried items were really oily, food is average and don't expect fine dining kind of service, this is a dim sum outlet where servers will push carts of food around and you can order directly, sometimes they might appear pushy but that's normal for a typical dim sum outlet so don't be surprised (or shocked or miffed) if it is your first time in this kind of old school dim sum outlet.

Walking towards the Toronto Art Gallery and spotted Chinatown! We always love our Dim Sum feed. The place from outside doesn’t look so special. However after we took the lift to the 3rd floor. We were Happy to see the crowds of people. We were given an ordering sheet, and the usual price list which the ladies pushing around the carts mark off. Food was tasty, however if you order food (which I ordered two) it should come hot. Our rice noodle with beef was not! But the spareribs in black bean sauce was the best! We tried a new thing that were cooking out at the front. Couldn’t eat everything so took it to go. The chilli paste oil was fantastic! Couldn’t get enough of it. They even had Covid safe measures with separations of plastic and wooden frames . I think the whole city needs a good clean or renovations. It’s obviously an older city.

Easy go-to place for dim sum! The restaurant is usually very spaced out so it makes you feel more reassured with the pandemic. Food usually comes out pretty fast. The service staff usually have limited English but they get the job done well. Sometimes there are certain menu items that are out of stock and it would be nice if we could be told before hand.

NOTE: you walk into the building mall then turn left and you walk up the stairs. I LOVE HOW IT IS ALL DAY DIM SUM!!! The food was overall really good— I was impressed with how it looked like a regular dim sum spot but it was so beautiful and the food tasted great. The 麻婆豆腐、千層糕,皮蛋蘇,and 蝦煎餅 were all outstanding!! The only one that was pretty bad was the xiaolongbao/ pork dumpling. Usually xiaolongbao is supposed to be very wet and soupy inside but this was dry and it had NO FLAVOUr!? That is a signifier northern Chinese dish how can you not make it good?!?! But other then that the service is really nice, the servers are hardworking and are consistent with checking up with you. However some only speak Cantonese, and some speak Cantonese and English. So not all servers understand Mandarin…

Delicious dim sum with large portions for reasonable prices, and great service by all the ladies there who I interacted with. There are push carts with a limited selection of immediately available items, but if you want anything in particular the ordering process is made very easy with pictures on the menu for every item. Pricing is also straightforward with most items falling into one of 4 "sizes" (prices).

Fantastic dim sum with service par for the course in Chinatown. Really liked the few sauces they kept on the table as not every dim sum restaurant does so. The deep fried red bean paste was incredible, make sure to get it if you’ve never had it (it’s a bit sweet but not cloyingly so).

The food was okay, not all the hype they give in the states… service it’s not NICE AT ALL coming FROM MANAGER.. the dim sum ladies carts were very nice to us and helped us with the menu. Managers should do better at their job for a restaurant that’s very known in the states. I am a tourist from Florida.

This is a great spot for dim sum, it’s buzzing with all sorts of people and the food is top notch. I love how they come around with the carts, it’s not as common these days. All the staples were there and they were delicious. Highlights are the turnip cake and the fried dumplings but honestly everything is good. Definitely a must when I’m back in Toronto.

The service doesn’t exist here. Rude and uncaring service. Dined in solo for lunch. Asked if the food items can be served together at the same time as I found some of the items took longer to arrive and other food got cold. The waiter rudely refused and said “can’t wait for everything”. I would have understood if the waiter politely declined my request but waiter almost gave me a lecture and was rude about it. Didn’t bother to check on my table once. When I was up to pay, the owner rounded up my bill to $29 instead of being exact which was $28.92. This is not right even though it’s small amount of money. They will also serve tea once you sit and charge $1.50 without telling you. Definitely avoid. I won’t be coming back despite the food being decent.

Dim sum restaurant right in the heart of China town. Traditional old Chinese restaurant decor, warm and cozy, service is attentive and friendly. Food portion is good, and price is reasonable, much cheaper than uptown. Parking is a bit challenging unless you go to the nearby paid parking.

Dimsum was my absolute fave!! Ordered half Peking Duck and it was delicious just don’t forget to ask for the bones if you like it ha having the minced meat cooked with veggies. The only thing I won’t give a 5 ⭐️ is because they don’t have proper seating, ordering and bill out process. The food is great so they still deserve a 4 star review.

I placed an order through Door Dash for steamed shrimp dumplings (har gow), rice noodle roll with shrimp, pan fried turnip cake, deep fried shrimp rolls, and steamed chicken feet with oyster sauce. The food was delivered in secure packaging. Everything tasted fresh and good. Prices were reasonable. I recommend this place for dim sum.

It was already packed around 11am on Sunday but we were able to get seated right away. The portions of food were good but the cart barely got to us before they ran out of food. I was extremely happy to have soft tofu (豆花) in sugar sauce. I loved that it was very authentic.

Dim Sun King is my always go-to place for my dim sum craving. I ordered 10 items this time and most of it are my favourite. The Deep Fried Meat and Shrimp Dumpling and the Seafood Pancakes are not to my liking. The dumplings are too doughy and starchy with very little filings. The Seafood Pancake is starchy too with very less seafood and taste a bit bland. My favourite are the Steamed Shrimp Dumplings and Deep Fried Taro with Meat. Oh if you are into Durian, the Durian Puff (desserts) are to die for :P

Great dim sum amongst great competition with Rosewood down the street. Here, I believe the service carries this restaurant further up a rating, as the servers are friendly, compared to the horrorshow service many good dim sum restaurants are infamously known for. The har gao and siu mai were particularly tender and flavourful.

Dim Sum King in Toronto offers decent but unremarkable food, accompanied by average service. While the restaurant proudly displays famous people who have dined there, the overall experience fails to impress.

I visited this dim sum place for the second time and noticed a slight increase in prices. They have a traditional style of serving dim sum, with ladies walking around with wagons, which is a rarity these days. They offer a variety of regular dim sum dishes as well as some special ones. Despite the price increase, the food is still great.

This place was popping at 11am on Sunday. Didn’t have to wait at all tho for a table as they run this place to its full capacity. You would sit so close to the other tables. Some people were even ON the stage eating. Was overwhelmed with the ladies and their carts at first as it was my first time at a dimsum place like this. Nonetheless food was decent. Couldn’t go wrong with the classic pork and century egg congee, siu mai, hargow. My favourite was the bbq pork bun, so soft and sweet. Service was okay, some ladies were funny

First time at a Chinese dim sum place. The portions were good for the prices. We tried 6 items from the menu and liked all of it. I’m more inclined to spicy food, which I didn’t find here. But hey, the dim sums and other dishes were still good. The complimentary herbal tea was nice too!

Dim sum is good and authentic. However, do gesture to the servers if u want to order food - as I witnessed a caucasian couple sat quietly for a good 15 mins waiting to be served - this is not how it works in a dim sum restaurant 😂

Chives and shrimps are very good. Staff are very attentive and friendly. Clean and it feels safe. Soup dumplings can be better… I will try to come back to try some others.

We love coming here after a visit to the art gallery. I love this dim sum restaurant with my whole heart - tastiness is comparable to higher end dim sum restaurants without the high end price. I always leave wishing I could hug our servers.

4.2 traditional and delicious dim sum experience with carts. Lots of great options and a huge bustling dining room. Located on the 3ed floor- unsure if there is an elevator for accessibility needs. Lots of great options, you may have to wait for your favourites to come around! Would have loved to order some things a La carte like soup or noodles but this wasn’t an option for us on a Sunday afternoon- maybe at other times.

Authentic Cantonese dim sum with generous portions. The dim sum were served piping hot and tasty too. We ordered the beef noodles and please don't underestimate the taste by its look. The noodles were cooked with good strong fire which you could taste the "wok hay" along with every bite of the noodles. The beef was tender and juicy that melts in your mouth. I have to say, this is the best beef noodles I have tasted. The congee was thick and smooth and fresh ingredients were used in all dim sum dishes. The only down side is that the table we sat on were slanted at the edge and we were worried that the plates may fall on us if we were to rest our hands too hard on it. Overall, had an enjoyable lunch at the restaurant. *"wok hay" is a particular aroma that could only be achieved when the dish is cooked under strong fire, and by a skilled chef.

It was my first time going to an authentic Dim Sum restaurant where they push the carts around and you pick what you want for the carts. The dim sum was really good and we had a great dining experience there for sure, all the workers were really nice and friendly as well, they’d show me what they have in the steamers when I didn’t understand what dim sum they had.

  • 5/5 Jacqueline C. 8 months ago on Google
Seriously best dim sum in North America. Better than any in NYC. Food is fast, tasty, piping hot. Portion sizes are just right. Feels just like Hong Kong decades ago when dim sum was still excellent.

This place offers you a no-frills dim sum experience that makes you feel like you’re dining in Hong Kong / Singapore / Malaysia (we’re native to those countries so we can definitely speak to this)! They push a cart around and offer you freshly made steamed dim sum and other stir fry / fried dishes. The portions are good, everything is freshly cooked and my personal favourite is the shrimp & chives dumpling— SO YUM! The prices are competitive, the servers are very attentive and they speak a smattering of cantonese, mandarin and english. We made a reservation but ended up not needing it because the place wasn’t packed at all (Saturday, 2pm). However, I’ve heard otherwise about others who’ve had to queue up for a table when they tried to do a walk-in. TLDR:what delicious experience, we’ll definitely be back to get our dim sum fix! 😁

Great DimSum and certainly a Chinatown experience. Nice mix of guests. The service was a bit messy and we never got our rice but the food was great and the atmosphere what we expected. The place in huge and I imagine it often has Chinese parties celebrating (as was the case when we visited) which adds to the friendly chaos. We enjoyed it and would certainly recommend to people looking for some “authentic” food.

This place was amazing for dim sum! Very authentic Chinese food. The service was great! The food was served steaming hot and very prompt. This is a great place to go for brunch with family and friends. I will definitely come back.

Top tier dim sum place:) lots of people on weekends, less crowded on weekdays. Food is fresh and waiters come around to show you different options. It was really fun! Would definitely recommend coming with family or friends. Food comes very quickly. It’s located on the 3rd floor of the building - stairs and an elevator is available.
